Religion / Re: What The Actual F--- Was The Meaning Of That Job Story? by Ehiscotch(m): 3:15pm On Oct 09, 2021
You aren't really interested in knowing about Job. Even if we give you answers you would say it is biblical and all what not like the story wasn't.

It's like reading the story of a man and using the character, words, previous or subsequent actions of the man to explain his decision and you say we are being illogical. And you present your flawed and subjective human reasoning as basis for your skepticism.

The question is "will you believe it?"

Your understanding of the "mysterious ways" of God is the problem here. It means Buhari can claim to be God. God has a personality and he is not wavering or changing; he is the ancient of days, so No I won't believe you.

He is not going to say "Oh, Ehis. I want to prove you faithful and want you to argue in my favour on Nairaland so I'm gonna register and dispute with you about me". No, instead he creates a situation where I meet an atheist like you.

God has use of everybody but all to his glory and without overriding their freewill. So God doesn't need to be you to Do you.

If I tell you that I am God and that I am here chatting with you because I work in a mysterious way, would you believe that?
I would ask why you are doing this and how it pertains to my holiness or godliness. God doesn't do things without purpose; it would be utterly uncharacteristic of him. I wish you knew more about him yourself than what you have heard others say about him.

OK, what is the evidence that Jesus was born without fertilization?
Why are you avoiding that question?
Because it was a miracle. If you were discerning you would have inferred this from my posts. You know Joseph didn't believe Mary, and was skeptical as you are, "Even in the age were people believed stories of sticks turning to snakes, and an exodus from Egypt and animal sacrifices". I am not saying there was no fertilization but I don't want to speculate really.

Where did I mention that people back then were uncivilised??
Civilization is about 10k years old
You still haven't answered my question on why god heals the blind but not amputees
It's the philosophy behind your question. Are you saying God heals but he doesn't heal amputees in particular or God hasn't healed an amputee, so God doesn't heal at all?

whether or not it's possible hasn't been tested positive.
As a matter of fact,, every attempt to test miracles has resulted in negatives
that is because you all fail to understand the basic definition of miracles: It is a supernatural work of God in natural situations. You many times as atheist say these things cause themselves which has a wider implication on things like reasoning. Is your mind a machine of its own and your actions just reactions? are you a product of some bio-mechanical combinations? God gave man a complete freedom to live on Earth and have dominion of it, naturally, but that doesn't stop God from influencing it at certain times. That's why there was one talking donkey. Why didn't God just take all the Israelites in the air and dump them in the Promised Land? I These are the kinds of questions you all ask.

What are you talking about? I am asking why God cannot heal amputees, since He could restore lost ears, and you are pandering about?
The earth is about 4 Billion years old.

Or, it could be that these stories were told at times when superstitious beliefs like sticks turning into snakes were rampant, so it wasn't so hard to sell the story of the dead coming back to life or a pool that instantly heals you if you are dipped in while the angels were stirring it.

Those weren't ordinary times, LMAO. People were civilized then. You modern people are so conceited that you think people were walking around half naked in caves and with little or no education. Most, if not all wonders of the world were made in biblical times. Great secular man were contemporaries of Jesus or existed before him, sir. As there were Legends and myths in those times that have proven false and no lasted the test of time.

God can heal amputees, infact the Bible records a time were Jesus refused to do a miracle in a certain place because of their unbelief. Herod requested a demonstration from Jesus but he didn't respond. The Jews did and he didn't.

The Lord God is Almighty, Sovereign in wisdom and understanding and you cannot put him in a box. The questions you all raise today are not new to Christianity. If only you all will sincerely open your hearts to truth.

what is the evidence that Jesus was born without fertilization?
Let's start from bottom-up. "If Jesus wasn't raised.." If Jesus had lived it wouldn't have mattered how he was born; this wasn't the dispute, many Jews infact, at the time, didn't know of his miraculous conception. If he hadn't resurrected from the dead is the question and all historical evidence (inside and outside the Bible) points to his life and death and his resurrection. You can do your research; it's not a legend at all as more evidence has proven his existence.

