anonimi: Thanks a lot for confirming what olaezebala said that Aregberascal borrowed 100billion to shore up the federal allocation.
Again, who loaned Osun state N100 billion? You?

Osun devotes 65% of budget to capital projects.

Sixty-five per cent of the N183.1bn budget of the Osun State Government for this year has been devoted to capital expenditure in order to accelerate the development of key infrastructure in the state.

This means that N119.07bn will be spent on such infrastructure as roads, housing, town and country planning, water provision, environmental sanitation, education, health and social and youth development.

Giving a breakdown of the budget at a press briefing in Lagos on Friday, the Commissioner for Finance, Economic Planning and Budget, Dr. Wale Bolorunduro, and his Regional Integration and Special Duties counterpart, Mr. Ajibola Basiru, said having recorded appreciable success in its agricultural production programme in the last fiscal year, the government had now shifted attention to infrastructure provision.

According to Bolorunduro, the emphasis on capital expenditure at the expense of recurrent expenditure is in line with Governor Rauf Aregbesola’s resolve to make life more meaningful for the citizens by giving them good social infrastructure.

The allocation of the 2013 budget is an improvement on the 58 per cent of the total devoted to capital expenditure and 42 per cent to recurrent expenditure last year. http://www.punchng.com/business/money/osun-devotes-65-of-budget-to-capital-projects/
You see that? Out of the N183 billion, N119 billion is for capital projects and that's 58% of the total budget so keep banging your head on the wall and asking yourself how they are able to do what they are doing.

For you ignorants, it's called prudence and sound sense of porpose

saheedonifade: is that the priority of this poor state
Budgets for 2013

Osun state = N183 billoon

Anambra state = N110 billion

Abia state = N137 billion

Enugu state = N83 billion

Ebonyi state = N104 billion

So who is really poor and what do you know about priority?

Ignorant people....

So you are just blabbing over the project and cost, but you know nothing about the project and cost?

Why should you be takeen seriously even considering the fact that you care less about the N5 billion the previous PDP administration spent on a ghost airport with no result...

CyberG: Everyone knows you are a RACIST & TRIBALIST! How can it be a waste when a dime of your entire generation is neither required or needed in the project! Or, must they be crying like you ibo people for the FG to come and do everything for them including wiping their ass? When will we read anything positive being done in your village enclaves and in your home state? Or, are they all amputees in the SE that they cannot function without the West and handouts from the rest of Nigeria? The only important thing for me is that the airport be completed for it will be an investment, even if it doesn't get a lot of traffic yet but it surely will in time! With Ibadan being the second most populated city in Nigeria, add to that businesses and development in that area, they might just do well enough. Regardless, in as much as they can pull it off with their revenue and allocations without a huge debt, that is fine and dandy.

Afam, resign your moderatorship of this forum for you are a compromised tribalist with no moral rights to do this job. Go and face your derelict tribal forum with no members and your N 1,000 domain re-seller business. Better, move away from the SW because you are bringing bad karma to that area. You are needed in your iboland for development and losers like you are not wanted!!

misterh: Are you done? I talked about scale of preference. Tell me how the airport will be of benefit to Osun state. I made my comment based on what the op posted, i did not have to go look for outside sources before i make my comment on NL. Apart from Osogbo, tell me which other town in Osun state that engages in Rigorous economic activites. Is it Gbongan or Ede or Iree or Edun-Abon or Sekona. I don't know who is ignorant between you and i when i said that majority of the people in towns in Osun state are low income earners? D'you consider that arrogant? If not for OAU, Ife would have been just one of those towns. I still maintain my point when i said that the fund meant for such capital intensive venture can be better utilised for other ventures. Remember that Osun state's federal allocation is low and the IGR is not so encouraging.

PS: i don't entertain the use of abusive words on me.
Osun cargo airport, which is currently being jointly built by the Nigerian Air force engineers and the Nigerian Army.
You spew ignorance everytime you open your mouth.

