uniqueprivacy: First of all i want to thank God almighty for proving to me that He is God and still answers prayers. Also to tahnk other forumites for your wonderful contributions to this success story of mine. I want you guys to know that you are very important and beleive that when God is involved in a thing he will always create an avenue to ensure that that thing comes out successful especially when we rely absolutely on Him and not our own strenght. I had so many quetions in my mind after receiving ma 2NL, but didn't know how to get answers until someone introduced me to this new family i never knew i will have, that is you(Nairaland Forum), yes you that is reading this message. Thank you so much for your encouragement, guidance and challenges. My prayers are that God will make us all useful to our selves, to Him, to our families, to our country and the world at large.Only be positive and good cos it pays to be good and a great loss to be evil.
And to the gurus (names ommited) in the house , you know urselves and we all know you keep up with the good job, only God can pay you.

Now here is my interview experience.
I arrived the embassey at 5:55am, waited outside till abt 6:30am before we were asked to queue up for the security checks and finally to the interview hall at about 7:15am.
waited with anticipation to see how this white lady at window 16 looks like, finally she came up and another gentle white man in window 15 and yet another at window 13. befor this, our numbers were called at different windows for submission of our documents by blacks, and my docs were collected at window 16, so i felt that was it, that i will be interviewed at that window, but to my surprise it was window 15 that later called my number.

plesae take note when going for your interview, go with someone who can take care of unwanted items, or go with a car where you can keep them. For nursing mothers you are not allowed to go in with baby food, please feed your baby ouside befor going inside, except for breast feeding.

Wishing you all that are still expecting best of luck. the God that did it for me, will also do it for you, but pls try to know Him more not just for the purpose of this interview, but throughout your life. It pays to know and to serve God.

I forgot to tell the House.

I did not know that one of my colleagues is even working there. I saw him that very day discussing with that same white lady (the Consular Officer) at window 16. I learnt many things from him when I later called for confirmation and verification.

Nigerians should serve and worship God. Don’t worship the white people. Don’t be scared of them. They are human being like you. In fact, you are even better than them. Be yourself and be courageous.

My wife and I are not discouraged. We knew that our GOD is planning something wondrous for us. We are rejoicing and thanking Him since that very day. If you see us; you will think we won the VISA. We are counselling people and GOD used my family to save souls. Is that one not enough?

Don’t kill yourself If you are denied. Keep thanking and praising God. US VISA is not the end of the world.
Help people if you are granted VISA.
Let us change the world!!!

I left the house by 4:45am and arrived 5:20am. We observed all the necessary protocols and the checks and got ushered in. I purposely sat in such a away as to have a clear view of the white lady everyone dreads. I needed to inderstand her methods, temperament and ideology should in case I am sent to her.

She denied virtualy everyone who got to her desk. I realized it's not about the woman. It's about the applicants who come ill-prepared. She wants to be sure you TRULY MERIT the visa. Her question are not difficult but tricky and searching. From my interactions with her, I figured she must be a lawyer or someone with legal exposure. She asked me questions, more of a cross examination using legal terms known only to legal minds.

Now this is the secret to dealing with her. Learn forward and look her right in the eyes. That makes her uncomfortable and less composed. It's like turning the table against her. Answer her questions with CONFIDENCE even If you're not so sure of the answers. Maintain eye contact and be polite to a fault. Her approach could make you edgy and could provoke anger in her which always prompts her to deny without mercy. Keep a smiling face and raise your pitch when responding to her query. Use gestures too. All these played out to my favour. Above all, I realized she appreciates good command of English Language. But really, how can you claim to be a graduate and unable to make a sentence that's error-free? Let's polish our vocab.

To my surprise she began to lecture me on it. I chip in facts from time to time to buttress her points.

