Crime › Nigeria Is World Leader In Anti-terrorism Fight — U.S by emamos(op): 12:42pm On May 14, 2016 |
Mr Antony Blinken, the U.S. Deputy Secretary of State, on Friday described Nigeria as the leader of other countries in the fight against terrorism. Blinken, who hailed Nigeria’s anti-terrorism stance, spoke to State House Correspondents after a visit to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo in Abuja on Friday. The U.S. Deputy Secretary of State is in Nigeria ahead of Saturday’s Security Summit to be hosted by President Muhammadu Buhari. “Now here we have this very important security summit that Nigeria is hosting, with countries around the world attending. “This is an evidence of the strength of the Nigerian leadership, with the effort that the President and the Vice President are making to strengthen the economy, fight corruption and deal with the security challenges”, he said. He further hailed the relationship between Nigeria and the U.S. since Buhari’s inauguration as Nigeria’s President. “I was here just a little less than a year ago in preparation for President Buhari’s visit to Washington and since then we have seen the relationship between Nigeria and the U.S. grow deeper and stronger”, he stated. Blinken expressed belief that all Boko Haram’s captives, especially the Chibok girls, would regain freedom. “We have been focused on this from day one, doing whatever we can to provide all the assistance and information that we can develop’’, he said of the Chibok girls. According to him, this is something that has personally touched so many people in the U.S., including President Barack Obama and his family. “It is something that we are focused on every single day. Of course there are others besides the girls who have been taken hostage by Boko Haram. “Our thoughts are with them as well and we are determined as the Nigerian government, not to rest until we get them home”, he added. lalasticlala,mynd44 http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/05/nigeria-world-leader-anti-terrorism-fight-u-s/ |

Politics › New Generation Should Take Over PDP, Build It – Fayose by emamos(op): 5:26pm On May 13, 2016 |
The governor of Ekiti state, Ayodele Fayose has stated that the despite some of the problems the party seem to be facing at the moment, its national convention slated for May 21, 2016 in Portharcourt, Rivers. Governor Fayose who was responding to the purported dissolution of the National Working Committee of the party by a group of concerned party members led by Professor Jerry Gana, insisted that those against the leadership of Senator Ali Modu Sheriff have lost relevance in the party as they no longer have fresh ideas to bring forward. According to governor Fayose, “politics and governance is crisis management. Have you seen a party that is not in crisis when it comes to interest and leveraging of interests? Politics is about interests. Are you saying that you will call somebody in the village to come and take a position? That era is gone. You have to struggle, you have to make efforts and show that you actually need that position. Before now, a lot of the people that were in party positions were unwilling characters. Now willing characters are coming out that is why you see the struggle that much. As a result, a lot of people will be displaced or feel displaced. A lot of people are feeling displayed but it is not displacement as it were. “As I have always said, elders are wonderful people but they should take the back seat. We won’t say they should go. They should take a back seat. I have no apology over that statement. And I am saying it again that if I am struggling for a position with my father, it is ridiculous. New generation should take over this party and build it. Anything you are doing and your children do not have insight into it will perish. Since this party started we have always deferred to them. But are we saying that we should continue to say the younger generation should go to blazes? The question to ask our elders with all due respect to them is that, at some times, if you are the one eating the food, you will pack the plates yourself. We will have differences. It is normal in politics but washing your dirty linen in public is bad. Let the young men take over in Nigeria” he said. He said most of the people running to court to get injunction against the party do not have followers. “If you are leading as elders and we lost election; most of the people who were Jonathan’s adviser were elders and we lost election. In most of the advanced democracy, if you lose election, it is just decent for you to allow other people to try, especially young people. I was governor at 42. You need a lot of energy to be a leader, not when they are giving you Pandol to be strong. Age is a disease on its own” he said. He said despite the problems in the party, there is not threat that the party would disintegrate, noting that “the fact that there is so much in fighting show that the party is strong. The fact that everybody wants to be relevant in the party shows that the party is strong. If there is no future for PDP, there would be no such struggle”. lalasticlala,mynd44 http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/05/new-generation-take-pdp-build-fayose/ |

