kross_01: ekoilee called me ignorant for disputing this as a suspension bridge even with all the columns from the water carrying the load.please which part of the deck are the cables suspending? I rest my case.
What about the the pics of suspension bridge with columns all over like like the one in Canada up there?

You are arguing over deigns and not what is or not a suspension bridge.

Don't feed me your opinion, I prefer you come up with your own definition for suspension bridge..

Goddex: Fashola owns that yacht. Funny how ACN peeps on nairaland claim ignorance when it's common knowledge. Shame on the tourism commissioner for lying to Nigerians.
When you spew what is not true and can not back up with facts and documents, its not knowledge, its lack of knowledge aka ignorance...

eaglechild: Don't be senseless
A ship is not a box of sweets.
A vessel like that is capable of smuggling contraband items including arms etc, so for you to label it private property and then deem it fit to come and go as it pleases is ridiculous!
Whenever it has to do with Lagos state you become blind to reality.
Eko oni baje my azz.
Still, what's this got to do with you since this is clearly a private property?

And if the owners are into contraband, then its up to the people in charge of our territorial waters and drug enforcement to lose sleep over it.

kross_01: with all due respect sir, all through the length of the bridge in the pix u posted that spanned across the water, did you see any column(s) supporting the bridge asides the column handling the suspension cables?
What I posted clearly says suspension bridge so don't bother me with your ignorance and inability to read...

There are other bridges posted with single column and columns doesn't determine anything...

What is your definition of suspension bridge anyway?

Ricky_Ross: Guy I will advise u go check your BP, the way you shiver at the mention of GEJ name is alarming. OBJ misruled Nigeria for 8 years and you didnt say anything. GEJ is under 4 yrs and you are already crying fowl.

So far, GEJ is the best Nigerian president ever. No other Nigerian president has ever delivered so much projects under 3 years. I know bc I just left Nigeria last month. No matter how you rant online, GEJ will rule Nigeria beyond 2015. GEJ is not arrogant like OBJ and the rest, he is cool headed and doesn't make noise. We know the empty vessels makes the most noise. If GEJ decides to contests the next general election, he will win by a BIG margin and there is nothing you can do about it other than ranting on nairaland.
I'll Ignore the rest of your Reterdeen nonsense and even if you label him the president in the world, you are allowed that level of stupidity, ignorance and delusions, but ill ask you just one question...

GEJ was a governor like fashola, so please show us one single thing the dullard archived as a governor, ill take even a dog cage if he built one...?

Billyonaire: Its NOT Fashola or Lagos State project. The Lekki Bridge is a PPP project financed by a private company.
The sum of N10 billion has been released by the Lagos State Government to bigwig construction outfit, Messrs. Julius Berger Plc, towards the excution of two major infrastructure development projects in the bustling city.

The projects include the expansion of the Eric Moore-Mile 2 Road (which is the initial leg of the multi-billion-naira, multi-phase Lagos-Badagry Expressway rehabilitation scheme) as well as the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge (connecting Lekki Peninsular Scheme I with Osborne Road in Ikoyi).

crisycent: The person that posted this does not know the meaning of a SUSPENSION BRIDGE. From the pictures, this is just a regular bridge like the 3rd mainland and it has a suspension bridge design. Fact is that the so called iron/poles/ropes locking on the concrete bribge is just fashion, it is not holding or stabilizing the bridge in any way!!!!
its a cable stay bridge which is another form of suspension and the cables are not there for fashion, the cables are integral part of the structure..

That was ignorance on your part...

The only problem with your rubbish is GEJ can not make such pronouncement simply because he's too dull and incompetent, and he has no vision so its very impossible.

GEJ used to be a governor like fashola and he did not build a single bird cage so how is going to build buses?

When will you peeps learn that, only people who live in a city can make conclusions about those cities? Texas.cowgirl, you don't even live in Nigeria, yet you will take your time (which you could have used for more constructive things) to search for some ridiculous and mostly old pictures on the internet. for what exactly? To prove what? We all need to start thinking right! If Nigerians think they are alright, then live it that way, and stop meddling.

eko-ile, this post is very ridiculous. If anyone should start any post of this kind, it should be an abuja resident...who knows the recent happenings and not you posting different angles of the same camera. how ridiculous can you get? I wonder what some Nairalanders derive from all this shii. I visit lagos so well (official purposes), I know things that are not right, i know the media propaganda, i know Lagos. But what you will never see me do is bash Lagos or any other place for that matter. If Lagos residents say everything is alright, who am i to say NO?

If Abuja residents say everything is fine, who is eko-ile to say NO?

Okija_juju: This thread is a joke best suited for a beer palour.. I jumped in hoping to see something and ended up disappointed. 1 camera pole that was obviously brought down as a result of an accident is what the OP is calling the entire CCTV programme as packed up.. Its like entering a road with many streetlights only to find one that is bad and then photograph it and call the entire street as having no streetlights..