This is even the greatest miracle and the backbone of Christianity and not growing a limb or raising a dead to prove to some unbelievers that he exists.

Most illnesses are not humans fault but how nature works sir. There’s nothing supernatural about it

What I'm saying is that the inefficiencies (or otherwise) of medicine or medical treatment is mostly attributed to the individual. So going by what you said in a sense the individual can most likely be blamed for his failure to get treated.

His lifestyle, genetic make up, adherence to medical directives and so on.

Start with evidence for the existence of Jesus and His resurrection because like Paul said "If Christ wasn't raised then we are still in our sins; our faith is in vain and we of all men are the most to be pitied" (summary). So if you can prove that Christ was not raised from the dead then we would arguing about abortion and sexuality based on feelings and subjectivity and how we evolved from lower animals and how humans in Europe are "superior" to those in Africa.

Okay, so you who is patient in mind why can't God restore lost limbs and why is the so called miracles that god perform always something that can be faked.

If you think miracles are enough to convince or convict people of the truth, you ought ordinarily to be right but the Israelites in their day broke laws of God and commandments even when they saw the red Sea parted, saw all what God did to free them from slavery, even how he killed those who broke his law. Like Paul said, there is enough evidence in nature to prove the deity and eternal power of God. You all have no excuses.

You know even bible verses can be falsely used to argue against it and questions like yours have even led Xtains to fall away or create divisions amongst themselves.

Paul, a great apostle had a disciple whom he loved and treated like a son but he had a stomach problem and he advised him to take a little wine to treat his ailment. Paul did so much miracles, how ironic that an ordinary stomach ailment was elusive.

Luke, who wrote a gospel, a fascinating gospel of the life of Christ was a physician in his day.

God created food, medicine and the brain. Besides, the Bible is about 6000 years of record and miracles recorded are about 150 or so. Miracles weren't even witnessed by every generation and yes even the Bible alludes to faked miracles.

Some of the poorest people in Nigeria are either christians or Muslims.

But somehow u are still blaming the people for lack of miracles n not god

The Bible tells us God's gives kingdoms to whomever he will in the Book of Daniel. He gave to the wicked and evil rulers of the Chaldeans, to Assyria to Persia etc. Tithing is an old covenant law to the people of Israel; cheerful giving is the commandment to Christians today.

Even Jesus dissuaded a man from following him because of the laborous journey ahead. Another couldn't follow even if he did all that the law demanded because of riches.

You all don't read enough of the Bible but you already condemn it.

It's sad that you can't take the same approach to movies or society or a human life but you treat "what could be the truth" with so much levity and carelessness. Why?

Hmm! I don't think I'm having that, being that I am liberal myself, as in, in favour of the adult individual making their own choices.

If a man wants to cut off his dick and grow boobs, or a woman do the equivalent - cut off their boobs and grow a dick - please, what's my business in that? It's their body and their business. Besides, once you start dictating whether people can cut bits of their body or not or and attach bits to it that they want, it wouldn't take long for you to claim I must have certain thoughts and those thoughts only, and be telling me what to believe or not believe, and I wouldn't like that!

Liberalism gives the right to individuals to make the choices that best suit them. It is an ideology of self responsibility - you cut off your dick and the benefit, or dis-benefit is yours, and has nothing to do with a second or third party!

I do not agree that others should be ones keeper more than one is the keeper of oneself, provided one is deemed of sound mind and an adult.

A lot of people believe suicide is the best suited choice for them and the moment you make laws to make it illegal you have deprived them of the right to " personal liberty" and it wouldn't take long before you dictate what thoughts they have.
Religion / Re: What Do You Think Of The Transgender Argument? by Ehiscotch(m): 8:14pm On Dec 07, 2020

Suicide should be a major concern in any society, especially since the parents and siblings one leaves behind would be unhappy at their loss. If my child kills itself for instance, I do not think I'd be happy with the child for not coming to me with the problem it killed itself for and I'd wonder how bad a parent I must be for not being able to keep my child, whom I must have invested resources feeding, clothing and housing, alive. And as a policy maker, I do not think I'd be doing a good job if my citizens are killing themselves since it highlights my incompetence at creating conditions so they would rather live, which would eventually, likely, make me lose my income and job. I'm certain if I were an elected official and people under my jurisdiction were commiting suicide, you would not reelect me.

