Yeah and they won trophies your jay jay could never win

And they also play for better clubs your jay jay could only dream of
Yeah as squad players. Why didn't Kanu take West Brom to Ucl football since Okocha is overrated because he played at Bolton?
Both played together at NT yet Okocha kept outshone him. Why?

Okocha should be first please
Yekini is only player that's better than him on there.
Your Mikel and Kanu best moments came at under age football.

Okocha didn’t achieve anything ,simple

Mikel was a DM ,I am not comparing his play with okocha but his achievement

I repeat your okocha didn’t achieve anything

Why are you speaking of national team football only ,you ain’t speaking of club football ,maybe you know your jay jay was a failure there grin

Your okocha was making team of the tournament but he can’t win common African player of the year ,make una let person hear word with okocha this and that ,someone that can’t even play top flight football at 32 grin

Did your okocha made numerous team of the season in the epl ,who dash monkey banana ?

Okocha didn’t win African player of the year and king Kanu won it not just once but twice grin

We saw Mikel winning the 2013 afcon and was also instrumental with a very average eagles

Was your okocha insutrumental in the 1994 afcon dad Mikel was in 2013 ? Lol

All this una okocha talk and hype was dead long ago ,naija football fans don open eye Abeg
Mikel didn't achieve anything individually at club football. Stop giving the excuse he was a DM.
Apart from the season under Ancelotti - tell me a season where we can Mikel consistently played close to a world class level?
Don't even get me started with Kanu sef.
Okocha came when he was past his peak and gof nominated for PFA player of the season in HIS FIRST season - something Kanu no been ever smell yet Kanu achieved more at club level individually but Okocha didn't?
31 year old Okocha had more impact at Bolton than Kanu did at Portsmouth and West Brom. Fact!
Kanu was not a starter at Ajax. Fact!
Okocha was the most expensive African player in 98. Kanu wasn't. Fact!
Heck do you Okocha as a midfielder had a better goal ratio in Turkey than Kanu did as an attacker in Ajax?
Again - Respect Okocha!!

Using the following criteria:
1) Performance at national team level (super Eagles only)

2) performance at club level

3) individual accolades won

Comply a list of the 5 greatest Nigerian players of all time...

I'll go first

1) Nwankwo Kanu
2) Jay Jay Okocha
3) Rashid Yekini
4) John Mikel Obi
5) Vincent Enyeama.

Let's go there... Safarigirl, Andrewbaba444, icon4s darkelf/blueelf tbaba1234 Odunayaw Thesupernerd Chriskels Enomakos Bascovanveli Chrisooblog do4luv14, Joebi Komekn Thegoodjoe daveP and other distinguished members of the thread....
1. Yekini
2. Kanu
3. Okocha
4. Mikel
5. Enyeama.
Enyeama was the most consistent at club level out of them all.
Kanu is second place only because of his 2 AFPOTY(one of it he earned due to his performance at an age grade Tourney). We need to be honest and admit he didn't really do ish for SE outside save for a few flashes of brilliance.

Better World Cup than Mikel ,did he win the World Cup ?

Lol ,did he past the round of 16 which is our usual last Bustop ?

What do you mean by a better World Cup ,don’t make it look like okocha took Nigeria to the semi final ogbeni,I need sincere arguement bro and not beer parlour own

Kanu is ahead of okocha ,stop telling me about his first season in arsenal ,Kanu has won African player of the year twice and your okocha has won none ,I guess the 1996 African player of the year Kanu won was his first season at arsenal ,remove sentiment pls

Trust me okocha will play to achieve what Mikel has achieve

Leicester won the league ,and yes Kanté deserved it ,but why is the great Busquets yet to win barca player of the month or laliga player of the year seems you wanna judge by that ?

Okocha dribbles don take over una head

Jay jay didn’t win African player of the year ,deal with that and stop lookin for excuses
Okocha performance at France 98 and heck even 02 > Mikel at WC 18
Okocha 00, 04 AFCON > Mikel 13.
Lool Okocha was apparently an "unproductive" player yet dude scored 30 in 62 games when he was at Turkey?
Kanu won AFPOTY based on Atlanta 96 and his first season at Arsenal. Dude barely did jack afterwards and was mostly a benchwarmer... That is a fact!
Busquets is a first team regular and made numerous team of the seasons. How many did Mikel make while he was at Chelsea?
Okocha >>> Mikel. This should not be up for debate.
Mikel and Kanu never one even one MVP award at AFCON for SE. Okocha made 2 AFCON teams of the tournament. Kanu had zero. Mikel had one.
Abegi!!
Respect Jay Jay!!

That's not the point.

I think we can all agree that Nigerians themselves are the harshest critics when it comes to assessing the state of our nation - take a stroll through any political thread on this website and you'll see that.

What I'm trying to get at is I find it very disingenuous for others to boast about the accolades of their nation when they themselves have not contributed in any considerable way.
Thabo Mbeki was a better president than anything we've had in naija(you could argue obj but I don't think so).

