Health / Re: Unpaid Salaries: Osun Doctors In Street Protest Against Aregbesola by editor123: 12:18pm On May 04, 2017 |
What is the problem of this set of hypocrites? The governor has assured everyone one that they will all be taken care of. Why is this notorious group allowing the PDP to use them for siniter purposes? Contrary to claims by this section of NMA, the government has actually invested massively in rehabilitating hospitals in the state. The funding of the health sector has also increased year on year as can be seen in the budgets. Osun has second highest number of primary healthcare centres in the country and the state continues to work to improve the health sector. In Osun, they are paid modulated salaries even till April 2017, the governor has not missed one... in some states, they have not earned anything for 12-15 months.

tollyboy5: You need to be schooled. You need information because your brain is deformed. As an engineer, capital projects tops Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola's priority list. For your information, like many projects that is now being copied by the federal government from Osun, his Excellency, Governor of Lagos Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode also copied his model of doing LG roads from Osun. Whiles Lagos did 114 roads of less than 60km, Osun did around 290km in 30 local governments, and that's just LG roads. that almost 10km per LG. Photos of it abounds on the internet, but I know you are too lazy to google, so I have helped you placed them here.

Politics / Catholic Faithful Laud Aregbesola's Commitment To Religious Impartiality by editor123: 7:39am On Jun 30, 2016 |
The representative of the Catholic Church Pope, Papa Nuncio, Most Reverend Augustine Kasujja, has commended Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola for his extreme spirit of solidarity, cordiality and hospitality. The international religious cleric also applauded the state government for adopting policies that facilitated equity among the members of the existing religions. Rev. Kasujja who led the delegation of the Catholic Church, made the state during a courtesy call to the state governor, at government house, Osogbo. The cleric stated that the antecedents of the present administration in the state was a clear manifestation to the fact that, Osun remains one of the states in the country with high level religious tolerance. Rev. Kasujja who described Governor Aregbesola as a religious peacemaker, said the Governor's reception is very exceptional even in spite the fact that he is a muslim. The cleric applauded the state for resorting to dialogue whenever there is misunderstanding, saying greater impacts of the state on religious propagation would be forever commended. He averred that the process of dialogue in solving disputes and related issues had over the years contributed significantly towards the mutually beneficial relationship between and among the various faiths in the state. Rev. Kasujja who described dialogue as the only mechanism to avert violence, pledged catholic's commitment to continuous spirit of dialogue in resolving issues. He called on the adherents of all religions to champion dialogue as the only tool capable of restoring peace, love unity and togetherness, saying any attempt to wave this off, the society is doomed and crumbled. Rev. Kasujja said very individual must as a matter of necessity seeks peace, adding that once it missing, one is demanding for vendetta which according to him can cause unavoidable societal catastrophe. He said, "the essence of life is love and every human being must brace up this indispensable valuable to ensure peaceful cohabitation. "By extension, every human being is created to propagate the continuity of the existing peace and as well ascertain and maintain peaceful co-existence among themselves. "Based on these reasonable reasons, all religious adherents must imbibe the noble spirit of dialogue for better mediation and reconciliation whenever there is natural misunderstanding. "We must accept and tolerate one another's beliefs as we are created to relate without any form of violence. Rev. Kasujja lamented over the state of education in Africa, saying there is a need for government at all levels to come up with a modality that would transform the state of education across the continent. He therefore sought for more cooperation and support from government at various levels, saying once government does the needful, the socioeconomic, religious, political and cultural matters are solved. According to him, " it is unfortunate that most of the schools now are not in the right positions, but we believe strongly that with sincere change in our attitude, things would get better. Earlier, the Catholic Bishop of Ibadan Diocese, Reverend Gabriel Leke Abegunrin, described the current government as the great supporter of the Catholic Church. He attributed the support and collaboration being received from the state government to what he regarded as strong commitment of Governor Aregbesola to religious' propagation. Rev. Abegunrin who commended the efforts of the present government in maintaining peace and unity amidst diverse religious faithful, said it is on record that Osun remains one of the states in Nigeria that have done justice to the existing religions. According to him, "I am happy that Osun government under the leadership of Governor Aregbesola has proven the required sincerity and justice to religions as expected from any leader whatsoever. "Obviously Osun government is a great supporter of our church. The government has already established a very