Actions Capable of Endangering the 2023 General Elections in Ebonyi State Being a communique by Coalition of Ebonyi State Frontline Governorship candidates (LP, PDP, AA, APGA) from its meeting on October 23, 2022. Ebonyi State is a relatively young state, having been created alongside five others on October 1, 1996. As such, we just celebrated the 26th anniversary of the state’s creation three weeks ago. Within those 26 years, the state has made appreciable strides in the areas of human capital and physical development. In the space of those 26 years, the state has passed through a military administrator and subsequently, three democratically-elected governors. On March 11, 2023, Ebonyi State will join other 27 states to elect a new governor and continue the march towards socio-economic development. However, it is regrettable that barely one week after our people celebrated the 26th anniversary of the creation of the state, strange and unimaginable things began to happen. The first sign of the descent to fascism was when some civil servants were publicly flogged by security forces on the directives of the state chief executive. The flogging of civil servants, greater inhuman acts were meted to innocent citizens who were engaged in a walk for peace for Mr. Peter Obi and the Labour Party (LP). Without provocation or disorderly conduct, these harmless and unarmed citizens were pelted with teargas and clubbed in reckless abandon, maiming and wounding many. That inexplicable attack on the Obidients, as supporters of Labour Party and Peter Obi are called, showed that the state government has adopted tyranny and disdain for political freedom as its strategic for repression. As if those shows of shame were not enough, our people woke up two Sundays ago to the strange news of the abduction of a former two-term member of the House of Representatives, Hon Linus Abaa Okorie, in Abakaliki, the state capital. While Ebonyians were roused by concerns for the whereabouts and safety of the former federal lawmaker, it was revealed that Hon. Linus Okorie was disappeared by operatives of the Ebubeagu militia, which operates with impunity at the orders of the state governor. Nigerians, particularly Ebonyians at home and abroad, were surprised by the chilling stories of barbarism from the state, which suggested a descent to established sponsored terrorism. And, to make matters worse, based on the national outrage sparked by the abduction and torture of Hon. Linus Okorie, the Ebonyi State government, working in cahoots with some overzealous security personnel in the state, hurriedly levied charges on Okorie. The speed with which the police and the magistrate court accomplished the arraignment and incarceration of Okorie left nobody in doubt that a clear case of political witch-hunt and a brazen attempt to levy fear on members of the opposition political parties was on display. The development generated alarm, curiosity and much concern given that Hon. Linus Okorie is the Senatorial candidate of Labour party for the February 25 National Assembly election. By virtue of his candidacy, the LP is a major contender for the Ebonyi South Senatorial seat as Governor David Umahi. Nigerians remember that a similar strong arm tactics were deployed by the governor to displace Mrs. Anne Agom-Eze from the Senatorial contest within their party, the All Progressives Congress (APC). But, all pretences that a well coordinated plan to frighten away political rivals and create a state of helplessness for Ebonyi State voters was being executed disappeared, when the governorship candidate of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Prof. Benard Odoh, and his supporters were attacked by same gun-wielding Ebubeagu guerrillas. Prof. Odoh, has made necessary reports to the appropriate authorities about the attempt on his life and destruction of campaign vehicles. As if that was not enough, a key supporter of the PDP governorship candidate, Chief Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii, Mr. Uzoma Ani, was also disappeared since Thursday October 20, 2022. The young Ani was reported missing after arriving Abakaliki on his way from Akanu Ibiam International Airport enroute his country home, Umuezeukwu Onicha Igboeze of Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State. Like other such gestapo abductions, it is being speculated that Uzoma Ani may have been abducted by the Ebubeagu militia and undergoing torture at its secret