Is just normal card for identity purposes. If u are not staying long time or u are not into any business dnt worry. is not a serious thing but compulsory |

Pay zero attention to those trying to flip your experience against you. That's what we do in Nigeria and then complain why things never get better. Even with your openness to answer questions relating to Côte d'vour you can still see how our people are reacting and claiming to be all knowing. Thank u my guy |

okeyglm: Is the resident Id same as resident permit? No is not. This is also done by their own citizens. is not an issue just go to " Nigeria home commission " is easy and fast dnt worry u dnt have to face any long lines like here. Things work over there Or u may just leave it like that but if u intended to stay up to 6 months to 1 year is better to do it |

HI GUYS, Honestly speaking i want to thank u all for your time on my thread starting from page 1 to this present page. i will say it a gain am not writing all this stories to brag or prove am a " guru" ( never) Everything i had written on this thread was divine touch from above to use my own story to lift people who are still ready to fight till the end and until they achieve purpose. Today story is just something short to warm me up for the big story that i will be sharing after this present one i will be saying random stories that i had not said before, because i want this stories to lead us out till this "lockdown " is over , and this stories is between me and my 3 friends. i need to rush it because i have a lot of stories to write on my friends and am still asking for some approval to write more about them and if possible i will bring them in to also testify . Now back to why we are here! i remember 5pm everyday apart from saturday was our preparation time for evening slaying ( i hope am using the right words) by 5pm i dnt even go home once i left my Ivorian friends... i am heading towards the church too meet my guys and by then Chidi and bobby are already coming from work while i wait. Our direction is always at that Nigeria woman canteen, because we have a friend called coach who is like our " informat" infact he knows everything about that country, and the laws. also how to approach an Ivorian babes.... that is why is called "THE COACH * in ABIDJAN. we eat at that restaurant then proceed to anywhere we want to explore but most times is bobby's affairs with a woman he likes and he want us to go the girl place. But once is 10pm i always leave them because i have a woman at home and i dnt want my woman to sleep before i get home, if not..... Tomorrow morning will be like confession time for me and i just want to build that trust in her. i remember when 3 of my friends were all looking for job and i have no choice to follow them, even if i was not looking for any job. i was not having soccer training that day and i decided to hangout with them, then later i will join my Ivorian friends. This day was so funny, let me tell u people one thing " if u are in a foreign country u dnt care and u are not shy of anything " this 3 guys were just walking in all shops, bars, restaurants seeking for employment any where they know money can be made. And the funny thing is that as they move they insult them self as in form of joke. i also remember, how i went out to a club with bobby, Chidi and Isioma. That day was the day i stayed very late apart from Saturdays ( SAMEDI SUA) oh that is the same day i know " good friend" is priceless. And that same day was the only day i was held by " Ivorian police " known as ( gendarmarie) by Ivorian people because i was not having that "identity card ". Please this information goes to people that are about to make a journey to " ivory coast".... Listen! Once u get into the country and after some time if not the next day of ur arrival, make sure you get an "Ivory coast residents identity card " is for every nationals and is easy and cheap to do " 1000 to 1500 in NAIRA" that is from 2000 CFA. So that day i was held and almost approaching their police station then they ask me to call any of my relative or friends to come and pay fine. That was how i called Bobby, and he sent Isioma to come and bail me because he too was also not having the card. Isioma was the only one who has the card among us. But this identity card is not always in use, but is good u have it at hand because sometimes their police and securities outfits like to ask and mostly by December period, they always want to review the good guys from the bad guys Thanks guys i will be talking more about ( SAMEDI SUA ) on my next update. Stay tuned! Guys cc:odinga1of cc:claraola cc:joemetry |

We used to do it together and even played in the same academy on Pro League the one we call division 2 in English football, I had ACL injury and had to stop the hustle but he is still pushing strong and has tried his luck in Burkina Faso and some other African countries, I need to tell him about Ivory Coast as the pay in this other countries is just for survival and to help one push the hustle the more.
These are the kind of threads we want in this platform. Thank u my bro. Tell him not too give up |

