docbunmi: Thanks everyone. We had a 7am appt and got der @ abt 6am. We were third in line but I had to go back to drop my baby's milk and water outside cos its not alloweD. We went thru all d security checks and by d time we entered d interview hall, it was 7:11am. We paid N163,500 for d 3 of us and after abt 15mins a Nigerian woman called us @ window 13 and asked for my hubby's educational papers, our marriage cert and birth certs and police report. We were already told to open d sealed medical reports @ d gate before entering. Anyway, at this point we had a bit of issue wit my hubby's neco, d original was not in d package! Instead we packed a color copy dat looks just like d original! See shock and confusion,we asked to go get a scratch card outside but we were refused dat we cnt go outside again. Anyways we offered up some prayers and waited. Then d CO came and we were d first pple attended to CO: good morning WE: good morning CO: asked for d payment slip and told us to sign and take d oath. Here, my baby was babbling and I told d CO dat "see, my baby is taking d oath too" and everyone laughed. From dat moment, it was smiles and jokes galore CO: asked my hubby who played d lottery for him and my hubby said I did it for him and she asked me if dat was true and I agreed and went further to tell her d date I played it. She then asked my hubby wat he does for a living and asked him to explain exactly wat he does. She then asked wen we met and my husband and I told her d story, completing each odas sentences and she was just smiling. She assked wat job I do and I told her I am a doc and specialize in family med. She asked if we had pics and we showed her our wedding photo book and she loved d yoruba attire of d engagement. While, we were still flipping thru d album, she printed out a white paper and circled d first addy and said " dats fine, ur daughter is lucky to have parents so in love like u guys.congrats and welcome to america, go pick ur passports and visa nxt wk @ d circled addy. We said thanks, smiling and as we turned to leave, my baby picked up d black phone to put it in her mouth and d lady started talking baby talk to her dat even d pple waiting were laughing with us The lesson here is dat though we had some scary moments, we kept our heads and were positive. Success to everyone else too Ire na akari o Congrat! dats lovely |

gog123: Hello Forumites,I am a guest in this forum, I have been reading all you postings since it started and have learnt a lot from it. I watched all the quarrels, arguments, fights, the happiness and congratulations.I have also decided that it will be selfish of me to read all the posting and not share the reason why i have been following this post.My sister and the husband with 3 kids won the lottery and had their successful interview today. The husband is the principal applicant, we were having so many doubt because his highest qualification is olevel but decided to put it in the hands of God, not only is he Olevel but he finished secondary school in the early eighties with two credits without math or english.Later in early 2000 he did Neco with only 3 credits including only english. I have been preparing them with the questions I get from this forum, this is also where I found out that visa has gone down to $330, I knew last year was $819. I have also headrd a lot about this black angel at the embassy, he said she was the one that attended to them.To cut the long story short, this was how it went. Co: Raise yr hand and say after me ... Husband: Repeated after co.... Co:What is your highest level of education? Hus: Olevel Co:Are these your children? hus: Yes Co: I want to see their picture when they were babies hus: He brought out the oictures and handed it tho her. Co: How long have you been married ? Hus: He told her Co: where do you work and how long have you been there? Hus: answered Co: what is your job there? Hus:Answered Co: (Asked the wife) what kind of marriage did you do? wife: Answered Co: Smiling (Left and came back with a white paper telling them where and whhen to collect the visa/passport.) That was it,infact he thought the black angel was just verifying things before the real interview will start not knowing she was already done with him. When they called to tell me, it was still like magic to them but when God is at work, there is no much story, it flows like you were made for it.From what I have seen so far if you can proof that you have at least attended secondary sch, the visa will be yours. Pls rejoice with me. US is a land opportunity, if you are hard working you will make, I am riping mine. The land is enough to contain all of us from naija, just about 3 states here will cover our land area, until our own govt will learn their lesson and change if they will. Encourage yr relations to play and continue yr good work on this forum.I wish all the upcoming interview success. Congrat to ur inlaw. You hav done a nice job by sharing their interview experience. Thanks |

