FoodRe: Warning: Sweet Sensation Resturants by ebumowa(f): 11:30am On Nov 04, 2009
Anytime I went home, I would eat suya (from almost anywhere), mama 'put', roasted corn and anything you can think of; but when I ate at Sweet Sensation, I had a horrid case of food poisoning twice.

There is no competition, facebook is better; I love Nairaland but are you seriously trying to compare the two?

@bawomolo

As someone once said to me about when she decided she wanted kids "I went to the club, looked for a guy and f**ked him!". Purely mechanical, one does not need to be attracted to a person to have sexual intercourse with them.

@gamine
They haven't found the 'straight' gene either. XY, XX and other mutations determine gender not sexual orientation.

@trekkie:
Except for in the case of adoption (and since we are not talking about it), homosexual can have kids biologically. Why should homosexuals accept they can't have offsprings because they can't be impregnated by their partners and vice versa when science has solved that issue? Of course, we know that our partners (or spouses) cannot 'impregnate' us, so we use other means to have offsprings. By the way, some homosexuals still do it the old-fashioned way. wink

@e4emma:
Knowing one homosexual who told you a story, doesn't give an insight into homosexuality at all.

Being gay does not mean "thumbing noses" at straight people, we are just attracted to persons of the same sex; I am not gay because I want to "thumb my nose" at straight people. As a person living in the modern way, you shouldn't call childbirth a benefit of only straight people, as long as one does not have anything wrong with their reproductive organs, they can produce offsprings. In my opinion, sexual orientation has nothing to do with one's desire for offsprings.

@ebun
let's focus on desire then. my thought is that if you are hardwired(created ) to desire only same sex relationships, should you not also be hardwired not to expect to have children since gay relationships cannot produce them?
to talk about the barren woman is off point. remember the barren woman may be in a relationship that to all intents and purposes should be able to produce children. so for her to desire/expect children is perfectly natural but the homosexual is in a relationship that cannot produce them.

sorry i don't get the reference to mothers who commit infantide. is it that even though they kill their children, they can still desire to have more? my question to you are these mothers you are referring to hetero or homo sexual. remember to keep the focus on sexual orentation and desire to have kids.
at weekend  smileydon't work too hard!
Hey,
My point is that most livings things desire offsprings, whether they are gay or straight. Sexual desire has nothing to do with one's desire for offsprings. Talking about the barren woman, who says homosexual don't have relationships with the hope of having kids someday even though it cannot be achieved having sexual intercourse with that person; since also the barren woman or impotent man cannot produce them naturally. My point about infaniticide is that most living organisms desire and produce offsprings and I believe it has nothing to do with sexual orientation or ability to care for those offsprings, its the continuation of life.

Sorry for late reply, had a lot to do this weekend.
Desire and ability are two different things. Why would God want to stop a person's desire to have offsprings? Should a women who is barren not desire to have offsprings? What about human mothers that commit infanticide, molest and abuse their offsprings? Nature is filled with evidence of animals that kill their offsprings, why should they still have the desire seems killing their offsprings is a non-issue for them.

Sorry for late reply.
First, I don't understand what being gay has to do with desire to have kids.
The ablility to have kids is a functional issue of nature not really emotional.

I already answered it, most Christians believe they are 'hot' Christians either its true or not. I said I am not a nominal Christian but its only God that knows either I am 'hot' or not.

As for my asking for the definition of man and woman in the bedroom, I am talking about their 'roles in bedroom' not asking you to describe what happens in bed.

I said people that tend to 'label' themselves, I was talking about hypocrites. 'By their fruits ye shall know them', meaning people should be able to look at a Christian and know that is a Bible-believing Child of God; not by that person telling everyone and thumbing in everyone's face.

I don't go 'religion shopping', I am happy being a Christian and I am not looking for a religion that pleases me.

As for my preference for gay threads, everyone has interest, don't they.

@trekkie:
Lol, I didn't call you senseless. I called the argument senseless (re-read it).

If you were talking about being in the bedroom, I now really believe you don't know anything about gay or lesbian sex. Please what is your definition of man or woman in the bedroom?

As for choices, I knew I was gay years before I was with a girl. I didn't need to have sex with a girl to confirm my 'gayness'.

I have found that most people that tend to 'label' their Christian faith are hypocrites, everyone says they are on fire for God but its really only God that knows that, isn't it.

Sagamite:
When people use terms like "sexual orientation", it subconsciously connotate naturality. Something you are born with.

If that is the case, then paedophiles can also claim their deviancy is an orientation.

I try and restrict arguments like this to "sexual preference", which is a better reflection of the reality.
The fact they might claim it as an orientation does not mean its not still deviant.

If being gay is a state of mind, then being straight is a state of mind. So I guess people can have different states of mind.

@africhika:
Genetic defect, so you are saying being gay is the 'genes'. Nobody has found the 'straight gene' not to talk of the 'gay gene', so I am not buying that.

@mad_max:
Your perv friend is funny, I know many straight guys that tell me how beautiful and pure lesbian sex is and how they would like to 'participate' :-).

I have never been attracted physically or sexually to a guy but I have dated guys, those were train wrecks. I knew I was gay pretty early and spent years trying to 'normalize' myself.
Christianity EtcRe: Could It Really Be That A Person Can Be Born Gay? by ebumowa(f): 5:56am On Sep 09, 2009
@trekkie
Lol, you really don't know anything about gay relationships, how many gay couples do you know? I am in a relationship, and none of us behaves like a man.

As for necrophilia, consent plays in big rule in sex. Homosexual sex is between two (or more) consenting adults, so bringing necrophilia into this argument is senseless.

Are you telling me you choose to be straight because you told a guy that came on to you, no way? What were you before then?

I don't put a label on my Christian faith, but I am not a nominal Christian.
Christianity EtcRe: Could It Really Be That A Person Can Be Born Gay? by ebumowa(f): 4:24am On Sep 09, 2009
@mad_max
Yes, I am gay. Raised in Nigeria and lived there for 17 years before coming to the United States (I knew I was gay in Nigeria). I am a Christian, and coming to terms with my sexuality wasn't easy or quick. After years of near self-hate, I believe if God wanted to be 'straight', he would have made me 'straight'.
Christianity EtcRe: Could It Really Be That A Person Can Be Born Gay? by ebumowa(f): 6:51pm On Sep 08, 2009
Do I believe I was born gay? Yes but I can't prove it; all I know is that as I grew older and became aware of my sexuality, I have always been attracted to females.
