Education / Re: Adewale Alao posted to Enugu for his NYSC now has a school in Enugu by EJIOGBENIMI(m): 10:11am On Mar 25, 2023
I’m just amazed how people keep twisting the narrative. Can Adewale Alao and his likes call Anambra a no man’s land? Can he vie for the position of governor in the state? And if he gather mind to do that, does he have any right to question the decision of Indigbo elders, which I know is to ensure that nobody votes him. The Abiola guy whose name was used as a case study before the election quickly debunked it and he affirmed to be a complete Ibeku man. He knows the consequences. He know Igbos don’t tolerate outsiders. He said his opponents were trying to use it against him. He simply distanced himself from being Yoruba and won his election.
Chinedu degraded our culture and traditions on live television, called our Royal father many derogatory names and called the Yoruba race Afonja. He even said that he doesn’t reason like a typical Yoruba man.
I blv that Tinubu that brought igbos into Lagos politics has seen the negative side of it. Lesson learnt.

I need some clarifications pls.
I’m using “pay as you go” card for gas, for the heating system and the kitchen in my apartment. I recharge about £250 monthly.
We are trying to cut costs, so we just bought 2 portable heaters, to heat up the rooms only, to supplement the gas. Our electricity bill is estimated bill, fixed at £105 per month.
We tend to use the portable heaters a lot.
I’m just wondering if we will be charged higher on our electricity. I’m getting conflicting responses from guys here. Some said that I’ll pay the excess at the end of the year while some said that I won’t.
2) I’ve been trying to buy car. I live in a suburb in the far northwest England, so I couldn’t explore much on fb marketplace and private sellers nearby.
Is it safe to buy on auto trader? How reliable are diesel cars? They seem to be cheaper.

I applied from my country of residence, in which tb test was not required at the time of application, but I'll be traveling from Nigeria.
Do I still need to do the TB test?

Hi please I have a job interview with the NHS and I’m so anxious and confused on how it will
Go, can I please send a PM
I don’t have access to this email.
I can understand how you feeling and It’s normal to feel that way.
You’ve scaled through the most difficult part. That’s being selected for the interview.
NHS interviews are structured and quite straightforward.
I attended 2 and I was successful in both.
The interview questions are usually structured into 4 parts:
1) “Run us through your resume” or whichever way they want to ask the same question.
Your knowledge about the Trust.
Trust values and your understanding of them. These are just random questions.
2) 1 or 2 Clinical scenarios or job-specific questions.
3) An ethical scenario, asking you ethical questions. They want to know how “safe” people are going to be, under your care.
4) They’ll conclude the interview by asking you if there’s anything you would like to know or ask them. They’ll also use the opportunity to tell you more about the role and person specification. Your interpersonal and communication skills would be put to test as well.
you can ask them any relevant general question and seek for clarification in the role, if any.
You can as well watch some relevant videos on YouTube, specifically for the role you applied for.
They won’t require much from you. Just demonstrate to them that you’ll be a safe and supportive employee.
If you require any further information, do not hesitate to quote me.
Good luck.

Obi will win, we have gone past that era of “obi cannot win” rhetorics
Southeast and South South would be shared by 4 political parties. Obi has good reputation in SE. APGA , APC and PDP have political office holders. APGA has a sitting Governor who is not supporing Obi. Obi himself knows the implications of not having some key political office holders like sitting governors around him.
Obi needs nothern votes than he needs SE/SS. What we call a block vote in the entire SE may not even be up to a senatorial district in Kano or Borno.

Please I want to ask if a misrepresentation ( marital status ) in my USA visa application few years ago affects my UK skilled worker visa now . In my USA visa application my agent filled married for me of which I was not married then but in my UK application now I filled single because the truth is I'm still single . I was refused a us visa then and I disclosed it in my UK Visa application now . Does this affect me in anyway ?
I don't think this should affect you. You do not need to worry about this.

My wife's COS took 2 months plus before she got it and when it was assigned the employer still delayed before issuing it. So patience is all you need. Lol
Here's my own timeline:
I had my interview on 3 Nov. offer of employment on 6 Nov. Submitted police character on 15th, my references responded around same period. They sent a mail to confirm that they will proceed to apply for my cos on 16th (I had to call her to remind her about the maintenance). COS was issued and sent to me on Friday 18 November.

Peter Obi is the man a hundred Soludo's can never be.

How are the schools for the kids? I'm coming 3kids, Age 3-8.
I'll be working in the NHS, any opportunity for Locum around?.

Good day Sir/Ma
An application for a visa is to be done, not earlier than 3 months prior to intended date of arrival to the UK.
But your worries at this point, should be, if your work place is not able to afford a day for biometrics, would they be able to afford/approve you a leave for periods from 30.06.2022 to 26.07.2022 considering you have perhaps taken your yearly leave at this time.
These are some questions you may need to start getting sorted as in anticipation for a renewal at a later time to demonstrate to the VO that you have leave to be away for the periods you would state.
But, and then if you won't have a leave, seriously, you must have to start to consider the extension thingy and do an extensive research of how to achieve that. That, I unfortunately, i have no enough knowledge on about. But again if i said don't go for that, is from my personal view of things and should please not alter your best option..
Again, wish you the best of your career in the UK

Thank you.
I don't have problem with getting another leave for my trip. I will receive the necessary support from my employer. I run a rotation of 60days (work)/28 days(off) I can be flexible if the need arises. The problem is that I can't demobilise for just a day and get re-mobilised immediately as I have to be quarantined for 10 days and some other logistic challenges (a replacement Doctor has to go through quarantine for 10 days and work for 11 days, just to cover for me for a day leave).
I think it's safe to apply and go for the biometric in the first week of May.
Thank you.

