@all, for die hard CICO people- DEAP CAPITAL may still give you the 25% profit post declaration. If you look at trend now, most people that bought into it did so on low scale. The directors - 8 of them- owes virtually 65% of the company. They left 35% for lesser mortals like us. I will say it will be a tall order for anyone to get the shares before feb 12th closure day. However, you must keep in mind that 1st qtr result has not been declared. They may plan to release the result in time to boost their post declaration prices after adjustment. I know this is the right time for most companies to do PO. considering the level of liquidity in the systems. Even 'yeye' stocks dey over subscibe these days, I am not saying this as a matter of fact. nobody can predict tomorrow. But I will take my chance on 'better; guess. I do trust my 'hunch' on this. I sold BCC to enter Deap during the 3 day low period. I actually made a loss on BCC (a substantial loss in naira terms)- a loss that was vapourized by Deap in two days of trading. I am still looking for information oh. If i get any on the PO , I will share it with everybody. I do hope more people will believe and act on it now, Mainwhile, am on my way to getting my biggest 'profit' on one single stock in one single month! Information is costly. Lastly, there is risk involved. we should all be mindful of that, But can we afford to wait and do nothing? |

Ikeja hotels, If we are to go by last closing price and volume traded, it will take the grace of almighty God to get the stock on monday. 170k units in 10 deals shows the speculators have started 'hoarding' it. On many occasions , our revered analysts have touted ikeja hotel as a good buy based on fundamental and the equally important timing- expected results. That ought to have been the right time to buy. our market is so dynamic, and one day indecision can make/cost you millions depending on how big you are. Making money in stock market largely depends on individual investors and the brokers you use. A slow broker can make you lose money big time if he fails to execute your other promptly. Yes prompt execution based on accurate timing oh. The CICO desciples will attest to this fact. If you are a long termer- all you need is the accuracy of your analysis/fundamentals in order to buy and sell. Your slow broker as it were has enough time to carry out your order, however, if you belong to F02 camp, I will advice you change your slow broker first( if you have one) and come back to take more investment lessons on CICO from dem gurus, new readers should try and go back several pages to LEARN about stocks. The time you will spend reading several backlogs of mind-boggling discussions will help you become a better investor. If you are a newbie and you ask questions, you will definetely have answers to your questions based on seflessness of most people on this baord, But it wont give you that 'precious' lesson you need to make you a better investor- a lesson that will serve you better than any tips you get by asking what to buy and what to sell. happy investing! |
@kauskey and all that are interested in DEAP CAPITAL. The EGM did take place yesterday. This is from proshareng. Maybe the gurus can start making investment decisions on this. Still awaiting full yr result though. Deap Capital plans N6b public offering, raises authorised ca Posted Wednesday, January 23, 2008 Deap Capital Management and Trust Plc, a company quoted in the other financial institutions sub-sector of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) has concluded plans to raise about N6 billion from the new issues market. The fund would be raised through the issuance of one billion shares of 50 kobo each at a price to be determined by the board and approved by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Preparatory to the new issue, the company's shareholders yesterday at an extra-ordinary general meeting approved some resolutions proposed by the board to them. For instance, it was proposed that the company's authorised share capital be increased from N500 million to N1.5 billion by the creation of additional two billion ordinary shares of 50 kobo each, ranking Parri Passu in all respects with the existing shares of the company, which was approved. Besides, the resolution that the Memorandum and Articles of Association of the company be adjusted respectively was equally approved. The directors were also authorised to offer to the public by way of public offer, one billion ordinary shares of 50 kobo each in the capital of the company at a date and upon the terms and conditions as the directors may in their absolute discretion determine. Addressing shareholders at the meeting before the approval the company's chairman, Mr. Sylvanus Ezendu said: "We have heard that the share capital will be increased from N70 million to N1 billion. We also have subsidiaries in oil and gas, mortagage banking and stockbroking and issuing house business. Amplifying further, he said: "Our subsidiary, Resort Securities requires N1 billion capitalisation, Resort Savings and Loans requires N2 billion, and Deap Capital as an issuing house has to increase capital to N2 billion. That is why we are raising fresh funds. If is to part-finance our various subsidiaries." |
kauskey:@Kauskey, my brother, they should av finished EGM by now, It was supposed to hold today, I got the date wrong in my earlier submission. 23rd not 22nd. The EGM is to ratify various proposal aim at increaing share share capital for the next PO . Dem wan come to the market for another PO. You know how its done, I wouldnt know whether na this yr or next oh. But they are definitely hitting the market again, Well, you may take or may not take my word for this, The AGM should come up Feb 28th according to the intel report. it is right to expect full yr result in the next two weeks, In addition, there is no going back on the bonus. That is very sure . 1 for 2, My interest is high on the stock. I have loads of their shares. I was lucky to pick massive units during the 3 day low period. I bought IPO's too. So I do my best to get information so I can sell quick if i sense danger, For now I am still counting profits- 6m+ -yet still counting. Happy investing. |

