PRESS STATEMENT


*The trial of Sheikh Zakzaky is a travesty of Justice*


The much talked about case mischievously brought against the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky and three others by Kaduna state government comes up next Thursday June 21st 2018 at the Kaduna state High Court.


Not only that Kaduna state government came up with some phoney charges against Sheikh Zakzaky, his wife and two others, there are pointers to the fact that they are bent on a secret trial with a view to convicting the Sheikh unjustifiably.


To put some context to this case, it will be recalled that it was on the night of 12 December, 2015 that heavily armed soldiers, on the orders of the then Major General Oyebade, went to the residence of the Sheikh with a murderous intent. After a two day shooting spree, they had killed over a thousand men, women and children, including three of the Sheikh’s remaining four sons and his elder sister. The house was torched and subsequently demolished. The Sheikh himself and his wife were fatally shot severally, leaving them in the pool of their bloods before they were dragged over the corpses of their children into incommunicado detention.


Needless to mention that Sheikh Zakzaky and his spouse won the landmark judgement in their favour for the enforcement of their fundamental rights at the Federal High Court, which the Federal Government contemptuously disobeyed with so much impunity eighteen months after.


Recently the Saudi government disclosed that it sponsored this horrendous massacre and the matter is still under further investigation by the International Criminal Court at The Hague. It is against this backdrop that the Kaduna state government came up with spurious charges against Sheikh Zakzaky, his wife and two others.


We wish to strongly condemn this trial in its entirety as a travesty of justice. Furthermore we are vehemently opposed to conducting the hearings in secret by any guise whatsoever. This case is of enormous interest to both local and international observers. An open trial under the watchful eyes of the world is the least minimum requirement. Local and international press must be granted access to the court. Similarly, local and international human rights bodies willing to observe the trial must be allowed as well as any member of the general public.


Anything short of this will amount to perversion of justice, which President Muhammadu Buhari was recently reported in the media to have said will no longer be “tolerated.” Justice, as it is often said, must not only be done, it must clearly be seen to be done.

THE TRIAL OF SHEIKH ZAKZAKY IS A PERVERSION OF JUSTICE

Of recent President Muhammadu Buhari was reported in the media to have said that, “We’ll no longer tolerate perversion of justice.” Nice words if the government will abide by the pledge to all irrespective of their social and religious orientation. However the Islamic Movement in Nigeria has some reservations on this assertion by Mister President if the current injustice meted to our leader, Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky since December, 2015 and his followers is taken into account.

First of all on the night of 12 December, 2015, the soldiers that marched to our leader’s house on the orders of the then Major General Oyebade did not come with the intent of arresting him. They came with a murderous intent and that was what they did on reaching the street leading to his house, where they started shooting indiscriminately at people within the vicinity of the place. Sheikh Zakzaky has never resisted arrest as typified by his arrest during the military dictatorship of Gen. Abacha.

After a two day shooting spree, 1000+ members of the Islamic Movement were gunned down by the soldiers, including three beloved sons of Sheikh Zakzaky, many children and women. The Sheikh himself and his wife were shot several times, leaving them in the pool of their blood. He was dragged over the dead bodies of his children and followers into detention.

The Sheikh’s residence was torched and razed to ground by the marauding army. The Islamic centre established by him was similarly destroyed and now confiscated by Elrufai’s government. This is not to mention the destruction of the cemetery where we bury our martyrs in the outskirts of Zaria and Fudiyya Islamic centre.

Upon all these atrocities, the Sheikh and his followers resorted to legal battle to win back their rights denied to them ostensibly for no reason. Sheikh Zakzaky won a landmark judgement in his favor from an Abuja High Court. His fundamental human rights were restored to him and the court declared him free. However the federal government contemptuously ignored the courts orders delivered one and half years ago.

Now after the Saudi government has indicated that it sponsored the Zaria genocide, which is under investigation by the international criminal court of justice at Hague, Kaduna state government came up with some mischievous charges against Sheikh Zakzaky, his wife and two others. If at all the government respect the judiciary, it should have demonstrated that by first obeying the court orders freeing Sheikh Zakzaky. Hence Mister President if the brutal clampdown on Sheikh Zakzaky and the Islamic Movement is not a perversion of justice, what is it? It is clear to all and sundry that Sheikh Zakzaky is a victim of injustice by this government, and it is not late for it to redeem its image and set him free.