torture chamber at the Old Ebonyi State Government House, Abakaliki. Based on the foregoing, it has become apparent that Governor David Umahi has perfected plans to unleash violence on opposition political parties to ensure that they do not freely campaign for votes in readiness for next year’s general elections. Nigerians are well aware of the violence tendencies of the outgoing Ebonyi State governor, which time will not permit us to chronicle, particularly his aversion to free contest and democratic ideals. It is necessary to note that Umahi’s frustration and malevolence heightened after his misadventure of defecting to the unpopular APC without the full complement of PDP stakeholders as he envisaged. As such, having been left alone as a General without troops, Umahi now thinks that the only way to assert dominance in the Ebonyi polity is through violence and mayhem. We want to use this opportunity therefore to alert Nigerians about the mischievous and desperate antics of Governor Umahi, which is capable of thwarting the 2023 general elections. Consequently, arising from the above, we the governorship candidates of the four engaged parties, otherwise known as Coalition of Ebonyi State Frontline Governorship candidates, namely, Labour Party (LP), Dr (Sir) Edward Nkwegu; Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Ifeanyi Odii; Action Alliance, (AA) Engineer Chukwuma Nwandugo; and All Progressives Grand Alliance, (APGA), Prof. Benard Odoh, resolve as follows; 1. That the Inspector General of Police should call his men in Ebonyi State to order and keep to highest standard of professionalism by refusing to serve the evil intentions of Governor Umahi towards the forthcoming polls. 2. That the Ebubeagu militia be dismantled as a matter of urgent national security imperative. 3. Call for the apprehension and prosecution of all Ebubeagu militia members that were involved in the attacks on Linus Okorie and Prof. Benard Odoh, as well as swift investigations into the sudden disappearance of Mr. Uzoma Ani. 4. That President Muhammadu Buhari, as the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, rein in Governor Umahi and his murderous gang before they abort the 2023 general election. 5. That the leaders of the National Peace Committee consider the necessity of administering oaths of good conduct and non violence on Umahi and all those contesting for elective positions in Ebonyi State. 6. That the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) should take cognisant notice of the dire situation in Ebonyi State with a view to evolving necessary containment measures ahead of the 2023 polls in the state to ensure that INEC staff are not disappeared like other victims of Ebubeagu terror gang. Signed: Dr. (Sir) Edward Nkwegu (Labour Party)……………………… Chief Ifeanyi Odii (PDP)………………. Engr. Chukwuma Nwandugo (Action Alliance) …. Prof. Benard Odoh, (APGA)…… |

Indian by race, British by heart. Just like Obama, don't expect him to adopt or initiate policy that will be favourable to Indians and unfavourable to Britain. |
Let's not forget that most of these Tinubu's supporters were paid to be part of the rally. Just take a good look at four million March for Peter Obi. It's obvious that movement was from the heart. The same set people that was tagged 'structureless' by APC. For APC to embark on a walk in support of Tinubu, a slogan adopted by OBIDIENT supporters, should tell you that Peter Obi is a force to reckon with. Even if you are not tired of suffering, you should be concerned about the future of your loved ones. Everything seems to be going haywire. The current dollar exchange if care is not taking may reach N1000 per dollar before the year ends. Peter Obi is not a perfect candidate, but when compared to other candidates, he is the best. He has asked us to trust and hold him accountable. This is the kind of leader that we need right now. Moreover, to govern Nigeria no be moi moi. We need a leader that's both psychological and physically fit. The experience we had under Yardua and of recent under Buhari, where the lives of 200 million Nigeria were held to a standstill because of one man, has taught many Nigerians alot. We seem to have forgotten that part of the history. We can't afford to entrust all our hope ( FOUR GOOD YEARS or MORE) on one old man who is obviously weak and tired all in the name of tribalism and ethnic ism. To be forewarned is to be forearmed. He who has ear, let him make adequate use it.

