KPMG Cyber Security Service department has today 13th of February, 2017 launched an innovative tool called KPMG Digital Responder, KDR, that will aids cyber investigation globally. The tool is first in the market that is based on a flat (fixed) rate. KDR will enable the internationally recognised audit firm to automate cyber response from the point of collection to reporting. According to the report made available by KPMG, the KPMG Digital Responder, KDR, tool will reduce costs of cyber investigations, shift time spent from collecting data to actual analysis, and most importantly, provide more time to companies to make faster, more informed strategic business decisions to manage potential cyber security risks. "KPMG customizes the KDR tool to fit the needs of the customer and the specific type of cyber investigation," says the report. The report continue, "KDR is an installation-free tool. It can be easily deployed via the cloud, encrypted USB stick or network shares." "Collected data is then packaged into an encrypted container and sent to KPMG securely for processing at our US Cyber Lab." "Upon receipt, KPMG automatically parses and normalizes the collected data, inserting it into a database that performs thousands of common forensic analysis procedures and routines. This process provides consistent and more informed results." "After analysis, a standardized investigative report is created based on the investigation type and sent back to the customer." “A cyber investigation can wreak havoc on an IT budget as it’s an open-ended cost depending on the impact of the incident, which can start in the thousands of dollars and can go up to the hundreds of thousands of dollars,” said Tony Buffomante, US Leader for KPMG Cyber Security Services. “Our flat-rate pricing model gives our customers the knowledge to know exactly what the investigation will cost, allowing them to better manage their budgets, staff and manage the expectations of the board.” “Brands, reputations and bottom-lines are won and lost after a cyber incident by how a company responds. Decisions need to be made extremely fast to find the leak, make repairs to the digital infrastructure and begin the process of communicating to employees, clients and stake holders,” said Ed Goings, Cyber Response Leader for KPMG Cyber Security Services. “By giving our customers a strategic report and plan within hours, instead of days and weeks, our customers are better prepared to answer questions about what has occurred in a timelier manner.” Read more here http://www.myfinancein.com/2017/02/kpmg-launched-automation-system-that.html |
Semirah Bello, a Yali trainee and a former president of Voluntary Service Overseas Lagos made this post today about a Lady named Adele who was diagnosed for cancer at 33 years of age. The story goes thus; On 27 March 2015 I was diagnosed with Triple negative Breast cancer. I was 33 years old. I remember that day like it was yesterday. Right up until the words came out of the doctor’s mouth I was sure it was a fibroma. I mean, 33 year old women don’t get breast cancer…. I was wrong. I think deep down I knew because I didn’t cry or get upset, I just said oh ok, well, somethig happens, what’s the plan of action. I don’t think my doctor quite expected that response by the look on her face however she went straight into explaining everything. I remember coming out of the hospital thinking, hold on, I’m 33 years old. I’ve got too much to see and do in this world. This cancer is messing with the wrong bee. I decided from the start that I would be very open about my diagnosis and decided to share that information on my facebook page. I never thought for a minute that someone my age would get Breast Cancer and so I wanted to make my friends more aware that it can happen to anyone. FAST FORWARD... It’s been just over 2 months now since I completed all my treatment and I’m fortunate that the cancer is all gone. The NHS staff that I met over the last 8 months have been outstanding and made this journey more bearable. Thank you! My next chapter has now started and it’s time to enjoy life! ______________ This is Adele's Story. In reality, so many ladies are thinking like this too. Please let's all avail ourselves for screenings, exercise regularly, eat healthy and know your family history. The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) in Nigeria has discovered bags of rice seized by the Nigerian Customs that can be teemeds as plastic rice. Detail of the press released is shown below. The National Agency for Food Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has confirmed that the 102 bags of rice seized by Customs operatives earlier this month is unsatisfactory for human consumption due to contamination by microorganisms even as they have clarified that they are not plasticized. The NAFDAC Acting Director-General, Mrs Yetude Oni made this confirmation at a joint press briefing with the Nigeria Customs Service in Abuja yesterday after carrying out laboratory tests on samples of rice seized by Customs officials in Lagos. According to her, “The product is not plastic but rice contaminated with microorganisms above permissible limit, hence the seized rice consignment is unsatisfactory and therefore unwholesome for human consumption.” The Acting DG further provided the full report of the laboratory test carried out: i. Floating - Negative ii. Sedimentation - Positive iii. Cooking. - Normal iv. Odour. - Normal v. Colour. - Off-white grains vi. Moisture. - 13% (within specification) vii. Pre-ashing. - Normal viii. Coli form - 7.5x103 cfu (above maximum limits) xiii. E-coli. - <3cfu (within specification) xiv. Packaging. - Does not conform to NAFDAC pre- packaging Food labeling regulations 2005 In his own remarks, the Comptroller-General of Customs who was represented by the Deputy Comptroller-General in charge of Tariff and Trade, Umar Iya Abubakar explained that the seizure of 102 bags of rice was made based on an earlier intelligence reports received from the office of the National Security Adviser and glaring lapses in the packaging of the bags of rice. He said, “Our operatives in Lagos intercepted a consignment