PoliticsRe: Filling Stations Still Sell At N141 In Ondo by efisher(m): 8:00am On Jan 17, 2012
As expected. They will always have an excuse to sell higher even if they still have subsidized stock.
PoliticsRe: Chevron Report That An Oil Rig Caught Fire Near Niger Delta by efisher(m): 6:39am On Jan 17, 2012
It's obvious a lot of people have no idea what a rig is. That's why they come in here to rejoice at this catastrophic event. Pathetic!
PoliticsRe: Do You Think Pdp Will Win Presidential Come 2015? by efisher(m): 6:33am On Jan 17, 2012
It depends on a lot of things but the probability is very high. Until then, enjoy Fresh Air!!!
PoliticsRe: "If I were Mr. President" :your Advice To GEJ by efisher(m): 5:04pm On Jan 16, 2012
*Ensure all the looters of subsidy money are arrested and prosecuted asap.
* Quickly swing into action with the money available now to execute some very visible projects (eg roada).
* Tighten borders and order arrest or petrol smugglers (Give incentive to performing customs officers).
* Facilitate swift passage and signing of PIB into law.

With these things, he can embark on massive awareness campaign showcasing benefits of complete removal of subsidy. In max of 6 months, implement full removal of subsidy and hence, deregulation of downstream sector.

PoliticsRe: At 97naira/l Do We Still Ve Subsidy On Pms by efisher(m): 2:17pm On Jan 16, 2012
We didn't shut the door, we only reduced the opening a bit. Any little wind can force the door open again. The earlier we shut the door, the better.

PoliticsRe: Ss And Se Must Buy Jonathan Petrol @ #140! by efisher(m): 7:54am On Jan 16, 2012
If you think FG didn't have this as part of the plan, think again. N141 was just a bargaining chip and N97 is a starting point. Full deregulation here we come!
PoliticsRe: Soldiers Flood Lagos Streets As Jonathan Orders To Forestall #occupynigeria Prot by efisher(m): 7:34am On Jan 16, 2012
If you must blame GEJ for this move, also remember to blame Fashola.
PoliticsRe: President Jonathan Approves N97/Litre As The New Pump Price For Petrol by efisher(m): 7:28am On Jan 16, 2012
I dey laff ooo.

If only we had the courage to swallow this bitter pill in one gulp, it would have been better for us. Anyway, in order to carry everyone along, this move is welcomed.

I suggest you all focus your energies into "policing" the money generated from this price increment. Let's see what FG can do and then press on to full deregulation. The earlier we do this, the better for all.
PoliticsRe: Subsidy Removal: The Govt Has A Superior Argument Than NLC/TUC And Civil Society by efisher(m): 7:00am On Jan 16, 2012
Some protesters don't even know the meaning of subsidy. Some have said it is a "fundamental human right". I call it blind protest.
PoliticsRe: Gej's New Low by efisher(m): 6:14am On Jan 16, 2012
Does Sahara Reporters employ clowns? Many of their articles are "clownish".
PoliticsRe: IBB To Jonathan: Begin Restructuring Of The Country Now by efisher(m): 6:03am On Jan 16, 2012
I agree with the message. It's time to move towards a lean government and decentralization of power. Govt needs to transfer some responsibilities to the states. Some infrastructure like roads etc should be given to states to manage.
PoliticsRe: Fellow Nigerians Please Don't Be Fooled Or Get It Twisted! by efisher(m): 5:45am On Jan 16, 2012
If you are truly interested in protesting against corrupt practices, why not focus on the issues around corruption and leave the pump price out of it? The issue of pump price is an economic issue and if NLC okays it, it is binding.
PoliticsRe: Was This Analysis By Femi Falana? by efisher(m): 8:55pm On Jan 15, 2012
Who said the govt gets only 5 trillion? The whole analysis is completely wrong. Saveuspls has also raised other points. I don't even know where to begin puncturing this a'nal-isis from! If whoever did the analysis is a graduate, his certificate needs to be withdrawn asap!

One more: Where are the proceeds from LNG sales?

Politics"sweet" Way To Fund Subsidy In The Short Term Till It's Fully Removed by efisher(op): 7:24pm On Jan 15, 2012
Tax the rich and subsidize the poor.
How?

Increase tax for all workers who earn over N250,000 monthly. For those who earn over N1,000,000 monthly, their current tax could be doubled. (This includes politicians). This should be able to offset some of the bill. If necessary, the tax period could be extended till all d money paid as subsidy is recovered. By this, FG will not lose a dime during the period of time subsidy is paid. I bet Nigerians will accept this proposal. Hahaha

Ok
PoliticsRe: Timaya On Subsidy by efisher(m): 6:37pm On Jan 15, 2012
@ Alj, I agree this is one of the hardest pills Nigerians have had to swallow. I guess it's because this is a different pill from the others. I am also happy that Nigerians have reacted this was (as expected). This is because, if it eventually pulls thro, GEJ will need to do a lot of work to justify the huge sacrifice. because of this move, our refineries will have no choice but to function properly. Our power situation and every other key challenge will also have to be dealt with squarely. Anything less will be suicidal for GEJ. He tends to do well under pressure.
PoliticsRe: Gej Meets With Governors And Ministers Today by efisher(m): 6:09pm On Jan 15, 2012
Broadcast?

If so, I guess he may want to personally make d announcement that we're reverting back to N65 until further negotiations pull thro. He may also want to inform us of some huge successes made so far in the fight against boko rams amongst other tins.
PoliticsRe: Timaya On Subsidy by efisher(m): 5:52pm On Jan 15, 2012
Alhaji, when will it be the right time? Today it is boko rams, tomorrow it may be hurricane babangida, tsunami obasanjo or some earthquake! There is never a time where there won't be challenges. The wise men say: The farmer who waits for perfect weather never plants.
PoliticsRe: Increase Petrol Price By 85 Kobo Every Week For 3 Years by efisher(m): 5:09pm On Jan 15, 2012
Me no likey. Why?
1. Postponing the evil day.
2. Marketers will take advantage of d situation. Eg sell only 4 days in a week and hoard for the next 2 days in order to make more profit the next week.
3. The worst: How can you tell what the price will be in 3 yrs time? It may end up to be a race to no destination besides the refineries will have to wait till the market is settled.
