BY IFEANYI OKOLIE LAGOS — Notorious robbery czar, Abiodun Ogunjobi, aka Godogodo, who was arrested recently in Lagos State, is currently telling the police how he coordinated some of his operations within Lagos and some South-Western states. Vanguard gathered that the 36-year-old native of Ogun State confessed to some high profile deadly robbery operations within Victoria Island, Lekki and Ajah axis of state. Abiodun Ogunjobi Abiodun Ogunjobi Police sources told Vanguard that Godogodo has also confessed to the gruesome killing of four officials of the Department of State Services, DSS, whom he met at Alpha Beach Hotel located around Lekki area of the state in August 2012. Vanguard learnt that Godogodo, who was discharged from the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, LASUTH, where he received treatments from bullet wounds sustained during his arrest, weekend, told his interrogators, at the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, that he was left with no option than to kill the DSS operatives who he said posed immense danger to his operation in the hotel. A source who craved anonymity said: “Godogodo told us that he didn’t know that the people he killed at Alpha Beach Hotel were DSS officials. “He said a member of his gang he identified as Yinusa, told him that some policemen who were lodged in one of the hotel rooms had a fisticuff with a member of his gang and when he went to the room, he said he opened fire on everybody to prevent the police from attacking him.” Vanguard further gathered that the Lagos State office of the DSS is preparing to liaise with the Lagos State police command to prosecute Godogodo. Meantime, euphoria was high in SARS detention cell when Godogodo was brought in from LASUTH. Sources told Vanguard that other robbery suspects detained in the cells chanted Godogodo’s name as he was led into his cell. It was also gathered that the cell marshal where Godogodo was detained relinquished his position as the head of the cell immediately he stepped in there. It was also gathered that the breakthrough that led to Godogodo’s arrest came after a three-week intensive search for the bandit in Ibadan, Oyo State. Vanguard gathered that the officer in charge of SARS, Lagos, Abba Kyari, re-inforced the search for him few days after the gruesome murder of the owner of 04 Hotel in Ajah and six others. The search for Godogodo had been on in Lagos and the South-West for close to two decades. The policemen were already getting weary until the O4 hotel incident rejuvenated the search. . Sources told Vanguard that Kyari intercepted information linking Godogodo to Ibandan and he was able to arrest a close member of his family who led police to his mansion at Olowu, Egbeda area of Ibandan. - Source: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/08/why-i-killed-dss-officials-godogodo/#sthash.arvm5tFO.dpuf

Some shocking discoveries have been made in Maiduguri, the beleaguered Borno State capital that is the engine -room of the Boko Haram insurgency. The Joint Task Force (JTF), Operation Restore Order II, found mass graves, tunnels and bunkers in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital. JTF spokesman Lt.-Col. Sagir Musa showed reporters shallow graves, tunnels and bunkers at Bulabulin Nganaram yesterday. He said Boko Haram men who died in gun battles with security troops were buried in the graves. Around the shallow graves in the open field were decomposing bodies and human bones. There was a big bunker where the JTF said it discovered a cache of weapons. The bunker, according to the JTF, was dug behind a two-bedroom apartment, making residents to believe it was a sewage pit. There were also tuunels, which are believed to have served as passage for the insurgents from their hideouts. Bulabulin Nganaram is believed to be the main stronghold of the insurgents. The JTF, in a statement by Col Musa, said: “The Joint Task Force (JTF) between 3-8 July, 2013 dislodged Boko Haram terrorists from their main enclave in Bulabulin Nganaram, Aljajeri and Faluja areas of Maiduguri metropolis. “During the encounter, some terrorists were killed in the fire fight, including the main Amir of Bulabulin Nganaram (who was on the wanted list of the JTF with a ten million naira bounty). He was responsible for the killing of a teacher and three students of Sanda Karami Secondary School, Ruwan Zafi Maiduguri. Many abducted women, girls and children were rescued and handed over to their families by the Task Force. “During the search of the areas, many arms and ammunition of various calibres buried in houses and cemeteries were recovered. Decomposing corpses of those killed by the terrorists were also found in soak-away and mass graves of terrorists killed. Troops also discovered vast network mouse-holes linking compounds and underground tunnels as well as bunkers under houses. Troops are still searching the area for more weapons, ammunition and mass graves. The JTF uses this opportunity to appeal to members of the public for support and more information on terrorists’ activities.” Despite Boko Haram leader Imam Shekau’s denial, the Committee on Dialogue and Peaceful Resolution of Security Challenges in the North insisted yesterday that the ceasefire negotiation with the sect is still on course. The committee said Nigerians should expect “something positive” before the end of the week. It, however, said it would not take up issues with Shekau in order not to lose focus. A member of the committee, who spoke in confidence with our correspondent, insisted that the committee had made progress in its negotiation with Boko Haram. The source said: “The ceasefire negotiation is still on course; there is no going back. Before the end of the week, something positive will come up that will vindicate our claim that we are negotiating. “We do not want to counter what Imam Shekau said, but