damjane: So I recently met these girl who had the same name as me, like my complete name in the same order. I was really freaked out as I have never come across a scenerio like these. I would like to know if these is possible. Someone you don't know, and are not related to in any way whatsoever. Ask your account officer at your bank the question. He/She will show you thousands of their customers bearing same complete names as yours. Nothing special about it. |

YoungFr: Good morning to all Nairalander. I'm a 25 years old guy with one daughter, duo I'm yet to be legally married but me and my soon to be wife and my daughter are living well and very happy. I have my own house and living well, I work as a security guard in a company but the pay is cool I can boldly compare my salary to a police Sargent salary, our department have a cooperative society where we can get a loan up to the amount of 500k which I took a loan, added some of my savings and open a store (chemist store) for the mother of my daughter my soon to be wife. My problem now is this:- I can't stop helping people that comes my way even when I'm broke and have no money with me, few days ago I borrowed money from someone just to help a guy who admitted his kid in a hospital. Sometimes I even end up giving out my last cash, I can't see someone around me that's in need without me helping even if I have to borrow just to assist him or her. I'm posting this cos when I'm in need no one is available to help or assist me, there's was a time I got myself involved in some stuff and needed money to pay off some debts no one helped me, everyone turned me down that I have to sell my iPhone 7plus 190k, that's a phone I bought 320k. Please I need your advice on how to turn down some people, I can't keep living this way, pleasing others just to displease myself, my wife have complained several times but I find it difficult to change. Please no insults, advice is all I want. Thanks Hey Young man, don't you think you are spending above your means? How much is your salary as a security officer in a private company that you are buying a phone of 320,000 Naira? Isn't that extravagant lifestyle? The 320k could have been invested in self development or a business. |

Business › Manufacturing Industries Vs Services Industries, which Is More Vital To A Country by edoman2016(op): 1:49pm On Jul 18, 2018 |
I have often wonder between manufacturing industries or services industries, which is more important to Nigeria's economy? I noticed that manufacturing industries get a lot of attention and support from government of any country compared to services industries.
Most government try to give protection and incentives to the manufacturing industries of their countries. Some even use protection of local manufacturing industries in their election campaign like Donald Trump.
Whereas services industries such as Transportation, Information Technology, Medical services,, Education, Consulting, etc is not considered worthwhile compared to manufacturing industries in most countries of the world . What do you think is the reason? |

You should reconsider your selling price. It's too costly for a second hand home theater system. How much do you think brand new LG home theater system is sold at fuani? That's why you are yet to have buyers. |

Family › Re: How Do You Deal With Setbacks? Share Your Experiences With Major Setbacks by edoman2016: 10:02am On Jun 20, 2018 |
Daniwes: I m posting here cos I guess I need some advice. I m in a major financial hurdle at the moment. I had an unfortunate incident which is in the process of copping me up of over $10,000(ten thousand dollars) and potentially higher. I now find myself thinking sleeping and dreaming of this debt that will be hanging on me. I sometimes think I m not man enough cos I look at those making big financial decisions daily in their companies and ask myself if I cant bear this debt, will I be able to handle something bigger. I m someone who likes to avoid anything which will make me loose money, and guard the little I make because deep down, I find every dollar I make as a lucky dollar I may not see tomorrow.
This is my personal pseudo-diary. I am someone who is averse to responsibilities, its why I cant bear the thoughts of kids if I don't have a stable career. I would normally save money in a certain safe account where I would think that if life goes sour, I can fall back to it in due time and "run away", however, I am now potentially faced with an unexpected debt. The thought is killing me badly. I ve not even been able to go out, just feeling depressed about these things. I m imagining my future and all, and how I am going to come out of these debts.
Today, I was thinking about my granddad who went through the civil war with over 8 kids, lost everything, and still rebuilt from scratch. Wish I could sit with him now to advise me how he did it. I know there are tough people here on nairaland, people who have gone through situations or currently living through "crazy" situations yet not being fussed. How do you do it?. How do you wake up everyday living and planning life when a situation is about to mess with you. Right now, I am not motivated to do anything till I know the full extent of the debts and related associated problems I may face.
I would like to think of myself as a free spirit who hates been tied. I will never do something if I felt tied up. Its why I will rather have $20000 in the bank and no "life" to having just $200, living life and waiting for the next paycheck cos I have a job. I always want to believe I can do anything I want to do. Guys, pls share how you deal with life's challenges. I know some of you have these situations as well as other extended family/ relationship/business problems. I just need some advise How did you get so indebted? Are you into gambling or get quick rich scheme? Elaborate on how the debt came up. |