Reading is very foundamental....
PoliticsRe: Osun Names Airport After Abiola by ekoilee: 1:33pm On May 03, 2013
misterh: But I did not see where the op typed that it was a cargo airport.
Common sense and prudence dictates that you at least have some credible knowledge about the issue you are discussing instead of blaming your own ignorance on other people.

Take responsibility for your own ignorance and lack of intellectual curiosity.

Too bad you did not read about this airport because you missed a thing or 2 about your country's history or the historical origin of this historic airport.

Furthermore, instead of using outside contractors, the state engaged the Nigerian Air force engineers and the Nigerian Army to construct the airport and also to be managed by the Nigerian Airforce.

According to the Nigerian Tribune’s investigations, the biggest ongoing construction project is the proposed Osun cargo airport, which is currently being jointly built by the Nigerian Air force engineers and the Nigerian Army, Ede.

The site of the cargo airport in Osogbo, was not without history as according to the Commissioner for Finance and Strategic planning, Wale Bolorunduro. The airstrip, built in 1939, by British engineers, was the first in West Africa to be used to airlift soldiers back then.

He said that the land where the airstrip was sited and which is to be used for the proposed cargo airport, which was claimed would be completed this year, had only recently been returned to the state by the Federal Government by the last administration. He stressed that the airport, when completed, would contain hangars to be maintained by the Nigerian Air force, while other commercial hangars would be built and rented out to private aeroplane owners.

The Finance Commissioner said that the airport, when completed, would also help open up the state making it easy for finished goods to be airlifted to the state and raw materials from the state, especially agricultural produce from the state to Lagos and environs.

PoliticsRe: Osun Names Airport After Abiola by ekoilee: 12:19pm On May 03, 2013
misterh: This is not about remaining stagnant. It's called scale of preference in basic economics. There are better issues to contend with. The capital city, Osogbo is the only place where enough economic activities take place. Others are just small towns where majority of the people there are low income earners. It's not to bulid airports but will airlines patronise your airport?
Unfortunately for you, this is a cargo airport. You people really should try to read up on issues before commenting.
PoliticsRe: Osun Names Airport After Abiola by ekoilee: 12:16pm On May 03, 2013
Afam4eva: Why not complete it first before naming it after someone. And what does Osun even need an airport for. What a waste.
It's a cargo airport for transportation of farm produce and equipment to and from the stage to markets all over the country.

Osun is an agric state and they sure need every mode of transportation to evacuate their products and bring in supplies.

Once again, you put ignorance before common sense....

You Yoruba folks need to leave Lagos and the SW region to realize that Lagos is not the only place where there is a large population of non-indigenes especially Igbo people. You go to Abuja, Kaduna, Kano, PortHarcourt, Sokoto, Zamfara, Uyo, Calabar there is a large population of both Igbos and other southern tribes, I don't know why you lot seem to think it is only in Lagos that people go to or only Lagos has a lot of non-indigenes. . .lol. Abeg comot for that Lagos waka small.
Going by your peoples claim about your population in Lagos, there are more ibo people in Lagos than the entire population of Akwa Ibom?

You people obviously love to fool and deceive yourselves sha.

Its a sad shame that you people can not hold up any of your any of your states or your leaders and you have to always go to Akwa ibom of all places for reference when talking about lagos as if your own land doesn't exist in Nigeria. A glorified village that's 50 years behind lagos....smh

Is Akwa ibom iboland?

This clearly highlights your problem, your leadership failure and lack of importance and relevance in today's Nigeria.

Ricky_Ross: When GEJ was governor I did not care to take note of his achievements as a governor and I have never had interest in that state to start with. But dont make it sound as if he did nothing throughout his stay in that government house bc it will only make you look bad.

