PoliticsTrip To A Poor Town Of Prominent Men -pictures by ebucha(op):
Hello fellow Nairalanders, I recently travelled to Otukpo, the "Mega City" of the Idoma tribe of Benue state for the yuletide and was grossly perplexed at the alarming level of poverty and under-development. Otukpo is the headquarters of the Zone C senatorial district of Benue State with the current President of the Senate, Mr. David Mark as its senator since 1999. Prominent Nigerians of Idoma Extraction who reside Permanently or partly (own property) in this poverty ravaged "Mega City" popularly known as "Texas" due to the scorching sun, smoky and dusty clime include; The current senate President, Mr. David Mark ( Former gov. of Niger & minister of telecommunication), Gen. Lawrence Onoja (former gov. of Plateau & Katsina), Chief Ameh Ebuteh (Former Senate President), Mr. Abba Moro (current Interior Minister), Gen Chris Garba ( former Bauchi state gov, chief of staff 1998-1999), Chief Jerry Agada (Former Minister of State; Education), Mr. Audu Ogbe (former PDP national chairman), Gen. G. Ejiga, Mr. Obande Obeya (The then OBJ campaign Manager of Middle-Belt), Chief Stephen Lawani ( current Deputy gov.), Engr Benson Aboonu, Sir Abu Obe, Chief B.O. Attah. Top celebrities and legends like Bonkos Igwe, Tuface Innocent Idibia, Gabriel Amanyi AKA Terry G, Black Face, Ada Ameh, Sixfoot plus etc. Evidently, Otukpo is house to a good number of past and present prominent men, women, public servants and celebrities. Apart from the fact that residence of this sleazy "City" scrounges to feed, the roads and streets are in a moribund state. The dusty roofs and walls are facts to buttress my statement. Over 70% of the residence of Otukpo share pit latrine with neigbhours and uses unhealthy wells as their major source of drinking water. I am most saddened and traumatized because these elite with all their political clout and financial wherewithal have vehemently refused to leap-frog this "town" from its present state of squalor to the much envisaged affluence. This peace loving people have waited stoically for development, but this lofty vision remains a mirage. It is against this backdrop that I wish to bring where these "empty" elites dwell to the public domain. I know some myopic and disillusioned dudes and wench of my Idoma extraction whose sense of reasoning have being distorted and constricted by protracted pride will flood this thread with rebuttal and vitriolic attacks on me, but before you do that, think of your poor mother farming in Edumoga forest, toiling day and night in the now comatose rice mill. Up-loaded pictures will be in this order. 1, Railway Crossing 2, Enugu Road roundabout 3, Water Board

God bless you all.

A book written by who? Whites I guess? To taunt and subvert Ebony Africans and to distort the thoughts of the gullible ones. Its good to read, but its best to "think".

The most dangerous man on earth is a legally armed man with zero temper management and zero knowledge of weaponry. Fellow niralanders it is so unfortunate that these are the attributes of a typical Nigerian police. The site is not a criminal's den, a sane security operative will put his riffle on "safe", then others will stay far away from the civilan and mediating security operative ready for action in case of any move to disarm his colleague. It takes three basics steps to discharge bullet from a riffle, so there is nothing like accidental discharge in the Army, Navy and Airforce. All I can say now is RIP, all I can do is to diseminate this News. God bless the Nigerian Army.

We African are the ones debasing ourselves. A french man can never insult a fellow french man for not speaking fluent spanish, but here, we so much glorify the queen of England that fluent English is misconstrued for intelligence. If Germans, the fastest growing economy in europe and china, the worlds fastest growing economy had dissipated much time on Flawless english, I doubt if they will be where they are today. I know my fellow country men will crucify me here for this statement, but as you type on your device, remember that 90% of the components of your device are mathematical derivatives/programmes.

Yinkaolu: Sir Ebucha! You have spoken well but we need to take the right step at the right time. Refer more people and let's see the willingness. Then and then, we launch out. As a matter of fact, this is the first communication channel and then we will still get to move further on all social media and other media forms. Thanks. You are really needed here!

They will just wake up at mid-semester and go on strike regardless of the impacts on students. They are simply looking for money for Xmas. The only looser at the end of the day will be the students, I therefore urge students to equally fast and pray that ASUU spend the yuletide cash-strapped and the FG in disgrace.

Yes, the time is now. This is a matter of life and dead, we have to make things work now. Politics is not something to retire into as we have here, it is a way of life, a noble service to our nation. COUNT ME IN. Our next line of action should be to establish a medium for communication, planning and strategizing. What do u people think?