@kauskey Thanks. you have been most helpful. |
nairalanders, anyone with today's bid/offer positions ? |
hbrednic:My brother, How u dey now? Yes oh. DSR was good for me. - eyes never open like this, Oversubcription no common then, I don move out of DSR since, Our markets dey too dynamic to 'siddon' for one stock, |
Afribank is really looking 'yummy' now. I do hope it wont be scarce by Monday. At this rate, I doubt if the price can go below the PO's of N25. Have you guys started buying? I think CICO experts have advised us to buy. Apart from the technical factor, the fact that it is dangerously close to N25 is enough incentive to buy big time. Deap capital. There is going to be a pre-agm by 23rd of this month. finally, I guess the much awaited bonus issue is on sight, It shoud be out end of this month if my intell. is right. 4M profit and and still counting!!! is it right to say I don hama!!!!!!!! If the rumoured Public offer of N5 is true, this stock may touch N8 pre-result declaration.a tall order, lets watch, If you have Deap, pls hold on to it, Happy investing! |
enurayce:Of course, if you can get it on the floor. Thats the only place you can get it anyway. The bonus will be on 1billion outstanding shares. Any unit you buy at whatever price is still part of 1billion outstanding. @Pumping777 Hope you know 'slack' in getting Deap oh.As far as investors appetite for bonus still dey strong, you are in for one ride you wont forget in a hurry.3M gain already. still counting! . Honestly, I wouldnt know if the ride has started already. While person go dey chase different shares why you can concentrate on one or two and milk it for all its worth, it is extreme and highly risky, totally at variance to the highly publicised strategy of spreading ones risk. |
Deap capital/ outcome of meeting. Bonus of 1 for 2 is sure. no problems on that. Dont forget the dividend oh. result will hit the market anytime soon. There is going to be another PO, probably in March/April. I am not sure how they want to pull that trick again. Too soon, I will say. If you dont believe me, please consider this as one of 'numerous market rumours'. So you can treat it as such. post PO Outstanding shares is 1B- inluding the 50million unit reserved for staff . For those that want to celebrate big before march I will advice you to buy DEAP NOW if you can get it.And if you have better appetite for risk. ! In addition, if you can buy a stock that was recently listed at only 33% premium above the listing price., I dont think it is bad considering the fundamentals/ and the general trend that follows newly listed shares. It is not Transcorp! My strategy is mostly to concentrate on one or two stocks to make a 'kill'. Consequently, I make sure I researched and source for those 'insider' information anyway I could. The depth of my loot depends on the frequency of such stocks and the duration of their positive gyration ![]() Happy investing to all. |
easimoni:Easimoni/Pumping777 Outstanding shares at the end of PO is 1B. The 1.5B will be the outstanding shares at the end of this year which include the anticipated 1 for 2 bonus. year ends sept 2007. bonus 1 for 2- . that makes the 2008 outstanding 1.5B. its pretty simple. This is no story. The result may be announced any moment from now. Information is costly. Procastination will cost you much more. I understand if we need to get the 'koko' of the matter before investing.so whats the element of risk in that? As I have promised before, I will let you guys know the outcome of today's meeting. I am sitting pretty already. 2M units. I am buying more after todays meeting.Thanks. |
Deap capital. According to the prospectus, total outstanding shares was 462,766,022. total shares on offer was 490,957,376. Although it was a bit oversubscribed. Not all the shares were alloted hence the reason for the returned money. The actual shares is 1B after allotment and not 1.5B, There is a provision for bonus of 1 for 2 this year, and a dividend of 13k if not more, Statement below is from an insider- MD had a meeting with staff last december and he promised to do the bonus . Apart from that, there is going to be another meeting this Monday-- expect the result end of this month, I will advice you guys to start buying if you can get it. If they announce the result, you may guess the direction of the stock. We all know it can be 'painfully' too late to buy then, anyway, will let you know the outcome of the meeting by Tuesday . |
@Tundysho. I am pretty sure you were allotted your 2000 units. You can go there in person to collect the certificate. just go with a means of identification, pen and paper in case they ask you to commit yourself in writing for the certificate. Dont forget to ask for your dividend warrant too. yes, the offer was 0versubscribed by approx 40%. I dont have any info on intercontinental PO. @omooba72 DSR paid N1.15 . expect another dividend in two weeks. @dele9000 You can go there in person to collect the certificate. just go with a means of identification, pen and paper in case they ask you to commit yourself in writing for the certificate. |