before the end of the week, there will be something positive.” Asked to clear the air on Shekau’s denial of ceasefire, the source said: “We doubt indeed if Shekau made that statement. And if he did, we are raising these issues: Do they know Mohammed Marwana or not who was the person we met with? Has anyone come out to say that Marwana is not a member of Boko Haram? Has anyone disputed the position of the Deputy Leader of Boko Haram which Marwana claimed he is occupying?” The source stressed that neither the Chairman of the committee nor any of its members said they met Shekau. “We had talks with Marwana, who represented the group,” he said, adding: “The Boko Haram leadership up till now has not disowned Marwana, who also defended the sect last week that it was not behind the killing of 36 students in a secondary school in Mamudo in Yobe State. Marawana told us that Boko Haram members were not behind the gruesome killings. The sect has also corroborated Marwana’s position. “If Marwana is not a member or one of the leaders of the sect, Boko Haram leadership would have disowned him by now. In March, one Abdulazeez said he was speaking for Boko Haram and his claim was swiftly dismissed. “So, we will not take up issues with Shekau because if we do, we will now leave substance and begin to chase the shadow. “We do not want anything that could derail our ongoing talks with Boko Haram.” On the claim by the Defence Headquarters that it was not involved in ceasefire negotiation, the source said it was not yet time for Defence to be involved. “This committee does not report to the Chief of Defence Staff or any of the service chiefs. We are expected to report to the President and Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, who will then decide on how the military and other security agencies should be involved,” the source said. http://thenationonlineng.net/new/news/jtf-finds-boko-haram-arms-graves-bunker-and-tunnels/ |
about 1 day THE police in Edo State, Saturday, confirmed the arrest of a young man, Endurance Enadeba, alleged to have killed his wife, Osarumwense, over a row on when to breast- feed their barely one-week-old twins. The couple were, Friday night, preparing for their twins’ naming ceremony, expected to have held Sunday. But the woman was killed after an argument on when the woman should feed the babies ensued. Endurance allegedly hit his wife on the head with an object, resulting in her death. An eyewitness said the husband had asked the wife to breastfeed the babies who had been crying but the woman allegedly insisted that she would first visit the lavatory to urinate. The husband was said to have followed the woman to the spot where a fracas ensued. The father of the deceased, who gave his name as Eghenayayore, was seen weeping and cursing profusely over the corpse. He said that his daughter had called to inform him about the incident but died before she could be rushed to the hospital. Eghenayayore said the husband fled after the wife collapsed. “He killed my daughter because of breastfeeding of the twins. The twins are at home now, who will give them milk? Why did he kill my young daughter? This girl was born in 1996. We were preparing to name the babies tomorrow because it was their first birth.” Police spokesman, DSP Moses Eguavoen, confirmed the incident, adding that the man has been arrested. [quote author=Leebeedo]Nigeria is doomed! I live and work in Lafia and I want to give u guys a full gist of what really happened. Everything boils down to 2015 gubernatorial race. The Egon people said they are tired of been ruled by foreigners (i.e migrants from Maiduguri) which the current governor Umaru Tanko Almakura and the emir of Lafia are and so they’ve started preparing for 2015 elections. The militia group actually recruited youths but they never did it forcefully, Egon youths voluntarily enlisted themselves because we never heard of such occurrence @ the church (Egons are predominantly Christians, say 98%). Sometimes, we see the militia group matching around Lafia peacefully with their black uniform not disturbing anyone or causing mayhem and even sometimes, we see their leader drive around his SUV robed with all sort of charms and we laughed. The governor got scared because of the growing strength of the militia and even attacked them severally through Fulani herdsmen, they even killed a Fulani herdsman close to my house early this year. The governor’s second shot was through the emir. He invited the chief priest to his palace and tried to charm him but the chief priest defeated him and it was even rumoured that the emir was dead that period. (RUMOUR) Discovering that he couldn’t succeed with his Fulani herdsmen and the emir strategy, he decided to use the police, SSS and civil defence guys through the commissioner of police, one stupid Yoruba man that doesn’t know his job and really good at driving around Lafia with his dead BMW disturbing with siren sound. The commissioner fell for it and he sent his boys to arrest the chief priest of the militia. They claim to have gone there peacefully to arrest him, but ask why they went with machine guns. The killed some of the militia guys but the militia wiped them all, just about 6 of them escaped. I don’t think the militia group used guns because I went to the hospital where they deposited their remains (Dalahatu Specialist Hospital at Shendam road) and I saw deep cutlass cuts on them and I also saw stuffs like blue powder on them, they were burnt and were over 100 in number. Immediately this happened, the governor ran to Abuja and later ran to kano probably to meet with the emir. The commissioner cried all through but many don’t know why he cried. It’s because he’s to retire in 2 months’ time but now will likely face dismissal. The candidate egons want to put forward is Solomon Ewugha (not sure of the spelling) [/quote Nice update, |
