On Tuesday June 6, 2017, Apple released two iPad Pro. They come in two sizes. The 10.5 inches-iPad Pro and 12.5 inches-iPad Pro. The smart tablets as I call them are similar in almost every features and specifications, except in price. The 12.5 inches-iPad Pro is priced $799. I have already talked on the 10.5 inches-iPad Pro.

As I have already mentioned. The 10.5 inches and 12.5 inches are very similar therefore, to avoid repeating words, I will only talked more about what make up 12.5 inches iPad Pro that are not in 10.5 inches type.

The device weigh only 1.5 pounds despite it large size. This means that the large size do not mean it is heavy. The phone is just 6.9 inches thick. Very portable phone, you will love holding it on your hands for a long time.

One aspect I didn't talk about on the 10.5 inches iPad Pro is the light pen, which Apple simply call "pencil." Apple pencil is no new stuff to iPad user. However, as a result of the new iOS operating system coming this fall as well as the redesign Retina for this new generation of iPad, the Apple pencil is something to long for, if you intend to buy iPad Pro. The pencil is also more sharp than it's previous generation. You will never notice that you are working on a phone.

Another feature I couldn't talk on, was the ability to use a iPhone alone with a iPad Pro. With Apple iCloud, you can use, a iPhone to start a task and complete it on iPad Pro. All you need to do is save the task on iCloud in your iPhone device and open it on iPad Pro.

The Nigeria Communication Commission, NCC, today hold consumer comversation programme at Auwal Primary School, Suleja Nigger state.

During the programme, the NCC representatives stressed the agency commitment to provide efficient and effective telecomunication services to Nigerians. Infact, this year was tag #YearOfTelecomConsumer.

At the event, NCC tells those present about the 622 Troll free call centre for consumers to call if they face ill-treatment from any telecom company.

NCC also butress their believes in the importance of educating Telecom Consumers and other Stakeholders on their rights as users of telecommunication services.

It was further made clear to Niger state indegines that various initiatives will be set up to help empower Consumers with Information to protect their rights & choices.

The initiatives NCC will undertake are Telecom Consumer Parliament, Consumer Outreach Programmes, Organising Outreach programmes and Consumer Conversations.

In Nigeria, it is very clear that many users of telecoms platforms do not know their rights, many never complain when these telecoms operators do not provide network services effectively and effectively.
It is very common in this part of the world for mobile telecommunication companies to go out of service for hours if not days, to avoid exaggeration During such periods, users of such telecom network will not get ready network to strike their personal or business deals.

Therefore, NCC efforts to educate telecom consumers on their right is a step in the right direction.

Hyundai, a conglomerate company located in South Korea has unleashed its first electric bus. The bus was called Elec City.

The new highway bus has 256KWh battery capacity. During testing of the bus it was unveiled that the bus can run 290 kilometer which is close to 180 kilometer when it is fully charged. The battery charges just for an hour. This means that the bus can run from Ikorodu to CMS twice, if it is brought to Lagos, Nigeria.

According to the Verge, Electric bus are more efficient than the traditional bus although it is very expensive for now. Also, it will not be easy for sell the Hyundia version of this bus in the US, since may not be able to compete with America electric bus manufacturer Proterra which uses 660kWh of battery.

In Nigeria, especially in Lagos and the FCT, it is time to look at this efficient means of intra-city transportation. Nigeria transport system is known for being affected by fuel hike and scarcity. Introducing electric buses will increase cost efficiency and cummuters' value for their money.

Google Play in collaboration with Made with code will use Wonder woman, a super hero to encourage girls who are teenagers to learn to build game applications.

It is reported by the International Game Developers Association (IGDA) only 22% of females are game developers. Therefore, a call by Google play and Made With Code to team up to encourage teen-girl to become game developers.

The campaign will motivate young females who are future leaders to see coding as a way to make earns meet. The project will enable teen girls to code three scenes from the wonder woman film.

The Wonder woman film will be shown on big sreen tomorrow.

Futhermore, the Google Play, Made with Code and Warner Bros are teaming up to gather together 100 teenage girls from Los Angeles to complete a coding project on the Wonder Woman movie.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, as part of our public enlightenment campaign, made a post via our social media platforms titled: “Red Alert on Capital Markets Scam”.

The post, a routine public enlightenment, was meant to educate investors of the various antics of fraudsters in the Nigerian capital market and not any way intended to cast aspersions on the reputation of The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE or Exchange), the CSCS Plc and their principal officers as colluding with fraudsters; rather both firms are strategic partners of EFCC in the fight against capital market frauds.

It would be recalled that The NSE on October 4, 2013 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the EFCC to tackle market infractions and abuse.

This partnership has successfully opened direct lines of communication and information sharing with the EFCC for reporting and investigations of incidents leading to a more proactive law enforcement and swift recovery of stolen securities.

The MOU also provides for a two-way training programme where we train NSE staff on the proactive prevention of capital market frauds and NSE trains our staff about key activities of the capital market.

According to Adesola Kolawole Amusan, Head, Capital Markets and Insurance Unit, EFCC, “we are aware that the NSE undertakes series of market surveillance activities necessary to rid the market of fraudster and has acquired NASDAQ’s SMARTS Market Surveillance platform to power its compliance program which is necessary to monitor the market for manipulation, including spoofing and layering. We encourage investors to subscribe to trade alerts and other services by the Exchange and CSCS that will enable them monitor their investments and report infractions as soon as they are noticed”.

He further said that “investors should familiarize themselves with the Requirements For Inter-Member Transfers From Suspended/Inactive/Expelled Stockbroking Firms as contained on the website of NSE (www.nse.com.ng)”.

