Good morning House.

I will be moving to Lethbridge AB in January as a student to study CIT.
I have been unable to secure an apartment close to Lethbridge college even after signing up on Kijiji. Can someone be of assistance please.

Also, I have the following questions for the house.

1. I have a mobile phone that I intend traveling with what is the best Network plan to use? I use Koodo for $52 /Month. They do promotions all the time with different Networks. Just dont do freedom mobile unless you wont be leaving town at all.

2. Which bank to I open an account with that can serve me long term? Scotia / RBC.. Most commonly used. I guess they are good , thats why.

3. I intend getting a new laptop once I get there, how do I go about this as well? Depends on ur budget. I would first check FBK marketplace and Kijiji first. People sell brand new discounted stuff there all the time. Me,I'm a cheap guy, i buy used on Fbk Marketplace ( Tho I AM VERY CAREFUL, i test everything for atleast 1 hour before paying - No be by force) and i haven't gotten any bad market so far.

Thank you for your assistance.

For newcomers and residents, when you try to furnish your house or move to new places or you are simply lookin for electronic items, instead of using Kijiji, you can get great deals on MaxSold. A number of people who are moving out or whose grandparents are dead and the children want to come in or companies that are closing down or someone who just wants to change location have items in their houses or offices for auction.

Check the website out. Sometimes awoof fit run belle so if you rely on Kijiji for free deals, it's usually items that are worn out or in bad shape the people there say they're giving out for 'free'. Again, you cut the unnecessary negotiations or inability to see defects in the item you are interested in. Under maxsold they'll snap the actual place of defect if any to auctioned items.

One thing though, you'll need your credit or debit card as they bill your account for successful bids. I got a microwave for $1 and had a Bose speaker for free. At times, some items don't even have bids on them so you can speak to the auctioner. The last place I went, the owner was retiring after 30 years. He had a couch and some office items like printers that he just wanted out. As long as you have a vehicle to take them out with, you can take them for free.

If you want to transport your goods, you can search on Kijiji for guys that help with pick up because their vans have more space than the normal salon car.

The principle behind it is that all the items in the house must go off.

Yesso.

Am even aiming higher than that. God dey smiley

Thanks Bubsykay

bubsykay:

Advise: 6 is actually the least score that qualifies you for the Entry, you should aim at getting a CLB 9 (LWRS 8.5,777) in each of the test and that gives you a higher CRS. You can only be nominated by an immediate family member and not family friend.
Travel / Re: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program Connect Here by elhey: 4:06pm On Feb 01, 2016
Using this, i scored 368.

I scored myself 6 each on IELTS because i am yet to write it.

Is it looking like feasible? I have a Family friend that can nominate me but i read here its only family that can nominate.

What do u advise?

JesusDWay:

You can use the below link to calculate your score:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/crs-tool.asp

It can't go beyond what that calculator tells you. In case you are yet to do your ECA, you you should still indicate the equivalent of Bsc while filling your details in the calculator.
Travel / Re: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program Connect Here by elhey: 6:06pm On Jan 26, 2016
Thanks Boss.

Is there anyone you know that has used just IELTS and BSc and scaled thru the 450 point margin?

Am trying to get all the info i need before i start processing it.

JesusDWay:

Except you can get a One Year Masters programme to do, a professional certificate wont help. The one year Masters even gets you higher score than a 2certificates. For now, you may only go with your Bsc and IELTS
Travel / Re: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program Connect Here by elhey: 4:01pm On Jan 26, 2016
Jesus d way,

What documents can someone use to make the 2documents cut? I havenot written any of these pro courses.

All i have is my B.sc, a 6months diploma cert from NCR and a crash course cert from a Nigerian logistics school.

What other certificates is allowed or is just BSc and IELTS enough?

Am bit confused.

You welcome

Hello Zandora,

Been following this thread for about a week now. I heard about CEE around that time ( LastMa smiley ).

Its time to act on it anywaiz.

Just wanna confirm if all dis details still works to start the processing.

Also, which am i to pursue first IELTS or WES?

Am single, Below 30, with a BSC in Demography and Social Stat ( OAU ) .

Thanks to y'all for the good work.

zandora:
Hello all,

I've created this thread for Canadian Express Entry and outstanding FSW 2014 applicants since the previous thread became too long and has now been closed. I've also pasted a PDF link below which details the step by step instructions to apply for the Federal Skilled Workers Program via Express Entry.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4gWGgP8Vy5lSjFoaC01ZUtOaTg/view

In order to apply for Express Entry via FSW you need to first have a minimum of 1 year full time (30 hrs a week) or 2 years part time (15 hrs a week) skilled work experience which falls under NOC code A,B or O. Check for your NOC code below:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/noc.asp

Next take your IELTS General test.

Then evaluate your degree or credentials via WES Canada (the best option). See link below:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/noc.asp

After doing the above, to find out if you've qualified you need to score a minimum of 67 points out of 100 in the FSW grid. Calculate your score below:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/apply-factors.asp

Now that you've qualified, you can go ahead and complete your Express Entry profile via the link below:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/profile.asp

Other things you must have:

Reference letters to verify the work experience you're claiming points for in the specified format below:

Written on company letterhead.

Signed by the responsible officers/supervisor.

Have the printed name and job title of the responsible officer/supervisor beneath the signature.

Show the company’s full address, telephone and fax numbers, e-mail and website addresses

Stamped with the company’s official seal (if applicable)

The letter must include 5 things:

Your job title.

The dates of your employment (ideal format: DD/MM/YYYYY).

Your salary per year (or month).

Your average hours per week.

A detailed list of your employment duties.

Next you need to provide police certificates from all the countries you've resided in for 6 months and above since you were 18 years. See link on how to obtain PC from various countries below:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/infORmation/security/police-cert/index.asp

Then you need to provide proof of funds for you and/or your family:

Number of
Family Members Funds Required
(in Canadian dollars)
1 $11,931
2 $14,853
3 $18,260
4 $22,170
5 $25,145
6 $28,359
7 or more $31,574

Note: Birth certificates are no longer required for applicants but are only now required for your child/children.

Wishing you the best of luck smiley!