unique, robust and healthy relationship not only to Catholic members or muslims, but by extension, the christian community and other religious faithful. Rev. Abegunrin who charged residents of the state on the need to promote love, unity and co-existence irrespective of religious differences, advocated religious tolerance as the major instrument to put an end to the current religious challenges. Rev. Abegunrin who condemned in its entirety the alleged religious crisis that trailed the judgment of the State High Court over the right to wear hijab by the female muslim pupils in the public schools, said if dialogue had been given its best place by the protesting set of the christian community, the matter wouldn't have escalated. The religious leader who described the court order as valid, said not until a court injunction is being proved otherwise by an higher court, such verdict remains valid. He noted that the only way out for whoever feels being dissatisfied with the court injunction was to approach a superior court and file an appeal towards the lower court judgment, saying the case of hijab would have put to rest if the aggrieved had taken a legal direction. Rev. Abegunrin pointed out that the court injunction which had created a lot of disaffection among the members of the populace due to over anticipation, would have been intellectually averted if proper steps had been taken. He called on the people to always address issues with passion especially issues that bother on religions, saying proper understanding of the constitutional procedure in seeking a redress, would in greater measure helps to avoid unnecessary societal fracas. The cleric described catholic community as a peace-loving religious body, saying as far as christianity is concerned, there is no room for violence. Rev. Abegunrin who declared as uncalled for, the wearing of ceremonial garments to schools by the christian pupils, adding that such act amounts to a complete religious aberration. In his remarks, the Governor of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola who commended the leadership of the Catholic Church, said no efforts would be spared to ensure peace and tranquility in the state. Governor Aregbesola said peaceful co-existence among the citizenry remains un-negotiable, emphasizing that his government would do all it could to continuously foster desired cordiality, love and peace among the religious faithful. The Governor reiterated his determination to continuously prioritizing justice and equity among the existing religion, noting that his government had never accorded preference to any religion. According to him, "We have no ill-feelings to any set of religion as we strongly believe that religion is an instrument of refinement and instrument of developing capacity for human beings. "Our government also believe that religion is an instrument of testing human beings to restrict provocation towards the development of every human being for higher spiritual attainment. "Therefore, when religions failed to do these, there is a need to challenge the adherents of such religion. Governor Aregbesola canvassed love as the only mechanism to entrench peaceful relationship between and among the people of diverse religious philosophy. He said, "As a matter of fact, all founders of religions today need love to centralize faith into their religions, thus, there is no other means at all as to love and compassion. "The cardinal focus of all religions is love. Though differences occur in the methodology of attaining goals. "I am always disturbed when we human beings discriminate, develop hatred and so on against their faiths because to me, I believe strongly that there is no iota of doubt in the sense that religion means love, compassion, unity and accommodation. Governor Aregbesola who supported his claims with three fundamental religious facts, said faith, hope and love must not be undermined in any of the existing religions. According to him, "There are three fundamental factors that enshrines religion, such as faith, hope and love and as big as they are, love is most superior because it brings comfortability, peace, unity, togetherness and tranquility. "Obviously, love is the end of all loss and as a matter of fact, no religion should skip this vital instrument in its orthodoxical doctrines, principles and standards. Governor Aregbesola therefore promised to continuously build healthy relationship among the religious adherents. "Catholic church has been particularly supportive to our administration and I want to encourage the church to continue with that. "We will work extremely with the leadership of your church, and other denominations to bring about a peaceful state where our people can go about their lawful economic activities, social and cultural engagements without molestation. "Our focus is to ensure that every citizen lives a good life with joy, happiness and prosperity", he added. Meanwhile, one of the members of Osun Development Association, Professor Olu Aina said the association had reached a common ground with the protesting members of the christian community to put an end to the lingering hijab tussle in the state. Prof. Aina who assured the people of the state on peaceful relationship vowed that the association would deplore necessary measures to ensure stable peace in all parts of the state. "We have met with the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN on the need to over look any form of religious differences among the adherents of the existing religions. "To this end, we hope that henceforth, nothing as such would replicate in the state", he stated.

