What is the validity of a Nigerian police certificate from the U.S Embassy's perspective?

Hey VO, I got this quick question....I have encountered difficulty in getting a police certificate from Nigeria since I haven't lived there for about 3 years; just an heads up that prior to leaving Nigeria in 2012, I got a police certificate but it is expired now. Also, I visited Nigeria dec 2014 for my wedding and spent about 30 days. I spoke to a representative at NVC who advised that I should contact the US embassy in Nigeria for directions (and any possible option).....I will quote the NVC website's regarding obtaining police certificates from Nigeria for non-resident applicants "Applicants outside the country are advised that mailed requests for police certificates are not an effective method of obtaining the records. It is recommended that applicants outside Nigeria obtain a police certificate upon their next visit, or enlist the assistance of a friend or relative able to physically visit the Deputy Inspector General." That being said, I don't have any close family member living in Nigeria at the moment. On a second thought, are scanned fingerprints accepted? I honestly do not know where to go from here and I don't see myself visiting Nigeria anytime soon.

Sorry 4 responding late! I included tax clearance certificate in my package, as a matter of fact, I used 3yrs cert. 2010,2011 and 2012 certificates. If u av ur siblings docs @ hand, include it. I included my siblings birth certificates.

Normally the instructions on how to go abt these things are well spelt out on each sch admission page ,so i suggest u check ur intended sch page and do as instructed and not follow wat another applicant to another sch did .[/quote]Well said!!!

I concur. I dnt think photocopies r acceptable. Infact, my skool insisted that it must b in a sealed envelope and signed across.

I applied as a corper, submitted all my posting letters including khaki pics. I got my visa a week after my passing out. I think its better to apply as a corper rather than being unemployed #my thoughts#. however, I wrote a cover letter stating when I will conclude the mandatory program

Its affidavit of support that is endorsed in court. This is different from the letter of sponsorship,however I drafted both letters. I went on the internet and saw different formats, with that I was able to draft mine.

They only take applications from Canadians and Permanent Residents. I just got my PRV here in Nigeria but will be landing by december/january. @ all, Is there a special format for affidavit of support?? Cos I was at the ikeja high court yesterday and they didnt have any, so I just drafted something with the help of a legal aid there....

I drafted mine personally but to it to the court to b endorsed.firstly, state the name of the person sponsoring you, d address, occupation, no of dependent children. State categorically if d person is going 2 b responsible for transportation, feeding n miscellaneous expenses

It was sent in pdf format, I printed it and included it to my supporting documents

I replied you oh!!! I said u shld wait 4 the hard copy instead of using the pdf format. So CDHC wuldnt come up wit a silly excuse like "not a bonafide student" . My acceptance letter read sept. 6th, you should contact ur dept abt dat. Cheers

I think i already know where i got it all wrong and like i said , This year you've got to be sponsored by a relative (immediate relative). Parents or siblings and if uncle , you just must prove your relationship with every documents available..

I won't be reapplying simply because in less than 2yrs i should be called for interview to receive permanent residence @d US embassy, parents and siblings are citizens and one of them already filled their papers for me sometime ago and tracking its progress it appears they're very fast about the processing as it stand and you'll know exactly when they'll make a decision on your filling.... You can checkout www.uscis.gov to know more about this awesome thing...
