Soloter: its disheartening for people to be this ungrateful. these are people who are virtual majority in a state where they have only 9 lgs out of 23 courtesy of the man they are presently criticising. David Mark has placed these people in various ministries and parastatals of the fg. what else do they want?
sorry for you.

N255m cars update: Oduah fights for her job; lodges in same hotel with President Jonathan in JerusalemBy Ameh Comrade Godwin on October 26, 2013@amcomradeTweet Pin It
In what many would tag insensitivity to harsh realities, President Goodluck Jonathan may eventually sweep under the carpet, the controversy currently hanging around the neck of the Minister of Aviation, Stella Oduah over the illegal acquisition of two BMW armoured cars.

According to Saharareporters, Ms. Oduah who was queried by Jonathan over the ongoing crisis in the Aviation sector is currently rocking the Holy City of Israel with his Excellency and other government personalities, trying to mend the broken walls.

According to the online media, embattled Oduah was listed as one of the 54 officials that travelled alongside President Jonathan to Israel for this year’s Christian Pilgrimage.

It was gathered that Jonathan however gave her the permission to travel ahead of the delegation 24 hours early, under the pretext that she would be signing the Bilateral Air Services Agreement (BASA) between Nigeria and Israel.

The Minister was also listed as one those expected to follow the President to a meeting with President Mahmoud Abbas in the Occupied Palestinian territory, also on October 29.

However, findings revealed that the BASA agreement would not be signed until October 29, following which Jonathan will return to the country.

Further investigation also revealed that since arriving the Holy City, Jonathan and several officials, including Ms. Oduah, were lodged in the same hotel, King David Hotel in Jerusalem, which gave the Minister the privilege of having one on one meting with Jonathan.

It was learnt that the reason Jonathan decided to set up a “probe panel” was to slow down the situation so that Mrs. Oduah would still remain in his cabinet.

An insider hinted that President Jonathan has little or no regard for the probe going on at the House of Representatives, calling them “hungry people.” http://dailypost.com.ng/2013/10/26/n255m-cars-update-oduah-fights-for-her-job-lodges-in-same-hotel-with-president-jonathan-in-jerusalem/?utm_source=&utm_medium=facebook&utm_campaign=n255m-cars-update-oduah-fights-for-her-job-lodges-in-same-hotel-with-president-jonathan-in-jerusalem

Idoma youth plan mass protest against David MarkBy Ameh Comrade Godwin on October 25, 2013@amcomradeTweet Pin It
Senate President, David Mark may suffer the heaviest blow of his political career come 2015 as youth from the Idoma enclave are set to hit the streets in protest against what they have termed his empty leadership role in Benue State, and in Idoma land to be precised.

DailyPost can authoritatively report that the protest, which would be convened by the Idoma National Youth Congress, INAYCO, would go across the nine local government in the Benue Zone C Senatorial District.

It was reliably gathered that the protest is not unconnected with Mark’s endless promises of the creation of Apa State as well as the ongoing negotiations and plans to make his son, Tunde Mark a lawmaker in 2015. The Idoma youth are also unhappy with the Senate President, having failed to make a meaningful impact on the Idoma people after almost 16 years in the upper chamber of the National Assembly.

Our correspondent stumbled on some of the publicity materials which would be used during the protest. Inscriptions on the placards include, ‘Gadafi Must go’, ‘enough is enough Mark’,’ Idoma youth say no to David Mark, we no longer want you’. ‘No Apa, no road, we are tired of your promises,’ et al.

A member of the Congress informed DailyPost that they decided to stage the protest after several efforts to see the Okpokpowulu as he is fondly called to register their disappointment failed.

“The issue here is that Idoma youth are tired of Mark and his empty promises and I think it’s high time he stepped aside for a purposeful leader. A leader who would attend to the plight of our people. We are working towards recalling him. He is not representing well. He has not done any of the things he promised us up till this day.

“He (Mark) keeps using Apa State as a political gimmick during every election and we are yet to see the state after almost 16 years,” he lamented.

Continuing, the source who pleaded anonymity told our correspondent that they would prefer to remain without a leader, instead of Mark imposing his son on the Idoma people in 2015.

Asked when the protest would take off, the source who claimed to be a former President, SUG of one of the institutions (name withheld) said it would kick-off first week of December, starting from Otukpo, Benue state.