However we firmly believe Allah will once again expose this government’s cluelessness and ineptitude in governance by handing victory to Sheikh Zakzaky in the court because the case which comes up on Thursday 21/06/18 is enmeshed in many flaws. Apart from the fact that Sheikh Zakzaky and his wife were not at the scene of the alleged fictitious murder of one Soldier during the military onslaught, the two other accused, namely Sheikh Yaqoub Yahya Katsina and Sheikh Sunusi Abdulqadir were not even in Zaria throughout the two days Zaria massacre. While the former was in Katsina, the latter was in far-away Sudan on studies.

We hereby reiterate our demand that Sheikh Zakzaky, his wife, hundreds of others in detention over the Zaria massacre should be set free unconditionally in the interest of peace and national cohesion so much desired by this country.

�Proposal

Poverty Alleviation Program of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria:

Absolute poverty, extreme poverty, or destitution refers to the complete lack of the means necessary to meet basic personal needs such as food, clothing and shelter. Fighting against all forms of poverty is the path of all Prophets and Messengers of God. Those who chose the path of righteousness should alleviate poverty of the poor.

This suggestion is just a proposal and will only come to effect with the approval of the Leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky.

We should think of ways to alleviate the sufferings of the poor and downtrodden among us and with proper planning and effective organization this is possible.

Modality:

A Bank account will be open for the Poverty Alleviation Program. Members of the Islamic Movement and other interested Nigerian's will contribute at least one thousand (N1000) monthly.

A Committee will be establish for the disbursement of these funds to the poor and downtrodden. They will have record-bank of extreme poverty cases and provide funds to the families to alleviate the condition.

For example, if the head of a family is jobless, capital is provided to him to Trade and basic knowledge of trading is provided. If the head of the family has a job but the salary is poor then his wife should be provided with capital to Trade to alleviate the poverty of the family.

Beneficiaries:

Most of the beneficiaries will be members of the Islamic Movement but Sunni Muslims and our Christian brothers and sisters will also be included. Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky is for humanity. The Committee will select the beneficiaries on Monthly bases.

For example, if one thousand people contribute one thousand Naira monthly then that will add up to one million Naira. Imagine if one million Naira is Disburse to poor families monthly! Progress will be made....

Members of the Committee:

They will be be selected by Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky. An independent audit committee should also be establish to audit their activities.

Conclusion:

This is just a proposal. We can fine turn it to have a more better proposal before presentation to our Leader.

#Zakat_Ul_Fitr (Obligatory Poor Assistance)

Towards the end of #Ramadan, Allah commanded Muslims to pay Zakat to the poor and downtrodden. This is in order to lessen the plight of the poor and provide them with what to eat during #EidulFitr .

Those that are well-to-do should not just give the minimum stipulated by God. They should give more for more heavily reward.

Reducing poverty and enhancing the plight of the poor and downtrodden is the Godly path of All Prophets and Messengers of God. This is the path of Godliness and way of the Righteous. Selfishness and Self-centeredness must be rejected for a healthy society.

The Seal of all Prophets and Messengers of God, Muhammad al-Mustapha (sa), gave all he had to ease the sufferings of the poor. So also The Imams of AhlulBayt (as).

Whenever you eat, think of the section of humanity that do not have food to eat. Whenever you sleep in your house think of the homeless who have no home to sleep.

Individualism is a Western concept that have no place in the teachings of all Prophets and Messengers of God. Jesus (as) always fed the poor and downtrodden despite the fact that he was hungry. We should emulate Jesus (as) and not the individualistic Genocidal European savages.

Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky taught me all these and more. God bless him, heal him and Free him from the more than two years illegal detention incommunicado by the wicked mass murderer tyrant Buhari.

For more than 70 years now Genocidal Zionist savages with the help of genocidal European savages illegally occupied Palestine, drove off the indigenous population and massacred innocent civilians. Since then these bloodthirsty savages are killing defenseless Palestinians on daily basis.

Genocidal European savages fabricated a fraudulent "peace process" to curtail Palestinian Resistance and officially enslaved them. Since then the Buhari regime is holding Sheikh Zakzaky and his wife in illegal detention incommunicado despite court ordered their freedom. Despite the illegal detention of Sheikh Zakzaky, the Islamic Movement continue to hold massive QudsDay protest rallies across more than 50 cities and towns in Nigeria and this year will not be an exception.

