My intended field plays a key role in the petroleum industry especially gas. My experience has given me a broad understanding. I was fully prepared by God's grace.

By God's grace, my interview was okay. The panelist head, Dr. gave me his complimentary card.

They asked me to tell them what I want to study, the school and why the school.

My focus is the petroleum industry especially gas which is a transition fuel to net-zero carbon emissions. And Nigrira has more than 200 trillion cubic feet of proven gas reserves which worth over 800 trillion dollar. With gas, we will address energy poverty that more than 43% of Nigerians lack access to grid electricity as reported by World Bank.

When it comes to oil and gas, the university I chose is number one in the UK with over 40 years of academic excellence and industry experience in the oil and gas industry. The reason I chose the University to pursue my career. One of the panelists based in the UK and he told the other one, he knows what he is saying.

The man was impressed and he had a PhD in Gas Engineering. He said he is happy when he sees someone who wants to focus in gas. They asked hope what I said is on my CV. I said, yes. They now said I should read it out. I read it out and it was there. The man asked me, were you here last year? And, I said,yes! That is why you have an outstanding SOP and they asked you to improve on your SOP right? I said, yes!

He then asked me one question. Which of the FG policy I know that is in-line with what I want to study and I would like to work on when I return? I told him climate change policy and gas as a transition fuel will address the issue of climate change. He was impressed and gave me his card. And the other man asked, does he know it. He said yes. Just simple with me. My first impression made thing easy with me. I networked sharp sharp.

The grade my SOP full mark. Certifications full mark and recommendation. The Dr is my new found mentor.

To cut the long story short, God is wonderful.

I have to share my interview experience, it was bad, I mean very bad but wasn't my fault anyway.

So I went in to meet a 2-man panel. They were of course other panels having 3 persons but when it was my turn, it was the panel with 2 persons that were empty and had requested for an applicant. I was feeling lucky believing I had 2 persons to deal with without knowing it was a bad omen for me.

So they checked all my documents, everything was fine, I had everything with me, but not the panelist. So when it was time for me to present, all hell broke loose. I couldn't believe they were people in this generation and a professor in that matter that haven't heard of nuclear. The very moment I mentioned Nuclear (it doesn't matter how I want to apply the nuclear), he stopped me and said "Nuclear in this Nigeria??" The professor was a very old man with little or no knowledge of the current research. I mentioned the use of Monte Carlo Neutron Transport Codes, but he head of only Monte Carlo and chuckled, saying it was what they used 40-50 years ago Haba, Prof. Calm down and listen nah, but he wasn't having any of it.

I mentioned nuclear waste management, and cleaning of oil spillage, he interrupted me and questioned how can I be mentioning nuclear waste in energy management. He even questioned if nuclear has waste? Jesus, I couldn't believe what happened yesterday. It was very funny anyway.

So that was how it went yesterday. It was bad with Prof. But then you don't blame him, Prof. didn't believe Ajaokuta steel can work, he said I should forget about what the government was saying that its a scam and just a consultancy project. He was very proud, but I reminded him that the reason why Geregu powerplant was sited very close to Ajaokuta was to supply electricity to the plant. I told him everything he needs to be convinced but then, his mind was made up and I can't change that. Prof. didn't know that Nigeria currently produce 4000MWe of electricity, when I told him that he said it was not true, I told him to check the internet.

He said the only thing that the government should do is to produce energy from Gas, and that Gas is a clean source of energy. We went to Germany where he mentioned that they shut down all their reactors and I told him that they were importing 34% of their electricity demand from France, he said it wasn't true, I told him it was and that the internet is there for him to check. And now asked him what he thinks Germany will do now with the Ukraine Was and stoppage of the gas flow, he got the point anyway.

Well, it was bad with Prof. but the second guy was amazed though openly didn't want to disagree with Prof. manner, so when Prof. went to fetch his tea, we had a good discussion and he even told me to wait and greet Prof. before I leave.

In summary, it wasn't smooth but then, there is nothing to worry about. If I get it fine, if I didn't get it, next year, I will meet prof. again.

Sabinus. PTDF scholarship is oil and gas not Nuclear. He is good is discarded you for not obeying simple instructions.

Please I’ll like to make a confirmation. PTDF has 125 approved schools for Germany. Will an admission from one of these schools be accepted even though that’s not one of your selected school in the ptdf portal?

Where do you got 125 PTDF approved Schools in Germany from? Na wa ooo. PTDF approved schools are not up to 125 schools in Germany. Pls your source.

My interview went well by God's grace. My SOP was gladly accepted since my main focus is gas as a transition fuel to net-zero carbon emissions and address energy poverty. Asked me if this is included on my SOP, I said yes. Asked me to read it out, I did. Why they accepted my SOP with great joy.

I also mentioned my chosen university is leading in oil and gas. This is a fact.

And many other things.

Got unconditional offer already.

The one I collected from my School from the Registrar.

If you have WAEC, some schools do accept it.

This time around, I must carry my admission offer letters to the interview, defend myself very well and pray to God. Join some professional bodies before the interview day.

From the culture of this scholarship. Normally June is the month they do induction to the finalist. Stop creating illusionary thought and find your alternative. I too didn't receive any email. So divert your energy to plan B. If they send email find and good, if they don't no heart break.

Understand before you comment. Every successful applicants received a mail for interview. We are talking about the exact day and time each applicant will do interview,the email hasn't been sent yet as said by PTDF. So, you are confusing yourself.

How do you know this? The email they sent to the shortlisted candidates indicated that they will send out interview invites in batches for dates between 23rd May and 10th June.

Not interview invites. A mail stating the exact date and time for each one. Everyone can't do interview same day. Between 23rd May and 10th June are the days the interview will take place.

What has been delaying OSS? PTDF interview for OSS hasn't gone beyond April even in 2020. No pandemic and no crisis. March came and gone and April came and gone. Now, we are in May.

Working as a Utility/HVAC Engineer.

Planning to get my Membership with the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE). Adding Data Analysis to it by doing online courses and read soft copy materials.

This will provide great opportunities for me with international organisations like Saudi Aramco, UN, WTO, World Bank etc.


Never regretted studying Mechanical Engineering. Last year alone, I got 4 jobs. This year, two HRs approached me on LinkedIn for jobs offer.