There were two sheets before her. One was for denial and the other for approval. She pulled the paper, circled an address and asked me to pick my visa on Friday next week. I enjoyed my time with her. I am sure she enjoyed my company. She's such a lovely Angel to chit-chat with.

taatus: i would advice u to e.mail your local US embassy with your english result. i dont know your country. so try a mail to your local embassy cos they are in the best position to give the accurate response. all i know is that a pass in every subject is good to go with

I advise that he should not e mail the embassy concerning his result so dat they will not concentrate on that on the day of his interview especially if it happen to be d white CO at window sixteen. Heed to other advice than calling d Embassy 4 it. U might be lucky not to be asked about dat on ur interview day. Wish u Good luck!

Gentiger: It's Geeeentiiiigeeeeer!!! I had a chit-chat with the CO today and it turned out beautifully well. Like I did say, it was a gentlemanly conversation and everything turned out pretty well. femsoj: It was just a 2mins interview and all what the black angel asked me was where I did my NYSC, I told her that I served in Nigerian breweries plc. Her respond was " WHAO, that is a nice place to serve, how were you posted to that company?" I told her that I did my IT with them and that it was one of my boss back then when I was doing my IT that assisted me to serve there. She also asked me the reason why I was not retain in NB plc and I told her that I worked with them for extra 5months after my NYSC but A̷̷̴̐͠ memo later came out that they should stop retaining corpers. That was all. She congratulated me and gave me the white envelope of where to collect my visa. @ Seye,congrat bro, because the white lady at window 16 really denied many people today. @ everyone, prayer is the key,the lord we serve is A̷̷̴̐͠ living God. Imcool: OUR INTERVIEW EXPERIENCE(Window 16): CO- Gd mrn. I & WIFEY- Gd mrn. Finger prints done & wife was ask to sit while i was interviewed. CO QUESTIONS- 1. Whatz ur highest educational qualification? HND IN MECH ENGINEERING. 2. What're ur final year courses? 3. What is thermodymanics? 4. How is thermodynamics related to an automobile engine? 5. Explain ur schedule of duty @ work. 6. What questions where u asked in mathematics during ur WAEC? 7. What is Algebra? 8. What do u know about trigonometry in math? 9. When & where did u meet ur wife? 10. Where was she staying @ dat time? 11. Do u av ur wedding pix here? 12. Who and who are these in ur welding album? 13. Who owns d jeep u used during ur wedding? AT THIS POINT, Wife was called & i was asked to sit. CO asked most of the personal questions asked from me from my wife too and also added this- tell me about ur final year project. I WAS CALLED AT THIS POINT & as she wasn't convinced, she asked us to sit and we were called @ window 8(a door leading to an inner private window when we met another CO) after about 1hr. WIFE WAS ASKED to go out and so many questions to test the authenticity of my marriage were asked- even question lyk wen we first had sex and wen we had sex last were asked too, this lasted for another 30mins and WIFE WAS CALLED IN to be questioned again while i went out, she however missed one question here. WE THEN WENT OUT AGAIN and sat for some minutes wen we were called @ window 16 again and our visas were finally approved. GOT INTO D INTERVIEW HALL AROUND 8AM AND LEFT AROUND 1PM. The secret of our interview was 1. Prayers and divine favour 2. Wen @ window 16, it's advisable to talk in technical jargons cuz by dis, d lady gets tired of asking more questions. 3. Thorough study and revision of ur past educational courses and subject as regards to sec sch. 4. I got to realise dat d CO(S) are not mr or mrs know all, all they're looking out for is how confident and bold u're, i could remember i gave some wrong answers but she couldn't decode cuz i spoke more in technical terms. The window 16 CO denyed like 4ppl while i was there, d black angel wasn't around 2day instead a young white american guy was in window 13 and another white lady was in 15- they were both nice. But as for window 16, she was so tough wit each interview section btw 40mins to 1hr. THANKS TO EVERYONE IN D HOUSE, MY SUCCESS STORY WOULDN'T AV BEEN POSSIBLE WITHOUT UR CONTRIBUTIONS. I had my interview dis morning, its interesting because dis forum has been soo much of help to me ive read thru peoples interview and prepared enough for dis but i was surprised after payin my visa fee to d cashier and waited for about 40mins i was called to window 6 where a white gentle man interviewed me but u wouldnt believe dis he didnt ask me any question, all he said was come dis date for ur visa and i answered thank u.