Career › Re: Travelling To Canada And Starting A Pure Water Business In Nigeria. by edoman2016: 2:18pm On Jun 02, 2018 |
papascode: Good day all,
I have been confused on what to do with the money I have saved. I am a contract staff in one of the banks and I have saved considerable amount of money over the years I have been working there. But I am tired of my job, as same as many of my colleagues who wish they had one quarter of the money I had saved to quit the job.
I am not a lazy man I am very hardworking as adhuged by my supervisors but the issue is I have stayed on one spot for too long and no promotion. My greatest joy is that I was able to achieve a masters degree in a federal university in nigeria while working but my job doesn't give me time to even look out for other jobs. So please guys I am throwing this up here because I know on this thread there are people who have been in my situation before that made the better choice and are happy for it. I have two very important decisions to make either to use the money I have saved to travel abroad for school for masters and hopfully settle down there or to stay here in Nigeria to start up a pure water production factory but Nigeria and it's uncertainties keeps discouraging me. kindly note that I have saved up to 9million naira to take up any of these ventures and I am 35 years not yet married. Please I need honest advice to a brother there are some persons like me who will benefit from this advice we render. Thank you How were you able to save 9 million Naira as a contract staff in a bank? Contract staff in Nigerian banks are poorly paid. Majority of contract staff earn between 70k-80k. I doubt your story. |
Family › Re: A Cry And Urgent Plea For Help by edoman2016: 9:25am On May 29, 2018 |
greatnk: 8am On May 28 Please! Please!! Please !!!
Help us in the name of God Almighty and with too much tears in my eyes great agony in my heart I sincerely and humbly write to ask for the financial help of well meaningful and good Nigerians and Non-Nigerians to enable us survive the bitterness and hardship of life. I am a mother of three children of age 5, 3 and 10 months respectively.
We are in a very very bad and delicate situation where everything has gone from bad to worst and we cannot cope anymore because we have nothing, not even a piece of food to eat and I don't know what else to do right now but I still believe that there are human angels with a heart full of compassion and kindness that God Almighty would use to reach out to me and my children to help and restore us to an up right position once again.
On the 29th of December we were scornfully and ridiculously thrown out of our apartment because of non payment of rent after which we slept in the TREM church off Osoloway for two days with the help of an angel (an Ibo lady who is a member of the church) after which God used another human angel (a Yoruba woman) from Ajao Estate to rescue us ( me and my children) and that was when my husband left from the church since he could not join us to stay in the woman's house and ever since then he has not returned and his mobile number has remained off and the God sent human angel accommodated and fed me and my 3 children for one month and even went furthermore and compassionately rented a room apartment for me and my children in Ikotun area of Lagos and also gave me thirty thousand Naira ( N30,000 ) for support which I used the money to buy raw materials to manufacture insecticides and germicides and supply to retailers and I did this for some time and out of it we do feed and I was able to register two of my children who has been out of school for over a year in a nearby school and pay their school fees for the school term that just past and a new term has commenced and there is no money left with me right now to run my business and take care of my children and their school fees because I spent all the remaining money with me in treating my first child who was very sick and has a heavy growth of E-Coli according to lab test result.
I appreciate God that my child (5 years old) is well again but now we barely feed and I go hunger most times to ensure that my chidren are filled with any little food I could lay my hands on and I coulld not do anything than to cry along with my children whenever the cry because of food which we do offer to people freely in the past before things went bad. I heartily appreciate everything God usec the Yoruba woman in the form of a human angel to do for me and my children and I can't stop thanking God and also the woman he has used to help me and my children greatly but I cannot continually run to her all the time for help since she told me that she is a part time student and have limited resources if not she would not hesitate to help me.
I honestly and sincerely need the financial help of good people to raise a tangible amount of money from N200,000-to-N500,000 to enable me continue my production and supply of insecticides and germicides since I already have a good customer base despite the fact that I have not been able to meet market demand for my products because of the small capital I started with initially. Getting a reasonable capital to start again will go a long way to boost my production capacity and also increase my profit margin greatly which in turn will change things for the better and enable me take care of my self and my children accordingly and also help me to register the products with NAFDAC.
I will be willing to pay back any amount given to me with a minimal interest if need be. Last week I applied for N300,000 loan at AB Micro Finance Bank but my application was not successful because I could not provide a guarantor that owns a shop within their proximity. Please, you can verify all my claims and I pray that God should use you or any person close to you as a human angel from any tribe and race to help me and my children in any way possible within your power and by the grace of God Almighty and surely my God and the God of my innocent children will bless and increase you greatly in every area of life and we shall be forever grateful.
May God Almighty bless you for taking your time out to read my plea for help.
Thanks and may God bless you all.
No assistance will be too small and please here is my contacts;