Politics / Photo New: Is Pastor Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola Trying To Christianize Osun State? by editor123: 7:23am On Jun 29, 2016 |
Many have accused the governor of Osun State of trying to Islamize the state of Osun, but recent photos have shown otherwise. In the wake of recent hijab crisis in the state, many Christians accused of being against their religion, but photos have surfaced showing he many actually like Christians more than they know. In one of the photos, he Pastor Aregbesola was seen preaching the Victory Chapel Parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG and in many others, he was greeting Christian leaders with signs of respects or holding one meeting or consultations. The likes of Bishop David Oyedepo, Pastor EA Adeboye, Pastor Williams Kumuyi among many others have declared the Osun governor A GOVERNOR ANOINTED BY GOD... How will God not honour a man who honours His servants. I recall Pastor Aregbesola organising a state burial for Evangelist Obadare at the WOSEM headquarters in Ilesa...what more do we want as Christians? Now I wonder, can Aregbesola's accusers be more holier than this great men of God?

Even an idiot knows without a doubt that the accusation thrown here are lies. I will take my time to empirically refute all the lies who have conjured here. Your intention is to kill the legacy of a man and his family, for the crime of having the gut to take Osun out of the 13th century. Truth be told, Osun now stand tall in the comity of states despite the current challenges it is facing. The Over 300km of rural and urban roads constructed during the tenure of Ogbeni, the over 150 modern schools, and several other projects embarked upon by his administration will disagree with the lies who conjured just to discredit him |
Politics / Punch Newspapers And Its Irresponsible Editorial On Osun by editor123: 8:04am On Jun 24, 2016 |
The Punch Newspaper has over time acted like an irresponsible organisation with no regard for the truth or facts. On its stance on happenings in the state of Osun, the paper has gone out of its way to deliberately distort facts, turning logic on its head in order to vilify the state governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola. If the paper had researched very well before writing its latest editorial article, it would have found out that many of the things Gov. Aregbesola is being accused of is wrong and based on a faulty premise. 1. At no time did the governor recommend or approve the use of hijab nor the colour female students ought to use. In fact, it was as a result of his stand against it that the Muslim Students' Association sued him to court. 2. Ogbeni I gather, is totally against leading students in any religious direction. He said recently, "it is not the business of any government, through the schools, to lead a child in a particular religious direction. That will be for parents and religious institutions, in private capacity, until the child is grown enough to make a decision on religion." He said, “The government therefore cannot support or be seen to be supporting a particular religion. The government is a democracy, not a theocracy." 3. His reason for creating the Muslim New Year and the Isese Day for traditional religious worshipers in addition to the already known Christian holiday is to give everyone a sense of belonging. You can't blame a government for this. 4. I would expected this paper to have before now call on CAN to act responsibly like their Muslim counterparts who appealed the judgment in Lagos rather than resort ti self help. By the way, it the paper had researched well, you would have reported that OSUN CAN has actually appealed the judgment. Lastly, the paper most always thrive to present facts and not conjured bunkum in order to nail a governor who has done nothing wrong than advance the course of his people. May wisdom always prevail at your editorial board meetings. |
Politics / Photos: Massive Crowd/students Welcomes Aregbesola As He Commissions School by editor123: 7:52am On Jun 15, 2016 |
Speaking on the mega school which he opened in Ibokun, Aregbesola said his administration is not just building schools across the state because it wants to show off or has too much money and looking for grandiose projects to spend it on. He assured at the opening of the N164million project that none of the ongoing projects in the state will be abandoned. He chided the Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) in the state for ascribing the project of school buildings to funds from Federal Government describing it as misleading and mischievous. The Governor noted that the opposition in their character went about slandering his administration when it dawned on them that they have failed the people of Osun when they were in Government. He added that, assuming without conceding that the money is from federal Government, questions should be asked on what did the PDP do with such fund when they were in power. Aregbesola stressed that the commitment of his government on education stems from the belief that the purpose of education is for the development of the new man intellectually, socially