You are very stupid. You used religion to choose your VP candidate by undermining the Christians. Now, you are telling us that religion doesn't matter but competence. So, no competent Christian in the North right? This is not CAN alone but all Christians in Nigeria. Leave the Christians out of this. Let us use religion to vote for our candidate. You don't need the votes of the Christians. We are irrelevant. Why bringing Jesus into this? Making poor decision is very bad. It hurts in the long run. I stand firmly with my Pastor, Dr. Paul Enenche. This is not just CAN alone. SDG 10 of the United Nations is all about reduction of inequalities in the society. Diversity fosters peace and unity. It is inclusiveness; making others have a sense of belonging. |

Recently, an undergraduate student approached and asked me, "What would be my advice to him that graduates face after graduation?" I discovered that many graduates lack mentorship over the years I have been in the industry and many don't know how to build good relationships. Good relationships will take you far more than competence. Yes, having the right skills is very good but along the line, also build good relationships. Build good relationships where people can speak for you on your behalf. Whenever they mention your name, they will say, Oh, I am familiar with this name. One day, a lady who I call my Big Sister, not blood related but from same tribe, sent my curriculum vitae, CV to someone. The person told her instantly, I am familiar with this name. Oh! He is my mentee. My Big Sister was surprised. She said to me, 'I am pleased with the level of your network and keep it up.' This person is in France now, working with one of the leading offshore companies in the world. Information matters a lot. It will take you far. Networking with the right people matters a lot. Don't lose good relationships because of Nigerian politics and politicians. Refuse to be hidden. The following are very necessary in life. Don't miss out in life due to lackadaisical attitude. Your enthusiasm and determination should be very high in anything you are doing. Don't make that mistakes some persons made in the past. 1. Lack the ability to build and sustain relationships. Try to build and sustain relationships. As you are building skills, accumulating capabilities and competence, build and sustain relationships along it. Don't be quick to delete people's phone numbers even though someone rejected or refused to do something for you, just move on and never keep any grudge. Once in awhile, just say hi. 2. Lack of Mentorship. Reach out to people. It is he who is looking for something should stretch out his hands first. There are always rejections. 3. Lack of Visibility. Visibility matters a lot in life. Are you known or seen among your zone or groups. Let people know you for something good. Let people know you for values. You can be sharing information in any group. Don't worry others are benefiting. Someone is taking cognizance. For instance, when you go to Md Abdullah's LinkedIn page, he is known for sharing scholarships and other academic information. 4. Lack of information: To get information, use google, LinkedIn, Twitter, Nairaland, WhatsApp Groups and your network, the people you are connected with. 5. Ingratitude. Always acknowledge God first and appreciate those in your life. It is not until you needed something, you will now decide to reach out to someone. Life doesn't work that way. Some graduates will fail to appreciate someone. Always appreciate people all the time in life. One day, I did something for someone, a guy. After some weeks, I had even forgotten, the guy, came to say thanks. I was surprised and touched. Here is a message someone sent to me, he wrote; "The strength of any man is not in his physical might but in the quality of those he has around him. I just want to use this medium to appreciate your impact in me. Words can't express how lucky and privilege I consider myself for having association with someone like you. I will forever be indebted to you. Thanks and do have a fruitful week ahead!" This message moved me. I read it many times. This will make me to do more next time. This is just my personal experience. I said this to affirm that appreciating people matters a lot. 6. Respect, love, loyalty and sincerity are what you owe anyone. They will make you to standout. Kindly share your opinion in the comment section. |

