BikeMan:No, DeGea made an attempt to dive from the VAR review, but hesitated in anticipation of a diversion when the ball hits Sigurdson. Nevertheless, the rules did not say if the keeper was making a dive or not, but when there is an action obstructing the keeper's decision |
Meanwhile Roy Kean .... Keane believes the right decision was made by the VAR officials but has criticised Sigurdsson for not getting out of the way quicker. The Irishman does not think De Gea would have saved Calvert-Lewin’s shot if Sigurdsson was not in the way. “I don’t think [De Gea] would have [saved it], but I do think they got to the right decision, I have to say,” Keane said on Sky Sports. “I think because sometimes it’s so late in the game and it’s going to be the winning goal people are even a bit more emotional than normal. “But I’d be annoyed with Sigurdsson for not getting out of the way. He sits there, please tell me what he’s waiting for. “You’ve got to try and clear the area, that’s just a bit of common sense . I think it’s the right decision. “Listen, I can see why Everton of course are disappointed but it’s the correct call . “Why he is waiting? What is he waiting for? Disappointed? But you’ve got to get up and get out of the way, even make an attempt to get back on goal.” https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1249466/Man-Utd-news-Roy-Keane-Everton-Gylfi-Sigurdsson-disallowed-goal/amp |
I scanned the internet. Only one fake Howard Webb gave his opinion in a website where majority of verified posters said it was an offside. Except Howard Webb spoke on TV and has not be relayed yet on internet. |
BikeMan:There was an interference that prevented the ball to be defended by the goalkeeper. The rule is tje rule. DDG would have dived for it if not for interference.
|
thorrvik55:Where did Howard Webb say this? |
Today;s game was too fast and physical for Mata. I think Lingard would have offered more in a fast and physical contest like this if McTominay must be removed to allow him come into full match fitness. If we do not use physical players to protect Bruno, we might be having the Di Maria case in our hands. Also, Bailly over Lindelof for now. Bailly exudes so much confidence in the backline and it helps our play from the defence. With Lindelof, it is struggling to cope rather than trying to play. My opinion for now based on few games played by Bailly. |
elampiro:My last explanation to help those who do not understand the rules. The above is an explanation by the chief of referees. Richardson was on the way of the ball. Not just close to it but on its way. This caused DDG not to commit to diving for the ball behind Richardson because it was going for a deflection. Richardson did not only not touch the ball but made a gesture or body movement which further compounded the confusion of the David DeGea. 1. The closeness of Richardson to the ball alone calls for an offside in the new rules. 2. His body was blocking the flow of the ball which could change its trajectory 3. He made a gesture which confused the goalkeeper. |
BenNash:Bro you are the one sounding like you don't know the rules. That action affected DDG's decision making. Once it is like that, it is an offside |
BenNash:Richardson's action affected DDG's decision. These are settled rules since 2015. How come you guys don't know them? Look at my last post above |
Speaking to Sky Sports News HQ at the Premier League launch, Riley said: "Previously a player to be in an offside position and be penalised, they would have to touch the ball or play the ball. "The IFAB (International Football Association Board) has clarified this. They now say to be considered to be offside the player has to make a clear attempt to play the ball, be close to the ball and have an impact on the opponent, or to make an obvious action to have an impact of the opponent. THE SCENARIO: A memorable 5-3 win for Spurs but they didn't star very well after conceding an early goal. Eden Hazard's mazy run ended in a shot against a post, with Oscar firing the ball back towards Diego Costa who tapped in the opener. THIS SEASON’S DECISION: Offside. RILEY SAYS: This is a good example as how the law of interpretation has changed. Last season this was penalised as offside as the Tottenham player didn’t touch the ball but you can see as the cross comes over, the goalkeeper can’t decide whether to commit to diving in front of Costa or dive to try to save the ball. It impacts on his decision making. Costa is close to the ball, makes an attempt to play the ball and he makes an impact on the goalkeeper's decision, so Costa would be penalised for being offside https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/9935364/former-referee-dermot-gallagher-backs-offside-rule-change |
The changes to the offside rule explained... 31/07/15 Referee Steven McLean explains how the offside rule will be different next season With the new season comes another change to the offside rule. We explain what the tweaks are with the help of a referee... So what is the difference this season to the previous campaign? Well essentially, if a player has a shot at goal and a team-mate in an offside position makes a play for the ball – even if they do not touch it – the goal will now be disallowed. Scottish Football Association referee Steven McLean explains it all for us here by talking through the exact amendments to the old rule... “No, it’s a simple change really to interfering with an opponent." Can you give a brief explanation of the change in the law? “When a player makes an obvious action which clearly impacts on his opponent’s ability to play the ball, then he will be penalised as offside.” https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/9930438/the-offside-rule-change-explained-with-the-help-of-a-referee Larride, see Skysports explanation in 2015 when it was introduced. |
larride:Oga this is not the rule. Haba!!! A player in an offside position making movements which deceive an opponents ability to save a goal is different from what you described up there. Once you movements causes confusion to the way a defender or goalkeeper would have prevented a goal, it is offside. |
Expert17:Gbam |
larride:You still do not get it. If he did not dodged the ball, it would have deflected the ball to the middle of the goal. DeGea was going for that ball from the VAR I saw but decided to wait due to a possible deflection |
This is clear enough.
|
Eruditor:It is just an illustration. That is the rules. I read the details when it was introduced about 5 years ago and EPL also gave more detail guideline. The guy on the floor interfere with the decision of the goalkeeper. His body was on the direction of the ball. |
larride:If he did not avoid the ball, DeGea would read it well.because it would have deflected to the middle of the goal. And from VAR, I saw DDG wanted to go for the ball, but realizing there could be a deflection, he stood confused awaiting it in the middle
|
larride:Yes but the player offside must not interfere with the keeper's decision |
eph12:He interferred with the goalleeper's decision leading to the goal. |
larride:It is off. His body movement deceived the keeper. DeGea already anticipated the ball would hit him and divert. That is the rule |
eph12:He presence is an interference with the goalkeeper |
larride:I think they check VAR for incidences leading tp only goal, penalty and red card |
Greenwood spoils many good moves |
codedguy1:Kean likes to sound far tougher than the human being he was during his playing days. If he was actually like this, his team mates at the time would have fought him several times. |
Anceloti has counter our tactics |
codedguy1:He should relax jor. Sounding like a school principal |
See as Fred spoilt a counter attack. |
larride:The first set of passes Fred made into the final 3rd and box area were from the left side. Bruno was in the middle but a CAM chooses where best to operate. He can even go camp on one side for 90 minutes as silva used to do. |
eph12:I wanted to say this too |
chrisley024:He wan score |
What is wrong with Maguire with needless yellow card in the final 3rd? Wetin he dey find for there. He could not control an important pass |
larride:They did not switch. It was like that from the start. Players are not statues |
