domack99: Thanks, I actually don't plan to use the plant alone but add barb wire horizontally across the plant. I believe Jathropha and Moringa are deep rooted but don't know about this Cactus plant if they can easily be fell off. I think they are deeply rooted. plus they have the advantage of also having thorns all over them and when cut, they have this milky latex that can be very irritating when it comes in contact with the skin the advantage moringa and jathropha would give you is that you can harvest and sell their produce. |
Agriculture › Re: Living Fence - I Need The Seed Of This Plant by eddyline(m): 2:53am On Feb 09, 2017 |
this is riyom in plateau state. this cactus i s not usually propagated by seed but rather through stem cuttings. if you know someone in plateau state, you can ask him to send it along. jathropha and moringa won't make an adequate fence to keep intruders off as effective as this plant would. |

DMerciful: Upper temp range is upto 60°C but its better to run at room temperature of 25-28°C. The ones with BMS(battery management system) are adapted to be used in inverters as the required charging voltage is 14.4v consistent with what is obtainable in inverter. Normal Indian inverter would charge some of the Chinese models including the one I'm expecting. Draw back is high initial cost. Also max continuous current draw is limited to about 80A per battery however u can parallel to get more. But the advantage over lead acid is much. thanks. I guess I'll start saving for one then. |

snipesdam: I have cats in my house to take care of the lizards, rats, cockroaches and small rodents. lucky you. I had a male cat, but it ran away after growing big. am still searching for a kitten to keep. what I later did was to plant maize together with the tomatoes. it seem they prefer to feed on the maize and as such, my tomatoes are now coming up. my only fear now is that the cold season is going away now and heat is gradually setting in. this is not good for my tomatoes. will take pics and send when I arrive home later in the day. good luck |

MsDelilah: You can't donate blood at least 6 months after getting a tattoo.
Depends on how it's done. I've got 6. And all the times I got tattooed, I never bled. The ink never came in contact with my blood. That depends on how your artist does his. OK, that is to eliminate the chances of transmitting diseases such as hepatitis and HIV that may be in the latent state then. |

Health › Re: The Death Of Traditional Herbal Medicine In Nigeria by eddyline(m): 3:17pm On Jan 06, 2017 |
first off, alabukun is not a herbal drug, it is a brand of aspirin. secondly, working in a country such as Nigeria, it is almost impossible for pharmacists to come up with effective drugs that would reach up to clinical trials. no Nigerian university have a functional NMR machine what miracles are they expected to perform? while herbal medicines are no doubt effective, the problem we have over here is that of standardizing the dosage. |

saydfact: Nice questions asked.
My advice is always have enough money to get your site to the German floor level before starting or at least to the filling level (because German floor is a lot of cash)
Your 1st stage should include: a. Foundation b. Blocks to foundation c. Dig your septic tank and soak away ( https://www.nairaland.com/3502464/how-build-comfortable-house-earning ) I explained why on that link under No6. d. fill the site and get it well compacted .[/color] thank you sir. this has really helped. |
Food › Re: 5 Things We Discovered In Latest Laboratory Test On Plastic Rice - NAFDAC by eddyline(m): 2:06pm On Dec 30, 2016 |
there is a certain number of microorganisms that can be said to be within tolerable limits. I don't have these numbers in my head. if the microbial load in the said product exceeds this limit, the product becomes unacceptable. however, for certain microbes known as coliforms, the presence of even 1 renders it unacceptable. this is because for them to be present, then there is feacal contamination of some sorts. if you really want to know the number of limit for each microorganism, you'd have to consult official books or Google them. |
Food › Re: 5 Things We Discovered In Latest Laboratory Test On Plastic Rice - NAFDAC by eddyline(m): 9:58am On Dec 30, 2016 |
buygala: Thanks you Sir. ..but the question still remains...
What exactly are the permissible limits for the different microorganisms?
And you mentioned just Salmonella and e coli ..please what about
Clostridium Botulinum Vibrio cholera Tetanus Aspergillus Staphylococcus Streptococcus Syphilis Mycobacterium tuberculosis
Are these ones and many more Nafdac approved oral microorganisms? generally, coliforms and not just the two i mentioned are supposed to be absent in oral preparations and foods. not that they are nafdac approved but rather their presence suggests feacal contamination. I cannot start listing the limits for each microorganisms right now. perhaps you could Google that out. am sure you know that microorganisms are ubiquitous and as such it is inevitable to have them present in foodstuffs, water, etc. that is why limits are being set in CFU/g or CFU/ ml as the case may be. thanks. |
