cost average is a good strategy always. My first involvement with BTC was back in 2016 . I have gone through different cycles in my journey with crypto.. what works for me is to essentially trade . buy low and sell to make profit . I also convert some of these profits to BTC and transfer to a cold wallet. I will encourage any crypto enthusiast to invest in a reputable hardware wallet for extra protection . Trezor and keepkey are good products.

I have a lot to say on this subject . My previous post on the subject was deleted .

Greetings great people..... My first time commenting on this trend. Received my CPR February and have already booked my flight for 15th of May to edmonton, Alberta. Fact is I don't have any relative or friend in Canada and this would be my first time outside west Africa. Your friend can check her account/profile on CIC's website. She can view her visa/ counterfoil and expiry dates. I am sure her processed passport is in lagos awaiting collection .

APPLICATION SUBMISSION/PAYMENT – NOVEMBER 21.

We didn’t enter the pool until November due to delay in Madam’s pharmacy verification by PEBC. I have earlier updated her PEBC profile with a new Canadian address to fast-track receipt of the ECA from PEBC.

We used the ECA delay to plan adequately and get all documents in place. Our medical timing is fallout of these plans.

POF: (bank account + no objection letter). I used funds from one of my bank accounts for entire POF. As the accompany spouse, I wrote letter of no objection. No transfer was done to the PA’s account and no statement of account was uploaded. However, I got the Proof of funds letter in CIC format from my bank.

WORK EXPERIENCE: My wife got the work experience letter in CIC format. As an accompany spouse, I couldn’t get my company to approve work experience letter in CIC ‘s format. I uploaded the following instead: The request letter I wrote to HR; the response letter from HR (request was denied anyway). I also included promotion letters, pay stubs. Please note I have only worked for one company since I graduated from University. My documentation was pretty concise for this reason.

LETTER OF EXPLANATION: None. I tried to keep the application as simple as possible. So I didn’t see a need to write a letter of explanation.

Travel Histories: We have multiple travel histories to all major countries including Canada. One of my children is also a US citizen.

In particular reference to Canada, I have just renewed one of my daughters Canada visit visa in June 2018 .It will expire in 2023. So I included the UCIs in our applications. I guess they will probably cancel the visit visa though.

Siblings: My brother is a Canadian citizen. We claimed the statutory 15 points.
I also have a sister who is a PR holder. I once posted a story of my sister whose application was cancelled due to non-acceptance of ICAN certificate presented by her husband. You all knew how the ‘protest’ letter sent by her husband got the decision upturned culminating in the successful approval of their application.

Biometrics was done at VFS Lekki on December 31, 2018.

I am a member of the NOV AOR whatapp group created by ‘RAMJ’. The group is quite active with constant engagement and banters on wide range of immigration related topics. I raised our first webform on January 11, 2019 to enquire about the VO treating my case, as this was a hot topic on the platform. CIC responded to my query on JAN 15 that our file is being treated at CIO (central intake office in Sydney, Nova Scotia; ‘‘the responsible office is currently verifying if our application meets the eligibility requirement’’.

Jan 21, 2019, I received the famous ‘ How to get a job in Canada form ‘. Again, in reference to our NOV 2018 whatapp group, we have had discussion on the significance or otherwise of this particular letter to the whole Canadian immigration journey. Some reported, and rightly so, that their files were transferred to another visa office, mostly the infamous ACCRA visa office a day after receiving the letter according to their GCMC feedback.

I started writing this story on receipt of eAOR , Nov 21, 2018 . It is humbling to conclude the final chapter in Jan 23, 2019 – 63 days post AOR. We thank God.

@Dreew, my brother -in- law was already down at this period. He that is down need fear no fall. In this context, he wrote and got CIC decision upturned. Whether this will be adopted going forward remain to be seen. All PR hopefuls are not on nairaland . None of us can rightfully claim my case as the first and only successful ICAN based application. In this journey, it is better to eliminate any grey spot that might cause issues in your application. Ifeoma77 is only asking you to be cautious because my experience is totally unique unlike other approved/documented criteria ; This is a wise approach especially if you are about to embark on this journey .

I am aware of a non-nairalander with same ICAN/BSC combo. I will encourage the person to share his experience post approval/rejection.


Why use ICAN when you can go for generally accepted ATS ? Mitigate your risk .

Good morning all . so a friend of mine got PPR few hours ago with a passport submission request within 15 days . Two items were flagged in his PPR mail . His passport as PA will expire in march 2019 & medical will expire in June 2019. It means he must land before february with his current passport- an option he is not willing to take.With a new passport, he can as well postpone his landing till april or may 2019.. My question is what specific document will he raise in order to submit a new passport for his PPR considering the passport request deadline? .

Yes . You are required to do another biometrics for PR application . Although your visit visa biometrics is valid for 10years ,You must do another biometrics for PR .

They didn't ask for passport photos although i went with some. The are going to take your pictures with their camera . Its part of the process . I did not have ICU or IME no too. Just tell them you don't have it. It is not mandatory . The medical was a bit streessful for us as the immigration portal was misbehaving that day. In fact , they couldn't print the e-medical forms for us . It was sent to my email on monday though . Go in with your receipt and passports. They will sort you out .

Doesnt matter . you can send a mail to them anytime . if they haven't sent it to your local address, you can change the delivery address anytime . make sure they acknowledge your mail though . they use 2 days at least to acknowledge mail . PEBC ways are somehow . don't assume anything . send mail and be sure you get response .