Gbabe 2: Good afternoon peeps.I am really thankful to you guys.I must confess u guys are doing a great job.@Kemzone,Adesojiaderemi,temmytamy,gentiger and everyone you are all wonderful people. I had my interview this morning around 9.15am to 9.19am and it was a pleasant experience and divine favor of God at work. We (0i and my wife)got to the emabassy around 6.30 am. We followed their normal security checks and the routine. Next thing i paid in dollars though i had alternative of over 130k in naira in case she has issues with the dollars i presented.Well no issue,we proceeded to another that collected all our documents (NPC,Marriage cert,my bsc,Hnd Ond and Waec certificates,Police Report and Medicals.I presented the other certifications which includes my ACCA Cert,CIA Cert,CrFA cert and CISA certificates but she didnt collect any of except the required ones) About 35minutes after a black american lady showed at the window 13 and started the interview for the immigrants.Later another CO showed at the window 16 before a white blonde girl later showed up at window 15 respectively. Enough people had issues with the currency and visa fee payment and i had to extend a good gesture to a family like that.I am so sure they visited this great forum for once. The black american gave a family of three visas and 3 individuals as well. She was so friendly that all prayers then was that God let us have our interview with this young lady.Obviously,it didnt cost the lady anything to grant everybody that came to her visas.I must tell you,you guys must just pray she is not on holidays when its your turn (just kidding) Exactly 9.15am she called us to her window. Me and Wife : Good mnorning. How was nite CO:Fine thank you (with a charming smile) CO:You are here because you won a lottery Me and Wife:yes CO:Do u promise to say the truth and just the truth Me and Wife:Yes we do CO:Your finger prints Me and Wife:We did it. CO:You have a Bsc I:Yes i do CO:Have u travelled outside nigeria before I:No CO:Where do you work and what do you work as? I:I Told her my place of work and dat i do work as an internal auditor CO:To my wife. What do u do My wife:am still looking for job CO:Are u guys married I:YES CO:Any pictures I:YES CO:Can i see them I:I brought the album out and we flipped from beginning till the end. CO:Congratulations you should go to this address next Wednesday to pick up with that radiant and charming smile again Me and Wife:Thank you so much and enjoy your stay in Nigeria. CO:Thank you i try my best. Folks that was all.It was like a chat all through. Really grateful to God and all u guys here.U are all doing a great job here.Kudos. Lessons learn t.Pray to God and dont fidget.Prepare your documents and commit the rest to Gods hand.We are all going to be successful IJN.Again i greeted almost all the staffs i came across including the security guys there.its not necessary but trust me you might need them later and you don't need any embarrassment or delay whatsoever. Have a blessed and favourable interview. Cheers Wow dats great! congrat to ur family |

hituneu: I applied married ok good. I asked that becos with d interview experiences that I have read on d previous treads, interviews for married couples are little bit easier if "the primary applicant" applied as "married" and is usually tough if "d primary applicant" applied as "single" and now claiming married. So for ur own case just gather every evidences dat shows u are really married, you and ur husband should learn each other very well.(An intimate question like "When was the first time u had intercourse wit ur husband" might arise)that's y u both needs to know each other very well. Go to 2012 Tread and read from Page no. 1 to the last page u will learn from lots of interview there. |

Ibracadabra: It all started last year. In fact it was february 2011. I was so happy when I got an email saying I had won the DV visa lottery. I went crazy with joy- screaming out my lungs in excitement- only to find out it was a SCAM email! My heart sunk and my face fell when I was told that KCC doesn't send emails and that winners are NOT chosen in february. It was emotionally traumatic. I couldn't believe SCAM people had gotten to me- and even though their mail didn't ask me to pay anything; I eventually confirmed it was a fake letter after logging in with my confirmation no.
This experience made me swear I would never apply for this visa lottery thing. I was angry with everybody- including myself and my friend in America who applied for me that year.