i ve learnt sumtin today guys if u knw u meet d requirement jst prove it with d needed documents don't go with soo many documents because it sumtimes
pop soo many question.Thanx to God n every1

1. please be bold and courageous, look straight to her eyes
2. speak and gesticulate with ur hands even if you dont knw the answers to the question say smtin and gesticulate cos they dnt knw most answers to the questions they ask people i cud remember i gave one definition of theory that wasnt the actual one
3. Make God ur pillar pray fervently for favour from any CO that will interview u coz we neve can tell who the Co will be.

idoo4love: All thanks to God for his favour and mercies. I got to d embassy at about 8.am and I had to wait cos my interview was scheduled for 10am . I paid 300 naira for d chair cos my friend accompanied me .Went in at about 9.45am and I was given a blue card . Several security check and I even had to remove my belt . I was called by a black man but I told him I was yet to pay and dat the cashier was not on seat. So he called her to attend to us. I made payments (54,500) and was told to seat. Ahhh I Sat down for over 3hours and I listened to several interview sections. You go fear God ooooooo. At about 2.10pm I was called to window 13 and joy filled my heart . So......

1. Master ur olevel "i.e. Waec" welllla even if u av a bsc cos d woman in window 16 likes asking questions on it. I witnessed a lady's interview and she was denied "sad".
2. When ever u pray, always tell God u want d Co that will grant u ur visa regardless of d "window"..And God will prove himself strong in ur life... Even if u are to be interviewed by d lady in window 16.... Like sum1 will always say here ,"FAITH WORK WONDERS" ... Be bold and make sure u say something even if u're not sure. D Co dos nt knw ur lectures,pastors ,courses ,friends and family in ur photo album etc (incase dem ask for names....jst say something meaningful.... They jst wanna hear from u.. That's all...infact I mentioned a topic as course.
Once again special thanks to boss Temmy for his selfless support,care ,callssssss , mails, in fact he helped me with a sample of d letter I attached. imagine that... ienny: This is my story... myself,wifey and daughter applied for dv 2013 on the 1st of nov.2011. We had our daughter jan.2011 and my wife was again 8 months pregnant at the time we applied. The boy eventually came around dec.2011 which boils down to the fact that we had 2 babies in a single callender year. To the glory of God we got to know we won mid month of may 2012. We included the boy in the form we sent to KCC not minding whether or not we will be schrewed by CO to defend that the boy is actually ours as he was not included in the initial application or that the CO might find it a little difficult to believe that we actaully had 2 kids in a single calender year.Our interview was schedule for 7a.m jan 4.We did all the security checks, paid for 4 of us and all our documents were collected. Trust me i follow this thread on per second basis, so all our docs were intact and well arranged. Meanwhile my kids were playing all about in the hall such that they were noticed by all fellow 'interviewees' . We expected to be interviewed like around 10a.m cos so many people were ahead of us only for us to see our tag number flashing on window 13(the black american angel).The white lady had been engaging a woman with 2kids before we realised we the next to be interviewed.We quickly jumped up went straight to the black angel, at that time i knew is a done deal already based on the testimonies i have heard about her.My confidence was over doubled and i felt so relief as she engaged us on the below

I sincerely appreciate all the contributions and efforts of all in this forum to actualising this great dream.May the good God approves all waiting for their interviews, those that are current but yet to receive their 2nl and to all those waiting to be current. This journey requires a whole lot of patience ooo and prayers. I also really really enjoy most of the comic relief i get from some of the wonderful people in this forum, they actually helped me a lot to ease the stress of waiting and tension. gulfkid: Just to add to the good news in the house and to Praise God for His goodness and mercies. My wife and I had our interview on the 13th of Nov. My wife is the Principal Applicant.
After all the security checks and we entered the embassy hall, we made our payment for 3 of us ($330 each) and sat down to be called. We where called to submit our documents which we did. The Nigerian lady collecting the documents noticed an affidavit attached to my wife's passport and asked her to remove it.

