Biblically, confession plays a crucial role in spiritual warfare in two primary, interconnected ways: (1) confessing the finished works of Christ for cleansing from sin, forgiveness, and breaking the enemy's hold through iniquity, (2) confessing (declaring) God's truth, identity in Christ, and His promises aloud as a weapon to resist the devil, demolish strongholds, and enforce victory. These align with the broader biblical picture of warfare not being against flesh and blood, but against spiritual forces (Ephesians 6:12), where our weapons include truth, faith, the Word of God - the "sword of the Spirit", and prayer (Ephesians 6:10-18). 1. Confession of the finished works of Christ for SIn: Breaking Power Through Cleansing and Light Unconfessed sin gives the enemy legal ground, foothold, or access (like darkness where shame and accusation thrive). Bringing sin into the light through confession removes that ground, invites God's mercy and cleansing, and weakens demonic influence. Key scriptures: 1 John 1:9 — "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." Confession restores fellowship with God and purifies us, closing doors the enemy exploits. James 5:16 — "Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working." Confessing to trusted believers brings healing and breaks isolation/shame, which Satan uses as weapons. Proverbs 28:13 — "Whoever conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy." Hiding sin hinders spiritual progress; confession releases mercy and victory. In spiritual warfare contexts, frequent confession (including sacramental or personal) is seen as a powerful act that can even liberate from strong oppression, as it immerses us in God's love and removes the devil's accusations (Revelation 12:10-11 — we overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony). By confessing sins, we: Neutralize accusation and guilt. Walk in the light (1 John 1:7), where fellowship with God and believers protects us. Repent and resist the devil effectively (James 4:7 — "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you". 2. Confession of God's Truth and Identity: Declaring Victory as a Weapon The Bible emphasizes the power of our words aligned with God's Word. Speaking (confessing) truth aloud builds faith, renews the mind, casts down lies, and activates spiritual authority. This is often called "positive confession" or "faith-filled declarations" rooted in Scripture. Key scriptures: Romans 10:9-10 — "If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart... you will be saved." Confession with the mouth brings salvation and manifests what we believe spiritually. 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 — "The weapons we fight with... have divine power to demolish strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion... and take every thought captive to obey Christ." Declaring God's truth tears down mental/spiritual strongholds built by lies. Hebrews 4:14 & Hebrews 10:23 — Hold fast to our confession of hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. In warfare, steadfast confession anchors us. Revelation 12:11 — "They have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony." Our spoken testimony (confession of Christ's victory) overcomes the accuser. Jesus modeled this in warfare: In temptation (Luke 4:1-13), He repeatedly confessed Scripture — "It is written" — to defeat Satan directly. In practice, believers declare truths like: "Greater is He who is in me than he who is in the world" (1 John 4:4). "No weapon formed against me shall prosper" (Isaiah 54:17). "I am more than a conqueror through Him who loved me" (Romans 8:37). This verbal confession: Aligns our reality with God's promises. Releases faith (faith comes by hearing — Romans 10:17, including our own voice). Resists the enemy's lies and temptations. Enforces Christ's authority over darkness. Why Confession Matters in Spiritual Warfare Confession isn't magic—it's biblical partnership with God. Sin-confession removes the enemy's leverage (cleansing + light). Truth-confession wields the sword of the Spirit (Word + testimony) to advance and defend. Together, they enable us to stand firm, resist, overcome, and walk in victory. |
Most people who grew up around the protestant/Pentecostal setting will the familiar with this wordings: you must be born again /are you born again? /as a born again. Normal inclination would make one have the assumption that this is the very important position/state to attain in other to be in right standing as a member in the church. Just as terms are used in every other culture and tradition; the use of the term being “Born Again” within the church congregants seems to have been defined by saying specific confessions in varying words at different places of gathering; but all channeled toward admitting that the Lord Jesus has become the confessor’s Lord and savior. It is imparative to say that what is not rightly defined cannot certainly to be rightly applied or understood. Like one of my favorite writer would say: when the purpose of a thing/term/action is not rightly known abuse is inevitable. The knowledge of this term of discuss came from the documentation of the disciple/follower of the Lord Jesus - John the beloved, in the book of John chapter three (3) when he gave an account of the conversations that took place when a Pharisee called Nicodemus, who was a teacher in Israel and came to meet the Lord Jesus at night basically because all of the teaching of the Lord Jesus is centered on the kingdom of God and Heaven. So this man, who has been observing all along, the things that has been happening when the Lord Jesus teaches with miracles following, wanted to know how he, as a teacher could improve himself. The documented conversation from John the beloved went as follows: John 3:1-11 New American Standard Bible The New Birth 1 Now there was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews; 2 this man came to Jesus at night and said to Him, “Rabbi, we know that You have come from God as a teacher; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him.” 3 Jesus responded and said to him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless someone is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” 4 Nicodemus *said to Him, “How can a person be born when he is old? He cannot enter his mother’s womb a second time and be born, can he?” 5 Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless someone is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 That which has been born of the flesh is flesh, and that which has been born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Do not be amazed that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ 8 The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but you do not know where it is coming from and where it is going; so is everyone who has been born of the Spirit.” 