How then do you develop and open up other parts of the states if everything is concentrated in the developed parts already? Ado and Ikerre already boast of a number of higher institutions on ground, so siting this there won't make much difference to those towns as it would do to Oye. The only thing is for the FG to spend heavily on infrastructure in that school and by extension the University community (Oye) would enjoy the spill-over effect. Some of the world's best institutions-Oxford, MIT are not located in the most developed parts of the states they're sited, so what's your point?

A prospective medical student has died in South Africa while her friends looked on and cheered thinking she was doing the viral #DeadPose challenge.


Nineteen year old Tshidi Ngwenya, who had earlier posted a series of pictures performing the challenge, had decided to step it up and perform a daring pose.

This time her daring pose proved to be dare and costly as her friends who cheered on thinking she was doing the viral #Deadpose challenge were not able to discover Tshidi was in trouble early enough.

According to report, the challenge didn’t go as planned as she fell to the ground, collapsed and died with her friends having no idea that she was in distress and continued to cheer and take pictures.

Minutes later, one of the friends realized that she was not moving, after checking her they noticed she had choked after swallowing her tongue.

On discovering her friends tried desperately to revive her as they waited for paramedics to arrive. Upon arrival of an ambulance, she was pronounced dead.

Reports say an Ambulance spokesman said “Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of the ambulance crew, nothing could be done to save her.

If her friends had noticed early, she would be alive now” The girl’s parents said she had a history of seizures and might have suffered one while performing the #deadpose.

Three people were reported killed and scores injured in renewed violence in a part of Southern Kaduna.
Residents said the attack occurred on Tuesday night at Samarun Kataf, Zangon Kataf Local Government Area.
The Kaduna State Government on Tuesday night announced a 24-hour curfew in the local government based on security reports.
“The restoration of the curfew follows renewed security threats in Samaru-Kataf where the market was attacked by hoodlums. Security forces have taken steps to restore calm and vigorously enforce the curfew,” Samuel Aruwan, spokesperson to Governor Nasir El-Rufai said.
A resident of the area told PREMIUM TIMES that the attack occurred around 9:30 p.m. at a relaxation joint near Samarun Kataf market.
“We heard the sporadic shooting by unknown gunmen last night around 9:30 p.m. at a relaxation joint in Samarun Kataf town. Three people were killed,” Danjuma Samaru said.
“The bodies and those injured have been taken to General Hospital, Zangon Kataf. I am going there now to visit some relations.

The Kaduna Branch Secretary of the Red Cross , Shehu Abdul, also confirmed the attack.
‎“I received alert that something like that occurred,” Mr. Abdul said.
“Some people were actually killed and injured. But, I can’t confirm the figure until the team dispatched return from the scene,” he added.
The Kaduna Police spokesperson, Aliyu Usman, confirmed the incident but did not speak on the casualty.

Resolution passed by the National Assembly allows Jammeh to stay in power for three more months, state media says.

Yahya Jammeh has been in power for more than 20 years [Reuters]

The Gambia's National Assembly has adopted a resolution to allow President Yahya Jammeh to stay in power for three more months, starting from Wednesday, according to state television.

Jammeh, who has ruled The Gambia for 22 years, initially acknowledged opponent Adama Barrow as the winner of elections in December, but later rejected the ballot count as flawed and lodged a complaint with the country's Supreme Court.

Barrow is due to be inaugurated on Thursday.

Jammeh had declared a state of emergency on Tuesday, just days before he was due to step down, with British and Dutch travel agencies scrambling to evacuate thousands of tourists on Wednesday.