I can't resist commenting on your post . I do hope you can make the right decision based on what I am writing now. My close relative got ITA and submitted all documents in December 2017. He got in at 452 or so. This included additional 15 points from my brother who is a canadian citizen. After a long wait of almost 9 months, the application was rejected. He used 2 or more certificate option based on his ICAN verification and BSC degree. In the rejection letter , the immigration officer explained the ICAN certificate was not tenable. This is the exact extract from the rejection letter : '' Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) invited you to apply for permanent resident status based on the qualifications you claimed in your Express Entry profile. In your Express Entry profile you indicated that you obtained a Certificate of Membership from The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria. According to your Educational Credential Assessment (ECA), completed by World Education Services (WES), this credential is not comparable to a completed Canadian education credential. Therefore, this credential does not qualify under the Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) program.
This change in your qualifications resulted in a loss of points that brought your rank below the lowest ranking person who was invited to apply in your round of invitation, under the Express Entry Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). I do note that your ECA lists your Bachelor of Science degree from *********University, which is comparable to a completed Canadian education credential, and for which you obtained the allotted number of CRS points. But unfortunately, you still failed to obtain the minimum CRS score required, as your credential from The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria is unable to be used under the FSW program.
As I have found that you no longer possess the qualification on the basis of which you were ranked under an instruction given under paragraph 10.3(1)(h), you no longer meet the requirements of Section 11.2 of Act.
Following an examination of your application, I am not satisfied that you meet the requirements of the Act and Regulations for the reasons explained above. I am therefore refusing your application.
You will receive a refund of the Right of Permanent Residence Fee that you have paid''.

Naturally , he was devastated .However , he wrote an appeal letter where he compared his ICAN certificate to similar global certificate . This is an extract from his appeal letter :

Evidence 1:
According to World Educational Services Canada (WES) evaluation of my ICAN certificate, it was
determined that my ICAN certificate is equivalent to a 2‐year Canadian program, but it was not stated
if it was equivalent to an undergraduate or a graduate program. I am writing to let you know that ICAN
certification is a graduate level program which requires an undergraduate degree as a prerequisite.
This is similar to the Chartered Professional Accountant Canada Professional Education Program CPA
PEP) which is a 2‐year graduate‐level academic program which also requires an undergraduate degree
as a prerequisite (https://www.cpacanada.ca/en/become‐a‐cpa/pathways‐to‐becoming‐a‐cpa).
Hence, based on this information, I believe ICAN certification is equivalent to the Chartered
Professional Accountant Canada (CPA) certification.

Evidence 2:
ICAN and CPA belong to the International Federation of Accountant (http://www.ifac.org/about‐
ifac/membership/member‐organizations‐and‐country‐profiles). This makes ICAN a recognised
professional accounting program worldwide, and an equivalent certification to CPA.
In conclusion, I believe my undergraduate degree and ICAN certification qualify me for “Two or More
Certificates, Diplomas or Degree of which one must be for a program of three years”.

His appeal letter was ACCEPTED and he was asked to do a new medical. HE RECEIVED PPR TODAY !!!!

i wouldn't know if this experience will trigger a change in CIC view/policy concerning ICAN certificate . Action of one courageous person can change the world. Its not always good to believe anything just because someone said so. If he hasn't written his appeal, he will still be waiting for ATS verification as widely believed and advised by most applicants .

Hello family.
I am very confused now and would need help please on ECA for ICAN. I received my ECA report in January and have been living with the impression that this would be seen as an additional certification. But I have been getting differing opinions on this with many saying that this is not tenable for ECA purpose. Please I need your thoughts on this. I have also copied my ECA report (edited) to enable the gurus in the house assess. I have attached an edited version of the ECA. The summary section only shows BSc even though the analysis section shows ICAN as 2 years.

Good morning people . I am sure the case I am about to present is unique .It is my close relative's PR application. He got his ITA and subsequently applied late last year but was refused after 9 months due to ICAN/ BSC points - He claimed '2 or more certs' using ICAN and BSC. as we all know, the CRS dropped below CUT_OFF for his group as CIC rejected ICAN and subsequently demote him to BSC only ( as explained in refusal letter) . He was advised ,after consultation, to process the ATS and BSC in order to claim two or more cert. He also wrote to appeal the decision.

So early yesterday, he got a letter requesting for payment of right of permanent resident fee (RPRF -$490) within 7 days . He was also asked to do a new family medical test within 30 days . I must mention that they have refunded the RPRF Fees paid during the initial ( unsuccessful) application . what does this mean ? Are they going against their own rules ? The applicant is confused as he doesn't' know whether to start packing ; or wait another long drawn out period .

Finally, he has initiated a new WES verification for the ATS certificate as earlier mentioned in order to reapply again ; We all know this might take time . I am just surprised at the turn of events . Maybe , just maybe, we might have a case of exception rather than norm here... Please note his CRS is slightly below 440 -( last cutoff ) with BSC only . This has effectively eliminated possibility of making yesterday's round of invitation .

Apperently while submitting my application i was supposed to include an ECA report request form for CIS but i didnt. i had to send that application seperate, so if i can have them mail that copy to a friend in canada it may even reach me before this one they mailed already.

unfortunately, you will need to have patience . PEBC uses regular mail to send results. So you are at the mercy of your naija local courier system. You just have to wait until you receive it . I have to change my delivery address to a canada local address just to shorten the time. We expect the ECA to be out next week .

My Only problem is the soft copy of my ECA had been mailed to me since Sept 10th and uptil now I haven't received it. ( PEBC does not upload ECA RESULT online you have to wait for the soft copy to get to you.) Can I use my PEBC ID no for the ECA report no and quote September 10th as the date?
