Lock in your profit and wait maybe another Bonanza will show......

Some guys have insider info and usually act before it's made public......sometimes they mis-interpete the info and act in opposite direction........why risk takers sometimes benefit from their mis-information/haste/dumping sometimes............ ESPECIALLY if the price @ which they're dumping is at low/ risk-free region.

Lol. Dont mind me..........hope you made use of, or will make use of Jaiz bonanza @55k or below too........grin

I used to think stock prices on NGX are determined by amount of bid and offer prices of each stock. That is to say forces of demand and supply so to say. But, pls elders here, who can explain why prices of a stock (sterling specifically), for the past 1 month, will open at 1.56 or 1.57 and like 2 mins to close of trading will move to 1.60 or 1.61. I ve been watching Sterling and Wema since like a month now. They both have same behaviour. I just assume and conclude now that a hand is just influencing the prices to allow people to move to the stock early in the day and prevent them from selling at close day. My observation.

Mansard is not even supposed to be selling below N1 in the first place......
BUT, there's a share reconstruction phase coming in form of 4:1, this phase is still awaiting regulatory approval, reason it's delaying till now and MANSARD is still trading lower.
We've discussed this issue extensively here before.
Mansard lovers and long termers are picking .........but picking @ much lower price......observed from 90kobo downwards.
Hope I answered you in my own little way. smiley

** Not an advice to buy or sell in my form**
Thank you for this

Osita already answered .....with much grammar anyway. Lol. grin
"Share price adjustment for dividend" simply means deducting the declared dividend from the share price as at the date of markdown (next trading day after final qualification date).
It doesn't affect shareholders who doesn't sell immediately after markdown as such OR, who bought much cheaper......but may affect traders depending on cost price or market situation at the point/date of markdown.

For instance, Mansard closed at 90kobo before markdown on 22nd April.
Opened @85kobo on 23rd and still gained 0.05kobo on same day, to close back @90kobo.
All na investment risks. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
Ok got the gist better now. Thanks @Osita and yMCY56.
@ Mercy do you see their (Mansard)share price going up in coming weeks or months, going by their Q1 result. Thank you.

Also,

Stock market specialists will mark down the price of a stock on its ex-dividend date by the amount of the dividend. For example, if a stock trades at #50 per share and pays out a #0.25 dividend, the stock will be marked down to open at #49.75 per share.

This link with the caption - How Does the Stock Price Change When a Dividend Is Paid? :

So does it mean in effect "you cant eat your cake and have it?" So if I collect dividend, I must pay for it through lowering share price?

Pls elders I need advice here - Is Mansard a good buy at current price of 1 naira going by their dividend declaration. Is it even 55k or 5k? I have some units and I bought at 99k since a month ago. Don't know if I should still accumulate both for short and long term gains. Thank you.

Hmnn! I wonder why people will just be dropping no's in haste like this just to join a WhatsApp group they know nothing about. Is that how leaning about investment works? Before u know it now people will bombard the stock market chats with all sorts of jokes, adverts and irrelevant stuffs.

Happy December everyone, the year has been a good one for me investmentwise I must say and also a tough one in some ways. From 6.3m as at beginning of the year, I have bn able to grow my tbill investment to total 11m and additional 1m maturing in January to total 12m. It was indeed a tough rough path leading to this as I have had to deny myself various luxuries this year and several things I closed my eyes to not buy. But it worth it all. The increment was made possible by putting additional fund each month and reinvestment. But I made sure everything mature by Dec.
So my fear now is going by the current downtrend in tbills rates I totally confused on what my next year investment plan would be. I have a food commodity business am into, the total money in the business is just around 3m. Definitely I will have to put more fund in the business from all this but cannot put all so I won't mismanage the money. Am just confused on how best to invest the rest in the new year.

I went to Stanbic this morning and I was told that there's no more secondary market. I tried to inquire, I was told that it's from CBN. that one can only place order for primary market only for now.
So much confusion, the banks sef are not clear on the directives from cbn.

Which is OMO TB?
How are Treasury Bills different from OMO?

T-Bills and OMO (Open Market Operation) are similar and work almost the same way. Whilst T-Bills are issued to finance government budget deficit, OMOs are issued by the CBN for monetary policy management i.e. to control the volume of money in circulation. OMOs are also discount instruments in that you get your interest upfront but they can also be bought in the primary and secondary market. Depending on the objective and aggressiveness of the CBN per time, it might be possible to get higher rate on OMOs than T-Bills. OMO is also exempted from taxes. OMOs are issued at irregular intervals.

It's worrisome when you have about 20 different transactions to follow up forgetting some maturity dates only to be reminded when capital is paid or interest is paid. Lumping them together mop up and creat space for newer investment. Limit fees you pay to the bank although negligible but every kobo counts.
20 different tbills u mean! That's a wow! It's even burdensome for me to manage 5 different tbills and am thinking already that I have to bundle them altogether by December. Although am also thinking of moving some to bond.
But talking of bond, is it advisable to split them or have just one? Thanks
