MY TRAVEL STORY PART 2.
Hey all how are you great i hope congrats to new visa holders!
So my story continues.... I requested water from the air host but was so shaky that i poured half of it all over everybody around! i was soo embarrassed i wanted the ground to open up and let me pass underground to my seat! i got to my seat the flight to Abu Dhabi was uneventful, except that they UN-boarded one guy( i dunno why). we got to Abu Dhabi they have a USA border control point there so it was like landing at a USA POE. the USA C.B.P( Customs and border Protection) officer requested my I-20 and Sevis fee receipt i gave it to him, he took my finger print and a picture, then suddenly said i was too early that i am supposed to show up next week and not this week so i have to go back and return! oh boy!!! poo nearly comot for yansh! i was like WHAT? He said yes that the date on my I-20 shows that 30 days is supposed top start a week from now, but i should hold on he would have to take it to his superiors so i followed him to the secondary waiting area he put my docs in an envelop and told me to wait. this was 30 mins to my flight take off i sat down and did a serious prayer session a white guy came out called my name and asked me why i showed up too early, i explained to him that according to the dates i have i am actually coming on the after the first day of my 30 days he asked for proof of that then i gave him my admission letter he read it, took it to someone else and told the person i was right that its the schools fault apparently the dates on my admission letter and I-20 are different so they went thru my bag saw my fish dint raise any eyebrows about it helped me seal it up properly, by this time the airline staff was there to ask if the plane was going to go without me they said no that i am done they should wait for me, so they stamped my passport and off i went on a mad dash to catch up with the plane again!
i got in successfully, drank water(thankfully i didn't pour it on anyone lol) the flight to LAX was uneventful too just loooooong. i got to lax didn't have to go through border patrol again just straight to baggage claim then discovered my bags were both missing! i filed a report some of etihad staffs came gave me forms to fill and all that, another one came, a lady called Mona she asked for my passport that she wanted to take a picture of it i gave it to her, then she gave me an envelop with 40dolls as compensation while they look for the bags thinking my passport was amongst what she gave me i walked away. as i got to the door i started checking for my passport alas it wasn't with me i quickly went back i didn't see it ion the floor so i went to her and she claimed to have given it to me. all the other people there said they saw me give her but didn't take note to see her return it. and THAT IS HOW MY PASSPORT GOT LOST! its been 2weeks now still haven't seen it the Nigerian embassies are all 4-8 hours away by air! they said i have to come physically for a new passport or wait till April when they come to Los Angeles. I have informed my school of the situation and they said its no problem that im safe, whenever i get a new passport i should just bring it in. but my question to the gurus in the house is this
CAN I GET SSN WITHOUT PASSPORT?
CAN I OPEN BANK ACCOUNT WITHOUT PASSPORT?
I need to be able to work so i can pay my rent and other things.
PLEASE HELP A VERY SCARED SISTER IN OBAMALAND WITHOUT PASSPORT

Hello all Long time no log in soo much has been going on with me.
here is my travel script it is not a happy one.
on tyhe day of my trip i got to the airport early, thinking that since i already checked in online oit was going to be a breeze... how wrong i was!
First they said one of my bags was over weighted that i had to reduce it. i promptly did so and when paid for excess baggage about 10k everything was going on a bit fine until one babe came in and decided to take over my matter. she weighed my bags again and couldnt find fault with that and said i must open the bags for her to search i did that and she said i had to remove my dried fish and grounded egusi that they wont let me carry it i said why and she said it was against usa policies i tried to explain to her that my friend traveled last week and i packed according to her list that they didnt raise any eyebrows for her and she said that's my business that if i wanted to fly i must remove them that the laws changed the night before. one of her colleagues said it wasnt applicable to los angeles but she shut him up that i must remove them, so i did so immediately and gave to my sister. then she said she wanted to weigh my hand luggage i brought it forward and she said it was too big that i had change the bag , her colleagues said it didnt look too big she shushed them up again so i asked her to measure it herself and see it wasnt, she said the person in charge of measuring was not in and that as far as she is concerned it was too big and if i wanted to fly i must change it , so i did and she weighed it again , it was over weight by 0.5kg she made me remove that i did. then she said i couldn't fly with my handbag and laptop bag that one of them must go! even though on the bottom part of my ticket it said i was entitled to carry them both she said if i wanted to fly i had to carry just one or i wasnt going anywhere! i pleaded and pleaded to no avail then i dropped my laptop bag and put my latop in my hand bag then she said she wanted to weigh my handbag!!!she did and said it was overweight! i asked by what standard cos there isnt any weight .limit for your handbag as long as you can carry it, or put it under the seat in front of you she said no and i explained that it was because of my laptop in it she still said no until one of her colig put his foot down and told her to let me go by this time i was the last person to check in and get a pass the boarding gate was already about to be closed. so i ran thru customs paid their compulsory bribe of 1k put my fish and egusi back in my bags sealed and handed over to etihad and then when i got to the boarding gate she had already called ahead already i was soooo late that a nice woman whom i didnt know was a person of authority had been looking at it all, so when she saw me running she asked for my name and called ahead to hold the craft! when i got to the gate the devil lady had already called ahead to tell them to reweigh my bags and search me extra when they couldnt find anything extra, her partner in evil told me my tablet was considered a laptop and that i am entitled one laptop so i had to drop either my laptop or my tablet! i was sooo late so i just got on my knees and started pleading she refused that if i know i want to fly then i had to drop one of them that no begging can save me. fortunately my good Samaritan was still around so i turned to her and begged her to collect it from me so i could call my sister to come pick it up from her the next day but she just told them to let me go.
so in i ran to the plane by that time i was gasping for breath like i was about to faint so the host was like calm down ma'am its ok you made it just calm down

If your school requires that then u should if not be calm and happy. If I may get you right, isn't it the card that shows your immunizations record? If not, pls forgive me, because "yellow card" is an ambiguous term. A yellow card in my school means something else ooo

good morning please I picked up my passport with visa today but they said my visa is expiring 2016 instead of 2018 when my program ends.

please among the documents sent to me, there was a line at the bottom of the last page that I am another allowed to work even on campus for my first semester as an Intl student.
I have mailed them asking for a waiver to that rule. any other ideas on how I should go about it? can someone who has gone through same experience tell me how they did it?

It still feels like a dream! This is the first time I am applying to a usa school and appearing at the embassy! No document was requested as back up I give all the praise to my father in heaven.
P.S- I submitted my I-20 along with my DS-160 form at the entrance i saw it with the VO but he did not give it back to me, and there is no number or anything on the pick up slip. I hope that is ok.

had my visa approved at 9am today at the Lagos consulate!!!!

@meek pie congrats Gurus in the house please help out I requested my transcript from NOUN since 05 AUG till date my school still hasn't received it. they are offering to accept a scanned copy because the deadline is close, but noun is refusing to give me directly. the last i heard they said they sent it out on the 15th of Sept! please does anybody have any idea how long it will take to get there? they did not even agree to disclose the shipping method like it was on sacred secret.

Dot1: Here, we are proponents of 'doing it yourself'. It is not rocket science. Those you called pro (maybe Agents) are not special in anyway, they don't have two heads.
Also, doing yourself heads you during the interview as you can remember and answer any questions asked by the V.O.
Another plus is; you can always come back here to ask any question that appears inscrutable while filling the form.
