Mad Dog. |
In an age where celebrities announce their marriages and break ups on their Face book profile so other FB users know long even before CNN or BBC, what would call that announcement ? It's not news cos it broke on Face Book right ? |
Naijaking God will bless your family. I've almost ten hours trying to explain that to some people. We live in an age where some people get to hear of the news before the reporters themselves, how do you reconcile that to those old rigid definitions. |
If Because Nairaland informs and links you up to a news story/provides you with news service on occasions that makes the entire site a news service, then i guess MTV.com is a news service too. |
Knowledge is free. With logic MTV.com is a news service is a news service and not an entertainment medium, what a pity. |
Chai ! Do you know the difference between a news organisation and providing a "news service" ? Naira land is not a news organisation, get it ? It provides news service by linking you to where the news was gotten. Is it on the web pages of the punch that i got to hear of Cecilia's millions ? The link to their site was on NL, thus a news service was provided to me. When you go to MTV.com and you read the headline of michael Jackson's death and the full story is linked to CNN, hasn't MTV, a music based site, provided you with a news service by informing you of the story and linking you to it ? |
Any rational human being with a decent enough education would be able to sift facts from crap on NL. Do the owners of Naira land have to put up a disclaimer on every thread that does not link what the OP quotes to a credible source ? Please tell me our education has not fallen to such lows. |
Ok, the source that originally reported the news is the source right. So i guess when BBC puts up a picture of Mutallab gotten from sahara reporter, their story is not news. Or when CNN takes feeds from Press TV on the riots in Iran, that too is not news eh ? Do you know that most of the news you hear are gotten from news agencies like reuters and AFP, why go to CNN when you could easily read it from a news agency sight ? |
When some one comes here and says Yar'adua is dead without a corresponding link to a credible/authoritative/verifiable source, surely only an idiot would believe that. But when i wake up on the first of january and come to Nairaland to read that Cecilia Ibru payed herself 200 milion to live in her house and a link to the punch or vanguard website where i can follow up the story is left, surely that isn't anyones idea of drivel. Infact check the definition of news before you come back here to argue. |
Stop insulting yoruba and hausa people needlessly now ![]() |
@ndu chuks , who is to be the judge of whether Nairaland is a news service or not ? The stories on I-Report on CNN are considered news aren't they ? This is 2010 and distinction between one form of media is fast eroding if you don't know ? Is the daily independent a newspaper or a website ? Is the VOA a broad caster or a web based medium ? Is google just a search engine ? All of these media organisations, over time, have evolved from one thing to the other and the lines are fast eroding. Now ,what do you use Naira land for ? Do you come here just to chat with Nigerians from various fields and nothing more ? Then i guess it wolf qualify as a forum for you. Then what about those who come here to find threads that are linked with headlines of interest to them ? Surely Naira land would not qualify only as forum to such people. To people like, of which i am one, Naira land points to issues of interests and provides links to renowned media organisation where the feeds were gotten. If that is not providing news i don't know what is. |
@ Slim What's her name ? Tell us so we can plead for more breathing space on your behalf. Anyways, out of all those guys you mentioned i kind of prefer Bellamy cos of his mobility and his valuable premiership experience. I swear i was hoping to wake up and hear that the striker was already undergoing medicals but no problem sha. Just hope It's not another Feb 1st signature. |
I've always suspected something was up with you, have you tried shock therapy ? |
@tornadoz don't sink to their unenlightened depths. Why would you wish the guy banned ? Isn't that why we're on NL in the first place ? Let them speak so they can realise that what we do here is for constructive not destructive purposes. Like i said if you want to hear a Dora-like sermon go to the NTA website and don't come here where people who experience rubbish on a daily basis come to vent their genuine frustrations |
What rubbish is the OP yarning cos i can't grasp. Are you telling us There's on tribalism in Nigeria or that constant sectarian murders in Kano and Bauchi had no part in that boy's build up ? What about the "kill the infidels" sermons that the illiterate young men in Nigeria hear in Madarasatuls on a regular basis ? You think every one who comes here to post is as ignorant as becomrich and wilywily ? |
