Sorry but I think most Amharas thought they were buddies with Oromos & Somalis because they didn't like the tigrays. I think Oromos and Somalis have huge axe to grind against Amharas and Tigrays. That temporary alliance ended with Oromo PM Abiy.

Amharas are in big trouble because the trigrays are mostly settled in their northern deserts - but you Amharas are in nearly every fertile highlands deep in Oromo land. You're like Kikuyus of Kenya - settled all over - and nearly everyone has a grievance against you.

Big trouble. You need to have a national conference where Ethiopians forgive each other like South Africans did. We tried to copy the South Africans and had a Truth & Reconciliation thing..but nobody cried, nobody asked for forgiveness and there has been no reconciliation.


The so called Truth & Justice reconciliation report is gathering dust because nobody really want to replay the past and there are no easy solutions. For me it's enough if people are given an ear to tell their sob stories, shed some tears and some of victims & aggressor forgive each other. I can imagine there are Oromos who feel Amharas grabbed their fertile land.

I don't know what they want us to be. TPLF is throwing Amharas from their own region and Oromos are throwing Amharas from Oromia region. It was easy if they just collect us and throw us to another planet.

How many years do we have to hear these insane people? It is like Amhara is their common enemy because Amharas want Ethiopia to be one, and if that happens. . .none of them would have a chance to get on power. I just hope Oromo liberation front and TPLF destroy eachother. They are blood and power thirsty beings


About the conference, we have tried that a million times. They keep betraying. TPLF hugs you on tv then insult you in their city. OLF hugs you on tv then do same thing again. Abiy asked OLF to stop the fight on tv but they refused several times. OLF has been literally killing and slaughtering people.

People could still tell your tribe by your name here too. They can easily tell me my tribe but putting it on your ID makes you feel different from other Ethiopians and it says that your tribe matters than your nationality.

I wanted to reply to what you have said before, which is related to Ethiopia being divided is good option. . .which is not. The people are being blind here enji they could work it out together. Amhara people are always ready to make unity with other Ethiopians. Southern Ethiopians and Amhara don't clash. Just the others which are driving us crazy. Sometimes I think it is a disease.They don't have any point. Still Amharas are dying and getting misplaced, you will never hear them wanting to separate and this is one thing every Ethiopian knows. May God help others to be like the Southern Ethiopians too.

Ethiopia is not a bad country at all especially when you compare it two other african countries. I actually used that for a Somali Ethiopian. Kenyans don't understand it. Only Ethiopians use it as an official language even if some Eritreans and Djbouti people can speak the language.

We use the language (for education) until grade 4 and the government uses this language. If you even come to Addis, place names are written in Amharic then in English. Most of the rules and regulations are written in Amharic. Our constitution is both written in English and Amharic.

For example, this is Amharic sentence.

ይሄ አማርኛ ነው።

Dire has a very good mix of people which I believe is important for any big city.

It was a bit tense when I first arrived there earlier this month. However things have calmed down and I believe the government is serious about clamping down on violent protests.

It would be a lot easier if they worked with the government when they feel bereaved rather than protest and cause death.

Correct, that is why Addis Ababa and Dire became peaceful cities. When different people come together, their only choice is to tolerate eachother in order to survive. If all of our cities like that, we wouldn't have heard people being misplaced the whole time.

The people aren't being helpful, you see some of them acting patriotic by carrying the Ethiopian flag and singing patriotic song but what they do out of that is totally different from what a real patriot does. People are being paid to cause violence and everyone must be aware of it. If you hate your enemy, the best thing you can do to attack is stop the things your enemy is planning for but the people are making it easy for what is being planned for.

I heard there was a problem in Dire and I got really shocked because Dire is a very peaceful city. I have friends and neighbors from there and they are the coolest and friendly Ethiopians.

If you were there a week ago, that means thing have settled. Thank God.

I had chances to go to Dire but I couldn't make it because of time. I sure will one day!

As an ethnic Somali, I can tell you that Somalis are almost never united. Each clan is almost like autonomous kingdom.

However, the one thing that has always united Somalis for over 1000 years is when we’re invaded by non-Somalis.

I’m a Somali from Dire Dawa, Ethiopia and I have no desire to join Somalia, but if it was attacked I wouldn’t hesitate for even a second in joining my brethren in the frontlines.
