Like i told you in the group, i was interested in same laptop. I know James so i asked him whats wrong because i know the price was quite low and he told me whats wrong with the Laptop(not good because if i had not asked it would have been my cup of tea).

Most times as a buyer do your due diligence, when buying a defective item ask questions.

The moment you proceed to purchase, the seller can exempt him/herself from further closures.

I could sell a laptop i feel its just about replacing battery and not know otherwise, i dont need to say selling as is. It already implies it's a sell as is sales.

Seller sells in assumption and buyer buys in assumption.

Next time ask a seller selling defective item for what the closure would be if otherwise.

I am sorry this happened to you, it's not a pleasant experience due to the huge money involved.

Great to know that the issue had been solved but IMO, you won't stand out as a good judge.
Buyer says the device develops cam issues in a dark room but works fine in a bright place and your take was that he should've confirmed it next time like in what way?
- turn day into night to test the cam's capability in a dark room

Even you wey buy brand new phone for the first time (as you nor like swapping), naso you carry phone enter dark room to confirm say camera dey work for dark?
I fear for who go carry case give you judge.

Whether he likes swapping or not wasn't a concern of yours to start with and even when swapping, it's quite good enough for one to state the issues on ground.

posted an iPhone 11pro max (FU,256GB) with 84%BH and slight scratches on screen) for 355k

I messaged him if he is interested in swapping a phone I got a phone here less than 4days.
My phone spec is iPhone 11pro(FU,256GB) with 88% BH

We concluded i add 30k for the swap from my 11pro to his 11pro max. I made sure to ask if the phone was AIN deal or Nigerian used.

We concluded the transaction on sunday and he sent his phone on sunday (9th)

I transferred my stuffs from my 11pro to his 11pro max and I sent the 11pro and his 30k cash on monday(10th)

On Wednesday, I noticed if I want to take pictures in dark room, or not too bright room, the phone vibrates minimally and the camera becomes blurry.

But when I take pictures outside with good brightness, it works fine.
Yesterday was the worst. I got another iPhone 11pro max for my girlfriend and I wanted to be sure. I tried the camera on both phone and only mine(Henred) phone was giving me that issue. When I went to an outlet same yesterday, I tried FaceTiming babe and she immediately made mention of my blurry camera(I told her to screen record for proof sake of which I have).
I called Henred and he said he was on his way home, and we should talk later at night. At night, he emphasized it was a software issue and advised I reset the phone. I did a backup and did the reset, hoping everything goes back to normal. And i made mention to him, that I wouldn’t want any stuff that will warrant me fixing the phone, I’d rather do an exchange.
Surprisingly, the camera remained the same after I did the reset.

I messaged him this morning, stating that the camera still gives the same issue. And he said he already spoke to an engineer, and the engineer will fix it. I emphasized on the fact that, I don’t want to fix a phone, as I don’t trust phones giving me issues days after I get them and me fixing them later on. I fear for other problems.

And i stated that since he has an iPhone 11pro max for sale, I was willing to add cash and get that. Surprisingly(very funny guy), he said I should add 90k to this one to get that. I laughed it off and emphasized on the fact that I am also a reseller and I know how things run. He said he has another one of 85% BH and I should add 60k.
I stated the following
1. How much did he value my iPhone 11pro (FU, 256GB) 88BH. Does that mean he valued it at 270k?
And he said some intangible things about swap and bla bla bla

I told him I was no longer interested in the swap deal and I wanted my phone back. And when he asked how much I was willing to drop in getting another phone, I stated that the max i can do is 20k.
And I gave him two options
1. Either I go extra miles in getting my phone back(of which I don’t care might dent his image)
2. Or he willingly send my phone and money back and I return his.

And to be on the good side
I am bringing this here before I go extra miles in doing what’s in my mind.

Please I need to raise a dispute though it did not originate from the pickup threads, it is from the technology market section on the following thread https://www.nairaland.com/6653741/order-goods-amazon-ebay-today. I contacted Mannyman to assist in purchasing iPhones from eBay after seeing his thread where he offers to buy items on eBay, Amazon, etc, though I had not transacted with him before now I was not too skeptical because I had done similar transactions with Mayoral who provides similar services here on Nairaland. I paid him for 4 iPhone X 64GB on September 8, 2021, and to date, he has only delivered one phone. I have asked him to refund the unused balance of 400,000 if he cannot make the purchases for me but as I write this, he has cut off communication with me no calls, and lately no WhatsApp.
Please see there is any assistance the members of this thread can render to assist me to recover my money or get my orders from Mannyman. Thanks.

Hello everyone.

I want to report the problematic dealings that I and another Nairalander have had with the user Checkout996 (Mayor Muse Folawiyo).

I made a transaction with him to purchase a smartphone, on March 17th and it has been headaches and problems since then. I was purchasing it as a gift, so I asked that it'd be delivered before the 21st of April, to which he assured me it would arrive before then.

Please note, before purchasing, I asked for his best assurances that he was legit, to which the best he could do was show me screenshots from some of his previous customers. I was desperate, seeing as all the other Nairalanders providing similar services could not purchase a device of that price, but he said he'd get it for me off Amazon instead of eBay as I had originally planned. I decided to go along with him, especially as his rates were attractive.

The 21st of April eventually came around and he said the phone had gone missing in transit, according to the shipping company, though the two accessories I bought had arrived (he later revised and said that only one accessory had ever arrived, which was a charger which I'm sure he bought locally as it was a UK plug instead of US). However, he said the smartphone was insured and he would get a refund for it.
He claims that his two Amazon accounts were locked and that that was what caused the issue.

Since then, it has been me constantly calling and messaging and getting no response 90% of the time. He claims he has been locked up, he has had to pay others, so many different excuses that make it seem that I am no closer to getting my money back.

It was during this time that I was contacted by another person who had transacted with him and was in a similar situation for a similar sum of money. In total, the man owes me N460,000.

I actually do not know how to proceed, so I would love suggestions. I know how he looks and have pictures of him. But I do not know his address and he is currently proving unreachable over phone calls and Whatsapp.

I honestly think I and the other guy have both been patient enough, as despite numerous promises to pay by 'the end of the day' or 'tomorrow', I have not received a single kobo back from him. I am honestly tired.
