Unlike the Europeans who colonized most African countries,the ones in SA used the natural resources to build cities like Johannesburg instead of taking the resources out of the country.Johannesburg is found in the province of Gauteng (from the word Gauta,which means gold in Sotho languages) hence it's called the city of gold.The city was built with the proceeds of gold tradings.The Europeans stretched our railways to neighboring countries such as Malawi,Angola,Zimbabwe,Lesotho,etc so that the people in these countries could travel by train to come and work in the gold mines.

Great! Mean while there is no rail transport from Ethiopia to Kenya. So sad

The car entered in Ethiopia in 1990 E.C which means 1998 in G.C. Same goes to post office too in 1998, Ethiopia became a member.

Am not sure if the post office in Ethiopia was the first in Africa but I do know the Emperoe was the first black person to be on car

We will be celebrating 'Battle of Adwa' after few days. This is how we celebrate year after year.



We have something called 'Guzo Adwa'. Which means trip Adwa. Volunteer youths gather and walk from Addis Ababa to the place where the battle was made. Imagine, addis is on the center of Ethiopia and Adwa is near Eritrea. That is a long way to go.

Some times i feel like foriegn colonizer was ruling us. Our government only like to be praised. You can't even praise Haile Selassie. Haile Selassie formed Africa union but he had no statue made in there until our new PM came.kuamini Nikruma had a statue but not haileselassie. . . If our PM didn't show up, what do we know. The govt may even throw menelik statue.

Although I don't think you guys still use that. I think only the Ethiopian script (Ge'ez) is the only one still used currently. Maybe the four could have been practiced currently if there was no colonization

Yemen was historically part of "Ethiopia" for some long recorded periods of time so it really doesn't mean Sheba wasn't Ethiopian in its historical sense...