For all of us that took the good risk of investing in DSR, I will say a big congratulations for doing the right thing. As i have said when i started this thread, investments is all about risk. if skeptics have looked beyong the 'one man' tag and face the basic fundamentals of the company, they will be sitting on more than 135% returns in less than one month. Hopefully, the stock will hit N50 next week . This is base on another dividend to be declare in two weeks. Trust Nigerians, people wil react differently to debut of Obajana IPO this time. Dangote has proved a point using DSR as a lunch pad for subsequent and gradual introduction of his other companies on the NSE. It was a very smart move indeed. |
The share certificates are ready. I called the registrars yesterday (zenith registrars) to confirm my allotments and was told certificates are ready for collection. There is a little snag in the process. No allotments were credited to CSCS account as specified in the form. All allotments came in certificate form. You may get your certificate using the following methods: 1. collect the certificate( in person) on personal recognition and identification. 2. wait for them to post the certficate to you. 3. mandate your stockbroker to collect on your behalf ( you must write a letter with your authentic signature to use this method) Shares were alloted in full for 45000 units and below. I was not allotted my full subscription. so if you ask for 45000 units or less, congrats. Another good news. Expect another dividend by end of April 2007. Dangote told shareholders during the AGM last tuesday to expect another dividend in two weeks. it is quarterly dividend all the way , I dont expect the interest to wane in the shortest time. expecially with the expectation of another dividend in two weeks. If you subscribed to the IPO and you want to know details of allotment please call, Zenith Registrars Limited 1, Prince Ade Odedina Street Victoria Island Extension Lagos, Nigeria Tel: 234-1-2708930-4 |
Wema is a grossly undervalued stock. It should be sitting with the likes of PHB, FCMB. The problem is the delay in releasing results. The bank is already 2 quarter (results)behind schedule . If you can take risk, it is a potential goldmine that will soon be unleashed on the markets. The 2005 results showed a PAT of 2.2 Billion. while the ist qtr 2006 shows a profit of 1.6B. On an average profit base, that should translate to about 6Billion profit after tax all things being equal. The problem with the bank is the seemly lack of information and largely government - oriented shareholders base. Thank God this has been taken care of by CBN. It is a good stock to buy at the current price. |
well, i pray he does. But let him do it after the general elections. I know a lot of people will sell their properties for Obajana. Skeptics were proved wrong for not investing in DSR. people will be wiser this time. I am sure obaana IPO will come out later in the year or early 2008. |
Any stocks can be scarce if demand exceeds supply. it doesnt matter if it is a penny stock or blue chip. The insurance sector will produce millionaires this year if you invest wisely. As Seun has rightly suggested, keep your nose down and do your research before putting your money on them. i will say news help a lot in this respect. Example is the 7 or so insurance firms that won the NNPC accounts. if you are fortunate to get the news when it was announced some weeks ago, and you do a quick deligence report on the lucky firms, you should be siting on a tidy profits of 50%-100% by now. I invested in mutual benefit plc after reading about this in financial standard newspaper. If the firm is good enough for NNPC out of 57 firms that applied for the accounts, it should be good enough for my money. Now my problem is when to get out due to fear and greed. I plan to sell tomorrow. 60% or so profit is not bad for a 3 weeks job.it can translate to several thousands or million depend on what you put in. Get my gist, |
@Josho I think Transcorp was placed on suspension to prevent its shares from going further southwards. It seems yatchloads of the shares are getting into the market without buyers. The idea of waiting for two or more years before getting any returns on your investment dont seem to go well with most nigerian investors. Besides there are other stocks that can give much more within that time frame. transcorp is suppose to be a long term investment with bias towards capital appreciation. Getting on the train in hope of netting a quick profit in the short term will be a major investment mistake. @Cleric You can't get Dangote Sugar and Nascon now. Investors have not received their certificates. even if they do, they are not going to sell until the price notch up to N36-N40. you should look forward to further price appreciation in the weeks ahead. |
benue cement company |
I will put my money on BCC. The stock will go places 2007. Am betting the stock will hit N100 or more. If Dangote can fulfill his promise of N6.41k dividend, then it will cross the N100 mark. This type of stock (high dividend yield) is prime target for institutional investors. we will likely know what to expect by the time the company releases 07,Q2 result. hope they would have commissioned the second train of the cement plant by then. Dangote is another good stock that will return at least 50% next year. tradable volume or float will be relatively small due to institutional investors holdings. And when your tradable float is small, you better key in to stock like that. UBAplc will start to reap the effect of her business alliances come next year. hope this will tranlate into appropriate pricing of the stock . watch out for Zenith, Ovia might as well surprise us with bonus issue next year, its high time anyway, Diamondbank-- its a N10 -N12 stock. |