Nairaland General › Charly Boy Recounts His Encounter With Jesus Christ by emamos(op): 9:30am On May 12, 2016 |
Don’t Mess With my Jesus! In February, 2016, one cool and unusual breezy night in the comfort of my room, I had a strange encounter of the freakiest kind with Jesus, which I shared with you all. In that encounter, our Lord left me with specific instructions. He had instructed me to tell you all, that Nigerians should STOP disturbing him by substituting prayers for hard work. Jesus was very very upset with Nigerian’s kinda prayer requests and shopping list, always calling His Name for the most trivial matters, things that would come to them naturally without sweat were they not a lazy and an unthinking ignorant bunch. Since that special encounter with Jesus, a lot has changed about me. I hardly noticed it, till one of my paddy guys started pointing out a lot of things that I now do differently. Abi I don enter? Pastor Charles? Hmmmmm, ok. He pointed out amongst others things, so many things that I no longer do like taking my afternoon naps in my casket, how I killed my pet phyton on the 26th of February to set my spirit free. How it seems like I have stopped confusing people with my sexuality and how the things of Jesus was taking a hold of me. He observed that my long time advocacy of empowering the youths has taken a monumental dimension. How I have become an emergency marriage counsellor, thanks to Tiwa & Bliss. My calm and coolness suddenly made my paddy man more intrigued and curious “Charly, what’s going on” he asked insinuating that my Jesus encounter had reconfigured me. I really do not feel any different from how I have always felt for the past 37yrs of being consumed by the Charlyboy persona. However I must confess that I have remained dazed by that freaky encounter. I remember Jesus giving me that strong hard look and ordering me to “Get to work” before I could ask, what work? the Lord disappeared as fast as he appeared. Back in the days I would have wondered what they put in my weed. Haba, but am not Pastor Adeboye, T.B Joshua, Pastor Kris Okotie, or any of those holier than thou people. See me see wahala oh. Anyway, from henceforth, let no oyizzyyj Wow that nice power most change hands in Jesus name amen lalasticlala,mynd44 http://www.thebreakingtimes.com/charly-boy-recounts-his-encounter-with-jesus-christ/ |

Crime › A’court Affirms 25 Years Imprisonment For Boko Haram Terrorists by emamos(op): 5:12pm On May 08, 2016 |
The Lagos Division of the Court of Appeal has affirmed the September 30, 2015 judgment of a Federal High Court in Lagos which convicted three men of participating in acts of terrorism and belonging to the outlawed Boko Haram sect. The lower court judge, Justice Ibrahim Buba, who pronounced the convicts guilty, had sentenced the three convicts to 25 years imprisonment each. The convicts are Ali Mohammed, Adamu Karumi and Ibrahim Usman. They had been arraigned in November 2013 along with 14 others before Justice Buba, who found them guilty in September 2014 and sentenced them to a prison term of 25 years each. But being displeased with their conviction and imprisonment, the convicts subsequently approached the Court of Appeal seeking to overturn the judgment. But the Lagos State Ministry of Justice, which charged them to court and secured their convictions, said in a statement by its Public Relations Officers, Mrs. Bola Akingbade, that their appeal was dismissed by the Court of Appeal for lacking in merit. According to the ministry, the convicts had contended that they were charged and convicted under an inapplicable law. They had also contended that the 25 years imprisonment imposed on them was excessive and urged the higher court to reverse their conviction. But the appellate court refused their prayers. Mohammed, Karumi and Usman were arraigned on eight counts in November 2013 before Justice Buba along with 14 other suspected Boko Haram members. Those charged with them were Bala Haruna, Idris Ali, Mohammed Murtala and Kadiri Mohammed and Mustapha Daura. Others were Abba Duguri, Sanni Adamu, Danjuma Yahaya and Musa Audu and Mati Daura, Farouk Haruna, Abdullahi Azeez, Ibrahim Bukar and Zula Diani. But in the course of trial, the then Lagos State, Attorney-General, Mr. Ade Ipaye, had by nolle prosequi, discontinued criminal charges against 13 of the suspects, leaving only Mohammed, Karumi, Usman and Haruna. http://www.punchng.com/acourt-affirms-25-years-imprisonment-boko-haram-terrorists/ lalasticlala |
Crime › ‘scammers Open 300 Emails, 10 Facebook Accounts 7 Twitter Handles’ For Aviation by emamos(op): 7:18am On May 08, 2016 |
Ministerof State for Aviation, Senator Hadi Abubakar Sirika, has alerted the public on the activities of scammers who opened 300 emails and 10 Facebook accounts in his name to defraud Nigerians. Sirika told journalists in Abuja, yesterday, that he had to delete his original Facebook account because he discovered that there were 10 other accounts opened in his name “I want to categorically state that I no longer have a Facebook account because there are about 10 Facebook accounts in my name. I have no email also because there are about 300 emails opened in my name and seven twitter handles in my name”, he stated. Sirika Hadi “I do not partake in the entire social media platform like I saw one email this morning which is not mine.” The Minister informed that he gave employment to 300 graduates and others numbering about 1,000 in some companies and agencies of government during the political campaigns and also shared some vehicles, motorcycles, machines and machinery to people during that period. But all that, he said, were properly planned from his office at that time. “All of those were structured and coming from our office, everyone that had been employed and come to my office was given employment letters. And I had travelled to their villages to take them there. I cannot see how someone will get employment on the internet or otherwise”, Sirika said. He reiterated that it was impossible for him to go on social media to distribute those items which he gave out during the campaigns, adding that there was no way he could give employment letter on the internet. “Please take note of this l don’t give any employment or gifts on the internet.” lalasticlala,mynd44 http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/05/scammers-open-300-emails-10-facebook-accounts-7-twitter-handles-aviation-minister/ |

