Rohr unsure if he has handled his last game with Nigeria 16 hours ago Israel Iko Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr is not sure if he has overseen his last game with Nigeria.
Rohr led the Super Eagles to victories in the opening matches of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Benin and Lesotho.
The next set of qualifiers for Nigeria is billed for August and September 2020 against Sierra Leone and Benin before rounding off the group qualifiers with Lesotho in November same year.
And with Rohr's contract expiring in June, the coach may have managed his last competitive game with Nigeria.
Rohr is not sure if he will still be in charge of the team after June, but hopes the Super Eagles continue winning and qualify for the 2021 AFCON.
“We have a good team, I enjoy working with this team, we have very good players and with two wins we are progressing,” he told the media after the Eagles 4-2 win over Lesotho in Maseru on Sunday.
“I hope this continues after the end of my contract but for my future, that is in the hands of the officials but I’m not here to talk about that.”
There are indications that Rohr's contract will be extended till the end of the 2021 AFCON.

TheGoodJoe: Story. It does not work that way. There is a lot of bias and preference that goes with the English game.
Is Maguire a better defender than Soyuncu? I doubt but see how Soyuncu was a dishwasher and towel washer last season. Is John Evans better than him? But he did not have a sniff.
What about how Albrighton kept on getting a steady run while Ahmed Musa was playing junior football at Leicester City.
Victor Moses was posting repeated man of the match performances under Conte then with the snap of the fingers he was gone. You think that happens with cutting it?
Is Tominay a better footballer than Fred? But, he will get the nod over Fred any day. What is even helping the English league is the rise of foreign coaches, if not it would have been worse. Disagree with you in regards to Vic Moses and Soyuncu. Sarri wasn't going to play a 3-5-2 and let's be honest, would you pick Vic Moses out wide over Hazard, Willian and Pedro? In regards to Soyuncu, he was rightly eased in as a young CB fresh from Bundesliga. That's why Leicester sold Maguire with no worries. Even Fred.. Wasn't it Mou that picked up Mctominay from the reserves? Why would he bench a guy he asked for and club spent 52m on if he was performing well?? |

charlesemeka85: liverpool owners don't know anything but got it right by hiring kloop and allowing him to make decisions when it comes to players recruitment.
kloop single handedly transformed liverpool and made the right choices when bringing in players.
he signed robertson from hull
salah from roma when no big team were willing to have him after flopping at chelsea.
brought in matip and firmino from germany on a cheaper price when compared to today's market
graduated and gave arnaut a chance in the first team
brought in sane for a decent price from southampton.
brought in ox from arsenal on a good price
the only player that cost him much was van dijk and currently they are reaping the fruits
liverpool and kloop got their recruitment right for the past 2 seasons which is the main reason the team is among the best in europe currently Nah I think their owners are good. They appointed a transfer committee that knows how to use data well not like Arsenal and their mumu Stat DNA. I heard Klopp wanted Julian Brandt as first choice over Mane and didn't even want Keita. Liverpool has a good scouting and transfer committee. |

charlesemeka85: Belgian First Division A club KV Oostende inform via their official website that they have re-signed Nigeria international Joseph Akpala for the remainder of the 2019-2020 season with an option for next season.
The experienced striker has returned to KV Oostende following his release by Saudi Pro League side Al-Faisaly in February 2019.
Akpala racked up 97 appearances for KV Oostende in his earlier spell with the club from 2015 to 2018, scoring 20 goals and had six assists to his name.
A product of Bendel Insurance, he lists Sporting Charleroi, Club Brugge, Werder Bremen and Kardemir Karabukspor among his former clubs.
A division lower, KVC Westerlo have confirmed that they have ended their collaboration with retired Nigeria international Emmanuel Emenike.
The Belgian First Division B team explained that they mutually agreed to part ways with the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations top scorer because he could not be brought to the level that both parties had intended.
In five outings for KVC Westerlo in the league, Emenike failed to register his name on the scoresheet. Emenike is supposed to be 32...see how washed he looks. Smh. |

charlesemeka85: Ragnick is to come in as a sporting director. the only coach linked to united of late is allegri
the problem with united in not the coach but the management board and the glazers family who are just after making money and knows little on taking a massive club of united's standard to the next level since fergie retired.
they are more focused on bringing in marque signings for the business aspect of the game where more revenues are brought in from the sells of shirts, souvenirs and monitoring the stock market every single minute.
for united to get back to its best the glazers have to sell the club while a good director of football should be hired to focus on the footballing aspect of the club while woodward concentrate on the business side.
this is one of the major reasons why spanish midfielder ander herera left the team citing that the club hierachy focus more on the financial aspect of the game rather than the sporting aspect.
also van gaal said that the difference between bayern and united is that the latter focus more on raking in revenues than equipping the academy with good talented young stars who will go on to graduate to the snr side in the future Ragnick is also a decent coach. Dude set the template for modern German coaches like Klopp and Nagelsmann to use. But yeah... He's better as a DOF. I wish Arsenal had gone for him instead of that fraud Emery. Van Gaal is right. I think he'd have done better if the board were on the same page with him. I remember when people were laughing at him for wanting Saido Mane and making a deal of it when Man United failed to sign him. Woodward should be fired asap or man united will be the new Newcastle United in 15-20 years. Those Glazers are something else. You know they rejected a £3.5B offer from an Arab buyer to sell the club?? Just like Kroenke is doing with Arsenal, Manure is good for them to use as collateral to take out loans. |