The much awaited end of year result of oceanic bank plc is out. From my previous analysis, two stocks(oceanic and UBA) have been among my favourites investment in 2006. A bonus of 1 for 4 and dividend of 42k are not bad for a stock that started the year at less than N6 a share. The capital appreciation alone is almost 150 percent. And I am sure there is room for further capital gain before the closure of their books. Our market is an emerging one. The return on investment (ROI) is unbelievable. If there are skeptics amongst us as regards wealth creating ability of stock investments in the medium and long term, it is now we need to reevaluate our stands and make good and clean money with your integrity intact. I doubt if there are many investments out there that can give you a profit of 150- 250% within a year in Nigeria without the almighty EFCC running after you. Some stocks actually performed better than that. The results are there for all to see. For my fellow investors, 2006 has turn out to be a good year if you had invested wisely, for newbies in the act of investment, please do not be afraid to ask questions before you act, and please go ahead and invest that money. You wont regret your decision. |
both seems like good offers. but my bet is on Dangote. I actually posted something on Dangote shares titled" Inpending Dangote IPO''. lots of people contributed to that thread. If you read through it, you can make up your mind on what to buy. Personally, I will go for Dangote. |
Fellow Nairalanders, For those that have invested in UBA shares earlier this year, the time of reward has come. The bank is paying a dividend of 1N per share and a bonus of 1 for 10. For savvy investors , the news is hardly a surprise. The reward could have been considerably higher but for merger induced costs that were written off from the books of the bank. For some of us that bought the shares when it was squarting pretty at N13- N14, We could hardly have made a better investment decision at the time( less than 4months ago). I have recommended UBA and Oceanic in my earlier post , and am glad the bank did not dissapoint investors. Lets see what oceanic will come out with! Happy investing! |
IPO is schedule to open Dec 18th. Proposed dividend is N1.50. Though i doubt if IPO subscribers will enjoy proposed dividend for the year. In the next year or two, only private placement subcribers will reap immediate gains. Infact they have started reaping already as the cumulative price appreciation is already hitting 200% (private placement was offered for ordinary share of N1 each at N6 per share) .IPO will probably come out between N10 - N12. |
I believe your customer is anyone that contributes to the growth and net profits of your business. In this context, I will identify two categories of customers: active and passive customer.active customers are direct consumers of your products/service while the passive ones are mainly the referential customers. A customer is someone that is either directly or indirectly responsible for every single kobo am earning from my business. Business transactions that have been consumated directly doesnt have to be a consequent result of direct negotiations. |
I assume you have 1000units of zenith bank share ''certificate''/ at the current price, thats about 23k. how come you want to sell for 30,000. anybody could get same unit for less in the secondary market with an added liquidity advantage. Your best bet is going through a stockbroker. Register the certificate via cscs and sell. |
@hbrednic, To further allay your fear over the union bank certificate, here is a excerpt from ''moneywise'' on the same issue. ''Union Bank of Nigeria Plc - Public Offer & Rights Issue. Posted Monday, November 13, 2006 Dear Editor. Many of us bought Shares in Union Bank of Nigeria Plc Public Offer & Rights Issue in December 2005. In November 2006, no Share Certificate(s) have being received from Union Bank of Nigeria Plc Registrars. This is despite repeated request for these shares. The above development is in marked comparison with other Banks and Institutions who within two to three months of a public offer, distributes the Share Certificates. It would be appreciated if your paper can assist us to make inquiries from Union Bank of Nigeria Plc especially when their share prices have continued to drop in the stock market. Thank you. Ehijeagbon O. Oserogho, BL, ACTI Business Solicitor & Notary Public ehioserogho@hotmail.com all the best. |
@HBREDNIC The late release of union bank ipo certificate is not peculiar to your case. Its thesame with me. The certificates are just being released piecemeal. I know lots of investors that have not got theirs. so dont be alarmed, I am sure you will get it. Please note that union bank case is just peculiar , its not thesame with other banks.zenith did their IPO after union bank and the certificates have since been released . Concerning intercontinental, I will advise you to buy if you want to. The MD, Erastus Akingbola, has promised prompt release of certificates to investors early next year. He also assured investors that they will benefit from the dividend for the CURRENT financial year ending feb 28th, 2007. since you will be buying an IPO, you only have your 10% transfer induced cost to lose. IPOs are generally issued at a discounted price anyway, so you are still getting a bargain of more than 10%. I cant predict the movement of Intercontinental price after the completion of the IPO,since a lot of reseach firm are putting a ''sell'' order in the short term and ''buy '' order for the long term. However, I am positive you will gain your 10% back in no time if you put your money in Dangote. This is the first time they will be coming to the market, and I can tell you the market and investors will respond very well to the proposed dividend of N1. Buttom line: BUY DANGOTE, INSPITE OF THE 10% REDUCTION IN THE VALUE OF YOUR MONEY. YOU WILL GAIN IT BACK FASTER THAN YOU THINK. all the best. |