and morally. He said that the new man government is building in students across the state is placed in the centre of society, who views his own development as part of and for the development of society. The Governor held that the middle school being commissioned, like the others in the state, has the maximum capacity for 1000 pupils, 28 classrooms, an ICT room equipped with 30 computers, 24 toilets for pupils and teachers, three head teachers/principals’ office, one staff room. He listed others as one facility manager’s office, a multi-purpose hall, food court, library, sick bay, security/reception gatehouse and recreation zone. According to him, "We are building a total of 170 state of the art schools with 100 of them at Elementary, 50 Middle Schools and 20 High Schools. Out of these, 14 Elementary Schools, 15 Middle Schools and 11 High Schools, including the one we are commissioning today, have been completed, to the glory of God. "Some are already commissioned while others are receiving finishing touches and waiting to be commissioned too. We are going to complete them before the expiration of our tenure. None of our projects will be abandoned. "The school being commissioned today cost the government a sum of N164 million. This includes the cost of the structure, furnishing and landscape development. In spite of the lean resources of the state, expending this sum on a school is a mark of our commitment to basic education". Aregbesola added that government has attached performance index to continuity and promotion for all public workers, stating that every teacher will now be assessed based on performance on teaching and grooming of their pupils and being a role model to them. He averred that It will be absurd to retain and keep promoting teachers whose pupils continue to fail both in learning and character, noting that those who do well will be rewarded. Earlier in her speech, the Deputy Governor, who also doubles as the Commissioner for Education, Mrs Grace Titi Laoye-Tomori, said the commissioning of the school was yet another glaring testimony of government's resolve to turn education around in the state. She stated that the mission statement of the Aregbesola administration is to provide a conducive atmosphere in all the three structural categories of elementary, middle and high schools across the state. She noted that the vision of the government in Osun is to make education sector the best in Nigeria. Adding that by the time all the schools were completed and put into use, the state will take its rightful position in the comity of states in the federation, she said "The mission state of our government on the education sector is to provide a conducive learning environment across the three structural categories of schools. "The vision of this government is to be the undisputable leading light in education in Nigeria,” she stated The Principal of the school, Pastor Titus Olawoyin, commended the governor for his achievement in education. Olawoyin said through the erection of his school's magnificent building, stakeholders in education in the state will forever remember Aregbesola's administration. He noted that teachers in the school will also be grateful to the Governor for the magnificent edifice he turned their school into. Governor Rauf Aregbesola while commissioning the ultra-modern St Michael’s RCM Government Middle School, Ibokun, also said all aggrieved parties in the recent court judgement over Hijab should channel their grievances according to the rule of law and not result to self help. He distanced his administration from the court judgement that allowed female Muslim students to wear Hijab to school, saying the Judiciary is an independent arm of government, the decisions of which are not subject to any influence by other arms of government. Aregbesola stated that there are other legal options opened to any party who feels strongly about the judgement, adding that appeal is the best option in this situation. He said, "It is funny for some people to insinuate that government has a hand in the judgement. The government is a democracy, not a theocracy. Any student found disobeying school rule and regulation risk expulsion from our schools.” The Governor said it is not the business of any government, through the schools, to lead a child in a particular religious direction. That will be for parents and religious institutions, in private capacity, until the child is grown enough to make a decision on religion. He said, “The government therefore cannot support or be seen to be supporting a particular religion. The government is a democracy, not a theocracy. I believe also that parents and society should complement the government in shaping the minds of the pupils to be receptive to knowledge and godly character formation; to be sensitive to the need of others, the plurality of our society and the imperative of mutual toleration. They should also be brought up to be team players, even when in a competitive environment. It amounts to subversion of the educational needs of a child for them to be drawn into and used for political purposes.” 1 Like