Family › Re: Should Married Women Adopt Their Husband’s Last Name by edoman2016: 9:00am On May 16, 2018 |
Uranus1: This question is very much open and depends on the culture of a people. The cultural specificity of this, and others like it, is part of why it makes little sense for marriage to be universalized, or for every nation to adopt a one size fits all marriage rules and styles. People should always be free to adopt whichever system that best speaks to their individual or group realities and situations.
In Eritrea for example, women retain their fathers name (and even paternal ancestral name) regardless of marital status. In parts of Igboland of old (prior to the European colonization of that part of Africa), children took the last names of their mothers if the fathers had more than one wife. Till today, descendants of certain clans in Igboland are maternally chronicled. And this is in an ethnic group that is generally paternal.
To the Igbo, it made little sense to subsume every child born to a polygamous man to just his own name. Each wife in the marriage was recognized in genealogy if she had children. Genealogy is critical to the Igbo because they believe that certain traits (physical or behavioural) are transferred genetically from generation to generation.
So when they enquire after a person’s family, they want to narrow it down to the woman that bore the child proper.
The only women whose names were lost in genealogy were the monogamously married ones whose children automatically adopted the husband’s last names.
Western marriage system is monogamous and hence carries with it the automatic adoption of paternal last names. That automatic adoption of last name is being increasingly challenged these days though, but it doesn’t seem to have much propping except on the argument that men and women are equal. The retention of maternal names in individual identification has been retained in America though where an individual’s mother’s maiden names are used to identify the individual.
In the end, it should be desirable for a child to bear a last name that can genetically identify him or her: to connect him or her to blood (or genetic) relations. Last names should not be exotic or issue of style because the ramifications of possible misuse or abuse, are serious.
Appropriate last names should play a reliable role in genetic identification process, at least to help society to forestall possible incidence of inadvertent inbreeding.
https://www.nigerialog.com/family/should-married-women-adopt-their-husbands-last-name/ Go and get a job. Stop posting meaningless thread this morning. Why don't you ask your mother or sisters the question? Rubbish. |

If your 38 years old brother does not work and always stay at home to watch TV, then how does he feed and cloth himself? Definitely, your family is supporting his laziness by providing food, shelter and money for him. Deny him food in the house and he will be forced to work due to severe hunger. |
