All players that had a bad career at Emirates talked of how winger restricted their flow to the positions he disciplined them too.

He was doing that to Ramsey and then when Barça came for him way back and gave some analysis on his game style, PA winger got afraid, and gave Ramsey a free role which has been helping him and the team so far...

Yet PA is afraid, and the fear is the fear of the backline, he feels if he allows more freedom to some players, it would backfire. so risk taking is minimal.

Iwobi is a player that need such free role in the team.

Never has his teammates used to his strength. He looks just like one part ofbthe team that they can do without, which is not good. They understand Mineral going front than Iwobi on the wings@teammates. Dunno why Ozil don't wanna have fun and swap with him to just tweak things a Lil.

Fans know this, but don't want to admit this fact.

Glad he will outlive this team....he has age on his side...
Actually from a tactical perspective, playing Ramsey on the right was not a bad idea at that time. It was the real season that Coq - Santi pivot was successful. It also brought balance to the side. With Arteta being injured, it was impossible to play Ramsey as a CM because Coquelin isn't good at building up play and neither is Ramsey himself. That was one of the reasons Xhaka was bought.
The club have always known Ramsey stats i.e covering ground, etc was crazy.

I know Lukaku in Belgium before he came to Chelsea. He already made name for himself and when he played I knew he was good but Salah was nobody when he came to Chelsea.

Salah was out of place when he played for Chelsea. Not Impressive
Salah was actually great for Basel in the champions league. That's why Liverpool and Chelsea fought for him. He wasn't that great when he got his chances at Chelsea, but he should've been given more time.

and Ighalo and ideye can both pass the ball better than the midfielders we currently have...?
Aside mikel....we can as well try iwobi there once more...he tried with his passes against the serbians...
the problem mainly was Ighalo positioning...and iwobi wasn't used to the role yet....
apart from iwobi....it won't be bad if someone like aluko can be tried....kelechi nwakali can come in after the world cup...

definetely not ideye and Ighalo...I don't see them as better passer of the ball....
I've already said I wanted a creative player. We are talking if we are to take a 3rd striker. Ideye is different to Nacho and Ighalo. He is a target man. Get hold up play, harrasses defenders. He wouldn't be a bad option.

We are not just talking of hold up play, we are talking about an extra striker that would add something different to the team this current team doesn't possess...Umar has that unpredictability and dynamism about him...Ideye doesn't have this..in fact ideye and Ighalo have similar skill set except Ighalo is more skillful than him..Umar is a totally diff guy with his style of play..
Unpredictability?? He's tall and decent on the ball for his height. Hustles alot. What else?
And Ideye isn't similar to Ighalo. He has better hold up play.
If we're going for a 3rd CF, Ideye is my first bet. Personally I'd prefer looking for creativity. Aluko is my first bet.

Ideye has 6 goals in 27 games for the super eagles... That is 1 goal every 4.5 games.... His record is even worse than Ighalo.. How does that make him a better option in finishing?

Ideye-Emenike partnership was 5 years ago 2013.. Since then, several things have happened, Emenike for one is no longer in the team.

Ideye has failed to impress in the confederations cup, went on a terrible barren spell for Nigeria, failed in West brom, had a decent spell in greece, was poor in China, has not been great in Spain and He has been left out the last three games with no injury.

Ideye is a hard-working player but his recent results are limited. Facts...

In terms of style of play, Ideye and Ighalo are also fairly similar...

Granted, we need creativity and it might be late for someone like Umar but it does not mean that it should not be talked about.
Umar name popped up because some feel we need someone with hold up play correct??
I'm sorry if I'm a coach, the only reason I'd pick him over Ideye at the moment is that he has a greater upside. If we were to pick who I expect to perform better in a tournament, I'd pick Ideye no doubt.
Ideye is more similar to Deeney than Ighalo in my honest opinion. Ideye can hold the ball up better than Ighalo. Both can play together.

I hate reading about this link up play...
we are talking of strikers scoring goals....and here you are sir...you're talking of ideye.
even keshi acknowledged the reason for leaving him out of 2014 world cup..because the team need to score goals...

Ighalo is not a better striker...because he is not a potent goal scorer....
for now...I will want umar and dessers to ne tried....and let's see what they have to offer in training.....both i believe to be a better finisher that both...we need someone that can be at least lethal in front of goals....
We are in need of someone that link midfield with attack i.e creativity. We have Iheanacho who is one of the best finishers around. Creativity without Mikel is the main issue we have.

Nothing to be offended for sir, you are only expressing your opinion...Ideye doesn't have Umars dynamism and unpredictability..they both have poor finishing in common...I doubt ideye has anything to offer this team..his hold up play and linkage is already being offered by Ighalo...