Now you got your visa, you should have some certainty that you are on track.

Again do you need the stress of worrying if/if not you would get a response within 2 weeks when you should be focused on preps for the exams with less stress?
And if you get a response after 2 months, you want to start explaining that on your CV to the gmc reason for the medical gap when applying to to get a license or jobs? Though, that is somehow of a reasonable reason, that you took the medical gap becasue you where in the UK and all the grounds you may/would have to bolster your case; but then, think about it this way, that you would have probably been better off still earning some incomes(during that medical gap) back in Dubai and have less about to explain in your CV in the future.

My knowledge about an extension is shallow, then few cases i know, wasn't in applicant's favour. And this sincerely is no intent to scare.
All options are yours to tick and rule out, you understand your circumstances better and would do the best in your interest.

Good day Sir/ma, thank you for your previous advises.
Please when is the earliest time I can apply for another visa?
My proposed travel date is 30 June and I plan to return on 26 July ( current visa will expire on 3 July).
My work schedule(offshore) does not permit me to go for biometric and return at will due to some precautionary measures.
I will have to be away from work when I am apply, do biometric and wait to pick up my passport before returning to work.
The earliest I can do this, the better for me(I am still away from work till February because I was not able to cancel the leave that I took earlier).

It's very unfortunate situation you found yourself.

I think you should apply for a new visa 2 months before the current visa expires and state the reason for your application and date for your exam. If you have money, you can apply for 2years visa in your next application to avoid all these stress of visa applications. You should get it.

All the best in your exam.
Well noted and thank you for your best wishes.

In my experience with visa extensions (US), you will have your passport with you throughout the process, when your extension is approved you will just get a letter and not a new sticker. I will recommend you travel and extend your visa but that's my personal opinion.

EJIOGBENIMI:
Good day everyone. please I need advice on my visa application and my visit to the UK.

I did my biometrics for a 6 months visit visa on 29 November (standard application) in Dubai. The reason for my visit is to write an exam (plab2) in January.

Unfortunately, all the candidates writing the exam in January and February have been directed to cancel their bookings. we were advised to book for later dates which is from July onward. I cancelled and I booked the exam for July.
My initial plan was to enter the UK on 10th January. Although, I haven't received the visa yet.
my concerns are:
1) Do i need to take any action as per the visa?
2) Do I still stand a chance to get the visa?, even if they find out that my exam, which was the reason for the application has been cancelled. Although, I have a new date, which is July?
3) If the visa is approved, it'll likely be expired before my exam date, should I notify them before travelling for the exam or I should travel first, then request for an extension, once i land in the UK?.
I have the mail from the GMC, directing all candidates in jan&feb to cancel. I also have the mail for the confirmation of my new date.

Good day everyone and thank you for the great job you're doing here.

So I received my visit visa on 3/01/2022. My visa would be valid until 03/07/2022.
Here is my concern. My new plab2 test date is 21/07/2022. so, the current visa will no longer be valid. I plan to be in the UK before the end of June.

Should I apply for a new visa? (I don't even know if it's possible to apply for a new visit visa when you have an existing one) If yes, when would you advise me to do that, given the current delay and uncertainty).
I'll be needing my passport on the test date. If I will be extending the visa over there, the process must be concluded and I must receive my passport before the test date. Is this possible in 2 weeks?
Thank you.

leef2022:

congratulations Dr on your journey so far in your career road to the UK.
I understand the anxiety and ginger you have at the moment to get through the next hurdle and get closer to being on the NHS pay roll, Thus these are my opinions:

Per the visa application? do nothing, wait for a decision, a decision may come such at a later time after your intended date of arrival in the UK, such that, your visa goes on to be valid to the date when you want to take your exams. Per what action you can do, you can only apply for a withdrawal at this time which would mean you don't get a refund of your visa application fee and the visa process is terminated. But the question that begs as to this action is; why would you want such an action and truncate the process that could go for or against you.

Chances of getting the visa is 50-50. If you applied for a UKVI visa(i.e one for plab candidates which i am aware of such existence , then the VO would put this into consideration when making a decision on your visa application and as such may deny you the visa if he/she is aware that the exams has been postponed for further dates. However if you had applied for a standard visitor visa(which some candidates also use to come take the exams), then the events of the exams postponement has little or no effect on your application and as such you would get a decision as on the merit of your application.

The third option is one I would strongly advise you don't thread. Visa extensions are complex and mostly options for a life or death and emergency cases( taking a Plab 2 exam i do not think falls to a life or death scenario or an emergency case) as such you may not have your visa extended or approved, and if at that time you had overstayed your visit, it would mean that in an event you pass the plab 2, you would have future problems with your immigration status and as such may find it difficult to find a hospital that would be willing to offer you an employment within the UK. Not to mention the cost of visa extension out budgets that of re-applying at a later time and mind you the ONUS of having a visa extension out weights that of obtaining a visa.

Single best and appropriate management of your case is to re-assure yourself of the process and do nothing at this time. I understand that in an event you are unable to make it for the exams due to no visa you stand the chance of loosing 835 pounds you had paid for plab 2 , but it is also my understanding and experience that if at a later time you write to GMC on time before your exams date about a visa problem you would get a refund or an option to choose a later date pending when you have a visa, hence most likely your case may not be treated as one needful of visa extension.

Thank you, wishing you a happy and prosperous career in the UK in the future

Thank you very much for your response. You're so kind.
I'll share your advice with colleagues with similar concern.
Thank you.

I did apply to lots of openings so a "NO" coming from some of them means nothing to me. I sometimes acknowledge their 'no' response and thank them for making out time to read through my application.
I used to do this because many of the employers do not even respond to the application, making applicants to keep hoping.
