Will having a girlfriend make him a "winner"?

If he doesn't have a girlfriend at 36 years, I wonder how he would get married?
Or will he just get married without being in a relationship or courtship with a woman?

Why are you not in a relationship at your age? Are you shy to woo a lady or what? Even jobless men have girlfriends in Nigeria.

Please how do you outgrow a friend because he doesn't have as much money as you do. You admitted he has a business he is struggling with, have you tried to help grow his business? I did not read anywhere you said you have supported his struggling business financially in the past. Nevertheless, It is not out of order to be struggling with business in Nigeria right now, that is the prevailing economy template. I advise that you cut back on footing his bill anytime you guys hang out together. Give him substantial money ('cos you sound rich) to at least help his ailing business. You should let him know you won't be frequently footing his bill any longer which is why you are helping his business. Advise him to get serious and elevate his personality. Please don't ever tell him you don't want you guys to stop being friend because he is flat broke. That statement is rude, irresponsible and can be suicidal.

In the past, I loaned him 1,000,000 Naira to support his business. Still, he misused the money in the business. He was just telling me stories that customers were owing him a lot after sales and didn't pay a dime to me. In other words, he couldn't account for the money.

You guys are just hypocritical. I am sure most of you have friends that you ignore their calls whenever they call you on your phone. Because you know it's either money or help they want to beg from you.

So, don't be hypocritical with me. It's a reality that each of us pass through in life. I am not an exception.

You can't understand how it feels to still be keeping a friend whom you have outgrown in status The truth is that the friendship is unbalanced. Because the other friend will always think of how to milk you dry by always begging for money and feeling entitled. It's natural. It's just like if Dangote is a friend to you too.

There is a saying " A rich man in the midst of poor men is a poor man".

I have a friend that was just an acquaintance to me when we were in the university. We became friends after we met again in Lagos. My friend is just too broke and poor. It's more than 7 years we've graduated from the university, my friend has nothing to show for it. He can't even take care of his basic needs.

He has a struggling business that fetch him peanut. He has become a parasite and too dependent on me. He always beg me for money all the time. He believes since I am doing well financially, I should always foot the bill whenever we hang out together.

I have tried to end the friendship so as to stick with people in my status. But this guy won't let me go. I am thinking of telling him straight that I have outgrown my friendship with him and he should move on. And that we are no longer in the university like before.

What do you guys think?

What are you saying? Most big businesses today were started by the owners when they were single. Is it Google, Facebook, Microsoft, Apple, WhatsApp, Twitter etc were all started by the singles? Marriage brings stability to a man or woman.

The advantage of being single is that you don't give a damn about stability. You will just want to explore, be creative and daring. Many married have brilliant ideas that they can't implement because they have to consult their partner for consent.

The singles have big advantage in pursuit of success and prosperity. When you are single, you are bold to take risk because you have less responsibilities compared to the married. We all know that only the bold gets the gold. Those with lionheart gets the lionshare of success. Early marriage kills dreams.

I doubt if you earn 500,000 Naira salary in a Nigerian company. If you are bold, mention the company name and I am sure some nairalanders working there can confirm it or not.

How old are you? Your age will determine whether you should keep the pregnancy or not. If your age is between 25-28 years, you can abort the pregnancy, find love again and start afresh. But if you are 30 and above, please keep the pregnancy cause age is not on your side.

What is shameless in the OP asking his father to support his children financially out of the hotel sale? You guys will just talk as if it is easy to succeed alone in this cold world.

I recalled when I graduated 7 years ago from a top federal university with good grade ( second class upper). I trekked the whole streets of Lagos submitting CVs but no job. The few jobs I got are underpaid. God bless my mother. She could see I was ambitious and hardworking but I just lacked financial support to start my own business.

My parents raised 4 million Naira and gave it to me as seed capital to kick-start my dreams. Today, I owned a booming manufacturing company with staff strength of 11 employees. Today, I am far better and ahead of my colleagues who are in white collar jobs.

In a nutshell, if a parent has the means to support their children, they should. It's an edge. The Job market is getting too competitive in the modern world. Good education is not enough.