of Rice, Customs action was based on an earlier intelligence we received from Office of the National Security Adviser, alerting us and other frontline Agencies that large consignments of plasticized rice were said to be shipped from the Far East to Africa. As the largest market for imported Rice in Africa, Customs took the alert seriously and charged Officers to watch out for such imports that do not conform with regulatory requirements. “When the consignments of Rice in question were brought to Customs Warehouse, our apprehension became heightened when we observed glaring lapses in the packaging. The bags of Rice had no NAFDAC Number, batch number, manufacturing, or expiry dates. We could also not see any detail about the manufacturers on the bag. We were left with no option than escalating our findings to the Agency that is statutorily charged with the responsibility of confirming the true status of the import.” See the pictures here: http://www.myfinancein.com/2016/12/plastic-rice-not-plasticized-but.html |

The Managing Director of Bendusco International Agency Limited, a manufacturing outfit in Onitsha, Mr. Benjamin Nwizu and a Chinese working for him, Mr. Ning Tiadong, are in the net of security operatives for faking products of other companies. They were arrested when our officials and the security operatives, comprising the army, police, Department of State service operatives, the civil defense, among others, raided his company located along the Onitsha-Owerri expressway in Onitsha. Nwizu, the managing Director on sighting the security operatives claimed the roof of the two-storey building and attempted to jump into the nearby compound, but was forced to come down by soldiers who threatened to bring him down by force. The Chinese, who claimed that he did not understand English language, said he was in the company to effect a repair of one of the machines in the company. The company’s workers, mainly girls between the ages of 18 and 20 ran in different directions as the security operatives moved into the various offices housing the manufacturing outfit. Some people, who claimed to be in the company for other businesses at the time of the raid, as well as workers were however allowed to go after questioning. Among the products being adulterated by the company were tooth brushes and shaving sticks, labels of other brands, including life Beer, Panadol among others, also littered the premises of the company which was an indication that the company was also involved in printing of such labels for those who adulterated other people’s products. SON Director of Operation Egnr. Felix Nyado who led the operation said the organisation had made several attempts to prevail on the company to adhere to the standards, adding that all the efforts fell on deaf ears. But Nwizu claimed that his company had an order from the National Assembly restricting SON from disturbing its business, arguing that the products he was manufacturing were duly registered. However, the Director said the manufacturing outfit specialized in producing counterfeit tooth brush handle, insisting that the product was expected to be made with virgin raw material. He said, “The act establishing SON allows us to advise companies to adhere to standard specifications but if a company consistently violates the advice, the organisation has the power to stop the circulation of the adulterated product. We have therefore evacuated the fake products found here and sealed up the place to stop further manufacturing of substandards products “SON visited the company in 2014 and wrote an interim report about the products and all effort to get the owner of the company to comply to with the standards were met with resistance. He is here claiming that he had a court order to restrain SON from stopping him, but no court can grant any company an order to continue to manufacture substandard products and stopping SON from carrying out its statutory duties. The regulation body is not doing the job for itself. Rather, its concern is to protect the life and safety of citizens an ensure that businesses are conducted in the right way. And if a company decides not to conduct its affairs within the regulatory framework of the authorities, then the owner should go to another country to operate. As it is, this company is under investigation and we want to know what is giving him the audacity to challenge a regulatory agency. Nyado described Nwizu as serial liar adding that he should explain to security operatives where he got the power challenge a constituted authority. Thinking of investing, why not go for real estate. You may say real estate does not provide immediate return on investment, however it is worth the while. There are enormous benefits for investing in real estate. If you consider them, you may have rethink. Let me take you through six reasons why you should invest your hard-earned money on it? 1. Capital Appreciation: The number one point that always come to my heart whenever I discussed with my friends on this issue is capital appreciation which results to capital gains. It is true that other forms of investments provides you capital gains, but investing on real estate provides you with more than you can ever imagine. If you buy a land or building now, in the next one or two years, the value would has increased. Selling it will give you a minimum of 15% capital gains. Also, the value of real estate never falls, it continues to appreciate year-on-year. 2. Easy To Research It is easy to research on real estates. With just a browser and an internet connection, you can get all you needed to research on real estates. You do not need a professional to know about real estate. 3. It is easy to start investing on real estate. Most persons that are investing on real estate now do not really plan to do so. After buying or building their own house, they discovered the current value of their home has increased. This motivated them to continue investing on it. Also, there are little or no protocol to start investing on real estates. 4. Less Risky: There are little or no risk in investing on real estate. Unless you buy the house in disaster prone area.