“The protest would have one of the big singers from Idoma land in attendance as disclosed by our source. http://dailypost.com.ng/2013/10/25/idoma-youth-plan-mass-protest-against-david-mark/?utm_source=&utm_medium=facebook&utm_campaign=idoma-youth-plan-mass-protest-against-david-mark

Nigerian-Americans demand apology from U.S. Senator over distasteful remarks
on october 24, 2013 at 10:44 am in news
New York –  Members of the Christian Association of Nigerian-Americans (CANAN) have called on Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas to make a formal correction by retracting his disparaging remarks made about Nigerians.
According to local American media, Cruz, while taking a political swipe at the computer problems of the Affordable Care Act in the U.S, made unpleasant remarks against Nigerians.
“You may have noticed that all the Nigerian email scammers have become a lot less active lately.
“They all have been hired to run the Obamacare website,” the media quoted Cruz as saying on Monday in Houston.
CANAN in a statement signed by its Executive Director, Laolu Akande said that the US senator had maligned all hardworking, decent and outstanding Nigerian-Americans.
CANAN noted that Nigerian-Americans had added value and brought goodwill to their different communities, especially in Texas, with the largest concentration of Nigerian-Americans in the country.
“Although his office did confirm this, explaining that it was just a joke, CANAN finds it appalling that the good name and reputation of Nigerian-Americans is what the Senator can joke with whimsically.
“This is completely unacceptable. CANAN does not intend at this point to delve into the very nature of global and international scammers.
“We will only say this condemnable practice is not limited to any one country based on available information and research.
“We consider it an insult that a Senator who should be representing the people of his state could turn against some of his very own constituents in what is clearly a reckless and offensive remark.
“There is only one decent option open to Senator Cruz – an unconditional and full apology.
“We will be restrained at this point in order to allow for a respectable response from him,’’ Akande said.
CANAN, however, appealed to its teeming members drawn from over 1,000 local parishes in the U. S, several professional and ethnic groups, to await further developments. (NAN) http://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/10/nigerian-americans-demand-apology-from-u-s-senator-over-distasteful-remarks/

ASUU strike: Resume now or get fired – Suswam threatens BSU lecturers

By on September 25, 2013

Benue State Governor, Gabriel Suswam, Tuesday ordered striking lecturers of the Benue State University, BSU, Makurdi to return to class or get fired.

Lecturers of the institution are currently on strike in solidarity with the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, which commenced nationwide indefinite strike since June, 2013.

However, Suswam said the state government was not owing them, hence no need to have gone on strike in the first place.

He directed the management of the university to reopen the institution with immediate effect or risk losing their job.

Suswam made this declaration at the Government House, Makurdi during an urgent meeting with the management of the university, led by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Charity Angya.

The VC was represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor, administration, Prof. Nicholas Ada.

He said, “it is important that you as management come because you have refused to reopen the university. I am going to call the Governing Council and insist that they open the university, but the first thing I am going to do is that you will not have your salaries paid beginning from this month and any staff who refuses to come back to work would have his or her appointment terminated and nobody is going to collect salary arrears. And so, I needed you people to know before you hear it announced on the radio”.

“I am also aware that there was a court case that was instituted against the university by the state government over strike, and we are going to take that case up and make you face it because we have completely run out of patience and there is no basis while the children will continue to be on strike,” Suswam said. http://dailypost.com.ng/2013/09/25/ASUU-strike-resume-now-or-get-fired-suswam-threatens-bsu-lecturers/?utm_source=&utm_medium=facebook&utm_campaign=ASUU-strike-resume-now-or-get-fired-suswam-threatens-bsu-lecturers

EducationRe: Group Sues ASUU Over Strike by ebucha:
The problem with ASUU is that they go on strike when ever it pleases them with out considering the students they received fee from. A student pays the stipulated fee for a section/ semester, register his/her courses for the section/semester thereby going into a one section/semester contract with the school. ASUU wakes up when ever it pleases and go on strike thus, breaching the agreement they signed with the student at the beggining of an academic section. I'm not against them, but against their "selfish" disposition to students.

I think some people have highjacked this association for selfish interests. They want the federal government to go on borrowing so that they can open their wide, smelling hypocritic mouth and say that the president is clueless.valid point.