Politics › Buhari To Halt Importation Of Food Soon – Minister by emamos(op): 5:28pm On May 06, 2016 |
The Federal Government will soon put a stop to importation of food items because Nigeria has the capacity to attain self-sufficiency in food production . The Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, who dropped this hint on Friday said that President Muhammadu Buhari was desirous of stopping all forms of food importation into the country. The minister, who spoke in Bayelsa State when he paid a familiarization visit to the Biotechnology and Resource Development Centre (BIODEC), Odi, said the President strongly believed that Nigeria has the capacity to attain self-sufficiency in food production. “One legacy President Muhammadu Buhari would want to be remembered for is to ensure that the Nigerian State produces enough food resources to feed herself without depending on other nations for food security. “President Buhari strongly believes that if a country like China with a population of over 1.4 billion people can provide food security for her citizens through mechanized farming, Nigeria with less than 200 million people could do same,” Onu said. The minister, who toured the centre in company of the Director-General of the Biotechnology Development Agency (BDA), Prof. Lucy Ogbadu and Director of BIODEC, Odi who is also the Coordinating Director, NABDA, Mr. Josiah Habu, later inaugurated three completed projects at the centre, including an administrative block, information technology block and a training hall. He said with science and technology, the country has the capacity to produce enough food for consumption and export. http://sunnewsonline.com/buhari-to-halt-importation-of-food-soon-minister/

Crime › Boko Haram: Finally, US ‘seeks To Sell’ Attack Aircraft To Nigeria by emamos(op): 5:03pm On May 06, 2016 |
Finally, the US government is hoping to sell up to 12 Super Tucano attack aircraft to Nigeria to help in the fight against Islamist militants Boko Haram, Reuters news agency reports. An anonymous source within the administration is quoted as saying that the US also wants to provide more help with intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance. The sale of the aircraft would need to be approved by the US Congress. The Super Tucano is described by Reuters as a propeller-driven plane that can carry a range of weapons and can be used for attack and surveillance. Nigeria’s army has retaken a lot of territory in north-east Nigeria from Boko Haram in the last year. But the fight against the militants continues. The seven-year insurgency, which has mainly affected north-eastern Nigeria as well as its neighbours around Lake Chad, has left some 17,000 people dead. Recall that the US had under the last administration refused to sell arms to Nigeria, citing human rights abuse by the Nigerian military as the reason, among other things. lalasticlala,mynd44 http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/05/boko-haram-finally-us-seeks-to-sell-attack-aircraft-to-nigeria/ |