@OP, your dad is a stingy man and doesn't care about the future of his children. In this modern world, parents training their children to university is not enough for them to be successful and independent.

There are many jobless graduates with good results living from hands to mouth because they had no parents to support them financially to establish a business or connection to get a good job.

It's your father's responsibility to settle you guys with some money out of the hotel sale so that you guys can have capital to start businesses and be financially independent. Even Donald Trump is what he is today because of his inheritance.

@OP, there is nothing wrong in expecting inheritance from one's parents. It's a biblical right and don't allow your dad to deny you.

I met this lady 6 years ago immediately I broke up with my last girl friend, she agreed to visit me after a month and we began to have intimacy on her 2nd or 3rd visit. By 4th month she started disturbing me that her parents want to meet me meanwhile she was a free giver whenever she visited,atimes she sleeps over in my place. There is this cool headed girl I was about sealing her deal then that she spoilt for me. On my first plan visit to her place she was not around I guessed she had a date with one of her guys which I got to know through our conversation over the phone, the guy actually camped her for 3 days but she lied to me that she was with her brother. Eventually I went to her place and I met with her mum and dad her dad had health challenge while her sister is staying in their house on the excuse that her husband works in another town but later got to know that she's having issues with her marriage. On that day its as if I was jazzed because I started doing anything herself and her mum ask me to do. While visiting she used to tell me about getting car that it would be nice and being someone that is so trusting and believing that she will do same to me, she also asked whether I have landed property which I said no. At my place of work there some cars that were place for auction then I applied for one and I was granted.
She complained about my apartment she said the area is bushy I had to look for another apartment I even run to my mum for financial assistance over this.
While preparing for our wedding I funded most of the expenses they were able to do all these because my people do not stay in the city where we are.
After the wedding I was already in debt and she lost her job when it was like 2 weeks to our wedding.
After the wedding she told me that she had bought a car and that it was with her brother.
I began to spend on the car immediately her brother brought the car starting form number.
Some months after the wedding there was an occasion in their family and they share money I carried the highest being that her elder ones are jobless except 2 of them that are managing, she is the last among them.
Six months after our marriage we had our son. She stood on my neck with her mum that we should do all the shopping for the baby being the first born I eventually spent around #250k on this still in debt. Some of those things are useless today.
Around the time we had our baby she said her colleagues in school have started paying for school fees I said she should defer it till following year but her mum started begging eventually I put up my car for sale I never knew that her car is problem on its own which is sold to her by one of her boyfriends. The car is actually a used Nigeria car package for her like new at #600k being fanciful at that time and very presentable than my own we put mine for sale and his brother stylishly bought it from us to clear her school fees.
When she went for exams she came back with some new clothes which I knew were bought for her by her boyfriend.
She got some money from her uncle like 2 years ago she said she wants to travel abroad she spent all the money on the processing which eventually failed.
Around this time I lost my job too, but was able to get some money which I gave to her to go and get her result in school.
She help me get one temporary job which I did for 3 months but before I left ihelped her secure another job this is after 4 years of our marriage I also helped one of her brothers to get job too.
I got another too but lost it around may this year it is a deposit mobilization job so we were all asked to leave when we could not meet up with the target.
Around June my wife started misbehaving I started noticing that she's sleeping around I felt so bad I had to turn to God for serious prayer still hunting for job but God has been faithful in settling some bills.
I got a financial assistance from someone recently through her to pay for rent and children bills when she said she cannot help with the bill.
I feel so cheated and I even think divorce will be the best when I eventually get my life back on track but I don't want my kids to pass through what I went through because I'm a product of a polygamous settings.
Please don't mind my grammar kindly advise me, the did is done already.
Meanwhile the men of God have told me repeatedly that God says I should not revenge.

Brother, I understood your situation. If what you wrote above are actually true, most people crucifying you on this thread would have reacted as you do.

You need to know that you didn't marry a good wife. A good wife will never be a cheerful giver of sex to different men except her husband. I will advice you to be separated from her and observe her behaviour for sometime whether she will change her wayward lifestyle. And if she doesn't, please divorce her.