This is very sad the extent Nigerians would go to rubbish their own.

The Mod that put this uselss thread on the frontpage is just as much a person as the OP.
You cassava bread heads say the most dumbest things, it's like you people are headless zombies with no brains... The house is currently probing this contract based on the quality of materials and workmanship delivered to your country.

What do you really expect to happen with low quality materials and lousy job? The end product falls appart like a freeking pack of cards and that's what we are seeing.

Quality materials are tested to go against wind and other acts of nature and it doesn't even matter how many is destroyed or working, facts remains that we bought sub standard CCTV system and on top of that, the corrupt morons in ABUJA signed some mind buggling contract they bars them from discussing the terms of the contract with third parties? Where on the surface of the earth is this done?

The concern about the low quality of the CCTV surfaced back in 2011 so why are you suprised that they are now falling apart?

Leading debate on the motion, he raised concern about the quality of materials being used by the Chinese company alleging that they were substandard.

He further noted that the poles being used for the CCTV cameras were different from the ones used by the same company in countries like Ghana, Senegal, Morroco and Malaysia.

He said,"the National Public Security Communication System is based in a system known as Global Trunking Architecture which provides telecommunication and it could be used to monitor elections and verification of election results as well as disaster management and control.

"The contractual details of the transaction with the Federal Government is presently shrouded in secrecy which is a clear violation of the doctrine of transparency, accountability and an infringement of the laws of the country," Honourable Saleh said..

And in the same city, the marvel and height of bridge building technology and knowhow is being showcased, just because they can simply pay oyinbos enormously to come and mount it,while the people still lack the basics.

TravelSam Phil-ebosie, Not Favour Odozor, Is Nigeria’s Youngest Commercial Flying Pilo by ekoilee(op): 10:43pm On Apr 29, 2013
https://premiumtimesng.com/dev/wp-content/files/2013/04/Sam-pic-1-125x88.jpg

Late Sam Phil-Ebosie… He obtained his commercial flying pilot at 19
Phil-Ebosie was a pilot for former president Shehu Shagari.

Contrary to an earlier report that a 20-year-old, Favour Odozor, emerged as the youngest Nigeria with a Commercial Pilot Licence; investigations have revealed that the feat belongs to Sam Phil-Ebosie.

Mr. Phil-Ebosie, now deceased, graduated as a licensed commercial pilot at 19 at the Nigerian Civil Aviation School, Zaria, in 1970.

Born July 27, 1951, to Emman Phil-Ebosie, Nigeria’s foremost indigenous ENT Surgeon, and Yewande Phil-Ebosie; Mr. Phil-Ebosie was the third of four brothers.

He had his primary education at Ladi-Lak Institute, and later transferred to Government Demonstration School, Surulere, Lagos.

After his secondary education at the prestigious Kings College, Lagos, Mr. Phil-Ebosie’s decision to become a Civil Aviator shocked both his family and teachers as well as his mates.

In Zaria, he graduated at the top of his class, and began his commercial flying career with the now defunct Nigerian Airways.

Through his flying career, which spanned over a decade, Mr. Phil-Ebosie was trained on the Fokker 27, Fokker 28, Boeing 737, Boeing 707, and DC 10.

In 1977, while still at the Nigeria Airways, he was confirmed the youngest Fokker 27 Captain at the age of 25.

The height of Mr. Phil-Ebosie’s professional flying career was when, at 30, he became the youngest ever Captain in the world to fly the wide bodied aircraft in 1981.

During his career, he was the preferred long haul Captain for the Presidential Fleet, flying then President Shehu Shagari to the Hajj in Saudi Arabia; the Commonwealth conference in Australia, United Nation’s conference in New York; and several other destinations.

He also flew the then Vice President, Alex Ekwueme, on several occasions.

Media reports had credited Mr. Odozor with the feat after the young Nigerian graduated, alongside 15 others, at the Afrika Union Aviation Authority in South Africa.

Captain Allan Roebuck, Director of AUAA, had said that Mr. Odozor completed all the 37 flying procedures in record time to become “the youngest commercial licence pilot in both Nigeria and South Africa.”

“I cannot say now if he is the youngest African to attain that record, but I’m sure he is the youngest in South Africa and Nigeria,” Mr. Roebuck had told the News Agency of Nigeria.

Mr. Phil-Ebosie retired from the Nigerian Airways in 1985, and then joined Saudi Airlines where he worked as a Lockheed Tri-Star L1011 Captain.

Between 1986 and 1995, he worked at PH Aviation Teterboro, New Jersey; UPS, New York; and Federal Express, Memphis.

In 1995, after 27 years of commercial flying, Mr. Phil-Ebosie drew the curtains on his career, and then opened Skynote, his own private aviation support company.

Until his death in 2012, he remained a keen aviator, consulting in different areas of the aviation sector.
