Sydney17:In the bigger picture, the north sees Gej as an igbo man. |
when i hear that GEJ didn't do a thing in his constituency or state I ask myself: IS IT STATED IN THE CONSTITUTION THAT THE FUNCTION OF THE PRESIDENT IS TO CARRY OUT ROAD AND COMMUNITY PROJECTS? THEN I REALISE THAT WITH ALL THE CORRUPT PRACTICES OF HIS ADMINISTRATION; HE OUGHT TO HAVE DONE SO. |
How did GOODLUCK JONATHAN get voted in if indeed it is all about the number games? Yes, the number is also major factor; but if an igbo man with the right and proper mandate & bright ideas vies for presidency I'm positive he would be voted in. |

Amaechi hasn't learnt to separate politics from governance. |
Who be that Anita Joseph ? She ought to know she is doing more harm than good trying to pacify those people. It even seems to me that she is enjoying the mockery. What does she mean by " the picture will be taken down only if uche ogbodo says so" or maybe it is just me. |
The Ogun State governor, Ibikunle Amosun, has disowned an audio conversation circulating on social media purporting to be a phone call between him and his Borno State counterpart, Kashim Shettima. The 20-minute audio is alleged to contain the voices of the two governors, as they spoke on the current agitation for Biafra. Both governors allegedly said that different sections of the country, including the South East and South West, and north, should be free to go their separate ways. But in his reaction Monday, Mr. Amosun denied the conversation happened. A statement by the Ogun State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Dayo Adeneye, said the conversation was meant to create confusion. “The voice in the forgery which they paraded as that of Governor Amosun is not that of His Excellency and a simple search on the internet for any speech by him, would convince those who are not familiar with his voice that the producers of the audio recording did a poor and unintelligent imitation,” the statement said. “The peddlers of such falsehood appear to have a wild scheme which appears to be part of what may be turning out to be the wider script, by some unpatriotic elements, aimed at further causing divisions in Nigeria. “It is meant to feed into, as well as further exacerbate the already highly combustible wave of agitation in the land. This evil plot will not work. Indeed this is not the first time some unpatriotic and vile individuals would spread falsehood about the person of Governor Amosun,” the statement reads. The release emphasised that Mr. Amosun was committed to the peaceful co-existence of all groups in Nigeria and will not engage in conversations that would threaten the peace and unity of Nigeria. The Bayelsa government's false claims to transparency were punctured at the weekend following the federal government’s publication of the Paris Club refunds it disbursed to states in December 2016. While the Dickson-led administration had cooked up figures on a monthly basis, the federal government’s publication showed it received N24.89 billion, although it had declared N14.5bn. That means the government did not declare about N10.39bn to the people. The Bayelsa government figures have often had similar wide margins when compared with other sources. For instance, in 2015 figures of receipts by the state government stood at N105 bn whereas Dickson claimed to have received only N87 billion in 2015. Similarly, FAAC figures for 2016 indicated a disbursement of N99 billion but the state government owed its workforce for six months in 2016. In a similar pattern, the Dickson government under-declared its share of the first tranche of the N516.38 billion from the Paris Club debt refund, a development that clearly illustrates the lack of transparency of the current state government. The details of first tranche repayments of the refunds to the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory declared by the Federal Ministry of Finance at the weekend again highlights the inventiveness of the government. The published numbers clearly showed that Bayelsa got the sum of N24.89 billion as its allocation in the refund project. The figures accruing to other states are: Rivers, N34.92bn, Delta, N27.6bn, Akwa Ibom, N25.98bn, and Kano, N21.7bn. Salisu Dambatta, the Director of Information in the Ministry of Finance, had disclosed in a statement that the payments were made following the approval of President Muhammadu Buhari on November 12, 2016. On the contrary, the Bayelsa State government had declared in December 2016 that it got N14.5bn as its share of the debt reimbursement. Maxwell Ebibai, the Commissioner for Finance, announced the figure on December 8 while fielding questions from journalists at the premises of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly. Ebibai spoke with the reporters shortly after Mr. Dickson presented the 2017 Appropriation Bill of N221.280billion to the lawmakers for consideration and passage. As at December 2016 when the Federal Government released the first tranche of the refund, the Dickson administration was heavily indebted to civil servants. It