jihday: I'm not saying he deserve it, but it's nothing to fret about he'll basically be a cheer leader
Well we've now found out that he won't be first assistant like initially thought. If that was the case, he'd be in charge of the CHAN Eagles... That's more than a cheer leader.
SPORTGernot Rohr reacts to appointment of Joseph Yobo as his assistant
Published 20 hours ago on February 13, 2020 By John Owen Nwachukwu
Head coach of the Nigerian senior national team, Gernot Rohr, has reacted to the appointment of former Super Eagles defender Joseph Yobo as the team’s Assistant coach.
Rohr aimed a dig at the former Nigerian captain, saying that he heard Yobo has no coaching qualifications.
DAILY POST reported that the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, announced the appointment of the former Everton star yesterday.
The German gaffer said he was not informed of Yobo’s appointment before it was made.
Speaking with BBC, Rohr said, “Joseph Yobo is welcome to the team, of course. I have heard that he has no coaching diplomas, so I will talk to him about this.
“If what I have heard is correct, I will tell Yobo that he needs to do the training required, to grow as a coach.
“The NFF has the right to pick one assistant coach for my staff, so they are the ones to communicate the reasons for the appointment, not myself. I was informed by Amaju Pinnick, in a telephone call, before it was made public.
“I don’t know why Amapakabo has been removed. I worked very well with him. He did a very good job with me.
“I regret his departure. But since the NFF have the right to take this decision, there is nothing I can do about it.”
He said he would be more than happy to develop Joseph Yobo as well as other coaches in the country.
Yobo has the record as one of the highest capped former Nigeria internationals and represented the country in different World Cups and African Nations Cups.
Joebie: What is even the proof that he would succeed? His defenders are so confident that he would succeed based on how they feel and nothing concrete.. It could go either way. But I wouldnt take chances especially when we need a sound assistant to Rorh.
Punditry. Just imagine. Rohr has already said he wasn't his decision so this makes even less sense to me.
jihday: what did Siasia show you in 2005 to tell you he'll be a success?
Siasia had his credentials and started from the youth teams. You guys are reaching with this Yobo dick riding. He doesn't deserve this job. Simple as that.
safarigirl: I don't really care for what he has shown, like I said, I only care for results and as long as he has not shown me anything to prove otherwise, I cannot waste my time on negativity.
Everyone deserves a chance, no be everybody go get experience before dem get work, some people will get experience on the job, and not every experienced worker is actually good. At least, that much we have proven, with some of your listed examples.
You are already expecting him to fail, I have no expectations. I keep an open mind for now, and that is what a Super Eagles fan should do, instead of hoping the (assistant) coach fails.
I am not expecting him to fail - I just want things to be done the right way. The only way this would make sense is if Rohr personally asked for him(well acceptable at least). This just looks like NFF listening to Odegbami in thinking that Yobo is actually good enough to coach us to a WC.
BascoVanVeli: He didn't have the required license for Spain and that is why he got suspended. Keep reading that article, even the parts u have covered
So sporting director gets is now assistant coaching abi?
B license allowed him to be an assistant but not enough to coach castilla B. I mentioned that to show you he has also been involved in administrative and scouting jobs before he even got assistant. Yobo has done what exactly? Punditry?
chrisooblog: omeruo, ekong tell me how much better peak Yobo is better than these two
Lool at Ekong and Omeruo. For one, Peak Yobo was MUCH better at reading the game than those two. Two, he was also better on the ball than both. He matches them on physicality as well.
BascoVanVeli: But he was assistant to Ancelotti in 2013 when they won the champions league na
He already had a UEFA B license in order to be assistant. Not only that, he had already served as sporting director and advisor to both Perez and Mourinho.
Real Madrid Castilla manager, and former senior side star player, Zinedine Zidane has been granted his UEFA Pro License today and is now able to manage a football club at the highest level in Europe.
According to the report:
Zidane has been working as coach of Real Madrid's Castilla ‘B' team but was officially listed as an assistant because he had yet to complete the mandatory qualification required by the Spanish Football Association. But now the 42-year-old, who won 108 caps for France, is free to pursue his career after revealing he successfully passed the course on Friday.
If you recall, Zidane was in hot water last fall as he did not have the proper coaching badges but a suspension was lifted after he was cleared to manage by the Administrative Tribunal of Spanish sport (TAD). Seen as one of the frontrunners to replace current senior manager Carlo Ancelotti should he lose his position this summer, Zidane has also been linked to replace Marcelo Bielsa at Marseille should they part with him.
Zidane's Castilla side sits in seventh place in the Segunda B Group 2 with two matches left to play.
And your point is? Zizou without a license could not even be seen as head coach OF CASTILLA B yet you're saying someone who hasn't even coached or set up an U16 team should be named assistant because he's good at punditry?? Has Yobo coached a team equivalent to CASTILLA B?
meum: Given what is going on today, I am convinced of one thing: Even if Nigeria breaks into two or more pieces in the next five years, the style of leadership/kind of leaders might remain the same/similar in the various "pieces" that made up Nigeria. Reason being that it will be the same old wine that will be filled in the "new bottles". Mark my words and remember them!
TheSuperNerd: Ahhh... You've really been busy ooo. You don't know about Karim Adeyemi of RB Salzburg? Left footed, quick, skillful, daring... And just 18 yrs old. Will jersey #27 for the RB Salzburg first team in this season's second half after returning from his loan to Liefering in Bundesliga 2 (Austria).
charlesemeka85: berge is a dm while yusuf is a cm who can be deployed as an AM as well. moreover he is just 19 and doesn't qualify for clearance to play in the epl yet. barca, ajax, anderlecht and wolves are interested as well. sheffield made a bid of 1.3 million pounds but gotenburg wants 3.5m so the offer was rejected but rumor has it that the epl sides will up their bid before the end of the transfer window tomorrow
jimmyiovine: Meanwhile some people are still waiting for private company to recruit coaches for them. How can PWC be doing recruitment, are they a sports company?! From what I know they are a finance/economic company. Na wa for Naija
They are a consulting firm who deal with pretty much everything.