GEJ is a good man, but lack the requisite knowledge of Nigerian history, polity and the mathematics involve in good governance. Honestly his actions and decisions really baffles me. My country is grappling with the effects of terrorism/insecurity, yet no minister of defence. The education sector is in quagmire, yet no active minister of education, but a supervising one. Well, I had always believed in the dictum that says " A lion leading a million sheep is better than a sheep leading a million lions".

Billyonaire: Global Warming isn't Conspiracy, it is real, what is Conspiracy is telling Africans to plant more trees, and live in forests, in order to recycle and replenish the planet for the developed countries to continue their mad industrialization.

Africa is not going to be the "replenisher" of a planet that has been bastardized by industrial complexes. We are tired.

Other nations have LAW makers, our nation has fLAW makers. This is where these legislaTHIEVES got it wrong. This bill will make head lines in social media and even attract more vitrolic attacks than ever. If this is an atempt to constrict the only mechanism (media) Nigerians use to unequivocally remind them of their failures, then all I can say is " They should go-and-die!"

Senators seek seven-year jail term for social media criticsBy Comrade Godwin Ameh on December 5, 2013

Members of the Upper Chamber of the National Assembly are proposing a bill seeking to convict social media critics in Nigeria.

The bill has reportedly passed a second reading on the floor of the Senate, and if finally passed into law, will ensure that any social media critic found guilty will go behind bars for seven years.

The joint Senate Committees on Judiciary, Human Rights and legal matters, Drugs, Narcotics and Financial Crimes led by Senator Umaru Dahiru (PDP, Sokoto), yesterday organised a one-day public hearing on the bill for an act to provide for the prohibition and punishment for electronic fraud and crime in all electronic transactions in Nigeria.

The Bill is to minimise some provocative criticisms against the government of Nigeria and its leaders, especially President Goodluck Jonathan, who has been constantly attacked by Nigerians on social media platforms.

Section 13, subsection 3 of the bill proposes that: “Anyone who intentionally propagates false information that could threaten the security of the country or that is capable of inciting the general public against the government through electronic message shall be guilty of an offence, and upon conviction shall be sentenced to seven years imprisonment or N5 million (fine).” http://dailypost.com.ng/2013/12/05/senators-seek-seven-year-jail-term-social-media-critics/?utm_source=&utm_medium=facebook&utm_campaign=senators-seek-seven-year-jail-term-social-media-critics.

The system is so messed up that one can hardly secure a job mostly in govt organizations/parasta with out a "god-father". Securing a job after school now is either by "miracle" or by "god fatherism". Today graduates with out an "oga-at-the-top" are willing to do anything just to get employed, tomorow it might be revolution, who knows? Obviously our public officers don't know the origin of the Arab spring that even sang "that" great Gadaffi. They should give him 20 strokes of the cain and let him go, simple. After all 85% of the cadets in Nigerian Defence Academy are kids of our theiving politicians.

Varsity graduate forges Gov’s letter-head paper
on november 29, 2013 at 4:43 pm in news
Lafia – The State Security Services (SSS) said on Friday in Lafia that it had arrested a university graduate (names withheld) for allegedly forging the official letter-head paper of the Nasarawa State Governor’s Office.
Mr Ngobiowei Awoikiega, the Assistant Director (Security) of the service in the state, said that the suspect was a graduate of Business Administration from the Nasarawa State University, Keffi.
He said the suspect was arrested in Akwanga, headquarters of Akwanga Local Government Area of the state by operatives of the service following a tip-off.
Awoikiega alleged that the suspect used the forged letter-head paper and subsequently forged the signature of the Secretary to the State Government, Zainab Abdulmumin, to introduce himself and one other person whose name could not be disclosed with the intent of gaining employment at the Federal Medical Centre, Keffi.
According to him, the suspect has made useful statements on the alleged offence.
“Unknown to officials of the Federal Medical Centre, Keffi, the management honoured the letter printed on the fake letter-headed paper from the Governor’s Office by offering a provisional employment to his (suspect’s) client.”
Ngobiowei advised the general public to avoid falling victims of the activities of persons with fraudulent intentions.
Fielding questions from journalists, the suspect admitted committing the offence, saying that he did it because he could not secure employment since 2009 after his graduation from the university. (NAN) http://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/11/varsity-graduate-forges-govs-letter-head-paper/