Kuwait, UAE/Dubai, and Saudi Arabia are using the crisis in Ukraine to cash out. Oil is booming and we are still suffering in Nigeria. Oil is not booming, we will still suffer. Four key areas need urgent attention and I think that the next President of Federal Republic of Nigeria should focus on; >Security >Electricity >Agriculture >Education & Health Security: No where is safe anymore; church, mosque, farm, schools and gatherings. Therefore, this should be a top priority for any presidential candidate. Tell Nigerians the security mechanism you would like to put in place that would be better than what we have currently. What should be done differently. With our current population of more than 200 million people and a projection of 400m people by 2050, no presidential candidate should have nothing less than 80,000MW of electricity Generation as a target with a subsequent increment plan. Nigeria has 209.5 trillion cubic feet of proven natural gas reserves as reported, hydro and sunlight to meet industrial demand. No electricity, economy collapses. Businesses can’t function effectively. Relying on generators is not sustainable in a country with over 200m people. Agriculture: Food, food and food for sustainable healthy life among Nigerians is very important. Food provides chemical energy/nutrient which enable one to grow and live healthy. Without food, people can’t work or carry out daily activities. Currently, food in Nigeria is not sufficient. People are hungry. Farmers need to be safe in their farm. And security should be a top priority. Mechanized farming is key. There is arable land for agriculture. This should be harnessed effectively. Kaduna State alone can feed the whole country (Nigeria). Nigeria has 691234 sq. Km agricultural land in 2018, according to the World Bank Data. https://newsdeskpaper.com/what-next-nigeria-president-should-focus-on-michael-yahaya/ |

Nigeria and its Counterparts Comparison: Expedient Developmental Improvement. Electricity is the life blood of a healthy nation. No nation can do without electricity. Businesses and other economic activities survive on electricity. South Africa, Nigeria, Egypt and Ghana are countries in Africa as a continent. I compared these countries with Nigeria, and why we should do more to improve on where we are with what we have which is abundant gas. South Africa's electricity generation capacity is 58,095 megawatts (MW) with a population of 59.31 million people (World Bank 2020) Nigeria's electricity generation capacity is 12,522MW if existing plants are functioning well but only dispatch 4,000MW with a population of 206.1 million people (World Bank 2020) Egypt's electricity generation capacity is 59,063MW with a population of 102.3 million people (World Bank 2020). Ghana's electricity generation capacity is 5,134MW with a population of 31.07 million people (World Bank 2020). With over 200trillion cubic feet of proven gas reserves, Nigeria should be able to generate electricity that corresponds with her population. Without electricity, no economic activities. Promoting gas or diesel generators here thinking you are an expert to save cost in running a business, it wouldn't have been if there is constant electricity in Nigeria with over 80,000MW generation with reliable and efficient transmission systems. It is so unfortunate that conditionality has made us to pursue what shouldn't have been. Ideally, gas or diesel generators should be on standby for an emergency in case there is grid power interruption. If you can afford generators, what about over 90 million Nigerians without access to grid electricity as reported? Electricity for all remains the best option through generating plants and renewable sources of energy not diesel and gas generators. For sustainability and improvement of all sectors in Nigeria, an expedient action needs to be taken in the energy sector. This will help the manufacturing industry and ensure that over 90 million Nigerians have access to grid electricity. A society must take care of the least through sustainable development. Quality education is key to sustainable development. Without education, forget the prosperity of any nation. My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge said the Holy Scripture. A healthy people is a healthy nation. The health sector needs a revamp. 7 World class hospitals should be built in the 6 Geopolitical Zones and FCT. While State Governors should build 3 world class hospitals in each senatorial zone at the state level. This can be achieved in less than 6 months in office. Subsequent plan for advancement should be implemented. Healthcare service should be made affordable to the least person in the society. A good society should be able to cater for the least. I write to appeal to the next President to look into the above. Nigerians have suffered a lot. Good economy and governance are not expensive. People prosper more in a good economy. 2023 Electioneering campaign shouldn't be insults or abuses but how to make Nigeria great. Stop insulting others. Written by: Michael Yahaya. Nigeria to change into a prosperous nation and one of the best in the world, the Church has a significant role to play led by Daddy G. O., Pastors or Men of God. Men of God or Pastors, please unit to change Nigeria. Joseph led Egypt into a prosperous nation. Politics determines your well-being as a Christian. In the last 5 years, many Christians drifted into poverty line. This is not witches and wizards issue but bad economy caused it. Before you sing, this world is not my own and I am just a stranger here, insecurity will send you to that home untimely. And the Bible speaks against untimely death (Psalm 118:17 ). Go and get your PVC (Voter Cards) Christians. |
