XhosaNostra: Churches put me off. They like money too much. I do pray sometimes though, just to stay connected with my creator.
You guys seem to like going to church. A lot. You even attend during the week! Maybe I'll check it out...for the experience. Never been to an Ethiopian church before. What money? Why spend money? Our life is very attached with our religion. We go to church and drink holy water. Sunday church is a must. We attend classes in church with our priests. We eat blessed foods provided by individuals. We bake bread and cook food every year to feed the needy in church. We do that turn by turn so every Sunday, there are people who feed the needy. If we were very sick and if we heal, we will celebrate that day every year by calling peiests home making them bless our food. We go to church and provide that food to the needy in church. We chip in money to build BIG churches. We celebrate holidays thanking God at church. We fast every Wednesday and Friday for the rest of our lives. We sometimes visit church in midnight, sometimes we even spend the whole night there. We kneel and kiss ground like Muslims while praying sometimes. Now that Easter is coming, we fast for 2 months with out eating for like half day. Our priest don't make a lot of money. We have people who we call 'kahn', who dedicate their life to God even praying in midnight. You can hear their voice from home. I sometimes sleep after praying together with them. (me being at home). Our churches and mosques are really loud. Some kahns only eat few things and drink water. That is all. They own nothing and they gave up their life. and so on. . . |

Jonraid: Well, this one is from an Ethiopian restaurant in Kenya so it must taste good.We don't have a Kenyan injera but the Somali Kenyans do cook injera. I'm yet to taste it though! It's not about having Ethiopian restaurant or not. The teff in Ethiopia is way better. However you try, you can't bake it as good as ours because of the teff. Every diasporas complain about it. Somali Kenyans bake too?? Wow, Injera must be famous in Kenya. |

XhosaNostra: I'm a "Christian" I don't go to church though. What are you, Christian or Muslim? Bad girl . If you are Orthodox Christian, better go to one of our churches and check. If not. . .go to one of the churches Just go to church. And not only on Sundays. |

Jonraid: The price is not far off from a standard coffee mug and egg bread toast that you will get at Java restaurant in Kenya. As for the injera, they are much cheaper, one goes for about a dollar-that's about 28 birr! How are the prices in Ethiopia! They must be more cheaper! Injera is 5birr here actually. It use to be 3. . .lol |

XhosaNostra: On which holidays do you make this? I've only attended birthdays & parties, not religious holidays or anything like that. That may be the reason. IDK. Probably that is why. We do it for our religious holidays. What religion do you follow? Christian or Muslim? |

XhosaNostra: Wow OK. Interesting. I've been to a few Ethiopian birthdays & parties, but I have never seen this. Maybe the time it takes to prepare it is why the ones I know have never cooked it. 4 hours is a long time, they all work lol.
I'll ask my neighbours if they can make it. I want a taste of this. It really looks good. The coffee tends to be too strong for my tastebuds It almost tastes like espresso, another least favourite. Yeah, Ethiopian coffee is strong. I am still surprised your Ethiopian neighbors haven't made this. We don't make this for birthdays tho. . .but at least they must cook this for holidays. Are you sure they are Ethiopians? Until you taste it, keep watching this. . . .

Foreign Affairs › Re: Kenya Is Ahead of Nigeria In All Aspect (Facts Don't Lie) by ednited(f): 1:29pm On Feb 13, 2019 |
NairobiWalker: But what is provision traditionally? Simply providing a roof over your head and food - any man can do that. You don't need a successful man to provide. The ordinary man on the street can provide a shelter and food. I think modern women are just using tradition to hide their greed and materialism. I always tell young women, now that you want that rich man and think a man is pointless without lots of money, ask yourself, what are you offering so that he should date the broke you when he is rich himself? These days ladies are going crazy I swear. I am sorry that I don't support them. Here in our city, you see them dressing gorgeous and everything so a man could pick them. That is all they do now. They become educated and wait for a man to shape their life. They get married, few divorce then take half of the money with them. Why can't a women become independent and lead her life. Traditionally, still people in here keep waiting for men who is better economically. Even if the lady was millionare, she or her family looks for billionare. The other day you hear stories where the husband attacks and misthreat wife because she is broke and has no place to go it. I just pray to God to help me make a good life by myself. |

Jonraid: I'm just curious! 4 hours? Really? Yes, when it is made in family size. Actually I just said 4hrs having all the onions cut and everything. 4hrs without considering onion preparation. We use 5 kilos of onion to make dorowot home. Imagine. . . . It take us 4 - 6hrs to cook this food at home. It requires patience and experience |

XhosaNostra: No, never seen it. It looks delicious though.
What is it? Is it chicken & eggs? Yes, chicken and eggs. The egg is also very delicious! We don't cook this all the time. We only cook it for big celebrations or holidays. It is cooked with family size (big amount). It requires atleast 4 hrs to finish cooking. You have to try it In our culture, an Ethiopian lady must know how to bake Injera, make a good coffee and cook dorowot before she gets married |

XhosaNostra: Tins are more of a Sotho-speaking people's dishes. I have never eaten one. I'm not a fan of sour things. I can't even eat chips with vinegar. When I eat Ethiopian food, I eat only the meats if the dishes are accompanied by injera. What is doro wott? Please show me a picture. Perhaps I'll recognize it when I see it. Anyone who knows Ethiopian dishes knows this. You can't eat this with out Injera and when you told me you have tried Ethiopian dishes. . .I couldn't image how you tried this. XhosaNostra: Injera is not nice though lol. I like every other Ethiopian dish, except for that.
What is it even made of? What makes it so sour? Injera has a weird taste. I don't blame you for not liking it. But if you don't like Injera. . .how do you try to eat dishes like tins? Injera is the one which helps you eat other dishes. It is made with teff, it is the smallest grain in the planet. I think it is the teff which makes it sour. . . There's a lot of process to pass to bake Injera. Have you ever tried doro wott? |

Kazikazi: Peace and harmony wont be established in just a day,it usually takes long. The thing which I admires most is your leadership willingness towards achieving that.At least they humbled trying to make it work. Commendable. It actually happened. Our PM said that he want peace with Eritrea. Woke up in the morning and then saw him on TV in Asmara. Signed many things. Brought Issayas with him and made big celebrations. Border was opened. People started moving here and there. They started attending different ceremonies together. . . . Eritrea Ethiopia relation still feels like a dream. Every day we hear aggrements and peace and harmony was fast. Now it is getting a little serious |
