For those unaware, let me clearly state the issue in Nimo.

Nimo is a town located in Njikoka Local Government Area, Anambra State. It has always been peaceful and relatively calm, never in the limelight—until the emergence of our so-called digital Owelle, Olimax, and the then PG, Ekene Omabu.

Their greed led them to declare individually owned lands, known as Owa, as communal land. They then began parceling and selling these lands among themselves, living large off the proceeds. The so-called Owelle was in charge of all the contracts and was building several estates. This was someone who was nearly bankrupt before he was illegally made Owelle through the back door, after PG Igboka was assassinated in broad daylight in Nimo.

It was essentially the so-called Nimo elites, some of whom reside in the USA, who decided to shortchange the poor by selling their properties. Imagine having to buy back land that you and your family have cultivated for generations just because some greedy individuals suddenly declared it communal land. This is how the problem started.

A WhatsApp group was created, allowing many people to voice their condemnation of Owelle and the then PG. When the PG’s tenure ended and it was time to elect a new one, Owelle and his cabinet members insisted that only those up to date with the town union dues could vote—contrary to the town union's constitution. In the past, because there were no major issues, they had used this same method to rig elections in favor of their preferred candidates. However, due to the land crisis they created, people refused to comply and insisted that the constitution be followed.

The commissioner mentioned here is an in-law to Nimo, and he closely followed the entire situation. Government lawyers interpreted the constitution and confirmed that every Nimo indigene above 18 years old was eligible to vote, in accordance with the Nigerian constitution. The commissioner personally supervised the election, which was conducted using the Option A4 open ballot system—making rigging impossible.

The people's candidate emerged victorious, but some individuals took the matter to court. As we all know, the Nigerian judicial system has its flaws. The court annulled the election and ordered the Board of Trustees (BOT) to take over, but the current leadership appealed and continued in office.

Now, certain individuals are lobbying the commissioner to withdraw the certificate issued to the PG, but he has refused—hence the news circulating on Nairaland.

Owa land is not for sale. Those who collected money from buyers should refund it immediately.

Am not surprised.... once I went to Abuja for business and a friend of mine was telling me about the way most of these Abuja girls(especially Igbo chic's) do their runs.