Meanwhile, let me explain more about the affidavit. My wife is a dual citizen of Nigeria and Britain. last year when he was going to have our son in London, she applied and got a Nigerian passport. She noticed there was a mistake on her place of birth and brought it to the attention of the immigration officer that handled it and she was advised to do an affidavit which she did and was able to travel back from UK with that passport as she traveled out with her British passport.

So back to the interview, we were called after sometime by one other Nigerian young man who immediately started saying that our application cannot scale through cause of that mistake. we tried to explain to him about the affidavit but he said "This is Nigeria, anybody can go and get affidavit from anywhere". Then God sent an Angel in another Nigerian woman who listened to our explanations. Thankfully we had my wife's British Passport. They collected it and asked us to go and sit down. At this point I was just praying for God's intervention.
After about 15 mins they returned her British passport and asked us to sit and wait for our interview.
After about 10-15 mins, our number was called and a white Lady was there to attend to us.
CO: Congratulations for the DV Lottery
We: Thank You
CO: Raise ur write hand. Do you swear to speak nothing but the truth?
We: Yes
CO: Your Finger prints
We: we did
CO: (To my wife) Tell me about your education qualifications
Wife: ......
CO: Where do you wor?
Wife: .....
CO: Where were you born? (At this point she broke into laughter same time with my wife)
Wife: Told her Scotland and tried explaining the whole mix up
CO: Congratulations your Visa has been approved however, we will not be able to issue it on this passport because of the mistake.
She now typed a letter and gave us that states that my wife should return with a corrected passport at a latter date which will be agreed after we send a mail to the email she gave us requesting for an appointment.

My people, you wont believe the passport re-issue never came out until after 3 weeks plus and we spent 60k.
Anyway to the glory of God. Our passports were collected yesterday and the CO gave a letter for collection on Monday 17th.
It was not an easy period but God was faithful.
Pls if you have same or similar issue with your passport, pls sort it out b4 ur interview. It could have been worse but for God.
Sorry for the long story. I feel someone may just learn a thing or two from it.

My wife and I just had a successful interview at the US embassy in Ghana and will like to share my experience with the house.

We got to the embassy around 7am went through the security checks and went straight to the visa section. There were a lot of would be immigrant waiting to be called for interview. After an hour we called to pay the visa fee and were asked to sit and wait again. My guys we sat there for almost 2 hours before we were called again to present our documents.
Please house I advice u present only the required documents. And for couples don't forget your foto albums.

We waited for another hour and we were finally called to windows 8.

CO : Good morning
ME : Good morning Sir (remember to smile well well)
CO : Put your right index finger on some machine and asked my wife to do same.
CO : Do u sear to tell the truth so help u God ?
ME : Yes I do.
CO : Do you have any relatives in America ?
ME : No but my wife's aunty is there
CO : When did u meet your wife ?
ME : 1st October 2009.
At this point the CO stepped aside and started arranging our documents followed by endless typing.
He then stretched his hands and gave us the blue visa collection and told us to come back on Friday morning for our visas. I then asked if i can come alone to collect the visas.

Guys that was it just 2 questions. This miracle is just too much for me. BABA GOD DO AM AGAIN OOOOOOOOOO. HELP ME TO SAY THANK U TO JEHOVAH GOD FOR ALL THAT YOU'VE THAN FOR MY WIFE AND I.