dFroshie: 1. You claimed Aregbesola Lied on loans to finance the projects? Have you been living in Mars? You never heard about the Sukuk bond? Lying is not one of the things you can accuse Aregbesola of doing. He has been forthright with the people of his state since he began his tenure. By the way, how did you expect him to finance ALL the projects without borrowing? Or you preferred him to have used the average of about N3bn monthly allocations to pay salaries throughout his tenure for eight years? That way, I know the 50,000 workers will be happy while the over 4million citizens will be left to suffer and be without infrastruture. 2. On Opon-imo projects, do you have any evidence Kabir collected funds from the state government and pocketed same? You just don't come to a public fora to accuse an innocent young man trying to help his dad and the state he governs. 3. Contrary to your position, Aregbesola did NOT waste allocations on irrelevant and unimportant projects. You see, information is key, see the truth and it will set you free. Comparing the Ido Osun Airport to the Ibadan airport shows you lack basic information of about the true situation of things. The Airport in Osun is not a passenger airport. It is an Aircraft maintenance hub and a cargo airport. ALL aircrafts in Nigeria you usually fly out to South Africa, Ethopia, Egypt or other countries outside Africa for their routine maintenance. The Ido Osun airport will be the first maintenance hub in West Africa. Imagine what that will do to the entire economy of Osun if all Aircraft in Nigeria and West Africa comes down to Osun to service their aircraft. DHL has their sorting centre for Nigeria in Yaounde, Cameroon, meanwhile, Nigeria is their largest market, but they had to move to a neighbouring country because there is no space for them in Nigeria. Osun will bring that back into Nigeria, the Nigerian Airforce will operate its hover crafts from the airport etc. The airport has the longest runway in Nigeria and the first landing strip in West Africa. The colonial masters used the strip to airlift soldiers during the first world war. The historical value alone is enough to open a musuem....So please, gets your facts right before speaking on things you don't know. Aregbesola foresaw this trying times, that is why he created the Omoluabi Conservation funds to save for the rainy day. 4 Likes |

Do your best to ignore the FAAC revenue. Osun is doing better than a lot of states. Monthly financial obligations are being met, several massive projects are ongoing thanks to the sagacity of the governor Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola. Compared to other states, do you know that Osun owes onlt one month in Salaries. As at April 25, it was owing One month. With the recent payment of March salaries, it now owes only April as of today. The facts speaks for themselves. Osun's total loan has been restructured by the FG, hence the reason you seen billions accruing to the state. States like Ekiti, Ebonyi, Osun, Imo and several others who didn't restructure there loans still receiving billions in FAAC allocations, but t hey get deducted by the various banks. Aregbesola is wise by managing the state in such a responsible manner, yet some people want him to inaugurate the state executive council that will be draining the state millions of naira in salaries, bonus and entitlements every months.

hotspec: Think! The government is working on resuscitating the collapsed education infrastructure in Osun with is minimal resources. So you expect govt to only build ALL the schools without doing any other thing? Ogbeni is building 38 modern senior schools, 50 middle schools and 28 elementary schools. That is fair enough considering there is civil servants salaries to pay, run government, build roads, feed 250,000 school children every school day etc. I give kudo to the state government for the work done so far. If former governors had built schools like this, maybe Ogbeni would have focused on some other projects, but none did. You should praise Aregbe for doing the right thing, not villify him for what others refused to do. |

The proper thing you should have done is present the side of government. What you presented is what Ogbeni met on ground when he got to Osun. He sat and decided to revamp the entire education system in the state. You can see images here https://www.nairaland.com/3093905/rejoinder-state-public-secondary-schools. Business / Workers Protest Shuts BUA Flour Mills Over Sale Of Company by editor123: 4:34pm On Dec 05, 2015 |
