I'm sorry, but I believe you are woefully, mistaken.

Several factors, aside from the exchange rate, determine the potential value of used cars brought in from Overseas.

But don't take it from me, I may be perceived as bias in this case, afterall I am the one marketing the car.

First lets undertake a simple case study to establish the veracity of your claim, which is unrealistic, do a quick search on Iaai or Auto auctions in the US and search for a reasonable, salvage title 2008/9 Toyota Camry and find out how much it costs to "buy now". Keep that figure aside.

Thank God we are on Nairaland, create a tread/topic on Nairaland and ask 2 questions.

1. How much it used to cost to clear a 2008/2009 Toyota camry in June 2023? Keep whatever figure you get aside....

2. How much it costs to ship a car through a container from New Jersey to Apapa, lagos via Sallaum? You will get a figure in dollars, keep it aside.

Also, do a Google search and find out, how much was the exchange rate adopted by the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) in June of 2023 (Most people dont know that the exchange rate used by NCS is set by government & has nothing directly to do with the market rate).

Also undertake a simple google search and find out what percentage of the value of the car is paid as complete duty for a car in June 2023 (For reference as at December 2014, 70% of the estimated value (a value set by NCS) of the car plus other miscellaneous charge constitutes duty. That figure has currently being increased by over 350% so far, so essentially I am simply asking by what percentage it had been increased to by June 2023).

And finally, since we are using a Resonably salvaged car, add whatever estimated cost to fix that car & put it in perfect condition.

Check, convert & add all your figures let's see if its less than #3.9m or greater than it (since that is the value of the car you think it is)?

And show the whole world how greedy that I am in percentage

That refinery, as at when it was launched, reportedly cost $21billion dollars to build, dangote only put up $3billion, the rest was outsourced through foreign instruments/ loans.....

Which means in months to come, CBN must clear payments amounting to $18billion (interest not included, which are already accumulating as the refinery is already late by years on it initial projected kickoff date. 4 years late to be exact)....

So whatever benefit in FOREX you think it will bring in, will be used to clear whatever loans that set it up in the first place.....

Except Dangote is willing channel at least 90% of its product to supplying foreign customers and making them a priority over Nigeria, the refinery will just make the fall of the Naira faster......

As he will be paying CBN in Naira & CBN has to source dollars to clear the debt repayment.....

The only major potential benefit of the refinery at this stage is elimination of scarcity of product & fresh job opportunities in the oil & gas sector, other than that.......nothing ooooh.

Don't let politicians raise your hopes up & then shoot it down later when your eye don begin dey red

Reno unfortunately, in putting up this write up forgot one critical issue.

As at when the refinery was launched, it is on record that it cost dangote $21billion to build, dangote only put up $3billion, the remaining $18billion was acquired through loans.

That means in the next few years, CBN has to clear at least $18billion leaving our economy (interest not included).

So anyone thinking that just because the refinery is operational, mean huge forex coning in, isn't really thinking at all. If the loan was sourced locally, E for make sense....apparently it wasn't!

Follow Reno short sighted advise now & cry later.....