As it stands, Rohr wants to use Musa has our third striker but that doesn't stop him from playing him on the wing..all this guys we are clamouring for might not make the 23man list..I really don't want Musa has our third striker,.
Let's stop this. Assuming we're taking out finishing, Ideye is comfortably a better option than Umar. I like Umar, but sorry Ideye is better when it comes to linking up play. I also think Ideye is underrated on the ball. Like someone said earlier, he can play alongside Ighalo/Nacho in a 4-3-3 which can easily morph to a 4-4-2 or as the main CF with someone like Nacho out wide.
Ideye was 75 percent responsible for Emenike's success from the 2013 afcon and afterward. Emenike mostly struggled without him.
I personally feel we need creativity. Aluko for example can play as a 10, outwide and even as a false 9. That's the type of options we should be looking to add to the team(assuming if Rohr is still scouting)

Oliseh Defeats Fortuna Sittard In Dutch FA Tribunal, To Be Financially Compensated

By Johnny Edward:

The Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB) tribunal has found second division club Fortuna Sittard guilty of ‘black money payment’ and has ruled that they must pay their suspended Nigerian coach Sunday Oilseh part of his salary as compensation, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

Got something to say? The let your voice be heard! Back Pass *Sport related topics only*
‘Black money payment’ is an illegal payment for a job done in which tax is not paid to the government and it is punishable in the Netherlands.

Reports in Dutch outlets confirmed the KNVB verdict and added that the tribunal also ruled that Oliseh is obliged to return to his post as Fortuna Sittard’s manager till the end of May.

“I’m delighted at the ruling and the most important thing for me in the judgment was that it was stated that they did not find anywhere that I was a bad employee,” Oliseh told CSN shortly after he left the tribunal. “The judgment came like an hour ago; it’s a 20-page judgment. My assistant coaches will also be compensated.

“The Federation gave the President of Fortuna Sittard (Isitan Gun) one week to pay me the compensation or to withdraw the request to terminate my contract. If he does withdraw it means he will pay more that the stipulated compensation fee.”

Oliseh however did not reveal the amount he will be compensated with.

Meanwhile, Completesportsnigeria.com also reliably gathered that Oliseh will sue the President of Fortuna Sittard for damages in the coming weeks.

The former Super Eagles captain and captain also took to Twitter to share the good news.

“Dutch court finds Fortuna Sittard guilty for not being a good employer to Sunday Oliseh and sanctions Fortuna. Most importantly The Knvb Court stated that Oliseh has not acted as a bad employee!” Oliseh wrote on Twitter.

“Consequentially, negating false claims made by Fortuna. God is great!

“The court further sanctions Fortuna Sittard to compensate me (Oliseh) financially immediately.

“I am obliged to stay as a Fortuna employee till the month of May 2018.Thanks 2 all my well wishers for your valued support all through this injustice. Thankful to God 4 his blessings!”

I have always wanted to ask this question. What did Aluko do wrong that our coaches tend to neglect him? That guy IMHO is really an asset especially now that we having a dearth of attacking midfielders. He still has age on his side and always on top of his game every weekend. He has overcome his injury woes. He never underperformed the few times he wore the GWG and he adores the National team. I'm tired of seeing our midfield collapse whenever Mikel ain't there (subbed off), please Rohr should bring back Aluko because he is exactly what this team needs at the moment. My heart aches whenever I see Agu doing those craps he does in the name of a midfielder
This guy scored a brace in his last game for us. He's versatile, creative and scores goals. It's crazy how he hasn't been considered

Sunday Oliseh, Fortuna Sittard disagree over court ruling

A court has ruled in favour of Sunday Oliseh in his dispute with Dutch clun Fortuna Sittard

According to Sunday Oliseh,  an arbitration panel has ruled in his favour in his dispute with Fortuna Sittard, but the Dutch club in their own statement announced the ruling was what they had hoped for.

Oliseh said the panel ordered the club to pay off the coach after acting as “bad employers” while also sanctioning them.

However, in their own statement Fortuna Sittard said they are pleased Oliseh cannot return to the club as coach.

Oliseh announced the court’s ruling.

“Dutch court finds Fortuna Sittard guilty for not being a good employer to Sunday Oliseh and sanctions Fortuna,” he wrote on Twitter.

“Most importantly the Knvb court stated that Oliseh has not acted as a bad Employee!!

“Consequently negating false claims by Fortuna. God is Great!

“The court further sanctions Fortuna Sittard  compensate me (Oliseh) immediately financially.

“I am obliged to stay as Fortuna Employee till the month of May 2018.

“Thanks 2 all my well wishers for your valued support all through this injustice.

“Thankful to God 4 his blessings!”

At the height of this dispute, the former Nigeria coach claimed that he would have been thrown in jail had he obliged his Turkish employers.

Fortuna Sittard claimed on their own part that they are happy Oliseh cannot force his way back to the club.

“We are very pleased with the outcome of this case and with the decision of the Arbitration Committee of the KNVB that we received today,” said chairman Isitan Gun.

“This independent committee has studied the case in detail and has come to the official decision that Mr. Oliseh cannot return as head coach.

“That was his most important demand and that has now been rejected.