And this is why they should seek help instead of making an irrational decision to kill themselves. And as a parent, or a decision maker, I should teach people to be rational, I would think. But if they do decide to kill themselve, I guess I could section them into a mental facility so they can be overseen by professionals who would treat them and hopefully educate them on the irrationality of suicide. After all, the difficult mental and emotional phase that affects their decision making that they may be passing through may be a phase, as you said, which will soon pass away, so why pass away from a phase?

As a Liberal, don't you think you are depriving people of their right to take their own life?

I really like this question, but honestly, I wonder if folks can answer that.
I was born into Christianity and certainly could have left it (without any threat of death or violence) when I entered college.
However I, (after being unserious about Christanity throughout my childhood and college years), finally came to a point in my life (as a young adult) where I wanted to understand Who God the Creator was, and how to make Him real in my life. I was searching and God knew that..and at the right time drew me to a personal relationship with Him.
Now I, with all due respect, could never see myself in any other religion nor would I want to, because I have an inexplicable "peace".

how come you mirror my mind so much?

I became somewhat agnostic at a point, myself. You see indoctrination can barely make you a Christian; you have to develop a personal relationship with him to know him. You have to dig deep and wholeheartedly to experience him.

I thank God he found me and since then I have never had so much peace in my life.

I quite disagree. If you say it is true then you cannot accommodate fluctuations or relativity.

If it holds true that God does not exist it has to be consistent today, tomorrow and so on.

It's false to change positions on truth because you are a lawmaker or anything else.

Regardless of your permission or position it is wrong to take life.

Depends who you are I guess. Imagine running for governor of your state saying everyone has the right to terminate their life if they want to, would you vote for you? Would your parents vote for you if you say people can kill themselves if they want? Then consider how badly you must have run your state if elected and your state people start killing themselves.

My point is, as an individual, I don't particularly care if you grow boobs or cut off your dik or terminate your life even, but as a lawmaker, I'd regulate where you go to cut off your dik and grow on boobs for tax purposes at least, but I'd make it illegal for you to terminate your life because dead people do not pay tax.

Wow. So you don't believe in Truth(s) then; I guess for you it is a matter of perspective and position (situation)

Democrats politics is killing the sanity of this planet. That typical "Why not let anyone do whatever they want to do" it is absurd.

Why exactly do we have Law and Order.

Laws and Orders are not individually inclined, they are for collective societal good and continuation. But today, the left makes individualistic arguments that can only mar the human race.

Identity is never something someone inherits. It is psychological, mental. A neurological projection and can be informed by many things.

When someone who is factually male says he feels like female - I don't doubt that feeling but I understand that there is a problem and it shouldn't be denied.

Politics Will ruin this planet especially Liberal politics that is turning lunatic every passing day.

When identity is factually incorrect, its delusion.

If you walk into a clinic and say "I'm Muhammad Buhari" everyone agrees you have mental delusion.

Go to into the hospital and say "Doc I want you to amputate my perfectly healthy leg, I feel I'm an amputee so I want to amputate my leg to coincide with my feelings". The doctor would diagnose you of mental crase and put you under psychotic drugs.

But go into same hospital and say " Doc I need you to amputate my perfectly healthy genitaIia, I feel like I'm the opposite sex"

Liberal logic, that is not mental delusion grin

Fluctuations in dollar prices wouldn't have mattered if we weren't a consumer nation in the first place. It needs to stay low because of the high inflation rate, yes. But our GDP is low because we all our sectors are redundant and our oil sector was affected by the pandemic.

This should normally be bad news as a lower dollar to naira exchange rate encourages massive importation thus encouraging consumerism.

But since we want all the borders opened and 1 dollar to one naira; let's embrace importation of everything from pencil to toothpick because no manufacturing sector can compete locally and internationally.

I wish the dollar stays high but local production be ramped up to meet national demand and some products with which we have high comparative advantage (ability to massively supply) should be banned.