charlesemeka85: you are right but man untd management are focused on rebuilding the team with young unknown qualities rather than making the same mistake that cost them millions of pounds on established players who joined just to reap the club off.
the project in united currently is for the future which is the main reason solkjear is not pressured at the moment and most of the future investments will be on British young stars who will play for the badge.
the likes of sancho, overrated declan rice and longstaff, chilwill, madisson, rennes wizkid carmvinga, monchenglabach's swiss international zakari and haaland are their top targets for the next 2 transfers while bale may join in january on loan from madrid Not a bad idea but they definitely need to sack Ole. I must admit I'm loving Osimhen all round play plus this synergy he has with Samu. However, I think he needs to work on his finishing.. Not necessarily his finishing, more of the way he strikes the ball. WE are seeing two sides of him right now... The one that latches on passes on the break with breathtaking pace and the link up target man type. |

MetalJigsaw: ROHR’S SUPER EAGLES POLICY RESPONSIBLE FOR OLYMPIC DISASTER? opera.com
Friday marked the end of a terrible year for Nigerian football, as the under 23 national team drew 0-0 with South Africa, a result that saw them eliminated from the race to the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
A disjointed performance by the Eagles saw them fail to create significant goalscoring chances of note. And on the rare occasions when they did, a combination of bad decisions in the final third, and their own profligacy combined to deny them even the slightest chance of a sniff of goal.
The worst of the lit came with time running down when Taiwo Awoniyi picked out substitute Sunday Faleye at the back stick with time and space only for him yo head wide with the goal and its keeper at his mercy.
While there was hope that this team would at least make it to the semifinal and give themselves a chance to get to Japan, the reality was that they never stood a chance.
Imama Amapakabo did not get the players he wanted for this tournament. Those he did get, were simply not good enough or not playing enough at their clubs. And it showed. Kelechi Nwakali, for all his talent, was a liability rather than an asset for one and a half games, clearly needing match time.
Same thing applied to Taiwo Awoniyi, whose lack of game time at Mainz 05 was plain to see. Most of the others huffed and puffed and failed too blow anything down. Of the team’s key components, only captain Azubuike Okechukwu looked decent enough to wear the green and white shirt.
It is a disappointing end for Nigeria, a country with some of the best under 23 players on the continenty. Infact, most of the entire Super Eagles squad is composed of players under the age of 23 who would have been real contenders at the Games.
From goalkeepers Francis Uzoho (21) and Maduka Okoye (20), defender Chidozie Awaziem (22), midfielder Wilfred Ndidi (22) and forwards Samuel Kalu (22), Samuel Chuwkueze (20) and Victor Osimhen (20).
Osimhen, Awaziem and Uzoho were particularly critical to the team’s qualifying run to the Afcon tournament when they did play. But, apart from Uzoho who is injured, and Okoye who was called up straight to the Super Eagles, the others would have made a world of difference to this team’s qualifying race.
Unfortunately, Rohr’s policy of calling up, and making young players the fulcrum of his Super Eagles squad in combination with CAF’s decision to schedule their qualifiers and tournament at the same time as the senior team, has hurt the Olympic Eagles. Fatally.
So the best under 23 players were not available to represent the country and try to qualify for the Olympic Games. Meaning they will also miss a chance to show their worth at that level.
Not that Rohr’s strategy is a bad one, mind. It helps build a Super Eagles team that will last for at least a decade.
The problem, the real problem, is with the conveyor belt that processes talent out of Nigeria.
And the proof is right in our faces. The Olympic Eagles loss follows swiftly on the back of failures by the other national teams across the board, all in the last few months of the year. The domestic players lost out over two legs to Togo in the race to qualify for the African Nations Championship. By the slim margin of one goal. One goal.
This followed the same team getting beaten by both Togo and then Cape Verde in the WAFU Cup.
Paul Aigbigun’s under 20 team were unceremoniously dumped out in similar fashion, as did the under 17 team at the World Cup.
The the Super Falcons, who had dominated Africa for years, were also eliminated from Olympic qualifying by Cote d’Ivoire.
Oh, and as an aside, Amapakabo has now set the dubious record of being the first Nigerian coach to fail with three national teams in record time. His list of infamy includes the CHAN Eagles, WAFU Eagles and now U23 Eagles. His future as an international coach does not exactly look bright. At least, not right now.
http://news-af.feednews.com/news/detail/9d1a4c983d6daf7e7898ef79b53c6be0?client=news Thrash. Rohr did not stop Imama from inviting the likes of Ejuke, Kingsley, Okereke, Oforboh, etc. Imama is a 100 percent responsible. These thrash crook ass journalists need to leave Rohr alone abeg!! |