So- October last year, the same friend in America called me and asked for my details so he could register for me again.. But I still felt bad about d scam so I told him I wasn't interested- but he persisted and I said to him impolitely, "Shay u get my details last year- use am again"
I didn't know he even registered- and I forgot d entire gist until May 2nd when he called me screaming on d fone... I asked him what happened and he told me I won.
I couldn't believe my ears. I was like, "won what?... Did you register for me?"
That was how I won o... I immediately used DHL to send d completed forms to KCC on 6th May and they confirmed reception... I kept praying, reading and that's when I fell in love with Nairaland and this forum in particular.
I can beat my chest and say I read every single page of both the 2012 and 2013 forums and this helped me prepare perfectly for today...
I woke up today by 4 am... I got a cab and got to d embassy by 5:05am and there were 5 ppl already waiting for d embassy to open. I was happy I was early, but eventually that didn't mean I got interviewed early. There was a lot of bureaucracy, lines to follow, tags to collect, I even had to drop pay N300 to drop my fone with one mallam outside.
We were searched at least 3 times and then we moved in to wait. They collected our original and photocopies. In fact d guy that collected my credentials finished from my school... So he was very friendly- and at that moment; I remembered all d prayers u guys said for me- and I knew it was God at work. I mean: how often do u meet your alumuni at d embassy? His cheerfulness settled me mentally and I waited for d interview proper.
I was called to Window 14 and a pretty blonde was d CEO. She gave me my form to sign and took my fingerprints.
This is how it went:
CO: Swear to say d truth, d whole truth and nothing but d truth
Me- I do
CO: Congratulations on your Visa Lottery
Me- Thank You
CO- tell me about your educational background
Me- okay, where do u want me to start from? Nursery? Primary?
CO- Umm. Primary
Me- took her through my educational background
CO- Why did you study Microbiology?
Me- as a kid; I always wanted to b a scientist and we watched a lot of Discovery Channel and Crime TV- so that spurred as kids to excel in sciences
CO- (smiled when I said Crime TV), so tell me- what do u do now?
Me- I told her
CO- when u get to America, what do u wanna do?
Me- I'll further my studies and probably specialise in pharmacology
CO- Hold on one minute (she started typing)... Your Visa has been APPROVED. (She encircled an address on a white paper) next wednesday Ĝø and pick it up. Congratulations
I was smiling like an idiot and she smiled back
CO: Oh you should try modelling. I think you'd have a shot at it
Me: Thank you (my head wan burst)
CO: Oh hold on: have u been ever married
Me: No
CO: any kids?
Me- No
CO: Ok, have a nice day
That's all folks... I'm going to party tonight Soo nice! Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!! |

godcherisher: DV Experience Testimony
Alhamdulillah, All praises go to GOD.
Exactly one year after submitting our entry to the DV 2013, we got our visa delivered by courier today. As a token of appreciation for all the insightful information I have been able to gather from this forum I would like to share with you our whole DV 2013 experience.
Thursday, November 3, 2011: Application to DV Lottery 2013 This was the second time I applied since 2008 and it was the first time I entered my wife as an applicant. t all started on that date at exactly 1:37:46 PM EDT when I entered two separate applications for my wife and myself. It was quite stressful because I remembered that it was the last day to enter the application and I was on a business trip overseas but somehow I really wanted to give it a shot. I called my wife and elder daughter to ask them to send me scanned copies of their passport pictures and passport numbers. After much tweaking on the photographs to match the required specifications as per DV guidelines, I managed to complete the submissions.
I carefully saved the confirmation numbers, sent them to my private email and put a reminder in my outlook to check back on the result by May 1, 2012.
May 1, 2012: Selected and 1st NL On that day, I attempted to check but the server was quite busy so I waited till the next day. At first, I checked with my confirmation number and I saw the message “ENTRY HAS NOT BEEN SELECTED”. Without much conviction, I checked for my wife and oh my god, the page looked different and I immediately new that she was selected. She was on a long phone call (women) and I waited patiently for her to finish. She completely forgot about the fact that I even applied for both of us so I let you imagine her surprise when I told her that she was notified by KCC. When we saw that about 100000 people are preselected but only 50000 visas were available we immediately rushed to collect the documents needed to pursue the application. We took pictures, completed the forms, checked diligently that everything was OK and sent the forms for my wife, my two daughters (my third daughter is already US citizen by birth. We lived there for about 4 years in the past on a L1 visa, which is inter-company transfer).