kinzzo112: Yestarday was our interview, God favoured my wife and I. Our appointment time was 7am, by 5.30am, we were already at the Gate, waiting. Before 6.30am it fill up to its capacity. Exactly 6.30am we were called to line up(immigrant and non-immigrant). we went through all the normal security checks. We Got there pick our tag number(B......) we sat for few minutes, our names were called for documents submission. we went to window 17, a black lady there told us to go ahead and make payment before she could collect those documents. we made the payment(660 dols). And we went back to her again. that was were God started His work! after the documents were submitted(including our marriage certificate) she told us to bring our passport photographs, after looking at my wife's own, said she is not comfortable with what she used in hair, that if we had any other passport with us, which we said no, that passport was rejected, look at how the woman was looking everywhere for us search for another replacement, at last she has to remove the ones KCC sent to the embassy and used it for us. we were asked to sit that our number will called again. Mind you before we left home, we had prayed for us to be interviewed by the black lady at window 13 cos we have read about the way she favoured people. our eyes was in her window, we saw her approving two visas to different people, So here God did another Wonder! when she was done, she called another number B...., she waited for several minutes for this person to come up for interview, the particular person never showed up, she had to drop the forms and details, she went to pick another form, behold, it was our number she called, we smiled to each we stood-up to meet her. The interview was just within 10 minutes, no long thing!
took our finger print, take the oath and it went this way:

mywife: yes
CO:How low long have you been playing DV?
CO: Who played it for you
CO: How long have you been married?
CO:what do you do?
mywife: i teach and also a student
CO: how do cope with both:
mywife: am partime student, i only go to school weekends

mywife: gave her all the pictures( during the bride prize payment, the ones during dating, and the wedding)
I noticed she was looking for some particular pictures, immediately she saw them, she stopped and gave us back all the pictures, i noticed her typing into her system.
The only question i was asked:
CO: What do you do?
me: A network engineer.
CO: ok, you also work and go to school?
me: yes
she typed again
CO: congratulations yous visa has been approved!
she brought out a paper, circle an address told us to collect visas in a later date.

akshow77: Thanks to contributing and non-contributing members of this great thread.my day starts and end with this thread and have come to realize the only thing needed for success in life is when everybody lend a helping hand like is been done here.I set out around 5am this morning for the embassy but was 10minutes into the the journey before discovering my x-ray was missing,had to return to pick to it up.finally got to the embassy by 6am.After been ushered into the the embassy around 7am,payment made and and documents collected,the immigrant visa interview started around 8.30am.The white co at window14 was the 1st to start the interview.sooner enough she was joined by the black co at window 13.strange enough the first denial of the day was by the black American lady.Thereafter every other person came out smiling.I discovered that the white co at window 16 is very detailed and she had just a lady throughout the duration of my stay.The window 15guy is also detailed but not as rigourous as that of 16.I was finally called to window13 around 9.28am.

One thing that people need to know is that no 2 experiences are the same.You have to smile a lot even if you saying what you are not sure,those co likes confident ones.I pray everybody awaiting their 2nl and interview will be successful.

Ibracadabra: I took Royal Air Maroc from Lagos to New York. This flight cost me 139,000 Naira... I made a fatal mistake of changing ALL my naira into dollars as d Nigerian immigration and customs guys delayed me- because I didn't "settle" them. They promised to make sure I missed my flight- and I had to resort to begging them. But these guys are mean- I almost missed my flight and that experience unsettled me-... Anyway; that was d only heart dropping moment. D service on d plane was superb. Their tea, snacks and food made me ask myself "is this rily an economy ticket?"

We got to Cassablanca (Morocco) after 4 hours where we boarded another plane for JFK after staying in d airport for about 1hr 30 minutes. D cassablanca immigration guys were nice- no hassles, just searches and smiles and that was it... D flight took exactly 7hours 45mins and there we were in NEW YORK... We wnt through immigration authorities who took d forms we had filled on d plane to New York, took our finger prints and made us sign somewhere- d whole process took like 30 minutes and we were done... I took an air train (free of charge) to Terminal 7 where I connected with a flight going to Minneapolis via Charlotte... Anyway; that's d long and short of my trip... What else? Okay- in d form I filled; I indicated I brought food stuff and that led to extra delays for me- as they had to scan and rescan my stuff to make sure it was "safe"... Whew!
