cap28:And neither will Nigerians. But the Beninois, Cameroonians and Nigeriens who get to enjoy cheap fuel at Nigeria's expense will. |
If it brings about results, then I have no problems with her being super-minister. Carry go, Ngozi |
^-- We are trying. It will take time, but all hands are on deck (I'm even trying to contribute in my own small way.) |
Beaf:By all means, they should seek to resolve the strike. But governors shouldn't let civil servants gouge their state out of too much money. How effective do you think a governor will be if he caves in any time the civil servants decide to strike? Cave in and you won't be able to put your pants on without their permission. |
As an aside, how dare you call anyone else bigoted? Cab driver = "bestial nature" to you? Be very careful with those sort of remarks. At least, if you look down on people poorer than you, at least have the common sense not to voice those sentiments publicly. Reminds me of that David Mark comment, "telephone is not for the poor" (or so.) Even non-elites deserve to be treated with some respect. |
Oh, and in case it wasn't obvious, the comment you bolded was facetious (me bringing up the economist shoulda been a giveaway, heh.) |
I don't judge people based on what they do for a living. That he is a cab driver doesn't mean he doesn't know how to reason. And if a wealthy man tells me that the sky is green, I'll still call him silly. Wisdom can be found in many places. What is that saying, "out of the mouth of babes. . . ?" If a child, then why not a cab driver? Right is right and wrong is wrong, regardless of who is saying it. |
Perhaps these agberos and NURTW folks majored in econ or public policy in college or have a subscription to the economist ![]() In any case, they clearly have a better sense of the responsibilities of a government to its people (all its people, not just a tiny segment) than you do. |
The reasoning is quite simple. Pretty much anyone who spends 30 seconds to think about it will understand both Aregbesola and this taxi driver's POV. There are (essentially) two cases: A) You are a civil servant. In which case, you want as much of the state's resources to get into the pocket of you and your peers as possible. B) You are not a civil servant. In which case, you want your state's wage bill to be as small as possible. . . since that means more money available for development of your state. Paying workers != development. It is a necessary cost of doing whatever else you are trying to do (running a government in this case), but not the purpose of government (at least, a state government.) |
Beaf's "rest on my laurels" mentality I guess makes it easy for those who seek to improve themselves and get better (like Akwa Ibom) to zoom past his state. He is the type of guy who probably in RL will spend the next 30 years in the same position. "Why should I bother improving myself? After all, I earn a decent salary now." 5-10 years from now, those who he supervised will become his boss. He will be praying and fasting at church to get a promotion rather than getting rid of this "rest on my laurels" mentality. Then again, not everyone in life has a "go getter" mentality. |
Beaf's mansion (Delta State) is burning down. Another man (Aregbesola) is trying to build his hut into something nice. Beaf is instead more interested in supervising the renovations of the other man's hut than to rescue his own mansion. The only word I can use to describe this is 'kolomental' |
Truth be told, with the exception of those criminals and muderers above. There is nothing to show for the huge resources these state are recieving. For now, i live in the heart of Beyalsa & Rivers communities as i frequently shuttle between villages. The whole place is in sorry state. I have countlessly, paid for medicals, and school fees for youths, children & women. What will sadden you, is that when you check the amount this governor recieve.
God bless you for that. What I wonder is why don't these guys hold their leaders accountable? Beaf in particular has zero interest in holding his own governor accountable. Why? Very shameful stuff. |
Indeed. We will always be poorer than Delta. Despite the fact that most of Nigeria's GDP growth seems to be in the non-oil sector (see the latest report on the CBN website), and my state's economy is almost entirely non-oil ![]() Hehe. You can draw your own inferences from that. BTW. . . most of Delta's wealth is in Warri and the environs, correct? You are not an indigene of Warri, as you've stated before. Your own LGA of origin is quite poor, is it not? |
Beaf:Hehe. That may be true today. But if you keep getting sh1tty leaders and we keep getting good ones, in 40 years time that will not be the case. The power of exponential growth is quite remarkable. . . it can allow poor backwards lands (like Dubai and Singapore) to surpass even wealthy, oil-rich ones. |
That is the kind of amusing thing to me about all of this. Rather than crying "razist" foolishly, should a man who loves his state and loves his people not be concerned about how it appears that another is zooming past it due to good leadership? The same good leadership his own state lacks? Yet how often do we see Beaf show any interest in this type of stuff? Any sort of local politics from his supposed state of origin, Delta? Instead we get fake pictures from Japan. Would any true indigene of Delta ever mistakenly post a picture from Japan as one of his state capital ![]() I wonder if he is even truly an indigene of Delta. If he is, the man has truly lost touch. . . or is in the employ of evil men. |
@Rhino.5dm: I think oil money has weakened the brains of some of these people. They think it solves all problems, rather than realizing that you need good governance too. One without the other. . . well, nuff said. |
The point here is, Rivers State is trying to bring transformation, Akwa Ibom is equally pushing further the development on ground. So your claim that this is attack on south south is very wrong.
Hehe It is kind of interesting to me watching the progress Akwa Ibom is making. Can you imagine what the state will look like if they get another good governor after Akpabio? That will be 16 years of good governance. . . time enough for AKS to zoom past Delta to take the #2 spot in the SS. And maybe even challenge for #1. |
Why are you such a whiny little b1tch? So everyone who disagrees with you is a bigot? Even a dude like Gbawe? How about you stop acting like a woman? |
Nice post! |
oyb:If by hardon you mean crush, and by crush you mean I would like nothing better than to crush his windpipe, then you are correct ![]() |
OAM4J:Hehe ![]() Aduwo, who was the military governor of the Western state, said Babangida remained a subordinate to Obasanjo, “IBB is a subordinate to Obasanjo at all levels — service to the nation, the military, government and politics. The superior officer remains the superior officer. What Admiral Aduwo doesn't understand is that Hausa and such have never respected the chain of command and authority. The only thing they understand is violence and force. Which is why OBJ is responding the way he has. I don't think anybody needs to offer OBJ advice on how to handle his business. The old man has it covered. |
Awolowo? Thief? Evidence of this? |
No. There will be less starvation in 20 years than now. |
yep |
Interesting |
Economic genocide? Lmao |
My brother, I am sure they will grant you a license if you want one. And if you have the funds, then you can open up your own university. We will even give you free land in my hometown to build it ![]() |
Threads like this are useful. Unfortunately, the SE zone doesn't get enough media coverage. It is good to know whether people are actually performing, or whether the usual sycophants and noisemakers (chino11 in particular) are just blowing smoke up people's @ss. |
What does Elizade mean? It sounds like an expensive alcohol beverage to me |