…Men of the Nigerian Navy now standing guard in company premises …Prohibits workers interaction and unionism By Kikiowo Ileowo Men of the Nigerian Navy were on Wednesday unleashed on protesting workers of BUA Flour Mills Limited, a subsidiary of BUA Group – a manufacturing, trading and commodities group of companies – owned by billionaire business mogul, Alhaji Abdulsamad Rabiu. The Paradigm correspondent learnt that BUA Group over six month ago, decided to sell BUA Flour and BUA Pasta to Olam Group, another trading and commodities company in Nigeria. A very reliable source in the company, accused the management of selling the company and abandoning the staff to fate. BUA Flour Mills Limited, a subsidiary of BUA Group was incorporated in March 2005 as a Private Limited Liability Company. The flour arm started around August 2005 in Lagos, while that of Kano started three years later in 2008. However, the Kano plant has stopped production; though few workers are still maintained for upkeep of the company. The reason for the sale of the company is still unknown, but representative of BUA Group have denied any such claim. Speaking to The Paradigm’s correspondent, Group Head, Corporate Communications, BUA Group, Mr. O’tega Ogra said “as at 27th November , BUA Flour and Pasta are still fully owned subsidiaries of the BUA Group; the management has not changed, neither has it been sold.” The recent crisis stem from disagreement between the staff, who wants their severance package and gratuity paid before the handover, but The Paradigm learnt that BUA Group intention, is to transfer all liabilities to the new owners, Olam Group, a scenario which the staff are uncomfortable with. The Paradigm notes that staffs are usually laid off when such hostile takeover take place by a new management. Using threats akin to the repression experienced during of the military era, management of BUA Group ordered the staff back to work last Wednesday or they will apply the ‘no work, no rule’, should the staff fail to return to their duty post. “Our chairman, Alhaji Abdulsamad is being unfair to us, he wants to use and dump us. I have served for over 6 years in this company and he just wants to abandon us, it is unfair,” one of the staff told The Paradigm. “We have been asked to sign a letter of undertaken, but none of us accepted. The terms were just unreasonable and unnecessarily harsh,” another staff told The Paradigm. A copy of the letter of undertaken sighted by The Paradigm reads inter alia that the staff will, “irrevocably and unconditionally undertake not to be seen loitering or discussing in groups of two or more persons.” A clear undertaken against the letter and spirit of the Nigerian law under which the company operates. The letter of undertaken further reads, “I understand the company may terminate my employment if I am found guilty of inciting, fueling or participating in any effort to disrupt production operations or any other business activities or transactions of the company.” Section 40 of the Nigerian Constitution guarantees Right to peaceful assembly and association. It states, “Every person shall be entitled to assembly freely and associate with other persons, and in particular he may form or belong to any political party, trade union or any association for the protection of his interests.” The International Labour Organization (ILO) likewise recognizes freedom of association as a fundamental principle in several major documents, the most important ones being the Freedom of Association and Protection of the Right to Organise Convention 1948 (No. 87). Nigeria is a member of the Governing Body of the ILO and has ratified ILO Conventions 87 and 98. When asked on the restriction of workers right to freedom of association within the company, Mr. Otega Ogra stated that it is an internal communications and who rather prefer to know the source of the document with The Paradigm. “The undertaken you said you have is an internal document, how did you get it? Send it to me by email, so I can give you my reaction to it,” Mr. Ogra told this correspondent. The Paradigm learnt that although, Chairman of BUA Group, Alhaji Abdulsamad Rabiu will make millions of dollars from this deal, many wonder why he his refusing to consider the payment severance package and gratuity to members of his staff, who have laboured to grow the company to its present stage. Though our source had informed us that the new management from Olam Group will likely take over the company on Monday or Tuesday, The Paradigm cannot verify this claim as Olam group refused to reply The Paradigm’s query on the progress and completion of the acquisition of BUA Flour Mills Limited. The Paradigm had over the weekend sent an email to Olam Group for details of the transaction, control and management takeover of BUA Flour Mills Limited, but as at the time of publication, the company is yet to reply our messages. A combined team of armed Naval and Police personnel continue to stand guard at the gate of the company, though the protests have so far been peaceful. The Paradigm will bring you updates on how the company resolves the current impasse. http://www.theparadigmng.com/2015/11/29/workers-protest-shuts-bua-flour-mills-over-alleged-sale-of-company/

Recall that over the past few years, Senator Saraki as a Senator was able to get direct unfiltered feedback from his constituents and Nigerians at large on issues that directly affect their lives. I remember vividly a few instances such as the Save Bagega Campaign, which was the issue of lead poisoning in Zamfara and also #SaveAlice in Lagos who was attacked by her foreign employers, just to name a few occasions where people on social media have been able to get in touch directly with him as a Senator to get him to champion issu http://www.theparadigmng.com/2015/11/13/facebook-to-train-nigerian-senators-on-how-to-use-the-platform/ |