On a final note, we call on all Nigerians and people of conscience to join the QudsDay protest rally. Selective feelings of the human pains is barbaric and animalistic. We should feel the pains of all humanity and Occupied Palestine is in pains.

A Wahhabi scholar recently grumbled in his Quran Tafsir session that Followers of Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky are increasing rapidly in Nigeria after the Zaria genocide. Our answer to him and his likes "You ain't seen anything yet!"

Sheikh Zakzaky is truthful, sincere and honest to his cause. He rejected tremendous wealth to keep on the path of righteousness. He sacrificed everything for what he believed in and humanity.

Bullets, bombs and imprisonment of wicked tyrants and oppressors will never decrease followers of Sheikh Zakzaky. Sheikh Zakzaky has never given anybody money to follow him. We all came willingly.

The murderous criminals who executed the inhuman Zaria genocide made numerous approaches to "buy" some of us who are active on the #FreeZakzaky campaigns but they have not succeeded in buying a single person. One of the historical frauds of #Wahhabism is making Aisha superior to Sayyeda Fatima al-Zahra (as). They do not have any textual proof but they brainwashed alot of Sunnis with this deviation.

A Sunni Friend of mine had 5 daughters and none of them was named "Fatima". I asked him "Are you at war with the Prophet?" He said "No!". I said "Why none of your daughters is bearing Fatima and 2 are bearing Aisha? " He said "Aisha is the greatest woman!". I asked him "Who told you such blatant lie?" He became confused. I told him Sayyeda Fatima al-Zahra is the greatest woman. I told him in a famous Tradition Prophet Muhammad listed 4 women as the greatest women in history and Aisha is not included. He said he will consult his scholar. After two days he called me and said all what I told him was the truth.

Sunnism was built around Abubakar, Umar and Uthman. Fraudulent traditions were Fabricated by Banu Ummayad tyrants to give them and their children prominence even if this will infringe on the personality of the Prophet (sa).

I was born Sunni. When we were small we were brainwashed that Umar is very brave! But later I discovered this is a historic fraud with no bases. The mark of bravery then is Duel to the death before every battle. Umar had never took part in a single Duel in his entire life. The greatest warrior was Imam Ali (as) who fought great Duels and won All.

Imam Khomeini Death Anniversary:

On June 3rd, 1989 when Imam Khomeini (qs) passed away, Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky was in prison in far away Port Harcourt, Rivers State. Martyr Sheikh Mahmoud Turi led the Funeral prayer in Kaduna.

On June 3rd, 1990 we organized the First memorial lecture for Imam Khomeini at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and the Guest Speaker was Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky. The lecture took place at the Science Lecture Theatre. We cried from the beginning of the Lecture to the end. After the Lecture, we escorted Sheikh Zakzaky to ABU, Zaria, Main Gate where he took a Taxi to Zaria City.

June 3rd, 1989 remained the most saddest day of my life. The demise of Imam Khomeini left us with an emptiness but we become stronger. Yes, we become stronger, Alhamdulillah!

Genocidal European savages celebrated the demise of Imam Khomeini because they foolishly thought that was the end of the Islamic Revolution. Today Iran and its allies are advancing on all fronts and there is nothing these genocidal European savages will do. Alhamdulillah!

Imam Khomeini brought us out of darkness away from the evil of the West. He showed us true Islam and shown the world it strength. He slapped the Superpowers in the face and put them in their place.

even tolerate any contrary ideas to theirs. They label other Muslims as infidels and celebrate tyrants that mass murder Muslims that don't
share their ideas. This indeed is the official Islam of CIA and MOSSAD. Imagine the level of stupidity of the Wahhabists, a Saudi Prince saying they will fight Imam Mahdi AS when he appears. All terrorists organizations in the world are offshoots of Wahhabism and are
sponsored by them. Boko Haram, ISIS, DAESH, Al-Qaeda, Taliban and their likes were all founded and nurtured by Wahhabism.
Wahhabism is also founded by CIA and used to blackmail Islam, disunite Muslims and give the religion a bad image to also promote phobia against Muslims.
Those working to promote Wahabism include America, Israel and Saudi Arabia. Muslims must rise against this mischief that is daily
spreading sorrow, tears and blood among world Muslims. Muslims must reject the cancer of Wahhabism in its entirety.