We are talking about the present and not the past. So far, GEJ has commissioned far more projects than any other Nigerian president. So far the records show GEJ is the best Nigerian president ever. GEJ is working while you and your e-warriors are tweeting and ranting. U cannot stop GEJ from winning the next general elections. We the citizens of Nigeria will decide, we will access GEJ achievements during that time, then we will compare and contrasts.

Back to topic, I am not blind and mischievous like you ACN thugs, I praise people that are praise worthy. Fashola is trying no doubt but he is over hyped. If a PDP governor made this same announcement without commissioning the project I know you would be the first to start name calling. But right now it is ACN and Fashola and you must defend him with your last blood. DONT GET MARRIED, KEEP WASTING 95% OF YOUR TIME ON NAIRALAND WHILE YOUR AGE MATES ARE GETTING MARRIED AND HAVING CHILDREN. There is life after nairaland my friend.
Answering my question would have sufficed instead of your redundant and irrelevant essay.....

You don't even have to be alive when he was a governor just like fashola, Google his achievement and post it here...

You can not answer because the man was incompetent as a governor and as the president of Nigeria

naptu2: Now, since we've now got the three route entrance/exit points that I dreamt about and now that the ferry system is up and running, it's time to examine my wish list for my Lekki.

1) The Green Line: This is my main wish. I can barely wait for it to be built.

2) The return of the TUC BRT buses: The TUC buses made everything simple and easy. They were hundreds of times better than the LagBus system. I wonder why they stopped operating. (I would have preferred the segregated system, rather than the priority system).

3) Eko Water Buses: Tarzan has started using the new boats. SeaCat should follow suit.

4) Expansion of the Ajah-Langbasa Road and construction of the Fourth Mainland Bridge.
Amen.

Even with all the odds, bad bele distractions and needless blockings in a hostile environment, we are doing great and achieving a lot.

Metro Rail is around the corner, lekki airport is in the near horizon and Ropeways is still coming to add cable cars? We are set..

This is a brilliant multi faceted approach and we are seeing the results in our lifetime just between 2 administrations and I don't see any end or shortage of vision, dedication and will to aim for any goal.

eaglechild: No
It means that it pays its tax to Lagos state govt, and cannot berth in Lagos Lagoon without the knowledge an approval of the Lagos state govt an the relevant national parastatals.
Remember this is a hotel not a cargo ship.
Therefore it is utter failure for the Lagos state govt to say that a ship registered under it's agency as a hotel has disappeared without any trace and they know NOTHING about it.
Again, what if the owners have fulfilled all their tax obligations, are they still not allowed to do what they want with their boat and should the state prevent them from doing so.?

eaglechild: A yatch hotel that is registered under the Lagos state tourism board and has been paying its taxes to that state govt just disappears into thin air, only for the commissioner for tourism to say he cannot categorically tell us when or where the hotel disappeared to?
This cannot happen anywhere else for very simple reasons, one of the most obvious is that the yatch hotel must be certified to have paid all its taxes before it is allowed to sail away.
Even going with your ridiculous tax claims, are you sure the owners didn't fulfil their tax obligations and even whats the tax obligation on a non functional and broken down boat?
PoliticsRe: Controversial N4.5billion Yatch Hotel Disappears From Lagos. by ekoilee: 7:21pm On Apr 30, 2013

And this means the boat is not a private property and the owners can not do what they want with their property?

I still need you to tell me who is in monitors Nigeria's territorial waters and who fights contraband and drugs.
PoliticsRe: Governor Fashola Builds First Suspension Bridge In Nigeria by ekoilee: 6:51pm On Apr 30, 2013
JustEmmy: This bridge in question is a cable-stay bridge, which is a modern type and improved form of suspension bridges. Older suspension bridges had two towers or pylons but cable stay bridges have one pylon from where cables descend to carry the deck. What is not in doubt is that a very good and modern bridge has been built. And the cable-stayed section did not have to cover the entire length, just the required section for whatever reason that necessitated it.
Well said..