Mikel doesn’t score goals

Your okocha could not play for big club

Okocha didn’t win anything in football ,why can’t you deal with that ?

Yes okocha is good but the hype from you guys is too much ,okocha is no maradona

Okocha will be praying to get what Mikel has achieved

Mikel was playing for a star studded Chelsea team ,even as great as Sergio Busquets I doubt he has even won Barcelona player of the month

Mikel was not playing for below average Bolton,he would have won player of the month there

Stop the okocha hype Abeg ,even at 31/32 dude can’t even play at the top anymore
I don't think Okocha is on Maradona level but to put Mikel ahead of him is disrespectful.
Okocha was the most expensive African player during his time(£14m at 98 is a big deal).
Dude had a better WC than Mikel did.
What stopped Mikel from playing for "average" teams when he wasn't a cemented first 11 player?
Did being a DM stop Kante from getting nominated and winning PFA player of the year? I repeat Okocha had a better career than Mikel.
The only reason id even put Kanu ahead of Okocha is because he was great in his first season at Arsenal.
If not, how many seasons was Kanu a regular first 11 player for Arsenal?

What did Mikel win individually other than a few youth awards?
How many times was Mikel nominated for player of the year?
Okocha not only won Afcon, but he was joint top goal scorer and player of the tournament.
Dude even got a PFA player of the year nomination at Bolton. Mikel didn't even win player of the month throughout his time at Chelsea.
Respect Okocha abeg.

I always fail to understand the braggadocious attitude of Black South Africans.

What have black South Africans produced? What have they accomplished for their nation?

Their cricket team is dominated by South Asians and English Afrikaaners.

Their field hockey teams are dominated by Afrikaaners.

Their mighty springboks’ is dominated by their fellow Dutch Afrikaaners and coloured countrymen.

Their various multinational companies and industries are controlled by Whites.

Indians control commerce in Durban and JoBurg.

And finally, their modern infrastructural development is due to the work of their Afrikaaner slave masters during the Apartheid years (and still to this day!!!)

So my fellow Black South Africans, I ask you a simple question: What have you contributed to the successes of your nation?
Like Nigerians are in the position to ask that?

Even Balotelli , one of the controversial players ever is now a captain for his club.

Mikel is arrogant.. Simple as ABC
You are foolish. Mikel is a 100 percent right to raise concerns about playing in the current situation.
Balotelli is 29. Maguire is 27. I don't know the point you are trying to make mentioning the likes of Alves, Zabaleta and De Jong.

Chelsea Owner Abramovich Makes Offer For Mikel Obi To Join Chelsea Coaching Crew

Former captain of the senior national team of Nigeria John Obi Mikel has been offered a coaching role at English Premier League side Chelsea according to his Nigerian representative Babawo Mohammed.
Mikel is presently playing for Turkish side Trabzonspor who are battling for the league title but his future outside the pitch appears to have been settled following the offer of a chance to join the coaching set up at his former club Chelsea.

Owner of Chelsea Roman Abramovich told the 33 year old that he will get a chance to start his managerial career at the club once he calls it quit with football as reward for his ten and half years service to the club.

” For now Mikel is pushing to win the league with Trabzonspor but in the future he will return to Chelsea as a coach maybe with the youth team or as one of the assistants of the first team. That promise was made to him by Abramovich”, Babawo told Owngoalnigeri.com.
” At the end of his career he will do his coaching badge and join Chelsea. It’s a reward for his ten and half year stay at the club. A lot of former Chelsea players are part of the team now base on same thing that will bring Mikel back after his career”.

At the moment all of the backroom staff of head coach of Chelsea Frank Lampard are all former players of the club and even the youth teams of Chelsea is also coached by ex players of the team.

Mikel’s teammate Petr Cech is a director at the club and the club failed in their bid to lure the duo of Didier Drogba and Claude Makalele to join Lampard when he was appointed coach in the summer.
Didn't Mikel say he wouldn't go into coaching? Something about "doing business".

He was needed as a RB, but not anymore.

His versatility is of no use to Rohr, as we've never seen Shehu being played at a different position other than the RB. Balogun and Ajayi were even played as midfielders, Shehu never.
What attacking midfielder would you have invited over him?

RB - Aina and Ehiz, as a makeshift, Awaziem is the first choice

CM - Aribo and Azeez/Etebo

DM - Ndidi and Etebo, as a makeshift, Ajayi would be preferred

How does the invitation of Shehu make sense?
Shehu was first choice makeshift rb before he got injured. Maybe Rohr sees him as that. Aina competes with JC as LB.
Ndidi is just coming back from injury. Shehu might have been invited for that reason.
Again, I'm not a big fan but he is versatile contrary to what some think.
I'd have preferred to invite a creative midfielder over him but it is what it is.
He is one of Rohr's trusted lieutenants.