One day Prophet Muhammad (sa) who was the Head of Government at Madina saw a Jewish Corpse passing, he promptly stood up to honor the dead. A companion asked "But this is a Jew?" Prophet Muhammad (Sa) answered "We are all human!". This is my kind of religion.

Murderous Wahhabism removed humanity from the Islam sent to Prophet Muhammad (sa) and replaced it with hate, intolerance and murderous terrorism. They foolishly claimed God ownership and ignorantly arrogated to themselves the position of "Registrars" of Islam, to decide who is a Muslim and who is not. Today is Biafra Fallen Heroes Day. A day earmarked to mourn millions of Biafran civilians who died during the 1967-70 Nigerian Civil War.

Today the Great Igbo people of South East Nigeria observed the #SitAtHome protest to remember their loved ones. The protest was highly successful.

US faults FG on soldiers indicted in Army, Shi’ttes’ clash

The United States on Tuesday noted that there was no record that the Nigerian or military authorities had demanded accountability from the soldiers implicated in the December 2015 clash between the Army and members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria led by Ibrahim El -Zakzaky .

The US stated this in the International Religious Freedom Report for 2017 released by the Department of State ’s Bureau of Democracy , Human Rights and Labour .

The report also noted that the Nigerian government continued to hold El -Zakzaky and restrict the free movement and association of his followers.

It read , “Human rights groups continued to report the Federal Government often failed to prevent , quell , or respond to violence affecting religious groups , particularly in the North Eastern and central regions of the country .

“In November , Kano State police fired tear gas and bullets, killing three members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria during its annual Ashura procession.
“The government continued to detain the leader of the IMN , the country ’s largest Shia group , and restrict the activities , free movement , and free association of its members .

“There were no reports of accountability for soldiers implicated in the December 2015 clash between the army and IMN members that , according to a Kaduna State Government report and reports from non -government observers, left at least 348 IMN members and one soldier dead , with IMN members buried in a mass grave.”

It, however , alleged that dozens of IMN members were still being held since December 2015, charged with the death of the soldier .

It recalled that in August , the then Acting President Yemi Osinbajo announced the creation of a Presidential Investigative Panel that was committed to transparently and credibly investigating human rights abuses committed by the military .

It said the IMN , however , publicly stated that it would boycott the panel because it doubted its sincerity .
External human rights observers , it noted , also expressed concern over the lack of transparency and rigour of the panel .

The report noted that the Nigerian government had yet to obey court orders on the detained El -Zakzaky and his wife.
“The government stated publicly that Sheikh El - Zakzaky , leader of the IMN and a prominent Shia cleric , would remain in what it said was ‘protective custody ’ pending the appeal of the December 2016 decision of the Federal High Court in Abuja that the government must release him .

“At year ’s end , El -Zakzaky remained in prison .

“The court also ruled that the government must provide him with a house and pay him and his wife restitution of N 25 m ( $ 69 ,600 ) by January 15 ; at year’ s end , the court’s order had yet to be followed ,” it said .

The report also indicated that terrorist organisation , Boko Haram , and its splinter organisation, the Islamic State -West Africa , continued “carrying out numerous attacks, committing mass killings , and targeting civilians. “

It quoted Nigeria Watch as estimating that activities by Boko Haram and ISIS-WA resulted in the deaths of 1 ,794 persons in 2017 , including members of the two groups .

The Ministry of Defence’ s spokesman , Charles Nwodo , said he could not comment on the report till Wednesday ( today ) , when he would be back to the office .

“Defer the report till tomorrow . I will be back to the office by then .”

Nwodo declined further comment .

Meanwhile , the Director of Information , Defence Headquarters, Brig. Gen . John Agim , could not be reached for comment as his line rang out .
Also , a text message sent to his phone had yet to be replied as of the time of filing this report .

The Director , Army Public Relations , Brig. Gen . Texas Chukwu , also could not be reached for comment as of press time .

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs could not be reached for comment as the minister , Geoffrey Onyeama, did not respond to calls . He had yet to reply to a text message as of the time of filing this report .

The MFA spokesman, Tope Elias -Fatile, could also not be reached as calls to his phone indicated that he was unavailable .