It is worth noting that this collaboration between EFCC, NSE and CSCS has been yielding fruits as crimes are being prevented and prosecutions within the Nigerian capital market have increased.

Currently more than 22 cases referred to the EFCC by the Exchange are at different stages of investigation or prosecution.

Facebook posted in its blog yesterday that it has finally deal with spammers, spamming their website. These spammers provides inauthentic likes of over 10,000. With the actions taking against them, such likes will reduced to "less than 3%."

Facebook for the past six months has been combating spam operations that makes inauthentic likes and comments. Most of spammers accounts are located in "Bangladesh, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, and a number of other countries," just to mention a few.

The spamming is done through a "shopisticated means that try to mask the fact that the accounts are part of the same coordinated operation. They used tricks to avoid detection, including redirecting their traffic through 'proxies' that disguised their location."

The OPEC Secretariat and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ministry of Energy are pleased to announce the launch of the first phase of the Oil and Gas Big Data Project, which will take place during the 3rd GCC Petroleum Media Forum in Abu Dhabi on 19–20 April 2017.

Today, large volumes of granular oil and gas data are readily accessible to the public on various platforms, as well as through the media. However, the available data are rarely used collectively and in an optimal manner, due mainly to the lack of data ubiquity and data centralization and a unifying tool that is both comprehensive and simple enough to take advantage of the plethora of data. Such a tool needs to enhance the understanding of the messages that big data conveys, as well as take on board the complex and often multi-dimensional interactions of data and advance overall transparency.

To help satisfy this need, the OPEC Secretariat and the UAE Ministry of Energy have embarked on the Oil and Gas Big Data Project, aimed at developing a sophisticated, comprehensive and easy-to-use multi-dimensional big data tool for analyzing publicly available oil and gas data.

The platform will consist of a set of high standard analytic tools, employing data-driven approaches, optimization and statistical analysis techniques, as well as interactive maps, charts and data tables, which will be presented on a user-friendly IT platform. The facility will initially be linked to publicly available relevant oil market databases and will have the capacity to display raw figures, cross-comparing time series between countries, flows and products. Future planned expansions of the project will introduce advanced information technology, web and text mining techniques, as well as statistical, econometric and optimization methods.

The Oil and Gas Big Data Tool has the potential to fill the existing data analytics gap, placing available oil and gas data at the fingertips of market stakeholders and becoming the go-to analysis platform for comprehensive, well-presented, user-friendly and transparent oil and gas-related information.

The price of petrol data released by National Bureau of Statistics shows that the states with the lowest petrol price are Ogun NGN144.9 as well as Abuja, Delta, Ekiti, Gombe, kano, kwara and Osun which are NGN145.0. However, the states with the highest average PMS prices are Yobe, Bayelsa and Enugu which are NGN161.7, NGN161.3 and NGN154.5 respectively.

Mainly four major states in Nigeria -Abuja, Kano, Lagos and Rivers states shows this trend from March 2016 to March 2017.

From the data above, on 13 months average, Abuja has the lowest petrol price of NGN116.6 while Rivers state has the highest price of NGN149.2 for march 2016 to march 2017. For the month of June and August Abuja, Lagos and Kano has the same fuel price of N145.

According data provided by NBS, on year on year basis Abuja fuel price increased by 38.2% and 0.0% on MoM basis.

Lagos increase YoY basis is 63.7% and 1.8% MoM. Kano increased 16.7% YoY and 0.0% MoM. On the other hand, Rivers was 13.2% YoY and 0.2% MoM.

The Nigerian Stock Exchange “The Exchange” or “NSE” is pleased to notify the market about its proposed changes to the framework regarding the trading of Real Esta​te Investment Trusts (REITs); and Closed End Funds listed on The Exchange.

The proposed changes, which will be implemented over the next three (3) quarters of 2017 are aimed at promoting transparency, disclosure, visibility and liquidity of listed REITs and Closed End Funds in our market. The changes will also make it easier for existing and potential investors to access information required to make investment decisions thereby contributing to the growth of these products in our market. ​

The proposed changes are as follows:
I. Rules: Specific rules relating to REITs and Closed End Funds are to be incorporated into the Rulebook of The Exchange.
II. Periodic Disclosure: REITs and Closed End Funds listed on The Exchange are to submit quarterly financials and audited full year financial statements to The Exchange via the NSE X-Issuer Portal. The financials will be accessible to the pubic via the NSE’s website and other NSE platforms.
III. Key Performance Metrics: REITs and Closed End Funds listed on The Exchange are to submit on a weekly basis, key performance metrics (as applicable) to the NSE which will be accessible via the NSE’s website. In addition, the Fund Managers will be required to post the information on their website. The information to be provided will include:
Net Asset Value (NAV),
Number of properties,
Property type/distribution,
Occupancy rates,
Delinquency rates on rents,
Average Property age,
any other relevant information.

The prescribed submission format will be communicated to the Issuers/Fund Managers in due course.

IV. Reclassification: REITs and Closed End Funds listed on The Exchange will be reclassified from the Main Board to a separate board specially created for REITs and Closed End Funds under the Equities Market.

Further to the proposed changes above, The Exchange is planning to host the first REITs Workshop before the end of the second quarter of 2017, to further engage with the relevant stakeholders within the market, on the proposed developments.

Fund Managers to the REITs and Closed End Funds are encouraged to embark on consistent marketing campaign on the developments, and provide detailed information to sensitize and educate investors about this asset class, as a viable alternative investment vehicle.