was paying half salaries to the workers, with pensioners and local government council workers battling to survive nine and 12 months in unpaid pensions and wages, respectively. The government still owed six months’ salary arrears in 2016. Ebibai had stated that the state government would use 50 percent of the N14.5b to pay workers' salaries and pensions as directed by the Federal Government. "It is the instruction from the Governor (Seriake Dickson) to announce to the workers of the state, that we have just received N14.5bn as part of a refund from the Paris Club loan deductions,” he said, adding that Mr. Dickson specifically wants all workers to be aware of what was received. It turns out that declaration was a whopping N10.39bn distance from the truth. "However, in furtherance of that also, the governor has highlighted that 50 percent of that amount would be used to pay salaries and pensions of our workers," he said, meaning that about N7bn, less than was not being declared, would be used in that process. What is worse is that it was subsequently gathered that despite announcing receipt of 14.5bn, the state government did not remit the local government councils' share. It was not until March 2017 that it announced it had directed the release of N1.3bn from the figure for the councils after it became apparent that states which diverted the funds would not benefit from the second tranche. The directive to release the dues to the local councils only came after the Federal Government had announced its plan to release the second tranche to the states and the FCT. Sergeant Iboko, who killed one of the four armed robbers in the attack, suffered severe gunshot injuries and died the next day in a police clinic in Owerri after he was allegedly rejected at the Federal Medical Centre, Owerri. The Owerri branch of Nigerian Bar Association on Monday said that it would sue the Nigeria Police Force and Zenith Bank for allegedly abandoning the family of heroic Police Sergeant, Chukwudi Iboko, who died during the February 22, 2017, robbery which took place at the Wetheral Road branch of Zenith bank in Owerri, the Imo State capital. Sergeant Iboko, who killed one of the four armed robbers in the attack, suffered severe gunshot injuries and died the next day in a police clinic in Owerri after he was allegedly rejected at the Federal Medical Centre, Owerri. He had been praised by many Nigerians, leading to a massive campaign for raising fund by the Punch Newspaper and some social media activists for his family’s upkeep and to put his children back to school. Irked by the victim’s wife’s claim that both the Police and the Bank had abandoned her and her seven surviving children which was published in Sunday PUNCH, the Owerri Branch NBA Chairman, Lawrence Nwakaeti, said that it was a wicked act for the police and the Bank to have abandoned and neglected Iboko’s family. The legal practitioner said that his branch would have no option than to sue the police and bank to compel them to take full responsibility of the family of an officer who died in an active service while protecting the assets and customers of the Zenith Bank on the day of the incident. Nwakeati said, “It is the height of wickedness for the gallant policeman who died in the course of duty to be abandoned by the police which he served most meritoriously and gave his life as a result and the bank for whom he paid the Supreme price, to abandon the young family he left behind. “We demand that both the Nigeria Police Force as well as Zenith should take urgent steps towards the upkeep of the family left behind by the deceased police officer”. The Chairman said that the children of the hero police officer who had dropped out of school must be assisted by the police and the bank to return to and to assist his young widow. “The children he left behind who have dropped out of school must be assisted to return back to school. Their dreams must not be allowed to die just like that. It’s unfair. What message are we sending to our men and women in uniform who daily put their lives on the line so that others may be safe? “We owe those they leave behind a duty of care in the event of the unthinkable happening to them” According to him, “We hereby demand that the family of this fallen officer be made to feel less the death of their breadwinner”. Nwakaeti said that In the event that nothing happens in spite of the demand, the Association shall take up the issue and ensure that Justice comes the way of the grieving family. In NIGERIA something happens, there is reaction, then counter reactions, this leads to public reactions leading to a chain reaction until another reaction comes up to a different story. Fayose has just stated the obvious, our leaders need to be proactive. The herdsmen crises didnt start today, we just allowed it to fester and degenerate to this level. |
Wike needs to sit down and get some sense. Rivers is by far an unsafe state, with high proliferation of crime, cultism, militancy. Wike should focus on governance and stop playing games. HIGH EMPLOYMENT RATE =LOW CRIME RATE. |
