I know Harrison Methodist in Fort Worth has CNMs. For birth center CNMs special beginnings in grand praire and fort worth birth center have CNMs. Dont know anything about their packages though, I use CPMs.
Thanks a million. Will check with the hospital and look through CPMs too; not considering birth centers though.

cost effective? how much did you pay please? also does one pay full to the emergency surgeons or they have self pay option? i thought midwives delivers in their facility or home, how come its a hospital birth? person wey dey ask question no dey miss road oh grin
No i did not pay extra for the surgeon. Just showed up with the CNM during delivery at the hospital. they are in the same physician clinic but the VB went smoothly without hitches. I paid about $1800 for the CNM instead of $2300 for the doctor.

Hello All, so i am unexpectedly back here. Just discovering i'm pregnant. though i had my baby in US the last time without hitch thanks to this thread; i have to change location of visit this time. Anyone has info on CNM (Certified Nurse Midwife) around Arlington Texas?
i registered with one the last time and it was very cost effective. if your planned delivery is by VB and they always have surgeons available in case an emergency CS needs to be done.
Any info please help. PS: it's hospital birth o

If it applies to NB too,why on earth do we now stress our selves trying to get a visa before leaving the US? I think we need to research this and know the very truth. I would really love to know this is true.
My understanding before entry was that you had to pay ahead or something. But I was approached by an immigration officer when he saw the non Nigerian passport. Had gotten the visa already before leaving US anyways. This was July last year

Anybody??
There's actually visa on arrival for non Nigerian passport holders. I recall that on arrival, I was asked if I have a visa for my baby that if I wanted to get it I should go to a section in the airport. Typically, US citizens can get on a plane almost anywhere without a visa, just passport while immigration issues or visas are sorted at entry. This applies to newborns also

For those considering buying extra leg room, confirm that safety allows it. Most airlines have the extra space near the emergency exit doors and do not allow children or people with infants to sit there.

Hello house, just so you know that there are other methods of pain relief other than epidural for VB that can save you costs. There are medicated (about 300 or less) and non-medicated which is free. If you are a second timer or more you may explore. Just ask your practitioner

thanks for pointin that out. That's y I stated in one of my previous post that I cud not remember if Chigoziri was asked durin her interview or not.

Anyway lots of advice has been given on the issue so she can think it tru and follow her heart not forgetting to pray very well too
I also recall she lives in a west African country other than Nigeria. The visa was cancelled at the embassy over there. Not to say rules are less stringent in Nigeria, but the response you receive here days it's not illegal to birth in US. Just ensure bills are paid and no recourse to public funds

Good morning my beautiful people of God, please i need help ooo, Does anybody here have a sister whose mummy's sister in law's friend has had a good birthing experience in New Jersey, Spent the whole of last night calling random doctors and hospitals and its not funny at all. An average doctor is quoting 5k while an average hospital is quoting about same...this excludes all other fees. I'm thinking of paying all those Agents to help me look for, but that should not be heard with a wonderful e-family like this. grin I have paid for my flight but still don't have a hospital. please help with suggestions oo. Thank you in advance
Hello, mentioned this on part 1. There's Christ Hospital in Jersey city. My friend spent a total of about 6500 for cs. Several docs and nurses are Nigerians and Ghanaians. However, Jersey city na ghetto o

For those who wish to book on, etihad use travelstart or wakanow(hope I'm allowed to post this). This is because if you will do directly on their site youth have to do a multi city booking LOS-AUH AUH-JFK JFK-AUH AUH-LOS. you also need to note that there is 12 hour stop over at abu Dhabi on each leg and they only fly to and from Lagos on Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays. To avoid this complicated route, use the sites provided and just select your dates. Travelstart is better because you can input +/-3 days.

The lagos dubai journey was a lot more comfortable for me than the dubai Dallas leg, emirates economy no get leg room at all and I was unlucky enough not to have any free space beside me, it wasn't funny, coupled with the fact that I requested for wheelchair services bt never got it, the walking at the dubai airport wasn't easy on my back at all, then when we got to Dallas after 15 hours of discomfort, I had to be on my feet for 2 hrs as there were many flights arriving at the same time, the officers no just look my side at all, dem no send me and my big belle, i tried severally to get them to help as i had to catch the flight to elpaso bt they kept insisting i had time, bt God in his infinite mercies compensated with a wonderful CBP officer.
The interview was very brief, less than 5mims
We said hello and he asked me where I was going, told him elpaso and he went say what? I'm from elpaso (I was so happy I knew baba GOD had taken control) and from there it was all smile, he asked if I was in the army I just laughed and said no, then he asked what I was going to do I told him vacation and to have my baby, then he said oh guess U ' ll be using --- (he was trying to remember the name of the health centre) , I reminded him and he said oh ok, bt isn't it expensive I told him yes bt it's discounted for self - pay patients, he said ok, all the time he didn't ask for any docs just told me to finger print, scanned my passport, took my pic and stamped me in for 6 months, I doubt if he even checked my visa interview transcript, na that one bin dey fear me
after that I picked my bags and went to check in for the local flight (let me mention that I had to pay 60 usd for my bags on the flight to elpaso)
All in all I give glory to God it was a stressful journey but the Poe experience was sweet.
Checked into intown suites, I have even had my first appointment and paid the bill, na to dey wait for baby remain.
Abeg I don't know ow to send pms, elpaso mums staying at intown suites, ow do we meet, this place is really quiet o
I thot they had upgraded flights from Dubai to Dallas to the new A380 jets

Hello house,

Please has anyone experienced poe at miami? Please share your experience if you have .

Also has anyone flown Qatar airlines before? how was the experience.
My husband flew Qatar to Dallas when I had my baby, the experience was not pleasant. 21 , hours layover, they refuse to grant Nigerians visa to go into town and stay in a hotel. They were left in the departure lounge with miserable food court vouchers. However, he mentioned that a family with infant was given access to business class lounge so they may do same for pregnant women but it's better to consider another

This is the first time am hearing that ooo, normally they tell you to fill the name on your passport. Well may be hospitals have different methods sha. But in my case they said I have to use the name on my passport.
Even on the child's passport application, they ask for your last name at birth. I guess the hospital modeled same. Way back on this thread before we lost some members, this has been mentioned before

I think it depends on the long leg you are using ooo, I got mine the following day, would have gotten it same day but I wanted to get something from someone in Abuja town so I could not wait. If you decide not to change your last name from your maiden name before you travel, your name on your baby's birth certificate will be your maiden name. If your hubby doesn't mind that sha, that was what happened to me for my first baby.
I have my married name on my passport but in US, they still insist on maiden name for my child's BC. didn't make a difference.

For New Jersey bound mothers, try Christ Hospital. Has a lot of Nigerian and Ghanaian staff and reasonably priced. It's not a 5 star hotel but standard is still good. The person I know spent around 7k for CS. Though I don't know if they give quotes and letters before traveling and it's in Jersey city

You don't need to sun dry the ogi. Carry it Frozen put it inside ziploc n you are good. Once you get to US put it in the freezer immediately. You can do same for your iru too.
Carrying iru is risky. When my husband was coming over, the first thing they asked him was if he had iru or egusi (they called it like that verbatim). They have african food experts. You don't need that kind of attention when pregnant

@supamom, i flew Emirates to DFW in May. Journey of life but enjoyable. There was dubaiconnect and I even visited the gold souk. Also, the great part coming back was that I paid only 61 dollars for the infant ticket. I just called their US centre to book. DFW is also one of the few places you can do a tax refund (though only half gets returned)