“In addition, we are pleased that Mr Oliseh’s attempts to divert the substance of the matter, by making unfounded accusations and allegations, have not been heard by the committee.

“From now on we can finally fully focus on the remaining games of this season.”

Kayode will probably struggle too if he played with the midfield we did in the friendlies. He loves through balls and hustles really hard, but his hold up play doesn't look that good from the few games I've watched of him.

Two outsiders Gernot Rohr needs to consider

COLIN UDOH, KWESÉESPN1:52 PM GMT4 Minute Read

EPA/YURI KOCHETKOV

Prior to last month's twin friendlies against Poland and Serbia, Gernot Rohr probably had a fair idea of what the core of his squad going to the FIFA World Cupthis summer would be.

After those matches, he most definitely would have had anywhere between 15 to 18 of his final 23-man squad sorted in his head.

This view was reinforced by Rohr's reluctance -- somewhat to the surprise and consternation of a few fans and media -- of barely giving much playing time to newcomers like Junior Ajayi. Defender Chidozie Awaziem also only got a start because Leon Balogun suffered a late injury.

Despite the consistency in personnel, both games came off as dire eyesores distinguished mostly by three key issues: a lack of cohesion, bluntness in the final third, and a goalkeeping inadequacy.

While the current personnel may well need just a little time together to do the reboot necessary to plug those holes, some additional personnel could be the answer. Like these two for instance ...

Obafemi Martins of NigeriaLefty Shivambu/Gallo Images/Getty Images

OBAFEMI MARTINS
From a purely numbers point of view, the Super Eagles didn't do too badly in World Cup qualifying.

They scored 12 goals in total in their run to securing the first of Africa's five World Cup spots, which was second only to DR Congo, who scored 14 but lost out to Tunisia by one point.

But to put that into some context, they could have qualified for Russia with two games to spare if the strikers had taken advantage of an early plethora of opportunities in Yaounde.

In their three friendlies since qualifying, they have also scored five goals. Again, not a bad tally, but still with much room left for improvement.

As things stand, Odion Ighalo is Rohr's lead striker. That the German found it necessary to test out Ahmed Musa in that position against Serbia could indicate that he needs a back-up or a different, more pacy alternative.

Obafemi Martins offers a high impact solution. At 33, he has seen and taken some wear and tear, and can be ruled out as a full 90-minute player. But he offers an experienced, pacy, multi-functional and clinical impact substitute for any and all of the three wide attacking positions.

Also, he netted seven goals in 13 appearances for Shanghai Shenhua last season, effectively a goal every other game. Similarly, Ighalo scored 15 in 27 matches.

So far this season, Martins has played one game and hit a hat-trick. Each of those three goals were quintessential Martins. Each had something different -- pace, strength, balance and an unerring finish -- making a strong, on-field case for at least a place in the training camp. Especially if he keeps up the strike-rate.

Age will be one of his downsides, but of course the experience and guidance he will bring to the younger players could be a counterweight.

The main issue would be whether or not his presence disrupts the current dressing-room harmony. If it does, he can be cut early before any damage is done. If not, he brings a world of options to a frontline in serious need of a kick up the backside.

VI Images via Getty Images

DELE AIYENUGBA
Francis Uzoho's splendid international debut against Argentina, all 45 minutes of it, saw him instantly installed by many fans as the Super Eagles first-choice goalkeeper going into these round of friendly matches.

As a matter of fact, many fans actually had him in goal for the World Cup.

But half-a-game is a dangerously low sample size to hand an international starting job to a player -- any player -- let alone a goalkeeper.

Rohr was experienced enough to know that, and sent his goalkeeping coach Enrico Pionetti to the youngster's club to work with him, and then started him in both friendly games. By the end of the 180 minutes, the teenager's inexperience and shortcomings were as obvious as his undoubted talents and potential for greatness.

There was a general consensus that he was not ready to be the World Cup number one.

Interim first-choice Ikechukwu Ezenwa does not seem to have the full trust of fans or the coaching staff, and Daniel Akpeyi's struggles are well documented.

Like Martins, Dele Aiyenugba offers an experienced, big-game alternative to explore during the training camp. He was in the 2010 World Cup squad, and has been consistent starter with Hapoel Ashkelon in Israel.

Admittedly, age and the league he plays in will count in the minus column, but goalkeeping is about consistency and Aiyenugba not only has experience on his side, but has bags of game-time at a decent European level on his side.

Unlike Martins, there is not even a hint of dressing-room concerns about Aiyenugba, and Rohr will have enough time and at least one friendly game to judge his suitability and competence before he names his final 23.

If so why is he considered a legend in Granada? Benzema is a prime example of a striker who does other things right apart from scoring. The fact is if u do the right things the goals will always come.
To be fair, he mainly scored for them in the Segunda. Ighalo link up and playmaking skills isn't anything close to Benzema. If we wanted someone who would help the team and link up with the wingers, then why not take Ideye as 3rd choice?? Better target man and links up well with Nacho.