May 1, 2012 – August 17, 2012: The long wait Her confirmation number was quite low DV2013AF00005XXX, so we knew that we should start gathering our documents as soon as possible especially with the nomadic life we have had (we lived in about 6 countries for the past 20 years). However, we didn’t want to do it to early because we knew that some police certificate for instance are only valid 3 months from the issue date and the medical is only valid for six months. Therefore, we waited till we got our 2nd NL which arrived on August 17th 2013 which stated that our appointment is scheduled on October 3 at the US consulate in London . From that moment we started rushing to get all the documents pending and made arrangements for our medicals at Knightsbridge doctors in London. Everything went well but we started realizing that time was flying fast especially for the documents we had to get from countries where we had limited connections available.
October 3, 2012: DV Interview at US Consulate in London We had our appointment at 8:00 AM so we left home (we live in London area) very early in the morning to be on time for the interview. Before arriving at the embassy, we stopped at a pharmacy nearby to consign our bags and non-essential effects for the interview. We found already a small queue ahead of us but most of them were non-immigrant visa. We handed our 2nd NL and the reminder letter we got from the US embassy two days before the interview and quickly passed the security check (airport style baggage scan)
At the reception, we were issued a calling number (I906) and were directed to a large waiting hall where we found lots of people waiting. Again most of them were non-immigrant visa and US citizen coming for their passport renewals.
At about 9:00 AM we were called at a window where we met a nice and friendly lady. She requested the notification letter and went to check if our medicals were sent by the Doctor’s office. After a while she came back with an envelope containing some XRay CD which she handed back to us stating that we should keep them and be ready to present it if ever it was requested at the port of entry She started collecting our documents in the order specified while asking few questions at the same time and scribbling some notes. I noticed that she had also the pictures, which we sent to KCC back in May and realized that there was no need for us to bring additional pictures. Everything was in order except that we were missing one police record from one of the country where we were living before. She then asked us to go pay the DV visa fee at the cashier which I did using my debit card. After that, she asked us to go wait in the hall again for somebody to call us for an interview.
At about 10:00 AM, we were called at another window for the interview. It was a young person who was conduction the interview. He asked my wife to step forward as the principle applicant and asked us all to raise our hand and perform the oath. Here is how a short synopsis of the interview: • C.O: Good morning, blablabla • Wife: Good morning, blablabla • CO: When did you play the lottery • Wife: about a year • C.O: Did you pay somebody for that • Wife: Surprised, looked at me (for advice) and I nodded no because I was suspecting this to be a trick question • C.O: What did you study • Wife: XYZ • C.O: One of your kid is US citizen, how come • Wife: We lived there for more than 4 years while my husband was assigned there • C.O: I have to cancel your current non-immigrant visas (Each of us had a 10 years B1/B2 visas which were still valid at the time of the interview). He stamped the visa pages with “CANCELED WITHOUT PREJUDICE” • C.O: Called my elder daughter and asked her what she is doing • Daughter: XYZ • C.O: Please sign this paper to swear that in case you are issued a visa, you will not get married before going to the US • Daughter: signed • C.O: All your documents are in order but I will have to follow due process and wait till I receive all police records before granting the visa. He then gave us a blue sheet saying that the visa could not be approved today and indicated that we need to submit to them the missing police records along with our 4 passports as soon as possible through a secured courier service (DXSecure).
During the whole interview, I kept a low profile and let my wife responded to the questions without intervening since she was the principle applicant.
October 17, 2012: Sent missing documents and passports We finally received the police records 10 days later and it was picked up by the courier service on Tuesday 17th for delivery to the US embassy. They also gave us a tracking number to allow us to monitor the progress on our application.
