August 23, 2013 -Nigeria Deports 22000 Illegal Immigrants To Chad, Niger & Cameroon To Combat Terrorism The Nigerian Federal Government today said it had deported more than 22,000 illegal immigrants. The Minister of Interior, Abba Moro, said this while fielding questions fromnewsmen in Kano. He said the measure was taken following discovery that some of the activities of insurgents were master-minded by some illegal immigrants. ‘’Just yesterday, 18 of such aliens were repatriated from Bauchi State. The only alternative for us is repatriating them since they cannot regularise their stay,” he said. He said the affected aliens were repatriated to Niger Republic, Cameroon and Chad. According to him, the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) had taken stringent measures to check the ugly trend, adding that anyone found without relevant document would berepatriated. “The ministry has, in collaboration with the National Boundary Commission, establish legally recognised routes in the country. “We have identified 84 of such legal routes and deployed many personnel, especially in the northern planks, where insurgency has become rampant and the tendency to move across the borders is high,’’ he said. He revealed that the Federal Government was in the process of acquiring appropriate technologies, which would be deployed for surveillance at the borders. ‘’We are also in the process of acquiring new operational patrol vehicles to enhance security at the various borders. ‘’We believe that a combination of electronic surveillance and human component, will secure the borders,” he said. The minister, who was in Kano to inspect some facilities under his ministry, said he had discussion with the state governor, Rabi’u Kwankwaso, on the possibility of relocating Kano Central Prison. ‘’We have agreed that I will come back and see the facility myself, examine its desirability or otherwise, for us to collaborate,’’ he added. |

Nigerian Woman Invents Power Generating Football, Soccket ball August 17, 2013 –Nigerian Woman Invents Electricity Generating Soccer Ball, Soccket ball President Goodluck Jonathan on Friday expressed delight over the creativity of a 25-year-old Nigerian, Jessica Matthews, who invented a power-generating football called SOCCKET ball. Matthews, who is a co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Unchartedplay, was at the Presidential Villa, Abuja to present theball, which can generate three hours of light from 30 minutes of play to Jonathan. She also presented an energy-generating skipping rope to the President. While congratulating her on her creativity and innovativeness, Jonathan said he was impressed that Matthews, who trained as a psychologist and economist, developed herself in the field of science. He described her feat as a proof of the quality of human resource present in Nigeria. The President said the invention was useful as a major tool that could be used to mobilise young Nigerians and encourage them to think more deeply. Matthews said, “Sometimes power is lost and you say what can you do to solve this situation and I saw my cousins and everyone playing football, playing with everything not even with football alone. “I say this is amazing and they can rival Messi. If we can take this kinetic that is generated here and use it to address the issues that we really have; kinetic energy is used for windmill, why not the ball?” She said although the items were already on sale in New York, she had not started making them in Nigeria. She, however, said when they would be made available for sale in Nigeria, the cost would be equivalent to whatpeople pay for a solar inverter. Minister of Trade and Investment, Olusegun Aganga, said the Federal Government was looking at the possibilities of manufacturing the items in Nigeria and see how to make them cheaper for Nigerians. He said, “Jessica is a Nigerian, she studied at Harvard University, she went to Business School and actually taught herself Electrical and Mechanical Engineering. So, she is an inspiration to every Nigerian especially our children in Nigerian universities. This is a product not only for Nigeria, but a product made in Nigeria by a Nigerian and for the world. “The second thing is that the product is actually versatile, it is not just about the electricity you see, you can use it to charge your mobile phones, for fans, so there are so many things for which it can be used.” [FromSaturday Punch]

druid06: It seems Allah was deaf to her prayers about protecting her daughter yet some would kill, destroy and do some unmentionable deeds for HIM. Isn't it ironic and pathetic? Fighting for a deity who doesn't give a hoot about you, who wants you to destroy and kill innocent lives because to him they're infidels. People stop putting your hands in false GODS and make your destiny by your own hands. The gods are not to be blame... Some situations are destined to happen ![]() |

Federal government can't meet ASUU demand. But can budget 1 trilion on security with no result to show, you can spend billions on newspaper and feeding. you can also budget billions for the national assembly but you cant meet ASUU demand why then do you sign the agreement on the first place you built road because you use it for your exortic cars, but can't fix nepa because you use generators, you can't fix education because your children are schooling abroad, you can't fix the health sector because you travel abroad for a common ailment like running stomach, we need absolute change for all this predicament.