Liftmaster: OP, I will respond to you because it's your thread. Constructive criticism should not be construed as hatred and should not be taken personally. You know that I don't know you from the next guy on the street so why should the concept of hatred come in? Take it for what it is and what its worth. There is a lot lacking ….details, descriptive information, perspectives, pictures which could speak a thousand words! Names of towns, street names, locations, names of restaurants, clubs you visited, names of churches and their locations. I would encourage you to re-read a few of the other contributions on this thread and compare and contrast. Perhaps I am just used to a higher level of output on Nairaland! Bro, firstly, i will thank u for reading my thread. Secondly, i am not here to for any competition or award. Also i am not saying i am a " guru" i left ivory coast 2 years now and believe i never thought about writing anything about my journey. ( that is too tell u i just do things... I like to be inspired or led) I believe, i was led by God to write anything u see here on this thread to strengthen people faith with " my sweet memories " Lastly i will not say everything i experience over there. and also i will not put some names on this thread, because u dnt know who is reading it. I try to act like a messager, just preach the news u are sent too and not just what you want to hear. Am sorry if my thread is not good for u or your quality u wanted it to be, but like i said am using my " sweet memories " to lift people who are down but not out! This is my greatest joy than " front page" ! |

Spacewalk: I don't know why some people are so daft, always claiming some sort of intelligent serious minded individual. This guy is a footballer not a doctor or an Engineer or a business man. Footballers and women plus chilling is their lifestyle, he is sharing his experience and what he has encounter during his stay, so I wonder why you feel his stories are misleading.
Please disregard these two monkeys above, na oversabi dey worry them. Thank you brother, am not surprised because even "Jesus Christ " was criticized and hated.... So am not surprised because some human beings are not satisfied. Like i said from page one this is just " my Sweet memories" and not comparing ivory coast with anywhere in the world. And i will be updating very soon for other people to be encouraged. CONCLUSION - may be the guy want me to lie about my story |

edwonderz: Thanks, Mekus for sharing your Ivory Coast experience with us. Your sweet story has rekindled my long-forgotten lovely memories of Ivory Coast.
I have been to IC twice on a cycle tour and I was opportune to experience Abidjan briefly during the first tour. A young man in his twenties approached me at the finish line of our race in Abidjan and greeted "bros how far na" I was stunned when I heard pidgin spoken in a faraway foreign land and asked him how he knew I was Nigerian. He replied and said he sighted when I came out of our team bus that was distinctively embalmed (Team Nigeria) on the body. We exchange phone numbers after a brief chit chat and he implored that I give him a call in the evening so he can come and pick me up to show me around the city. Femi is his name, he is a smart and a decent looking guy. He was in the same kind of hustle like the OP but his living conditions were more comfortable because he had a sponsor and a side hustle according to him.
I couldn't reach out to Femi that evening as agreed, I needed some sleep to recover from the exhaustion of cycling from Ghana to Abidjan. That day was the last stage and the most tiring stage of all races or perhaps I was fatigued from the general accumulated exhaustion of riding from Surulere, Lagos (where the race was flagged off) to Abidjan. I rang Femi the next day and he came and took me out. We boarded a taxi and drove around the city, unfortunately, I can't recall most of the places we visited nor the names but I can vividly remember visiting two different markets that were saturated with Nigerians trading in all kinds of goods, the place was bustling and looked neater than the average markets I am used to. The place we had lunch was like a mini Yoruba quarter where almost everyone spoke Yoruba.
French is the official language in Ivory Coast, you can hardly get around if you don't understand basic French except you opt to be hanging around with your tribesmen all the time. It's highly recommended to learn the language of your host country if you intend d to stay there and start up a business. Almost everything in IC is beautiful, I observed that Francophones live a very simple life and they know how to enjoy life to the fullest. At sundown, every street is immaculately illuminated and it's time for happy hour in the local pubs.
I and Femi connected so easily as if we have known each other for long so we decided to venture farther away from the city to a suburb that he said he had always wanted to visit but hasn't created the time to do so. We alighted in this busy suburb and located one popular club in the area. Inside the club, everyone was on the dance floor while the DJ was blasting makossa music. There was some serious waist shaking going on, the type that will make any man lose concentration. We spotted a group of three gorgeous girls dancing and without hesitation, we asked if we can join their party and they affirmed with so much excitement. A lot of things went down and we all had mad fun that night. The next day I went back to my lodge, packed my bag and set for the long road trip back to Lagos with my teammates.
My second Ivory Coast experience was surreal. I thought I had fun during the first visit but it was nothing compared to the second visit. This time I had the opportunity to tour other regions; from Abidjan to Man - Zoukougbeu - Bonon - Yakro - Bouaké - Katiola - Ferké - (back to) Bouaké - Sakassu - Yamoussoukro - Dimbokro - Bonguanu - Daoukro - Adzopé - and finished in Abidjan If I have spare time and if Emekus permit I will share my second experience here. Please I will suggest if anyone is in Ivory Coast or have visited before, you are welcome to share your story to keep the thread alive while we are patiently waiting for an update from the OP. Thank you all for your contributions. Fire down brother.... Go on with your story |