November 2nd, 2012: Visa processing completed I was systematically checking twice a day to see if there is an update and even sent an email to the US consulate to inquire about the progress of our application to which they replied:
“Thank you for your email. We can confirm that your documents have been received and your application is under final review. We regret that we are unable to guarantee that the visas will be issued by a specific date. Please be assured that you will receive the documents as soon as possible. Sincerely,
Consular Information Unit U.S. Embassy, London CONS/CIU/GS
This informal method of responding enables us to respond to you within a shorter time. No record is being made of this correspondence. If you need to e-mail us again, please return this e-mail. This email is UNCLASSIFIED.”
On November 2, I received a text message saying that the documents are ready for collection on November 5. As I couldn’t bear the waiting anymore, I immediately called the company to arrange for a delivery on Saturday at a premium fee.
November 3rd, 2012: Visa delivered Today, exactly one year since we entered the lottery, the courier arrive with a big sealed envelope containing 4 envelopes each labeled with our respective names along with our passports. I checked with my wife the visas and they are all valid for six months.
We often spend xMas period in US and we have already made arrangements to travel to Atlanta during that time in order to activate our green card. We are looking to move sometime in the summer once the kids have finished school and to give us also time to prepare our departure smoothly. Congrat am happy 4 ur family |

bobshina: NEWBIE:
Hi , This house has been so helpful and i just owe this great forum by sharing my interview experience for others to gain from as i've also benefited immensely from the forum. I give all glory and thanks to God for HIS favour over us . I did my interview with my family and it was successful. I did on same date with brigthmon at the same time but different window. I guess it’s d only 2 of us they interviewed for dv within the 1 hour spent there. We were calm and tried to listen to questions being asked other people that were interviewed. *2NL submitted at the gate *Security Check Points *Made DV Payments *A guy called to submit the Originals and Photocopy of all our credentials
Then after waiting a while,CO Called my wife’s number to d window
This is how the questions goes: just about 6 questions in all (me & wife):
Co: Good Morning we: Good Morning
Co: where is ur payment slip we: gave to him
Co: Right Hand up and Promise you will tell me nothing but the truth we: we Promise
Co: Take your finger print we: we did
Co: asked me to go and sit down for a while Co: why have you not been working? My wife: answered him---applied for some but yet to get one.
Co: asked again : why have you not been working? My wife: answered him---applied for some but yet to get one and because of my present pregnancy, my husband told me to hold on for a while.
Co: what are the Subjects you did in your WAEC? Note: my wife used NECO(6 credits) but we also filled WAEC(only 2 passes) in our form ds 230.though we did not attach the WAEC result but they asked for it---just to be sure we have d 12 year elementary schooling. My wife: answered him
Co: how did you study for the exams? My wife: Told him--- reading at home, in d library and group discussion with course mates
Co: asked my wife to call me Co: how did you meet your wife? Me: I told him------ through her sister who was my classmate
Co: when did you got married Me: I told him
Co: do you have any picture you took together? we: we brought out 2 albums (wedding) and opened one for him page by page . We opened about 4 pages and stopped. He said we should open more pages and we did.
Co: Kindly sign the column on the form (Form DS-0230 Part 2 ) we: signed
Co: he waved to our son and asked : is he your only son and we said yes? Co: congratulation. Your Visa has been approved. You are welcome to America Co: he circled one of the 2 addresses on a white paper, gave it to us and asked us to go picked our visas on the address we: thank you .
And that was it !!!!!!!!!!
Please, go with all your certificates but make sure you put the required ones in one envelop and others in another envelop. I wonder what would have happened if we don’t have my wife’s WAEC result with only 2 passes that was demanded.
ALSO, PLEASE BE HONEST EVEN IF YOU HAVE ISSUES. THEY ARE ALSO HUMAN BEING.
I really thank God for this and everyone in this forum that have been contributing in one way or the other. We were over prepared using all the information we gathered from this great forum people. This forum has really helped us and we really give thanks once again. I also pray that everyone here we surely share the same success story.(AMEN)
GOD BLESS 9JA , GOD BLESS USA
