I know it is difficult for some of you emotionally charged folks to deal with logical arguments and facts; however, if you would go back and review my initial post on the the thread you may begin to grasp the finer points of my argument - the answers are all there.

For the last time; it is the right of any state or country to enact laws consistent with the interest of its citizens; no Nigerian state has banned the sale and consumption of alcohol under Sharia law; non Muslim states/countries like America have already done so; Christians do need alcohol to practice their religion and cannot therefore claim discrimination or persecution because the ban is applicable to all (both Christians and Muslims).

Goat mentality belongs to those who cannot even exercise basic comprehension; let alone apply logic and intelligence in their argument.
It's pointless and a complete waste of time trying to talk to you

If you were not that gullible; then why didn't you say the same for codeine syrup, tramadol, cannabis, cocaine and other intoxicants also banned in the state and FG?
Let me help you out

Cocaine - should be banned & rightly so too.

The abuse of Codeine & tramadol should be criminalised.

Cannabis- Well that's debatable.

That's why you cannot equate the ban of what you listed with the ban of alcohol sales by the sharia states.

If you even criminalise the abuse of alcohol (drunkeness or driving under the influence) in the sharia states one would understand.
Not outright banning.
That's the proper way to do things and not this firebrigade approach and goatherd mentality that some of you profess.

No state in the north prohibits christianity.. thats falsehood as many northerners are christians even in sokoto we even have fulani's as catholic priest...

and the issue of sharia is the same as having custumary law or state laws.. as far as the state legislature agreed and the governor signs prohibition of alchohol, introduction of moral codes etc then it is their state law and it is allowed
You're either too blinded by religious sentiments or too plain stupid to see that by your own analogy you're contracting yourself and as such coming off as both hypocritical and bereft of common sense.

Sharia is the same as having customary law according to you but that is very misleading.
Sharia is law inspired by and heavily steeped in the Islamic religion so stop talking trash.

The hisbah are enforcing laws enacted with a religious undertone.
The inclusion of those concepts - sharia law, hisbah, etc in the first place is proof of the fact that Islamic law holds sway in those states & by implication they would be rightly classified as Islamic and by extension religious states.

It would have been a different ball game if as before it was just the penal code that operated there.
But by Institutionalising Sharia law, the governors simply fused religion and state matters so all this balderdash you're talking here simply goes to show how bleeped up your thinking is probably as a result of the religion you're defending here. (happened to Abdulmutallab as well so it's not peculiar to you.)

OP was on point until he made the same mistake many others continue to make concerning adoption of Sharia in the 12 northern states.

Let us get this very clear; so far Wike is only governor to declare a particular religion (Christianity) for his state; I repeat, no other other governor has done what Wike did - including those northern who introduced sharia penal code in their states.

There is a big difference between adopting a religious law (alongside others) targeted only at it's adherents (Sharia for Muslims only) against adopting or declaring a particular faith (Christianity) as the blanket and only religion (at the exclusion of others) for a state - as Wike did.

Unfortunately, many Nigerians are being deliberately misled by those opposed to Sharia (CAN, the media etc) into believing otherwise - it is even more unfortunate that many seemingly intelligent folks have been gullible enough to have fallen for this false narrative; including the OP.
Una go just siddon type better nonsense.
Is there a difference between six and half a dozen?
Cos your point of sharia and penal code not equating with a declaration of a Muslim state simply amounts to that

RomanceRe: My Sister Is About To Marry An Osu Man, About To Commit A Serious Taboo by efeski(m): 10:18am On Nov 24, 2019
TheSkyIsBlue:
My Sister Is About To Commit A Serious Taboo All In The Name Of Marriage

Hello Nairalanders!

Please ignore any typographical or grammatical error. I just want to pour it out the way it is in my heart.

I am seriously confused and worried about what is happening in my family and I will appreciate your candid advice.

There is this guy my sister has been in a relationship with for over seven years now. so he actually asked her hand in marriage and decided to come see my parents for introduction, about some months ago. My family decided to take their time to find out more about the guys family background as is required in Igbo tradition.

After several questions asked, my family came to find out that the guy is an Osu (an outcast). On knowing this, everybody in my family told my sister to cut ties with him and discontinue the relationship because it is a big taboo to get married to an Osu in my place . If you do, no family member or friend will attend your wedding or even have anything to do with you again.

But my sister refused to listen to anybody claiming she really loves the guy, that they have been together for a very long time and that she is not getting younger anymore (mind you, she is in her early thirties). Everybody (my parents and extended family members) tried to talk her out of it but she still didn't listen.

After much pressure and her continues insistence, my dad decided to give them his blessings, although against his wish (my dad is actually not really deep into tradition). Now the guy has done all the traditional rights and paid for her dowry. Their wedding is coming up soon.

But the problem now is, according to tradition and from what I heard, if she was allowed to go with the guy without my dad giving them his blessings, the stigma would have just been on her and she alone would have been considered Osu, since she insisted to continue with the marriage. But now that my dad has given them his blessings, it is considered that all of us (her siblings) will also have that link of Osu too. Except if she decide to put an end to the relationship and discontinue with the wedding, which I don't think my sister is ready to do.

I am really worried and depressed about it, cause I don't want anything that will affect me tomorrow when I want to get married just because of my sister's mistakes.

I will really like to get opinions and sincere advice especially from those that are familiar with tradition, cause I'm seriously bothered. Thanks!
Op sounds like a selfish tribalist resistant to change.
Op sounds like she's gonna readily sacrifice her twins to aleku & amadioha in the evil forest in 2023 of her osu priest says so
