Valencia is so so overused. Hope it wont affect his concentration on Thursday. |
The referee didn't see but only relied on his impulse. We gained today. This was similar to the penalty awarded against Phil Jones. Lingard should be careful. He made a reckless tackle and got away with it. |
sinaj:So you have graduated now? |

adebayo201:Guess you have seen Mourinho said Rooney is an option for midfield. Next time listen to who know ball. >: ![]() |
TEAM NEWS UPDATE FOR UNITED V SWANSEA Jose Mourinho has provided a detailed update on the fitness and availability of a number of key players as the Manchester United boss juggles injury and suspension issues. The Reds manager spoke to the press after Thursday's goalless draw at Manchester City and confirmed that Tim Fosu-Mensah has joined the injury list, while Marouane Fellaini will now miss the next three games following his derby dismissal. There was some better news for the Reds when Mourinho confirmed that Juan Mata is edging closer to a return and Paul Pogba is likely to be back for the trip to Celta Vigo next Thursday. Mourinho also discussed the possibility of Wayne Rooney playing in midfield against Swansea at Old Trafford, saying: "It's an option. We have Herrera and Carrick and nothing else. Tim is another one that we miss so we are in trouble but we will fight that’s for sure. "I think the first one to be back is Mata, which gives us another option in attack but, in reality, what we need now is one of the two central defenders to be back." The boss was asked about the possibility of resting the in-form Eric Bailly for Sunday's match and giving a run-out to promising young defender Axel Tuanzebe . Such is United's lack of central defenders at present, the manager joked he might even play himself! "I am also training hard in the gym so I can be an option also – Mourinho and Tuanzebe against Swansea! "In this moment, Eric is the only option we have – it’s Axel, Eric and Daley [Blind]. I think Eric and Daley played again absolutely amazing [against City]. I have to speak with them and see how they are and see how they feel." United's lack of options through injury and suspension in midfield led to reporters questioning Mourinho about whether or not it was a mistake to let Morgan Schneiderlin and Bastian Schweinsteiger leave. "To have lots of players without playing is something the players don’t want," said the manager. "We didn’t tell Morgan we wanted to sell him. Morgan asked, 'Please sell me, I want to go. I want to play every game.' "Sometimes there is always this dilemma, to keep a bigger squad but the players don’t want to stay. Even young players, when they’re not playing, they ask to leave so it is very hard. "We’re arriving at an extreme situation where I think it must be unique in football with two cruciate ligament injuries in the same match. In my career, I had one player in 17 years [injuring his cruciate]. Now, against Anderlecht, I have two in one match and we are very unlucky, it’s the only thing we can say. "The other small injuries – Pogba and [Antonio] Valencia in the last week - are injuries due to fatigue and the accumulation of matches, which is normal." http://www.manutd.com/en/News-And-Features/Football-News/2017/Apr/team-news-for-manchester-united-v-swansea-city-sunday-30-april.aspx?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=post&utm_campaign=ManUtd |
Fellaini has been useful recently except in the last match. He was the reason we were comfortable against Burnley. Even against City he was useful defending set plays. Although I believe Mensah could do the aerial ball defending 90% of whatever Fellaini offers. |
ChristineC:Don’t mind them. James is not better than Mata. Are we going back? |
Oasis007:You people underrate Smalling just because he didn't have a great season. Hope we wont regret when we see him playing well for Arsenal? |
Duru009:Dont judge. Remember touch not my anointed and do my prophets no harm. ![]() |
JCBOY4LIFE:So you are now qualified to judge a Prophetess? What happened to touch not my anointed and do my prophets no? ![]() |
afrodoc2:That's true. But in his sparcely appearance this season he has been used mostly as a central midfielder. He doesn't seem to behave like he is a stranger there. He might just be our own Matuidi |
MRTA7:Is the injury serious? I saw that incident. That guy would have done better than Felliani and Mkhitaryan combined together. |
We should just start preparing Funso Mensah for next season. Let’s try him with the remaining league games. He will win aerial balls too. He can play on the ground. He can burst forward with the ball. He needs game time and experience. |
adebayo201:It's early this season, I can't remember the opposition now. He played first half as a forward but went there in the second half. |
adebayo201:There was a game Rooney played midfield in the second half earlier in the season. |
SIRcumalot:Funso is injured? The one I wanted us to give a run of league games in the absence of Fellaini. We are going to fall back on Rooney for the remaining campaign if Pogba doesn't return soon. |
AdisaOwala:Rashford only knows about run run run. He couldn't contest for balls to try to win some and bring others into play. |
We needed to win this to show seriousness of finishing top four. We started well but soon allowed City to boss the game. Our midfielders and forwards had nothing to offer. For Rashford it's all run and run. He doesn't know anything about contesting for long balls out of our defence, instead he hoped for experienced defenders like Kompany and Otamendi to miss a header so that that he could run free to score. Martial offered some defensive cover but he lacked support going forward as Fellaini was all negative. The few times Rashford tried to run behind the defence, Fellaini still couldn't spot him. The game was bigger and stronger than Mkhitaryan. Most of our players were easily shaken off the ball and lost 50-50 balls easily. We were like light weights, except for Bailly and Valencia. Pogba should have offered some power and ball retention. With him, Fellaini and Herrera should have shown. The result is only good for pride and unbeaten run. May with some slim chance of over taking Liverpool. |
Mkhitaryan should be substituted for Lingard Next should be Marshal for Young |
We can agree we miss Pogba today. I actually thought we could could miss his ball holding and physical play in the midfield today, it is proving to be so with the way Felliani is falling every where. Only Martial trying to do something meaningful among the forwards. |
I thought we should have started Young and Shaw. We need to punish their slow back line. |

Welcome to page 4000 |
Let's go there. Lol |
Can you all suspend arguments to allow everyone the opportunity to register their names on page 4000? |
Marcelo yabbed He should have fouled that guy. With 2 minutes added time, 91.40 mins played, why allow someone to start an attack against you when you have a clear opportunity of fouling him? |
MRTA7:But Funso played CB for us under Gaal. |
lekkie073:Yes |
patrickmuf:When previously has Zlatan ever landed awkwardly? Zouma is inexperienced. |
The injuries came at a time we needed everyone fit. Luke Shaw will have his time now. He will compensate for Blind's lack of height and aerial ability. Funso Mensah should be our first back to Bailly and Blind. We have to pray that no one gets injured again. Old age is old age. Ibrahimovic injured because he was pushing it harder than what his body can accommodate. He jumping very high with all his strength trying to help win the game. May be we can rush Smalling back. I don't know his return date. |