Nairaland General › Six-year-old Boy Snatched By Leopard At S/african Park by emamos(op): 4:33pm On May 06, 2016 |
A leopard at a South African game reserve snatched a six-year-old boy and ran off with him. Little Kellan Denny was attacked and dragged away by the big cat at Kruger National Park. As the male leopard ran off with the youngster, his father Justin chased the big cat and screamed out: “No! No! No! This can’t be happening.” Kellan was dragged 30 metres by the leopard who had sunk his teeth into the boy’s shoulder before he was recovered. Justin was able to retrieve his son after the leopard dropped the boy from his jaws. Kellan, who is said to be ‘quite traumatised’ is now recovering at home. He had been playing with his eight-year-old brother near a wall when he was attacked and dragged off by the big cat. Officials at Kruger think the leopard was hunting at the time which is why he attacked the youngster. Kellan was running along the wall when he was called back for lunch, Justin told the local Cape Argus newspaper. But Kellan ran along the wall one more time which is when he was attacked. His father said: “By the grace of God, it dropped him.” “I picked him up and rushed him back to the rondavel (African-style hut). A neighbour arrived with his wife who is a nurse.” The boy was eventually taken to hospital and received stitches as well as a tetanus injection. He has now been dubbed “leopard boy” by his family. Officials at the park, which is north-eastern South Africa, said nothing like this had happened before in more than 40 years. mynd44,lalasticlala http://thenationonlineng.net/six-year-old-boy-snatched-leopard-safrican-park/ |
Politics › It Is A Great Pleasure To Sign Delayed Budget – Buhari by emamos(op): 3:07pm On May 06, 2016 |
Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday signed into law the 2016 federal budget after months of delay caused by mistakes and discrepancies in the original spending plan. Buhari had last December 22 presented a 6.08 trillion naira (around $30-billion, 26.5-billion-euro) budget to parliament but Friday’s document was slightly lower at 6.06 trillion naira. Budget 2016 7: President Buhari joined the likes of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, as he President Buhari signs the 2016 budget into Law in Statehouse on 6th May 2016 “It is a great pleasure to sign the budget. It is a serious article of faith for the Nigerian people,” the president said at a ceremony attended by ministers, the Senate president and officials. “The signing of the budget today will trigger concerted efforts to reflate the Nigerian economy, a key element of which is an immediate injection of 350 billion naira into the economy by way of capital projects.” The budget for Nigeria’s oil-dependent economy is based on a price of $38 per barrel, slightly below the current global market rate of just over $40. Buhari delayed signing the budget after finding errors that civil society groups indicated possible graft, such as multiple purchases of the same vehicles, computers and other equipment. The former military head of state, who has embarked on a widespread anti-corruption campaign since taking office last May, has claimed some lawmakers removed and replaced proposals. He has promised to punish those involved. The delay contributed to the stagnation in Africa’s biggest economy caused by the slump in global oil prices, panicking investors already cautious about slowing growth and high inflation. Buhari admitted on Friday that Nigeria was “experiencing probably the toughest economic times in the history of our nation” but was pinning its hopes on the expansionary budget. The government is hoping to diversify the economy, produce more food, revive manufacturing and generate employment to help kick start growth. Infrastructure development is also badly needed, particularly in roads, housing and power supply for Nigeria’s 180 million people. lalasticlala http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/05/great-pleasure-sign-budget-buhari/ |

Christianity Etc › Isreali, David Shoshan Sues God, Says He Should Stop Answering His Prayers by emamos(op): 1:20pm On May 06, 2016 |
A man in Israel , David Shoshan, who said he doesn’t want God to answer his prayers, file a restraining order against the Almighty. In a report by the Times of Israel, Shoshan told the court, Tuesday, in Haifa, that over the last three years, God had been very negative towards him, demanding that He should stop interfering in his life. Court documents noted that God did not present himself at the hearing, NRG, an Israeli news website reports. Shoshan said he has tried numerous times to obtain the restraining order through the police department, but failed. The reason he decided to go to court. According to the report, the presiding judge, Ahsan Canaan, threw out Shoshan’s request and called it absurd. Canaan asked that Shoshan should get help from someone besides local law enforcement. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/05/isreali-man-sues-god-says-stop-answering-prayers/ |