9 Nicodemus responded and said to Him, “How can these things be?” 10 Jesus answered and said to him, “You are the teacher of Israel, and yet you do not understand these things? 11 Truly, truly, I say to you, we speak of what we know and testify of what we have seen, and you people do not accept our testimony. John the beloved in verse 3 recorded the Lord Jesus saying that to see the kingdom, Nicodemus needed to be born again. The pronunced Greek word that the Lord Jesus used when he said born again is gennēthē (Be born) anōthen (from above). This was the condition to see the kingdom. From above was interused with the word again. Some other translations emphasis this to understand properly what the action of the term is about and here are some of them: John 3:3 Amplified Bible 3 Jesus answered him, “I assure you and most solemnly say to you, unless a person is born again [reborn from above—spiritually transformed, renewed, sanctified], he cannot [ever] see and experience the kingdom of God.” John 3:3 Expanded Bible 3 Jesus answered, “·I tell you the truth [ Truly, truly I say to you], unless you are born ·again [or from above; this may be a play on words, meaning both “again” and “from above”], you cannot ·be in [experience; see] God’s kingdom.” John 3:3 Complete Jewish Bible 3 “Yes, indeed,” Yeshua answered him, “I tell you that unless a person is born again from above, he cannot see the Kingdom of God.” |
Grace is any word that comes out of the mouth of the Lord Jesus, Thats the essense of the writing. Dtruthspeaker: |
Thanks for the observation, I have changed the highlight to help show the continuations I wanted to make. You have been very helpful. Thank you. Dtruthspeaker: |
Please do well to add your percpective as it is needed for everyone to grow in the knowledge of the Truth Dtruthspeaker: |
If you search the web or dictionaries, you would find qualifying definations to the term grace; qualified by words like the freely given, unmerited love, favor, and forgiveness of God, a gift to humanity rather than a reward for actions. Having read this many definations, I got the feel that it did not lead to a destination as it were, If it should be freely accessible then there should be an access point, person or place; Just like a miner would not just dig up just any land in search of precious metals. The concept of grace being connected to God makes it more of a spiritual thing that came into being physcical. This explains that the actual concept of grace can not be fully understood except through the lens of the Scriptures. The key question to ask is this term that is qualfied as freely given, unmerited love, favor,..... etc what really is it in tangible terms: The person that was closest to the Lord Jesus when he walk the earth gave this account of him in John 1:14 And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us; and we saw His glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. this shows that the fullness of grace was found in him. As simple as that sounds its reveals a deeper truth: That grace from God has no other source in the realm of the flesh except from the Word that became flesh - Jesus. I remember another event in John chapter 7 during the feast at a time when the pharises were looking for ways to arrest and kill him but His time had not yet come. Soldiers were sent to get him but read what they had to say when they returned to their masters 44 And some of them wanted to arrest Him, but no one laid hands on Him. 45 The officers then came to the chief priests and Pharisees, and they said to them, “Why did you not bring Him?” 46 The officers answered, “Never has a man spoken in this way!” other versions said no man ever spoke like this. He was the source of grace and the only one at that, because he carried it in its fullness. In Ephesians 2 verse 8 Paul speaks about the believer being saved by grace through faith. To understand this better we need to understand how the soource of grace Himself puts it: John 12:48 New American Standard Bible 48 The one who rejects Me and does not accept My teachings has one who judges him: the word which I spoke. That will judge him on the last day. So it is about Him and by extension His teaching that defines grace and is grace. The Lord bless and keep you with His teachings (word) |
[quote author=LordCenturion post=132923215]@ DSC7 These people can’t answer the question you asked because they don’t understand what they are worshipping. They will go round and round without giving you a meaningful answer. Even the current Europeans who introduced these jargons can’t answer your questions. Have you read Otem’s book? The writings will answer all your questions, not these people you are asking. The Bible is a book of confusion with many errors because several people in the past edited it. Satan is the same person called Jehovah (Yahweh). Although the name was separated and many references were removed by old scholars, you can still find it in the Bible. 