Politics › Re: National Cake Vs African Time On Nigeria's Political Space by egift(op): 4:51pm On Aug 12, 2014
National Cake
This is the concept and the believe that once you are close to the seat of power, you are entitled to divide and share what is available. A lot of government assets and policies are auctioned to family members, interests and proxies that hold them in trust for those in power.

The National Cake ideology does not encourage competence as beneficiaries are not considered on how competent or if they are ever qualified. This has become the face of corruption in Nigeria. It is so widespread and cuts across of imaginable lines in the nation. It has no boarder, be it religion, ethnicity, class, location, political parties, status, language, state, etc.

Some of the example I can imagine include:
- Legislators seating the chambers doing nothing and squandering all manner of salaries, benefits and even money that should go to their constituents.
- Government officials hyper-inflating budgets, contract fees, getting kickbacks from contracts at very ridiculous percentages, etc.
- Stealing public utilities to sell and re-awarding the contracts to themselves.
Politics › Re: What Manner Of An Opposition Party Is APC? by egift(m): 4:32pm On Aug 12, 2014
APC is a breath of fresh air to the corrupt ridden PDP that has spent 15 years in making Nigeria a giant crawling on it stomach. APC is a viable alternative to PDP. Never in this democratic dispensation have we ever had an alternative that defeat the monster called PDP.

By voting in APC and voting out PDP, Nigerians will achieve 4 things in our Political Space:
1. That the Masses are the Boss. While our politicians are the servants.
2. It will mean the APC will not repeat the callous and nonchalant leadership dispositions that PDP have been dishing out for the last 15 years.
3. PDP will have the opportunity to go back to the drawing board to prioritize what is paramount to them (protect criminals or serve the masses).
4. And since PDP know how to steal, they will better police the FG under APC by exposing any imaginable malpractice even before Nigerians can find out.

So any Patriotic Nigerian will see that it is for the best interest of Nigeria to vote out PDP and elect APC come 2015. This nation will triumph again.
Politics › Re: National Cake Vs African Time On Nigeria's Political Space by egift(op): 4:19pm On Aug 12, 2014
African Time
The way we manage time in Nigeria, it will be difficult to imagine that Nigeria was colonized by Britain, a country well known for its regards to being prompt and adhering to time. When the British where here, the culture of Time-Keeping was very important.

Today, people will invite you to a 10.00am event and even at 12noon, you will hardly see anyone there. Even the organizers will be still running around to start. Sadly even government functions takes the same trend.

The concept of "African Time" is killing productivity and is collectively hampering our potentials. (Do other African countries have this same challenge?).
Politics › National Cake Vs African Time On Nigeria's Political Space by egift(op): 4:09pm On Aug 12, 2014
National Cake and African Time

These two concepts have cropped into our national life and is taking a negative toll on Nigeria. This is a discussion on them and let us explore these concepts and suggest possible solutions.

Here are some of the areas you could consider (pick any):
- When did it originate in Nigeria?
- What are they? (Try explaining what they are)
- How common are these? Any examples?
- Can it be eliminated?
- Suggest possible solutions.

Have your say.

Politics › Chibok Girls: 120 Days Of Inaction by egift(op): 8:45am On Aug 12, 2014
From inability to provide results, the killing of all the Boys in the school, whisking away nearly 300 innocent school girls, shameless denial and second-guessing the reality on ground, to Committee, their reports, the campaign and movement and all the efforts to subjugate and subvert the call for action from the government - It is sad to say that 120 days later, not a single child have been rescued by the Federal Government.

In the last 120 days, it has been a continuous agony for the families of these kids. We use this opportunity to call on the government to rescue these children alive and now. Believe it or not, this may end up being the definition of President Jonathan's legacy in history. It is not as if he do not know where the girls are.

May God bless them all.

barcanista: you av spoken well bro. Politics of hatred will not make opposition wrestle power from the incumbent. If APC can't show civility and maturity, but instead display sheer hate people will not only vote 4 pdp but campaign against APÇ in the spirit of "the lesser evil of the two".
vedd: Make your peace with barcanista, pls!
Progressives need a united voice, and it's unwise to divide the house with such trivialities.

Gracias!
Barcanista is one of my favorite pals on Nairaland. Even when we disagree, we are still best of buddies. Though I do not know why he was make so much effort to claim that critism of Mr. President is his tribe when I never said so. If someone else that supports APC said it, I had expected he take it up with him.

And I apologies if I said anything out of place. As I said, Jonathan is a Nigerian and that is all I see. Long live "Nairaland"!

It is not rocket science, and i am not a fan of the Otuoke man, or any other politifcian for that matter. I dont even know the political parties we have in Nigeria and who is where or representing what. It saves me a lot of stress.

No matter your sermon, a "Picture is worth more than a billion words". Unlike you, I criticize the government not to Pull it down but to see it work. barcanista: you are so wrong and adamant in going at any length to insult Dr. Jonathan that you tactically include his tribe. I am getting this impression that Jonathan's tribe is among the reason for the hate. While I his kinsman criticize him(and even abuse him) for his style of governance, you are doing yours because you hate everything about Jonathan. An insult to Ijaw nation is an insult to me and if you can ridicule Ijaw nation it means you deserve no respect from any sane Ijawman.
Stop deluding yourself you are the only he who have problem with where our President came from. I bold them in your comments. It is PDP's classic instincts in throwing tribe once they loose their voice. Soon you will throw in religion and see if it will stare the hornet. Shame on you.

President Jonathan is a Nigeria and that is all that matters. What we are interested is the quality of leadership he have offered the nations.

Go back to FFK and Metuselah and ask for more talking point, because the garbage they gave you is not working.

You have no life, APC is your only hope .
Guess what? You will remain hopeless as there Is no vacancy in Aso rock grin
So we are have a discussion, you are looking for those that will fight me. With the way you are throwing abuse and displaying anger, it seems you may have been exploited by those who looked after you.

As for the PDP, Nigerians have lost hope in them. "No matter how long you queue behind a broken vehicle, you will not move forward"