Unfortunately, the person that's meant to lead by an example is right now in South Korea. ![]() |

iLegendd:I know. But usually civil/public servants are usually given a form to declare their assets. Failure to do so could implicate you, if they find out. For some of us who may be thinking of engaging in such side hustle, this could be our headache. |
iLegendd:What about public servants? I heard they are not allowed to open or own a foreign account number? Remember the case of former Chief Justice of the Federation. What do advice that one should do in such situation? |
Some of us attacking him will even do worse if given the same opportunity. It's not an easy stuff to appear on a big platform such as ARISE TV. With time and experience, he will learn, grow and perform better next time. Before you come me, I'm purely OBIDIENT. |
YourLandMyLand:Congratulations brother. Starting putting money together because very soon your woman will start making request for money for her Antenatal, baby delivery things plus delivery fee. The money for pampers, milk and clothes are not included yet. |
stanliwise:Three things were revealed in that story. One, he was a final year medical student. Two, he decided to engage in other side hustle. Three, he died after a brief illness. No details was given as result to the kind of illness. Which leads us to the earlier submission, if the strike wasn't embarked on would he still be alive? Alot of factors could contribute to that brief illness which resulted in his death - depression as a result of frustration, frustration as a result of staying at home or may be terminal disease. In summary, I was trying to say that strike may be or may not be responsible for his death. |
victorazy:If you are sick and there's no money to take care of the sickness, won't you attribute lack of money as a factor? Moreover, lack of money wasn't the only thing I mentioned. Alot of things may have contributed to his death. According to the story, he died as a result of brief illness. Did they tell you the type of illness? People are really going through alot my brother. A popular proverb says, 'all the lizards are lying with their stomach down but there's no way you can tell which one is having a bellyache". |
CheapHomes1:I did. He died as a result of brief illness. My comment was kind of hypothetical. A lot of things could have led to his death - depression as a result of frustration, death as a result of lack of money to take care of him. And I ended it by saying that people are going through alot including the ones you think are okay |
It's not as if I'm blaming the strike for his death but I've this strong feeling that if schools were in session, he would have been alive. Who knows? Frustration may have contributed to his death together with lack of money. People are really going through alot. |
Samolasoj:Go to the local government where you did physical verification and make an enquiry. They are in a better position to answer your questions. |
Kingdolla:ANNOUNCEMENT!! If you have printed your deployment letter and it has stream 1 instead of 2, go back and redownload again. It has been corrected according to our NPOWER focal person. Checked my wife's own, it turns out the information is true. |
Last week, an undergraduate of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, gave birth to quintuplet (five kids at go - three girls and two boys). The koko be say, the boyfriend left her and ran away. Ever since the outbreak of the news, people have been rushing to FMC to see how they can be of help. |
PastorFire:If you have another account number different from the one you submitted earlier, use it for the account verification. That was directives from an NPOWER focal person. Once you do that, your deployment button will automatically appear while your old account number will be replaced by the new one. |
There is enough money to fight wars but not enough to feed the poor. What an irony? |
Op. I had similar experience few days ago with the same bank as you. The person started with 100 naira worth of airtime. Probably to check if there’s money in the account. From 100 naira to 200, from 200 to 500, 500 to 1000. Initially, I thought it was as a result of network glitch. I even called the number linked to the airtime but the person behind the number denied it. The deduction stopped immediately I transferred all the money to a different account Three days ago, the same number resumed the buying of airtime when he noticed that I had 500 naira remaining in the account. Immediately, I called the customer care for the account to be barred from further outgoing transactions. Now, here's the koko. When I called the customer care, I was told the number was listed on my my account profile. I was advised to quickly go to the bank and update my mobile contact information from the bank. I told the customer care agent that the number doesn't belong to me. I have never made use of such number. My question is this: if the number doesn't belong me, how then did the number found its way to my account profile because I'm sure I've never made use of that particular number. Secondly, how come all this started few days ago. At a time when others are coming up with similar complaints. This should tells us that some of these bank frauds are perpetuated by bank staff internally. |
ezenwaez:Yes, she's. |
ezenwaez:My wife is yet to see her deployment letter. We keep seeing the message "you've not been deployed". What should we do? |
This is good. |
This is very unfortunate. Year one students in Umudike are yet to complete their sessions. The incoming year one students are yet to start. The successful candidates from the last UTME are yet to gain admission. And they are about to roll out another form? I can only say one thing "nawao" |
As you are busy thinking of how to make money through legal means, another man is somewhere busy thinking of how to swindle you of your hard earned money. May we never fall victim to scammers, Amen |
ASUU cannot be deregistered on this ground since they've submitted their audited report. Listen to Femi Falana speak on this issue. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KDBcMeVzk7U |
May be she did that on purpose hoping that someone with a good heart will adopt the baby. Nurturing a baby in this Buhari's administration is terribly hard. To breastfeed a child, you need to feed well. |
Person lose $12k for this economy wey hard like this. Na wao! |
National Industrial Court has adjourned the case between Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and Federal Government till 16th September. Femi Falana is the lead councel to ASUU. He said the govt was in court to seek the following: a. Interpretation of the 2009 FG/ASUU agreement. b. Interpretation on the ‘No work, No pay’.

By the way. |
You signed an agreement, violated the agreement and now you want to sue the other party. No be juju be that? |