99% of Bible stories are all lies. Before you read Otem’s book, first compare these two verses in the Bible: 1st Chronicles 21:1-5 and 2nd Samuel 24:1-5. There you will know that Satan is the same person called Jehovah. Otem's written : https://www.nairaland.com/2938907/doctrine-ufos The one online is not complete and some verses were missing , but several people collected soft copy from Otem before he disappeared, you can reach out to me later if you want it. As much as my intention is not to argue or have a debate, I want to write because of those who share the same believe as I do in Christ, I have said this not to be spiteful but to create an assumption from your writting that you are not a follower of Jesus and as such you would not be able to understand scriptures except by the spirit of scripture as I would not be able to understand your book except by the spirit of your book. A key reason why I dont engage in arguements on that line. Any believer that has read my last writing would understand that satan is not a person but a personality that can be occupied by persons from my understanding of scriptures, It like seperating presidency from the president. From scriptures, satan is in play when ever the actions of man contradicts the action of the Lord. Also note that all spirit are of and from the Lord because he created all things, both physical and Spititual. It is important to state that I also do not compare spiritual with contemporary, I only compare spiritual with Spiritual and try to see all other things in the light of the Spirit. Let me now give a spiritual understanding to the 2 verses that he compared because of those that might be gullible to fall from the assersions there. If you look at 1 King 22, it gives an account that clearifies these class of events where the king of Judah and the King of Isreal were planning and the Lord was angry with them. See vs 21-23 21 Then a spirit came forward and stood before the Lord, and said, ‘I will persuade him.’ 22 The Lord said to him, ‘In what way?’ So he said, ‘I will go out and be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.’ And the Lord said, ‘You shall persuade him, and also prevail. Go out and do so.’ 23 Therefore look! The Lord has put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these prophets of yours, and the Lord has declared disaster against you.” I hope this helps @ DSC7 |
DSC7:Let me expantiate it to you, When you say satan its more like a status (read the Lord's conversation with Peter when he said get behind me satan) and not a person as it were, like saying man, Man/male is a status entered into be possessing certain features; mainly having a male reproductive organ, The persons can uses the status of satan like lucifer, the dragon, or the serpent as the bible decribes him even man, satan is a status born from the fall of man. He was not in heaven when he came to tempt the Lord, read the temptation story and you would realize that the bible states that the Devil came to tempt him, it was in the Lord's reponse that he replied by saying get thee behind me satan. that episode makes a distinct differenciation of the two terms (devil and satan) let me stop here not to diviate Where was he(lucifer) when the Lord commissioned Adam I will tell you that from scriptures too: Isaiah 14:12 “How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! this explains that he was made on the first day of creation during the seperation of light and darkness, I hope this helps |
DSC7:To understand the answer to your question, you first have to understand the difference between the World as you mentioned and the Earth. the Earth came to be at creation while the world came to be at the tranfer of dominion from Adam to Lucifer. I would answer you question in physcality because they are not same with spirituality, the event happened after the Lord Jesus rose from the dead and became the advocate for man thereby denying Satan access to the gathering of the sons of God. I hope it helps |
Brownhypo:He lived and lives in Eternity ISH 57:15 For thus says the High and Lofty One Who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: “I dwell in the high and holy place, This is why if you read john 14, Jesus never refer to preparing a place for his disciples in heaven, thats because heaven was already fully created in Genesis, He promised to go prepare a place in His fathers house. I hope this helps. |

mjuvey3:The question is who is prophet. My defination will be from the bible if you permit me Genesis 20:7 Now therefore restore the man his wife; for he is a prophet, and he shall pray for thee, and thou shalt live: and if thou restore her not, know thou that thou shalt surely die, thou, and all that are thine. this verse was written concerning Abraham and it was God Himself telling the king here and defining Abrahams status as a Prophet which Abraham never mentioned himself to be. Nubers12:5-7 5 And the Lord came down in the pillar of the cloud, and stood in the door of the tabernacle, and called Aaron and Miriam: and they both came forth. 6 And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, I the Lord will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream. 7 My servant Moses is not so, who is faithful in all mine house. on sonship yes isreal was is son but Jesus christ was his Only begotten son John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. |
mjuvey3:Exodus 4:22 And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh, Thus saith the Lord, Israel is my son, even my firstborn: Deuteronomy 18 15 The Lord thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken; 16 According to all that thou desiredst of the Lord thy God in Horeb in the day of the assembly, saying, Let me not hear again the voice of the Lord my God, neither let me see this great fire any more, that I die not. 17 And the Lord said unto me, They have well spoken that which they have spoken. 18 I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him. 19 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him. |
DREAMHOMES6970:LUKE 10 38 Jesus and his disciples went on their way. They came to a town. A woman named Martha took him into her home. 39 She had a sister named Mary. Mary sat near the feet of Jesus and she listened to what he said. 40 But Martha was very21- busy doing many things for Jesus. She came to Jesus and said, `Lord, my sister has left me to do all the work. Do you not care? Tell her to come and help me.' 41 The Lord answered her, `Martha, Martha, you are worrying. You are troubled about many things. 42 Only one thing is needed. What Mary has chosen is good. And it will not be taken away from her.' they might not be putting it as right if their sentences are construed that way. Jesus made us understand that it is not principally about the service to him as Martha was about in verse 40 of Luke chapter 10. It is about the word and learning at the feet of christ. service is important to the Lord but it can be lost (matt 7:21-23) it is you knowing him and him knowing him that makes service worth it. |