^ Why don't you people go to the NTA website to get "substantiated" material ? Rubbish, Naira land is bigger and more trust worthy than any of you will ever hope to become. |
I've not attended Management school, but from the little i know about Global best practices and Corporate governance it reeks of ish to high heavens to say There's nothing wrong with giving loans to companies you virtually own, giving contracts to family members, using corporate funds to hire property from yourself etc. I can't believe some of the things i'm reading here, does any one know the meaning of "conflict of interest" at all ? Why can't a judge sit in a trial involving a family member ? Why can't a detective investigate the murder of his wife ? |
Yes Yes. Nigeria's most visited site is grabbing more global attention, if the dullards in abuja keep ignoring people's clamour for change their stu.pidity will keep being exposed here. I'd believe stories with authoritative links on NL than i do 99.9% of the rubbish on Nigerian TV and Radio. Seun has a responsibility of ensuring that opinions expressed here are left as candid as possible. If Nigerians were happy the reactions here would have reflected that, obviously we're not and that is why the bickering will continue. By the way Happy 6mega watts, NL has grown beyond the realm of just internet forum to public square, better don't sell out. |
Ha. . . Ha . . . Ha . . Hee haw Hee haw. So Luca Toni is leaving eh ? I'm not going to waste my time explaining it to others, but toba save yourself while you can. Don't go down with a sinking ship Happy New Year, Diel ist funkt mer schoul hi hor ![]() |
Happy new decade boys, don't worry going down hill isn't as bad as people make it to be. Besides there'll be memories of the 90s and noughties to keep y'all warm at night. |
Happy Birthday guys, i'm at a loss for words |
First of, HAPPY NEW YEAR COMRADES. Secondly, where are all the Sanusi has a hidden agenda people ? Please come and contribute cos many of us were buying into the stories you sponsored on Nigerian news papers on how the whole thing was part of a conspiracy. Please come out and contribute. |
Well even though calling it a news service doesn't exactly do it justice cos of It's forum like set up, you have to take cognizance of the fact that virtually every thread in the political section starts with quotes and links to various media sites serving as a news service to a lot of Nigerians around the world. |
^ you hear me well. Go tell your husband Happy new year ! |
Bad news, I've been informed by the court of arbitration for sports to hold the results till further notice ![]() |
@deliver us and kristonium, it is thinking like yours that ends a person in a plane in detroit with TNT attached to his scrotum. No be only conflagaration , na configuration. If no be fruit of spirit to loot then why were elder Akingbola and Cecilia doing it and getting applauds from their churches. Atleast Mutallab no thief person money to buy bomb. |
It's typical of American govt to hide such things. That's how they hid the Aliens in Alaska and claimed the UFOs were govt balloons. All the same we thank them for this ingenius plan to invade Nigeria, i can't wait to be a gardener at the governor generals lodge. |
You guys go and read the story on the link first. This 225m is just for her private residence, not mentioning other guest houses spread around the country owned by the IBRUs. What about the 800 mil they paid to one of the IBRU daughter's company to lease one crap ? When i'm in power, surely i'd use the perks available to help out my finances, but for HEAVEN'S sake why run down an institution to enrich myself ? Is this normal or is there something wrong with our collective psyche ? We await elder Akingbola's own |
These were the same rubbish news papers that were crying hidden agenda when Sanusi started his sanitization process. They went as far as saying he had a hidden agenda and made us distrust him, now they're bringing out these materials to make us look like fools for being able to read in the first place, |
@orikinla thanks for telling my friends here what their leaders are like. They are not christians or muslims, yoruba or ibibio or whatever inclinations or affiliations. Those people are power hungry sociopaths that will do anything to get money and power. They will sell Nigeria , their families or anything else to achieve get their warped gratification - was it not your president that fcked his daughter inlaw hard from behind as no. 1 citizen ? This guy could have had any other woman but you know the rest. THEY ARE VAMPIRES. |
@ayinba,GL and Bluetooth. Forget o, you think the governor general's house will hire me and not pay me American gardener salary ? Go and ask Nigerians who work for their embassy if they don't enjoy yankee blessings ? Besides the job will come with some perks that will leave my wages intact. Nna governor general i'm waiting o ! |
